Cozza is absolutely amazing! Because he uses power points, there is no reason to have the book... at all. TAKE Cozza. He even gives study guides.

He is a very nice professor; he combines different sources to keep you updated with Biology. However, do not waste your time reading the book. His tests are based on his powerpoints, whihc are mostly visual. It is crucial to take amazing notes or record if you want an A. He does not curve.

Cozza is amazing. He will take his time to explain, makes himself available during office hours & is ADORABLY enthusiastic. If you're struggling, he will explain until you get it. Very sweet & patient. Do not be absent, TAKE NOTES on his ppts. Exams are easy if you do. Don't bother buying the book. (Btw he doesn't curve b/c most people do well.)

I had him for bio 2 and I would definitely recommend him. He gave study guides which really helped for the tests. He doesn't go by the book, however you will still learn. Overall, very good at lecturing and fair tests.

He always makes himself available for questions during office hours. Take him. Do not take combined class with another professor, as the other professor's teaching style is very different.

Very sweet professor! I had him for the first half of the semester and I really enjoyed him. He speaks clearly and helps you understand. His exams are easy but what helps me is that I record the lecture and do the study guides he has. The exam is lecture based. It is not mandatory to go to class but it is helpful. Take him!

Great professor! He is really enthusiastic and really cares about his students passing. Makes study guides when he can, extra office hours,tells you what is important on test (general ideas not specifics) and if you go to class and take good notes you'll pass. I'll miss him!! Questions on his exams are drawn entirely from the lecture material. And his lectures are GREAT and entertaining. His study guides (while long) is practically the test verbatim. Go to class. Listen. Laugh at his jokes. Do the study guide. His (mostly pictures) slides are online. Print them out and take little notes. Easy.

Dr. Cozza is SUCH an amazing guy! He is great at answering questions you have, and he's very nice about it. Open to discussing just about anything. He teaches very well too, and there was so much extra credit it was imposible to do badly in the class. I got an A and I didn't really work that hard, just went to PLTL and studied what he said to study

One of the best Biology Profs at FIU. He is always there for his student. Going to class can give you up to 15%. His exams come from his power points, but his power points are mostly pictures; you actually have to go to class to get the notes. If you go to every class and take time to study, you should get an A on all the exams.

One of the best professors I've had at FIU. His lectures are great and he keeps everyone involved with interactive lessons. He is knowledgeable, passionate about the subject, and very easy to communicate and talk to! However, attendance is mandatory as tests are based almost entirely off his lectures. Had him for General Biology and Ecology. He teaches Ecology better. His exams come straight from his lectures, so attendance is CRUCIAL in order to get a good grade. Study powerpoint and lecture notes, and you should be fine.

I don't like the way he teaches because he goes by his powerpoints,& I prefer the book. If you study off powerpoints, you'll pass the class with an a or b.

Cozza is amazing! He uses powerpoints to teach off of and although attendance isn't mandatory, he uses information from the powerpoints a LOT more than the book for the exams. Still read the book in order to understand the concepts a little bit better. He keeps the students engaged with clicker points and asking a question and see what people say.

He's a great professor, tests are very easy and usually gives points away if he thinks questions are faulty. Clicker points and PLTL are very helpful. Hardly attended lecture and still got a B in his class. However I read the textbook although its not recommended.

His exams aren't very hard so long as you memorize the information in his powerpoints. The quiz questions come from the book so you need to read. As long as you study from the powerpoints and take advantage of his extra credit opportunities its really hard not to get at least a B in this class.

I see that most people have taken him for Biology so I wanted to comment on behalf of the Evolutionary Ecology class. It was an incredibly interesting class and not difficult. There was a LOT of outside reading to do - weekly chapters and several scientific articles to read. However, he tests concepts, not specifics. Great class, I earned an A.

Dr. Cozza is extremely eager to teach and to help students who seek it. He is always in a good mood and never hesitates to answer a question. He presents the information calmly and willingly. I really enjoy his teaching style. I try to get him for every science class he teaches and that I need.

