This is the worst professor I have had at Queen's. He doesn't care about the students' needs and is quite rude in talking to. Just to warn you, Queen's guidance stated that 50% of the class failed the midterm, and over 1/3 of the class dropped the course due to low marks. These low marks could be attributed to his poor teaching and unfair midterm.

The exams are written right after the other which make it difficult to study for both, in my opinion.

I think Dr. Carran falls somewhere in between the two extremes of "worst professor I've ever had" and "absolute genius, not his fault if you do poorly". He is very knowledgeable, but he is also extremely arrogant. He does care about his students doing well, but in terms of his priorities, that comes second to preserving his inflated ego.

He is by far the worst prof I've had. For a course as intensive as organic chem you would think you would get at least one weekly lecture but he gives none at all. Making "compressed notes" that barely highlight important information, and forcing students to read from a textbook is not an effective way of teaching. Good luck to anyone taking it.
