A total of 4 essays, daily homework, and near the end of the semester, he gave is mini quizes at the beginning of every class. He is pretty laid back, sometimes a little too laid back. Lack of preparedness, and takes forever to grade and return work. Overall, I enjoyed his class.

Loved his class! I recommend to anyone planning on taking English. He is a super laid back, funny, and will listen to you. If you are having trouble turning in an assignment just tell him he is super understanding. And the novels we read are all actually really interesting!

Very easy grader and very laid back. You can pretty much go on your phone the whole class, just don't make it too obvious. The classes are kinda pointless and it seems like we waste a lot of time doing activities that we don't even need. You'll need the books from some stupid in class activities, but yea you should buy them.

There were 5 books we had to read, & we wrote a 4-5 pg essay on 4 of them. There is a large essay that's worth 40% of your grade, it's a pretty simple research paper and if you do correct MLA formatting, it's pretty much an auto pass. Clanton is really nice and understanding. If you take an interest & ACTUALLY read, you'll have fundo great.

This guy's a smart, hard working & reliable professor. Many of the students that take his class, mostly take him for granted. If you do the work, engage in his class, and actually read the books, then you should have no problem. I recommend the students paying attention though! I'd take him again: he's a great listener. Loves feedback.

My favorite english I actually enjoyed being apart of. I hate english, but he made it fun! The essays were were assigned topics, but we got write about whatever we want. There is a minimu 6 page research paper due by the end of the semester, but it was not even difficult nor stressful. This professor loves to bring humor to the class and is awesome

I took Mr. Clanton's English 78B class this spring, It was part lab and a lecture class. I am normally not good with English classes but he made sure to always answer my questions as needed and he is patient. I definitely recommend his classes. I will be taking him for English 1A. Attendance is MANDATORY. Lots of reading, but an easy A.

As long as you show up each day and do what syllabus had asked for (which he followed the most of all professors I had taken), then you will be fine. Really understanding and allows you to revise some papers. Class was weighted by categories and not raw points.

Eniglish 1B was extremely easy. The notebook assignments may seem like a lot of work but they really are not. Just make sure you do good on the essays (which are easy) and you'll most likely pass the class.

Professor Clanton is the professor I wish every student like me had. After failing English 79 twice, I decided to take his English 95/1A class. Mr. Clanton shows passion for what he does and he will help you during his office hours if you need his help. I wish that every professor was as understanding, helpful and passionate as he is.

I don't usually enjoy studying assigned poetry, however we got to read Tupac which was really interesting. He used fun YouTube videos to explain things to us. He gives plenty of time to do assignments. He gave clear feedback so you knew how to correct it and could redo all essays if you didn't like your grade.

He grades on participation if you'd normally fail, but are active in your work and discussion you'll do fine. He just wants people to get the material and concept. The material he picks is very interesting and engaging in class discussions. He believes he also can learn from his students :)

A quick skim of the material and googling some quotes was enough for most essays. A lot of discussions, like every English class, but its usually full credit as long as you try. He actually reads and responds to every essay, which is nice, and lets you revise it for more points. If you wanted, you could turn in all essays at the end of the semester

This is a great professor! I took him for an online summer course Eng 1B. I could've received an A, but I work full time and mother of 2 so I received a C. The C was solely be causing missing assignments. There is a lot of reading, but as long as you don't procrastinate you will PASS!

Easy A class. Im not good with English but he made Essay outlines simple for you. Discussions are a lot but it's really easy if you put time on it. I admitted Essays are challenging but he will point out what you need to improve and will give you opportunities to revise your essays for better grades. He is the easiest Prof. in Eng 1B. John Clanton is a great english professor. Just read the assigned books and write and essay on each one, and do the weekly class discussions (easy points) then thats pretty much the whole class. He gives great feedback and lets you redo all of your essays if you want to take his feedback into account.

Hes is the best. He gives you essays that range from 3-5 pages. He lets you revise them after he graded it and in the end of the class you can turn it it your revised one for a better grade. He picks pretty good books to read. He makes you interact with your classmates during class for group assignments. He offers extra help and hes really nice

John Clantons is a great teacher at Delta. His class is easy to follow so if you miss a few days youll be able to catch up if you want to. There isnt many graded assignments, so the ones that he gives count heavy. He is very understanding, and gives excellent feedback on papers. He loves group work too so beware.

I took two of his classes (ENGL 100 and 103). He does contract grading. Basically if you do all the work and show up you get a B. If you do everything really well and participate a bunch, you get an A. He encourages communication, the assignments were straightforward, the feedback was helpful, and there was lots of class discussion/activities.

