Knows a lot abut psych but sometimes gets off topic. when he's on topic though you'll learn a lot
Unless you are an Psychology major don't take this guy cuz he is way to tough for a class. Requers a field study :( in order to pass his class
No Comments
Ok teacher, lectures are pointless,of the four tests there is a oral, take home, and the final is open notes which is easy, only bad part is the formal experiment that has to be done to pass
hard class
He's a nice guy. The class may seem tough, but if you pay attention and do the work, it ends up being great.
I thought he was so boring! I don't know where you guys get that he was hard. Read the book and you can do the tests in your sleep. Lecture is pointless. I switched from a psych major cuz I though it was so boring!
GREAT TEACHER!I dont know why people think that he is boring, he adds a fun element to the class by going further than needed. He applies the lessons to real life things which make them easier to comprehend. he may have a monotone sometimes but who doesnt
good teacher, nice guy... hes not hard
His class is really boring but as far as you submitt your work properly, he don't really care much. Just prepare for the work he gives. That's it!! Don't attain the class.
good teacher, nice guy. easy to pass his class... but in order to do so u have to do your work!!
I did NOT find Mr. Clarke's class boring. The experiment he assigns is as interesting as you make it, & a great opportunity to learn about human behavior firsthand. I also found his lectures interesting, but then I am intrinsically motivated to learn this stuff. I don't need a song & dance to learn.
A very good instructor. He is very fair and helpful, his tests are reasonable. The first one is just to scare away students. And that study project, don't take it too serious, just get it done. If you have trouble stop by his office and he will walk you through it.
He was very nice and offered help to anyone who needed it. He was also very understanding with things as long as your brought them to his attention.
This class is really boring specially with this professor. But you can easily pass this class with a really good grades if you just submit the work on time. His exams are easy with the open notes and take home test.

Boring teaching skills, easy grader, as long as you read, take notes and turn in assignments on time. Tests are easy notes are allowed, open book final. DONT SLACK WITH THE PROJECT BIG DIFFERENCE ON FINAL GRADE.

THIS WAS THE WORST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD! HE FAILED OUR GROUP BECAUSE WE MISSED 1 EXTRA SOURCE. WE MADE UP WHAT WE MISSED AND HE STILL FAILED ALL OF US! HE IS A LIAR AND VERY UNFAIR! I RETOOK PSY101 WITH A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR AND GOT A B. GROUP PROJECTS SUCK!
Didn't care for the teacher too much, alot of work on short notice. Not really that organized.
Very nice and fair teacher. The only things I can complain about is that he's a little bit unorganized and his way of teaching is a little boring. His tests are open notes, and the final is open book - so you can get an A if you try. If I had the choice I would take his class again for sure.
great teacher and good guy. i got sic in the class and missed almost a month and he still allowed me to make up what i missed and take the final with no real penalty. i ended up with a B in the class even after missing all that time.
Joke of a teacher. I never paid attention in class or did any of the work. Made up my entire experiment for the group project and got a b. Got nothing out of his class
Professor Clarke is the easiest teacher I've ever had! I took his class in summer school and all of his exams were open note or open book, and they go in order from lesson to lesson. Also, it doesn't matter if you miss a class. I got over 100% in the class.
Great professor. Lots of reading, tests, quizzes and lecturing. He gives very clear instructions. I give him an "A."
good guy... good teacher... pretty easy but you still will learn alot..... i took his class in summer and got an A because he gave us an extra credit paper thatwould raise our grades 5%...... but we never had open note quizzes or tests like other people say....his class can get boring but i would say take it for sure
Good teacher, department chair so u know he knows his****. the project is huge but is REALLY easy to complete as long as u put in some effort. tests are difficult but u get 2 4"X6" NOTECARDS that u can write anything on...jus type all ur notes in 8pt font and paste em on. final and last test were TAKE HOME!!! he's a nice guy and will help with any
He is the best techer and an easy teacher.
I took his summer class. There were 3 quizzes, four exams and one group project worth 25% of your grade. The lowest quiz score was dropped and one of the exams was a take-home. The group project is made up of a written report and an oral presentation. He lectures more than discusses so be prepared to take notes. Exams aren't hard if you study.