I took Professor Cozza for BSC 1010 and BSC 1011. I can honestly say, despite him being a sort of hard professor, that he is totally worth it. If you pay attention during lecture and take note then just review the material before the exam there is not reason why you shouldn't do okay. He's also funny and keeps lecture interesting.

Cozza is a funny guy he cares about his students and his class is just 4 exams and a final which you can opt of out by taking one of the many extra credit opportunities. Along with the 4 exams there are weekly walk in the park quizzes to ensure you read which does help. His lectures are interesting power points and thats where the tests come from.

Dr. Cozza has weekly office hours, responds to e-mails rather quickly, uses PPTs fro his lectures (which are key--those are literally his exams!), and he's clear about the material. He makes you understand even the toughest subject. Overall, he is a great professor. Take him! You won't regret it.

Get ready for what I call mental boot camp. Dr. Cozza will challenge you in ways you did not think were possible. Complicated scientific journal, graphs will haunt you throughout the semester. At times I cried, felt hopeless and doubted my every answer choice. In the end however, he is an amazing professor and in the end it was worth the effort.

Dr. Cozza is a great professor. He's not tough at all. If you actually study and go to his lectures you'll be fine. I never read any of the chapters in the book and passed the class with an A. All you have to do is record him and study his powerpoints. He's not rude AT ALL, I greatly recommend him if you're gonna be a mature college student.

Took him for BSC1010 AND BSC1011. Got a D and then B! Difference was PLTL. Such a helpful teacher when it comes to learning but I had a 69.4 and he couldnt bump it up to a C. He's not in charge with grading but a lot of people were at the margin but he didn't have a bonus question on the test or something? Ortega did and it helped! But it's okay

He is such a passionate teacher and he cares about his students, however his powerpoints are super vague, its mainly made up of pictures so be prepared to read the textbook. He say is powerpoint are his review guide,but when it is time to study for a test you can't just study pictures. He does interactive learning in class which is helpful.

Prof Cozza is such a sweetheart! he's always willing to help you and his lectures are no boring at all. He'll crack jokes now and then making the class funny. Gives tons of extra points through iClicker questions. PLTL replaces your final. I'm taking him for ecology again, and ill take as many classes as I can with him! got a B in the class.

Great teacher, took for both 1010 and 1011. I received a B in both, but I studied a collateral of approximately 20 hours for both combined. That goes to show that if you study a little more, you're guaranteed an A. He is super funny and all the girls like him (not because of looks) but because he has a killer personality.

I took this professor for 3 consecutive semesters, for BSC 1010, BSC 1011, and PCB 3043. Honestly, if you could take him... TAKE HIM! Exams are just like his lectures and he's always willing to help. Attending class is a must. Tons of opportunities to get a good grade, especially in ecology. Also, do PLTL!!! Definitely reccomend him!

He's very caring and is even willing to stay past his office hours to help you. Use his slides as a study guide to read the book, you do need the book especially for a lot of the clicker questions. DO all of the extra credit because that made the difference between a B+ and an A for me.

Ecology is boring for me, but he made it interesting. Study from his slides and do all the extra credit he gives. It will be worth it and make a difference on the final grade. 2 assignments, clicker, PLTL, and class participation activities are a must. He is passionate about this subject and transmits his great energy to his students.

Best Biology teacher here at FIU. Take him if you have to take General Biology. If you pay attention in class, record his lectures and study his power points you'll do amazing in his class. Didn't even need the textbook.

Fall 2013 I took him for General Biology 1. He is awesome, he makes his lectures fun and hes always smiling and answers questions without making you feel dumb, and he is always available at his office hours. He is an awesome professor and by far one of my favorites so far at FIU!

If you pay attention in lecture then study his power-points you will do fine on the exams. At office hours he's kind and very helpful. He also brings a sense of humor to his lectures and applies it to things students can relate to. Exams are straight from lectures.