He is a really good teacher, the books you read in his class are really fun to write about. The books he assigns have really good messages and allows to see different perspectives of people in society. English is not my best or favorite subject but this class was my favorite English class. Be ready to read but it is an english1B class.

I took ENG 30 online, and it was a good class! Assignments were to watch movies/films and to learn about film terminology and cinematic effects/elements. Writing short papers for films are also required. I love writing essays, and watching films are a plus in this class. I've always picked Prof. Clanton for my English classes. Highly recommend him.

John is an amazing professor, he is tough to reach through canvas but does supply his personal number in the syllabus. He does take a while to grade, but he has over 7 classes and roughly 500 students so we have to be patient. He does all the lectures by himself and is flexible to suit your needs. He supplies extra credit and outside class help.

Super easy class! Weekly discussion posts that you get 100% on if you just follow the guidelines, and 4 essays and 1 graphic essay. Professor is super super super understanding, flexible and lenient. Is willing to work with students, and allow late submissions if you ask! You may also revise essays for a better grade.

Idk what everyone else is saying, but this is such an easy class. The couple discussion posts only require a paragraph and a response to two other classmates. The essays are also easy and he does not grade harshly at all. Do all the work and you will easily get an A.

I read a few comments about Prof C not giving feedback. His course load was heavy, but me met with our class several times via Zoom. He even met with me on a weekend! He is very inspirational and intelligent. He also created unique assignments. For example, we had to create a "mixed-tape" where we made connections to songs. I highly recommend him.

I took John Clanton for English 1A/95. He provided detailed instructions and sometimes even wrote samples for the students himself. The "coaches" are great too. We had to meet with them before turning in our essays. He does take a little while to return essays but he explained to us that he reads everything and doesn't hire anybody to our essay

I took Professor John class for 1A/95. He is a very good teacher and his coaches help out very well too. He like to make detailed videos that explain all the assignments. He gave me lots of good reading strategies too. I recommend him.

This class is easy and fun. Some complained about him turning in grades late but he gave us extra time after the semester to revise and turn in late work. This helped me tremendously and might not have passed because my anatomy class was extremely hard.

Prof Clanton's class was great! We learned about different ways to write arguments. His class has a happiness theme which was very interesting. It made re-think my own definition of happiness and thought about ways that I, and the country as a whole, could redefine what makes us happy. Another plus is that he doesn't require a textbook.

TAKE! I took him this Spring semester '21 and it was an amazing class! I could tell that he would get excited when students joined his zoom sessions. Not a tough grader. There were three essays, easy! (2 chances) There were only like two modules in which we had to read a bit more than usual, but nothing heavy! The final was extremely easy too!

Awesome professor but its hard to get a hold of him when it comes to emails. Class have discussions, written respones and 1 film essay, 1 story-board drawing, and final film essay. I had Professor Clanton for ENG 30: Film is Literature. Analyzing movies and recognizing symbolism and themes just becomes second nature and it feels great to properly foreshadow the plot ahead of your friends. Jokes aside, I came out of the class with 100% and all you have to do is follow his assignment instructions and I promise they are not hard

Professor Clantons workload is very easy to handle. The only problem with his class is the essays. He grades very strictly on the essays, although he does give great feedback as well. I recommend him if you want to be a great writer in the future.

He made the class so fun, I love English to begin with but he's what all English teachers should be. Professor Clanton is a super down-to-earth chill guy. Took over the summer semester. A LOT of work, but Clanton was kind enough to provide us the entire 6 weeks to complete all assignments without penalty. Made a huge difference! You're exposed to a diverse variety of authors, which I loved to see. Gave many unique options for the final - the mixtape was very creative and fun! Hope to have him again.

He's very approachable and inspiring. I took ENG 1D, and the class theme is about "happiness", very fun and interesting. Grades heavily in Essays, gives some extra credits if you did very well on Discussions. The workload manageable (for a summer course) and the grading is rather lenient. I'll take him again for ENG 30 (Film), see him in Fall!

I'll have taken a course with Clanton 3 times this semester. He's just a chill dude who doesn't grade hard. His class is mostly him lecturing about the assignments. The attendance is graded so show up haha. His papers aren't that hard to be honest, just know the general idea of what he's looking for and he'll be happy with that.

Excellent professor, I took ENG 1D and ENG 30 with him. For ENG 30 the course load is very light, it felt like a 1 unit class rather than a 3 unit class. I think he gave almost everyone a 100 as long as you did the work. I made mistakes but it doesn't hurt my grade. He take attendance and he will deduct point if you don't show up (late is okay).