I think he is a great teacher.I had him during the summer and he was an easy grader. I would highly recommend him because his quizzes are open book and if you take notes in class u should do fine on the exams. He also gives other assignments.
Great proffesor! Do your work, come to class and pay attention, and you`ll get good grade.
He was a good teacher to begin with... lectures were clear and helpful as were his quizzes and exams. But the when my group screwed me over on the final project he asked me about it (saying he just wanted to make sure the points given were fair) i was honest with him and not only did he dock their grade, but mine as well. I lost respect after that
He's really laid back. He lets you use note cards on the exams. The quizzes are straight from the lecture notes. There's no final, but in place is an exam on the last chapters covered. There is also one take home exam. There's a project worth 25% of your final grade, but it is really simple. He's one of the best teacher's I've had.
Don;t know why everybody is saying how easy and simple his tests are. I love reading but, he needs some kind of work sheets to study with. He seems like a nice guy but, he plays favorite students games. I don't think he truly cares about how good you are doing unless your getting A's.
gives 10? quiz week before test same ?s on test, 2 note cards for tests. how much more can u ask 4. only real work is group project but if u do it you will get a B.
This guy is super easy. If you do not get an A in his class, you are basically dumb. 2 notecards that you can write your notes for each test. 4 quizzes and lowest one is dropped. 4 exams and one is take home. Exams are easy if you study for an hour and use the notecards. 25% of grade is group experiment. Just spend a little time on it, its an A.
he is a great teacher ,, has a great big heart .. if you need help just ask and you shall receive,, very nice guy .. must take his class
Frequently late to class. The lectures could be better and he could give worksheets to study, but as long as you keep up with the reading and study at least an hour, you should get an A. he's generally a very nice guy.
I found it really difficult to enjoy psychology in this class. He goes off on tangents that end up taking 20+ minutes and usually leaves the class confused. The notes are really helpful, there are only two tests, no homework. It was an interesting class but I would suggest a different professor.
Very hard class. Lots of reading & remembering. In addition, we had 2 do a group project - independent research based on couple articles which we had to find. In addition, you would have 2 write couple of papers. He allows notes during exam & many questions from quizzes repeated. Meanwhile he is a good teacher & if u study u should get a good grade
Nice teacher, talks about his 3 kids a lot. Usually running late. Easy to talk to. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IN THE SUMMER. It's not hard as long as you show up & read the book! 1 BIG group project, 2 papers, several quizes & 4 test. Not very organized so he gives the hw info a bit late & 8 wks is not enough time. Other than that he knows his stuff.
he is seriously a sweet and caring guy.He doesnt want to give people bad grades, just some kids put not effort in what so ever. Take notes, because they are on the quizzes. You use notecards on tests and group project is pretty easy. good guy.
Great teacher. Took his class over the summer and got an A. Work hard on the group project because it is 25% of your grade.
Very helpful and understanding. Most of the time was at least 5-10 minutes late, but always got out early. All quiz questions were on exams so you knew half the exam already. Group project is 25% of grade and lots of work. Can have notes on exams, he will take questions off the exams if too many people got them wrong. A bit scattered in thoughts.
I came in excited to learn psychology and left less enthused. For the final grade I got a "C", but then I emailed him and he said he had "lost" my final. He "found" it and I ended up with an A in the class. that just shows you how unorganized he is. the class was interesting but frustrating because of his unorganization.
Extremely kind teacher. Will go out of his way to help any student. Read the book, do the homework, participate in class and you will pass.
Outstanding Professor. Learned a great deal from him.
Highly recommend Mr.Clark. Psychology 101 was one of my favourite classes during Spring semester.
DON'T TAKE! I took his class because he got good reviews on here and I was extremely let down. He's terrible. very unorganized and lost my paper, along with 4 others. As well as 3 midterms. He vents about how unhappy he is with life for entire class periods. He is torture to listen to. DON'T TAKE HIM!