You must attend the lectures! His tests are straight out of his lecture and powerpoint! His tests are fair and easy if you go to class, as long as you know your material from his powerpoints very well, you will get an A in the class. Evo Eco with Cozza was interesting. In a sense that he is passionate about teaching and at the same time he fails to grade his assignments on time. Expect to re-read the book a few times and have clickers. If you have free time, take this class, he will give you busy work.

i would definitely want to take Cozza again. i have had him twice already and he really did a great job both semesters. Always study from his power points and it's extremely beneficial to record his lectures. Cozza is a very chill dude and he definitely invests himself in the class and the students. His tests aren't hard and the final is optional unless you miss a test. Overall, if you pass all the tests with a B and do some extra credit along with some of the home work you should be fine and while skipping class and passing (like me) try to attend.

I never would have imagined I would receive an A in Biology. Cozza's style of teaching is unlike any other professor I've ever had. You will either love it or hate it. No in between. Tests are based on slides he makes and they often include things not in the book. Cozza's just wants you to learn the big picture. Go to his office hours!

All you need to do to get through this is: 1. Go to class. 2. Take notes in regards to his powerpoints. Thats all you need. If you study from the book you'll fail, it should only be used as a reference at most. His first two exams were very easy. the other two were a lot of self teaching and with no clear guidelines to what he wanted you to know. don't bother taking notes during class just pay attention really well. record the lectures and then take notes. powerpoints are just pictures without lecture you're lost.

He's very passionate about his subject. His powerpoints are picture-based and in order to pass, you must study from his powerpoints. The textbook was required for mastering bio and to look up concepts that were unclear. However, you do not have to read it in order to get an A in the class (Strongly recommended that you do though)

He is honestly the most incredible professor I've had yet. Not only is he super passionate about biology, but he passes on that love to his students by making biology make sense and easy to understand. He is super willing to help you at any time, any place. Go to EVERY single one of his classes, study, and you are guaranteed a good grade!

Professor Cozza is a great professor who know a lot about biology. However, he is very lecture heavy and you MUST attend all the classes to pass his exams. In addition, PLTL is also required and often can help in retaining topics which would be on the exam coming up. Beware though that his powerpoint are just pictures and you must record him.

he's an awesome professor that likes what he does. every slideshow was well done and cared enough to explain every concept. he was very accessible through email and responded all my questions. he's a funny guy and tries to make biology interesting and current with modern articles and research he briefly explains. overall the class isn't very hard.

Cozza was an amazing teacher who really tries to help his students pass and understand the material. His tests were based mostly on his power points and what he lectured on, so you have to go to class, but he really helps you understand the material.

He's really enthusiastic and is pretty lenient with grading tests (curved grading) and gives a lot of clicker extra credit. Show up to make the most of it. If the content is hard, it's because biology is a hard subject, not Cozza's fault. He's very energetic.

Dr. Cozza is an excellent professor and is very passionate about what he teaches. He will go out of his way to help anyone that needs help in his classes. As long as you pay attention and study his PowerPoints, you will get an A whether you are in his Gen Bio I, 2, or Ecology class. I really recommend him and if he offers a practice exam, use it!!

Honestly, I did not put the effort. But this class was by far my favorite one. I truly learned and enjoyed the class! This prof is sweet, caring, and a lovable guy. He gives practice exams. Clickers are EC. I had him in CORONA and exams were open notes and lockdown. With PLTL being extra credit, I got a 99% overall.

I love Dr. Cozza, his senior seminar class is straight to the point, no random assignments that have nothing to do with your final paper just an outline, a detailed outline, your references, and a short presentation and all these help right your paper. He extends deadlines and he helps a lot in office hours he's super nice

Loved this class. Like most reviews here say, this class is a breeze for bio 2 and the lectures were super interesting as well. Tests end up being 75% of your grade but the tests are very easy and it's all stuff covered from lecture. Good luck! One of the easier A's to get.

