Talks about random things in class, that have nothing to do with his tests.
If you don't like to read the textbook, then there is NO WAY you will pass this class. Childers is an interesting guy and his stories are good, but they have nothing to do with the material, and you wont pass the class just by going to class. READ!
His class is hard! Going to class is useless. You have to read the whole book to do good in the class and every chpt. is over 50pg long. He has good stories during class but his tests are very hard...

There is no need to go to class b/c the only way to do good is read every chapter and study for hours. Only talks about his own life experiences.

Childers is a joke! every story he tells in class is a lie! example, he told my class he was a catcher in the cuban baseball league...now wait a sec... he blew his knees out in high school! theres no way he could have been a catcher with 2 bad knees! liar
Hard class. Highest grade was a "D" at one point. Have to read like crazy and study for mad hours just to get a low grade. Take someone else!!

This teacher was quiet possibly the most rude and unpleasant person I have ever met. I did not even take his class face-to-face but I tell you this; I never will if I have any choice whatsoever.
By far, the worst professor I had while attending ECU. He's rude, vain, and absolutely self-involved! I went to him for help, and he told me that if I'm sleeping more than 5 hours a night, I'm not studying hard enough for his class. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
All he did was talk about his life. He told sooooooooooo many stories about his mother, I feel like I know the woman. He taught directly from the book, so there was no need to go to class. The highest grade was a D and that was lucky.

If you don't want to go to class but enjoy reading I would suggest this class other than that don't take it w/ him! Test days are the only days worthy of attending. Just read the chapters thoroughly the test come straight from the book.

This class was crazy I studied all the time for it and at best managed a c. I would constantly ask him what to do to do better and he had no help,eventually he set up a tutorial program for me but even this did not help.
I disagree with everyone else. Although this was a very, very difficult class I did get an A in it and I wasn't the only one who did. He was fair he gave 5 exams and dropped the lowest one so only 4 were averaged in your grade. I enjoyed his stories.
This guy just plain sucks. His tests are extremely difficult, and not many people do well under his teachings. You MUST READ the text or YOU WILL FAIL his class.
He tells stories all the time, we never refer to the book. But the tests come completely from the book. And all his stories are lies. He is nothing but a guy who wishes he was something more than he is. And he takes it out on the students b/c he isnt.

The class isn't that bad. His classes are boring & his stories are VERY annoying, but the tests aren't that hard. I didn't even read the chapters and got B's. Just read over the chapters, listen to his stories, & suck it up. This IS college after all!
I had him for a 3 hr night class & hated every minute of it. His lectures have nothing to do with the book or his tests. He tries to be something he's not. He can't answer questions and he's not helpful. Dont take him
he is kinda funny, but doesn't cover the material in class. tells a lot of stories and expects you to do all of the studying at home. tests are very hard because he pays so much attention to the minor details. takes a lot of studying to get an A.

He is Horrible!!! He tells a lot of pointless stories, and does not teach well at all. His tests are extremely nit-picky! Very hard to even get a B! Good-luck if you get stuck in his class!
Anyone even considering taking this class, please do yourself a favor & just go ahead and average in a C or lower into your GPA b/c that's all you'll probably manage. He can't teach & your on your own on the tests!
He does not teach what is on the test. Reading the book helps, but his questions are so specific. Only take this class if you can handle a lot of reading, and his test to be nit picky. Only good thing is he does not have an attendace policy.
He is not that bad. You don't have to go to class. just read the chapters that the test is going to be on and study a little and you will be ok. he follows the book. he gives some extra credit to.

He comes off as a hard teacher but he really isn't. In order to do well in his class you have to read the chaper and thats what he tells you in the beginning of class. He also tries to come off as an MD instead of a PHD which is actually quite funny!
He is not very helpful and doesn't work well with you. I would try for someone else.
I am a straight A student and this was the worst professor I ever had in my college experience. He is very unclear and indecisive. Do not listen to his lectures concentrate only on the book. Good luck if you take him you are going to need it.
childers is a good teacher. just get to know him and make sure he knows who you are. if he knows you care he'll make it so much easier
great guy... he is on top of recent developments in the fields and does most of his teaching based on the current situations. Tests come STRAIGHT FROM THE BOOK and he does not require attendance. lots of Extra credit available.