I took his film class and it was a good experience, chill class with chill professor. It has legitimately made me much more interested in not just film, but literature as well. One tip: though he is lenient with late work, I suggest keeping up regardless, especially with the novel you have to read. 10/10 experience and would highly recommend.

Excellent professor (I took 3 classes from him: ENG 1D, ENG 30, and ENG 52), all are great classes. The class assignments are really fun and engaging, don't get fooled by the ratings, it's not an easy "A". You have to do your part in order to succeed, he gives quite a bit, but reasonable amount of work, but his gradings are rather lenient.

Took Prof 2x due to personal reasons but he was the only professor who reached out to check in & encourage me to come back. He's caring, understanding, and provides interesting material to read (affordable books). When I took the class again, he was a bit disorganized but I still recommend him. EASY GRADER, EXTRA CREDIT, & ACCEPTS LATE WORK!

I'll truly miss this professor as I had him for ENG 1A, 30, and now 1D. His summer class was 6 weeks with lots of work. As long you understand the assignments, you should have a good grade.14 discussions, 3 essays (Definition Argument, Rhetorical Analysis, & Rogerian Argument), 1 graphic essay (instead of proposal argument), and 12 assignments.

He was one of my favorite professors I have had and teachers all around. Very understanding and accepts late work, the assignments are overall very easy as long as you're attending class and even if you do miss, it's not hard to catch up.

If you want a fun, easy class I cannot recommend Professor Clanton's class enough. He changes the theme of his class every semester, because his goal seems to be to get the students to engage with the material in their own way as much as possible. He's very open minded, accepts late work, and grades fairly. Fantastic class, would take again.

Never thought I'd love an English class, but professor Clanton proved me wrong. The books we read were very intriguing and made the essays enjoyable (ikr). Some English professors like to teach their class about bs, not Clanton--I believe it's that kind of class that you can take from out into the real world.

There was a lot of reading in this class, but the reading is enjoyable. Discussions were fun and I felt it was a way to interact with other classmates. Best professor at Delta I've taken so far. Easy work, isn't a harsh grader. You're able to turn in late assignments, as long as you do them you get full credit. If you don't pass something might actually be wrong with you.

In this course, we watched movies and learned about directors' intent when using cinematic effects. He is highly understanding and will grant extensions. He offers extra credit for great analysis.

Absolute best professor! My 2nd time taking him. Easiest grader&accepts late work with no deductions so don't take advantage! he provides in class participation points, show up, complete all work you'll easily pass. 2 easy essays & homework too. The final was given in 3 options very simple. he allowed essays to be resubmitted for a better grade!

I had to retake my ENG 1B for credit, this is a GREAT TEACHER! Of course you have to show up to get points in his class, but he is peer friendly and his lectures are extremely fun and very easy to understand. In my opinion it is very hard to fail his class but if I had to retake his class I would 100% retake his class over and over again!

Professor Clanton is a great guy. He lets you submit late work without getting penalized and also lets you resubmit your essays to get a higher grade. He provides great examples on pretty much every assignment. The workload can get a little heavy at times because he'll assign various assignments for the week but nothing you can't do.

The class was easy but lots of reading since its from story to screen. We read a book each week and then watched the move translationa week later and wrote assignments based on the book or/and movie. He isn't a tough grader and provides great feedback, and replies to emails back. the class isn't hard but you will have 2-3 assignments each week!

Professor Clanton accepts late work which gives students a breather from deadlines but definitely have to stay on top of these since there are new assignment every week. The work overall is not difficult, simply a bit time consuming. Highly recommend!

Gives you credit for late work. 2 discussions a week, and around 3 essays with other work thrown in. Read 3 books. Just commit to the class, and it shouldn't be overwhelming. The professor gives good feedback and is kind.

One of the best english professors i have ever encountered. He understands that we have a life outside of school and he always makes sure to give us enough time to do our work. He even lets you turn things in late and you still get full credit. It's not hard to achieve a good grade in his class as long as you do the work you'll be fine.

The course was only 8 weeks, so it was challenging. With that said, I liked most of the material, though I am not a huge fan of poetry or Tupac. The Road was very descriptive and you could make a lot of connections to today's environment and I could connect personally to The House on Mango Street. When I had trouble, the professor helped me on Zoom

English 1001: The class was happiness themed. I enjoyed reading the book about what makes people happy in other countries. The Graphic Essay at the end of the semester was a creative alternative to a normal final. Would take other classes with him.

Super awesome professor, very flexible as well as understanding. He is super down to earth and will work with you. By far my favorite professor I have had the privilege of having a class with, super helpful and communicative. If you're looking for a professor that cares and wants to see you succeed, this is your guy.
