Great teacher who knows the material and actually cares about it. He is a fair grader but you will have to work for an 'A'. He likes to randomly call on people in class so make sure you read from the ebook

Great first impression and very passionate. Going to be a lot of reading from textbook but looks like it will be worth it. You can tell Professor Castella is down to earth and has a sense of humor.

Interesting class so far. Professor Castella let's the class debate issues that pertain to the weekly readings. I have no experience with collective bargaining but am drawn to it and we have only had 2 classes so far. Looking forward to the next class.

Classes have been thought out and prepared. The Professor makes you think with questions regarding putting yourself in the labor movement during that period as well as having Power Points for each class. He has a lot of info topics so be prepared to learn.This is my elective and actually pleased withit so far.

Very good teacher. I had my last class yesterday before my final next week and I can say I learned a great deal from him. He cares about the material, uses his union background to get his point across and is hilarious. I'm glad I was able to register for another class he is teaching next semester. Great teacher. As long as you study for the mid term and the final you will do fine. Bargaining exercise was intense but well worth the experience. It pulls the whole class lessons together. Also a paper is required but wasn't bad at all.

Professor Castella knows his material. He jokes around and makes the material much more interesting. Just make sure you read and participate of there will be a pop quiz. I wish he was teaching in a classroom next semester and not online.

My first time taking an online class and Professor Castella and Professor Voos made it an amazing experience. I missed a project and was given the option of going to several local labor museums. Certainly something I would have never done and yet it was an amazing experience. You would be foolish not to take any of the classes they teach.

Great feedback with my papers and seems to really care about the subject. If you miss a forum you will most likely get offered and alternate assignment to do. I really wish he taught at the main campus so I can take another class of his.

Great! Funny and down to earth and makes learning interesting. Short but tough tests and the bargaining exercise is fun at the end of the semester. If you want to learn by someone who cares then take this class. if you want to sit back and relax, you will be found out fast. Would def take again only wish he was teaching on the main campus

Took Professor Castella class online. The whole class was set up rather well as long as you participated in the allotted time. If you dont he will offer you an alternate assignment for a reduced point value. I actually learned a great deal from this class.

Fantastic Professor who teaches from not only the book, but experience. He makes the often times boring readings better with his sense of humor and take on the subject. I had him twice and learned a great deal in his classes. The bargaining exercise at the end of the semester is the icing on the cake. Stressful but worth it. Highly recommend!

Professor Voos and Castella taught this section and they were great. They give you the option of online or in person bargaining which makes it easier. I took the in person and was glad. Whenever I emailed them with a question, they were very quick to respond and always seemed to be on the same page. I would definitely recommend this class with them

This Professor is awesome. Took him 2x already (online and classroom) and would take a 3rd if I can. Definitely knows the subject of Organized Labor and makes a rather boring class easy going with the main theme of 'learning'. Take in classroom if you can. You wont be disappointed.

Great Professor who taught from experience. Negotiation simulation was stressful but awesome. Hes funny and engages the whole class with discussion. His homeowrk is easy BUT his tests arent. Just do the weekly assignments and you will do fine. The last rating obviously has an ax to grind or is clueless. Definitely take whatever he teaches.

Progessa Voos and Castella made my first online class a success. They both respond to any questions or emails right away. I was even texting Prof Castella and he would respond right away. The unit quizzes are tough and you will bomb it if you dont read. I would highly recommend both professors if you havent taken them already.

Awesome professor. I had personal issues throughout the summer semester and he constantly checked up on me to make sure I kept up with the work. It was hard to complete and I know I wouldn't have been able to without his help. If you don't take one of his classes your really missing out.

Coming right from work, Professor Castella makes a rather long day a little easier. He defiintely has experience in the field and most likely has a story or scenario for any question. He isnt too tough of a grader, but his exam isn't the easiest either. Too bad i found him before I'm about to graduate

The ultimate student's professor. Some professors are all about their research and grade students, but Professor Castella will take time for any of his students. Gives great advice on everything from careers, courses, to personal stuff (family issues). He's very easy to talk to after class and comes in at least a half hour before class.

professor Voos and Castella give a well informed online class. When I had questions they both emailed me back right away. If you dont do well in the forums they offer extra credit. pretty big group assignment. I learned a good amount and would recommend this class.

I took Professor Castella several times while getting my BA. WHatever he is teaching, take! You will learn and he makes a rather long night fun. Pick his brain, he knows the topic and is willing to chat before and after class about whatever issues/questons you may have.

take this class. the bargaining simulation at the end of the semester is awesome. Professor Castella makes the night go quicker. Just make sure you read. pop quizes if nobody is interacting with him.

Prof Castella came highly recommended by my advisor and I can say now it was a great semester! There is a good amount of readings each week but the discussion boards were great even if they took a little extra effort. Put in the effort and you can definitely get an A! Studying for exams are a MUST. Would definitely take again!

One of my favorite professors, had hum for asynch intro to labor and employment. Great class, assignments weren't bad at all, and he's very understanding of any hardships you may face during the semester. A bit of a tough grader though.

Professor Castella is a tough but fair grader that expects high quality work from his students. As long as you keep up with your deadlines and openly communicate with him and any partners that you may have for group assignments, you will find him to be an incredible repository of knowledge and experience in the field of labor studies.

Prof. Castella is very reasonable as long as you communicate with him and is pretty easy to contact. There is a lot of reading however as long as you stay on top of what you have to do in a week you'll be fine! A great class to take!

Understanding and a fair grader—follow the instructions, do your work, and you'll be fine. The effort you put in determines your grade. Lots of reading, videos, etc., and quizzes based on that—take good notes and you'll do fine. Lots of discussion posts (but they were fun imo). The class itself taught me a lot, so I enjoyed the class and professor!

This course was honestly pretty easy given that I did take it during the summer. Every week was a new sports topic, which also came with a very short quiz and a discussion forum. You'll really find it enjoyable if you like sports and he does genuinely care about your grade and wants you to pass. And funny! Highly recommend this course.

This course that I took over the summer was challenging but not extremely hard as I was given the perfect amount of resources to complete all question forums and knowledge checks I had. I think Professor Castella was very clear with what was expected of us, and it was easy to follow.

Professor Castella was a very organized and straightforward professor. He did a very good job giving out information that was needed to complete the assignments. He did not assign crazy work which was good.

This was a cool class and thought it was executed perfectly. Learned a lot and was able to discuss with many other students and talk about our different views on what we are reading. Big on discussion and readings.

I have taken two labor studies classes with Professor Castella. I have learned a great deal from him. He is transparent, cares about his students and will honestly keep us informed if we are not putting in the work and/or what we can do better. He shares real time and great historical information for students to learn a great deal.

This course was very organized and to the point. If you are in his online course you will receive assignments that will 100% help you learn the material but it won't be overwhelming. I recommend this professor for this course to anyone who is considering it.

Hi i am here for the extra credit

The professor was always available if you need anything even late at night or last minute. When we had a problem with our big group assignment. The professor joined our next zoom meeting and was really helpful with helped us get a better grade and we were not left guessing on what needed to be done to achieve a good grade.

He is receptive to students' struggles and relatively easy to reach via email. His coursework throughout the week was very regimented and structured, with little surprise. In his heavily weighted assignments, he offered reasonable alternatives for students who were unable to participate.

Professor Castella is very to the point and a very good professor! His assignments are very interesting and I enjoyed reading and leanring about collective bargaining agreements.