I absolutly hated going to this class. His stories may be interesting, but not helpful at all. Barely covered any material from the text, which is the only thing on the exams. Take someone else (Dr. Eppler is fair).

Wonderful teacher!!! Don't take his class if you are not willing to read the book. His tests usually come straight from the material in the book. If you're a psych major, definitely take at least one class with him.

There was no attendance policy and he helped me with my final grade because I was 1 point away from the next grade. He is a good man if you are a good student and study for tests. That is all he expects.

I'm in the class now and after nmy first test grade i now understand when ppl say to read the book. I was totally shocked when i got my test results back... Right now he is using this new blackboard crap and it sucks!!!!!!
Dr. Childers is a great professor. He allows you to drop a test grade and gives up to 150 xtra credit points. you get extra credit for attendance, reading, quizzes and doing your work. All you have to do is go to class and read the text. tests are straight out of the reading. and go to class!!

Dr. Childers is very rude and makes it hard for you to want to ask questions in his class. He is also not very helpful when something is going wrong with an assignment, he just simply says, "that's your problem". He can hurt your feelings very easily and you have to study the chapters entirely
the only thing i learned in this Psychology class was how to spell PSYCHOLOGY. Who eva said this man was a good teacher is playing you so you could make a low D or a high F and that is about it?

He is a horrible teacher. In lecture all he does is talk about himself and the stuff he's done. blah..blah..blah! He lets u drop a test but it actually hurts you because he grades on a point scale! The only way I learned the lecture was thru the breakout sessions!

Dr. Childers was the worst professor I had at ECU!! Just to give you an idea, I made a D in his class, took it again with someone else and made an A !! (It really wasn't me this time :) ). The focus is always on him and never helping or really explaining things to his students. By all means possible, try to get out of taking his class.

He is horrible, he does not know how to teach, and he uses the powerpoints that the publisher provides, he wont even make his own. He is lazy, and doesnt care about his students. Tough teacher. Lectures are more boring than...well, normal lectures. Gives mucho extra credit and quizzes are easy if you do the reading. No attendance policy is good. All departments should adopt one ;)

Not that bad a teacher. Says what he thinks, but is not willing to help at all. Straight forward about what you will be tested on.
I'm a psych major so I pretty interested in this stuff, but he is the worst professor in the universe. He uses some lame/unhelpful powerpoints and does nothing to help you. If you study on your own and read the book very carefully you will do well. His jokes are the worst and he is pretty ignorant.

i mean look at all the other ratings. it is not a joke when i say get somebody else. he is completely unbearable. he dosn't write his own powerpoints, homework or tests. everything is on a point scale. i have an A but its still alot of bull you shouldn't have to go through. completely unhelpful.

he's not very nice but his class isn't that hard if you put the time into it. really have to read and use the computer program and workbook that is required for class. If you learn best by having someone teach it to you I wouldn't pick him. It's more of a "teach yourself" class
This guy is an idiot. He gets side tracked and and his "funny stories" are of no help to you what so ever. He might be a good psychologist but he's a terrible teacher. And the online quiz stuff is BS!! Might as well be back in high school doing busy work. It over all however is an easy class...he's just an idiot. DON'T TAKE HIM!!

I had no problem with him. He has rules. If you do the work, read, and study, you get an A. If you don't, you struggle. It's that simple. He holds students accountable for their actions, good for him. Kind of unhelpful though. Not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. I got an A, but I worked for it. I had no problems with him.

He likes to babble about his personal experiences as a clinician- half the time I think he's making up stuff- and your left with no idea what to study for the test. Avoid him!