I took class with this professor because he got such good reviews. He's a very nice man but this class is horrible and DRAGS. He takes forever to tell stories and goes off on way too many tangents. Not a fan.
good teaching, very easy going. allows flashcards for exams and does not ask questions about topics ha has not talked about
Hes pretty easy going in the summer we could use note cards on tests and plus we had one take home test. We had a group experiment project at the end, ours was the worst in the class but we still got a B on it. It was a night class so I think he understood we were really busy working during the day I got a B in the class.
He was a great teacher! I didn't take a Psychology class in high school, and I found the subject to be very easy. Quizzes and tests are easy, even if you don't study. He offers lots of extra credit, and allows note cards on tests. He relates topics to the real world, which makes them easy to understand. Take him!
I was ahead of everyone else with psych since I took it in high school. Quizzes are super easy and tests are straight forward. Get to use two notecards on exams. You don't really need the book unless you don't go to class since every class is a lecture from a powerpoint. Offers alot of extra credit. Final exam is only on the last three chapters.
Eventhough he gives you the quiz and the questions will be on the exam. He will allow One extra credit assignment 8 pages long. Not lots of extra credit like previously posted. He's boring so reading the books will help pass his class. Pass on him if I were you.
He is very helpful and genuine. I learned a lot from his class. I strongly recommend him. He is a great teacher.
He is a great teacher. Very genuine and helpful. I learned a lot from his class. I really enjoyed his class!!
If you do the mypsylab which costs round $60(forgot the exact amount), an A. if you don't, you receive B. Mypsychlab is like, mandatory.. really helps you boost your grade and tests. one research paper, allow you bring 2 note-cards front and back for the test.one take home exam. teaches with power-points.
IF you are interested in Psychology as a major, I would NOT recommend him there are better teachers. However, if you need Psych as a requirement I would recommend him. We use the book a lot too, I would recommend getting it.
This class is far too easy and I honestly learned nothing new. If you actually want to learn something and have an interesting class, I recommend trying a different teacher. If you just need this for an elective and want a very easy teacher, then I would recommend him. Also, the required MyPsychLab is never used.
Awesome teacher! He is very accommodating to late work and will answer any question you have (and at times more than what the answer calls for). He does not typically take attendance. He grades fairly easily even though he refuses to use Blackboard for posting grades. If you need to take a psychology course, LOOK FOR THIS GUY!!!
This is a great class, I enjoyed it and the textbook was really useful, also he have a power point which if you go through it, the questions from the quizzes and exams are all there. Not intimidating and very helpful when you need some help. I'm just starting out my college and I recommend Mr. Clarke. Just listen to him, the answer are all there!
EASY class. he doesn't care much about anything. First month of school we were still barely starting class. Don't really need the book. I didn't learn anything new. Take it with him if you are not going into Psychology and just need this class.
My only complaint is that he refuses to put grades online and can't answer a simple question by e-mail. You need to see him in person for any little concern.
His class is very disorganized, and he didn't over every chapters. He gave us a take home quiz which is about 2 chapters that he didn't teach, and assumed he had taught. For the last 2 chapters, he just clicked over the PowerPoint. Also, there is a 2-people project. Anyway, he make the class boring, and he blamed the bad grades on students.
If you want to be bored out of your mind take his class! ! He is very unorganized! He goes off on tangents way too much! His lectures basically are him reading PowerPoint word for word and going off on tangents in between! !
Assigns readings, but goes over what will be on the tests in class. Periodically gives quizzes using questions from the tests so if you get them wrong you will (hopefully) you won't on the second try. Very helpful with research assignment.
He is very nice, very open to people if you have any question on your research, he is open to everybody not minding your color or were you came from, unlike other lecturer that don't like blacks, I did not regret taking his classes, and I will recommend him to any student that want to register for psychology 101. He is like a father an a lecturer.
The materials taught in class were very interesting overall. He is very respectful, considerate and will do his best to help you succeed in class. Papers assigned are very easy (just don't do it last minute) and he gives you a lot of options to write about. Sometimes, lectures are boring but if you read the book and submit work you will def get an A
Seems nice and down to Earth, but his class was very boring. I fell asleep in almost all of his lectures- and had little bruises from trying to pinch myself to stay away. Very vague about deadlines- but thoroughly went over the power points he showed the class- which are also available online. Its okay for a Gen Ed. Don't take if you LOVE Psych.