Cocky guy, attendance is graded, however, his lectures are pointless. They barely help with exams. To get an A all you have to do is some hard studying for the chapters and you're set. Fairly generous grading system if you know how it works. I wouldn't recommend him, though.
Most unrelated lecture to psychology ever, all he talked about was being an athlete, his crazy patients and those christmas shoeboxes. I hated every minute of it.
Don't bother attending class, just do the homework and online quizes and you'll do fine on the tests. Never took attendance. Were required to do homework before relevant material was covered in class.
He does not teach at all! He just talks about his past experiences. Trust me what he lectures about won't help you on the tests or labs. Not very helpful but I pulled off a good grade. You really just have to teach yourself. Read the book and the breakout teachers are helpful. They give study guides. Try not to get him if you actually want to learn
Although his lectures have a tiny amount to do with the text, he is interesting to listen to. He is FAIR if you have a true issue outside of class, but don't try to BS him. Overall, as long as you know how to study, you will be fine.
This professor is not understanding at all and only talks about himself and his daughter in lecture. You have to teach yourself if you want to pass. Do the labs and don't open more than one by mistake or he will NOT understand why that happened even when the system blocks and freezes and give you a zero for both of them. DO NOT TAKE HIM EVER!!!!!
Teaching is not his strong suit. All of the learning that will occur in this class will occur on your own. While you may learn a great deal with work, he isn't behind any of it. All he's doing is putting together preformed tests and gathering "interesting data" for the book publisher. "Tuesdays with Morrie" is optional, and its a great read.
Be prepared to read and study a lot on your own. he goes over slides is class, but most of the time he gets side tracked. Do all of the labs, and online stuff, and you should be fine. And definitley read Tuesdays with Morrie, it's a great book, and it's extra credit.
If you can't teach yourself, don't take this class. All he does is review slides that barely cover the points of the chapter or get on his soap box about how the public school system in NC has turned us all into idiots. Read the book, take the online tests, don't expect him to personally teach you that much

Text is poorest excuse I have ever seen. The author is extremely biased and seems only partially informed on the subject. Dr Childers expects the students to act like adults and to actually study the material. More than adequate resources are available for anybody to make an "A" in the course, if they actually want to.
Not the best professor I've had. Actually, pretty bad, BUT he offers a ton of extra credit. Read the book for 25pts do all the quizes, they aren't too bad, and don't go to class, waste of time. You can drop the lowest test, and he even lets you make up a missed test, for ANY reason. He isn't great teaching, but it's easy to get an A
Dr. Childers is a great man. We are in college now so reading the book and studying should not be a foreign concept. I put alot of time and effort into his class but it definately paid off. Hardest A I've ever eanred but I learned alot about life and psychology. I would definately take his class again.
Great teacher! Went to every class and did all the assignments, easy A. If you read all the chapters you do well on the test. Gives lots of extra credit, if you do it you will be fine. I highly recommend him to everyone.

He is funny! comes off as a hard ball but he is one of those teachers you can side track easily. He knows his material, but sometimes just talks through class. His tests require studying, but you learn more with an F in his class then an A in any other psyc class. He hands our coupons and magazines haha.. I like the class.

Dr. C swears in almost every class, is easily distracted, and makes "jokes" that are not politically correct in the least. His class is hard, so do the large amount of extra credit that he offers, and read the novel. Do all labs, but prepare for labs with pre & post test. Really try to UNDERSTAND the material. You'll cheat yourself if you don't.

Very boring. He sits in his chair and reads notes off the internet. There are book chapter quizzes and the tests come straight from the book. Each absence is 2 points off of your grade. Takes your highest 5 grades out of 5 exams and your 12 chapter quizzes which can add up to 150 points. Curves exams. Once you make an A, you can stop going to class
He is a coin toss. Horrible teacher, we live in a technological world and he reads out of the book for an hour, ridiculous. However, he is fair, makes what he expects known. He expects much from his students adn that includes studying (alot) Slightly obnoxious and talks about himself alot. I advise you go to class, do like me and take a crossword
He is a really interesting person. You must do your homework/reading assignments or you will fail. I have really enjoyed his class. He doesn't buy into all the usual liberal crap!