He was a GREAT teacher. As long as you show up and put the work in you will pass. He's a very nice guy!!Very good at what he does! My advice for this class is to read the chapters before the lecture. It will help you in the long run. He doesn't take attendance but I would recommend to show up sometimes he will offer extra credit. Enjoyed this class
He is a very nice man, but grades the papers at a higher level than a 101 course. He doesn't teach at a higher level, but grades like you are in a 200's course. I was frustrated with this. YOU MUST READ THE CHAPTERS in order to do well with tests. There is no idea what grades are until you see them on the transcripts. FRUSTRATING
Terribly unclear about what he is looking for in a project/essay. Doesn't post grades online and goes off on irrelevant tangents.
Professor Clarke was extremely boring. I took him over the summer and could barely stand sitting there listening to him lecture. His lectures were completely irrelevant to the tests. Tests are just questions from PP's, only a few papers that were very easy. Read the book if you're actually looking to learn something from this class
This was definitely one of my favorite classes for my first semester of college. The class is designed more in the traditional sense of a lecture setting. If you pay attention to the lectures and read the chapters as well, you'll be fine. His grading and teaching are straight forward. You basically cover three chapters at a time followed by an exam
Easy, nice, and understanding!!! great material!
Typical lecture, quiz, test. I was bored and Psy 101 should be interesting.
Worst teacher ever wouldn't recommend taking him to anybody. He does't teach, goes off topic about nothing, doesn't upload grades, very disrespectful when you speak to him about your grade. He comes off as a cool teacher in the beginning but he's ... garbage.
Lectures are long and can be boring. All of his lectures go off your textbook, so as long as you read the chapters you'll be fine. His exams are specifically from the chapters for that unit. There's a long research essay near the end of the semester and he grades it pretty tough, so be prepared for that. Overall, he was a helpful and nice teacher.
This class was an easy A. He just lectures from slides which didn't make the class very interesting. He is very nice and all, but his teaching style wasn't the best. I never really used the book, so save your money only the online program is needed.
I like this professor, helping me a lot in the course.
Prof. Clarke is a great, traditional professor. He isn't going to put on a show for you--he's going to lecture, assign readings and projects, give exams, and expect that you are an adult and can learn without a Sesame Street presentation. If you don't like that, forget about a 4 year school. Frankly I wish more classes were taught so directly.
Prof. Clarke's presentations are a bit vanilla. The class seemed more interesting when he went off on slight tangents. As a human being, he is a great person. He is very understanding if you are going through tough times in your life.
Professor Clarke was very bland. He repeats a ton of stuff and all of the lectures are online so taking notes is not even very necessary. The class was super easy, but be careful not to procrastinate on the final research report project! Super easy to put it off, but you'll thank yourself if you get started on it sooner rather than later.
Ad long as you study for the tests you should be able to do pretty well in the course. He lets you use 2 note cards for every test. Caring teacher, passionate about PSY.
Professor Clarke is an amazing professor. He expects a bit more from his students, but is a fair grader on exams and papers. He cares about his students gaining a good perspective on not only psy101 material, but how to be a responsible college student. He is always accommodating and willing to help you out if you need it. Highly recommend him.
He really does care about the subject, but simply fails to actually teach it. He goes off on large tangents so be ready to teach yourself. Multiple and full essays for tests. Really sucks keeping up with putting grades in. Calls on you even if you haven't raised your hand. Lots of extra credit which was one of the only good things about this class.
Clarke is a good psychology professor, he definitely is passionate about this field. But he is somewhat disorganized and his lectures are kind of boring. But overall he isn't bad!
Clarke was great. He explained everything well by providing real life examples and gave his student a good amount of time to complete homework. Exams are a bit hard but you have to read and he even does a review before the exams. He offers extra credit which is not hard at all! Very caring. Non judgmental. He loves Psychology.
maybe it was a bad semester but he seems to have overwhelmed himself with the # of classes he's teaching & didn't spend time to help students individually. Seemed to criticize the students for his inability to stay organized. (refused to respond to e-mails that didn't have the course section in the subject, grades were submitted to blackboard late)
This was a very weird class. The lectures are pretty boring and the prof was alright. Very nice guy but nothing was clear. It took him 2 months to grade our tests and he doesn't put grades up. All the tests are questions that he gives you before and 2 papers and 1 oral. Weird class. He is a very nice guy though
Professor Clarke clearly understands basic concepts of psychology. The problem is, he spends most of the class talking about his personal life or getting off-topic. Sometimes, he treats students as if they are in high school and it distracts from the lecture. I would suggest more videos and more interaction between the students and the professor.
He is very unorganized. Takes forever to grade. You never know what your grade is. You need to read a whole book and you need to read the text book. The papers are 7 to 9 pages and then the second paper is 5 to 7 pages. Tests were take home. He is never clear on what he really wants in the tests. Hes nice but not a good teacher.
I took his class in the summer so I guess it had a less intense atmosphere. Lectures are kind of scattered and sometimes seems as if hes kinda talking to himself - which I personally found frustrating. DONT let him catch you using your phone because he will not hesitate to call you out. HW is online - no need to take notes as he posts PPTs.
Lectures tend to go off topic, never enters grades in makes you keep test until end of semester so you dont get to know your grade
Personally, I really disliked this professor. I was hoping for someone more passionate about this subject and was hoping to learn something new. Turns out, that's not the case. He takes his sweet time and either brushes over things or rambles about the same topic for the whole lecture. Oh, and did I mention he never finishes on time?
I took him for PSY101 and i thought that he was an ok teacher his very lecture heavy and sometimes he would go off topic and will talk about one topic for a long period of time. but he gives out study guides before each test, if you make an effort in the class you will pass , you can tell that he wants everyone to pass
Although he's very lecture heavy, his homework on the E-Connect textbook is very similar to his lectures and tests. His study guides are very important because it's what is on the text. He lets you use notecards on the test which can be very useful! He's very nice and accessible out of class.
good class.
Lectures are pretty easy to follow and they're interesting. Professor Clarke doesn't like technology in class. He cares about his students and is really easy to talk to!
Very clear with expectations from the beginning! He gives all the information in time, gives opportunity for make up quiz! Attend all of his classes, read the book and follow his clear-simple rules and you will finish this class with A! If not you are the only one whom to blame for it! I wish all teachers to be simple and easy to follow as him!
Even tho it wasn't an online course, we will do everything online and go to the lecture for him to be talking about his life rather than the topics we are supossed to discuss. The class was from 6:00-9:30 and it will always start at 6:15 and finish around 7:00-7:45.
Take Clarke if you want to get an A without learning anything. He's late more mornings than not. VERY power point heavy. Tests seem to barely connect to the learned material. Appreciated the easy points from the VERY easy online textbook homework. Cool midterm experiment! Protip: Just skip the hour-long pre class (not worth it)
Yo, this guy was mad cool. He made psychology great! He was accessible, relatable and easy going. I was going through a crazy time in my life, his lectures made me forget all about my problems and or reflect on them and understand why we do the things we do as humans.
You don't really learn much in the class,he has you conduct a case study as a psy 101 class without teaching you anything and gets mad when you don't do it write. He is super rude and will call out students. It's like he wants students to not succeed. Hard tests. In order to do well you need to have knowledge of ap psych in highschool.
You can put no effort upfront and still pass his class. I learned absolutely nothing new. He never put forth any lectures, all you had to do was click through the textbook. Even within the exams, he encouraged you to use open book. If you are looking for an easy A class where you don't learn much, his is the one to take.
I took this class online, and it was not too hard at all. You completed one assignment sometimes two per week, and it was not difficult to get done in a timely manner.
Professor Clark was pretty easy, just read most parts of the textbook and take some notes if you want help with the homework. I took the class online, and the website we used for homework would have about a 3 question penalty for wrong answers. (kinda annoying). Take him if you want an easy grade!