Professor Cozza is the MAN! Every Wednesday is the weekly assignment (3-4 sentences). The assignment is very EASY. He gives out A LOT of EXTRA CREDIT. There are four exams. The fourth exam is difficult and one STUDY GUIDE. The exam is based on his powerpoints, clicker question, and videos you watch in class. The class is so EASY and FUN.

Dr. Cozza is so passionate about Biology and really makes it so enjoyable. Not having him as a professor is absolutely regrettable. Teaches and tests students on the big picture! Exams are lecture based + required videos and readings. Easy weekly Wednesday HW (4-7 sentences). Study guide given for final. Tons of EC. Can't fail. GO TO OFFICE HOURS.

Cozza loves giving participation points and extra credit opportunities. I've taken him twice (bio 1&2) and he genuinely wants his students to pass. He suggests reading the book but you could get by with just attending class and skimming his powerpoints. Tests have extra credit too and the LAs are always happy to help.

Dr. Cozza is a great professor--he's passionate about the topic and makes a lot of effort in his lectures. He is easily the kindest undergrad professor I've ever had, and he is very understanding. He recorded every lecture and provided them for us, and though he preferred us to be in class, attendance was only really "mandatory" on Wednesday.

Incredibly Easy! 3 Midterms, 1 Final, homework every two weeks(consists of 3-6 sentences only). Many opportunities for extra credit! Come to class often & review the practice tests thoroughly & you will pass this course easily. Even lets you bring a hand-written cheat sheet to every single exam! Amazing, I would take him again in a heartbeat.

His lectures come off as confusing at first but once you get to know how he functions then the class becomes very easy. He doesn't want his students to memorize and only asks that you know the big picture. Tests are more vague than specific.

John Cozza is an amazing lecturer and makes his classes fun & engaging. BUT his tests ARE HARD. Even though he will allow you one cheat sheet front and back, I guarantee no matter what you put on that sheet, it will not be useful on the test. Great guy though. Participation activities once a week and you have to take a second online course.

Cozza is the most kindest and passionate professors at FIU! He doesn't assign homework except one participation assignment per week (graded by effort). He gives a fair amount of extra credit too. His exams are purely lecture based and he uploads his lectures in case you missed class etc. I slacked off a bit in his class, but great professor!

This class is super easy to pass if you just may attention to the lectures. He gives a lot of extra credit based on the iclickers points. The tests aren't hard and you can have a note sheet to help you out during it. AND if you need help he is always available he really does his best for everyone to pass.

You will have to put effort in but he makes the process easy by providing slides with links to explain topics more indepth and makes his exam expectations very clear. There is a lot and I mean a lot of extra credit to be had. Put care and attention in and you will get an A.

Took it in the 6 week summer course it honestly wasn't that difficult. I never read the book just went to class and did all the required assignments. I went over my powerpoint notes and the practice exams and got a 90 or higher in very test. I recommend going to office hours if you don't get something.

Professor Cozza is a caring and passionate instructor who makes the material engaging. Exams are challenging but the ample extra credit and study tools like unstuckstudy ai help make this class manageable. Definitely recommend for STEM students.

King Cozza is the most passionate professor you will meet. He cares about you, your grade, and the environment. He knows his stuff and loves teaching it. Would recommend him to any kind of student!!!

Cannot believe this man does not have a rating of 5/5. He was the best lecturer. Exams are exactly what he goes over in class. Not only does he teach, but he tries to shape students into more caring human beings. I wish I could take more classes with him.

Mr. Cozza is such a cutie patootie. He's a great teacher, provides good examples, and real-life applications. He really does care, and makes even the most boring lectures engaging. Tests are kinda tough, but he's a great prof and allows cheat sheets. One of my favs he's so silly.

Prof. Cozza made Bio 1 interesting, and most importantly, engaging. His lectures are always fun, especially as the semester ends when more interesting topics are touched upon. There is plenty of extra credit opportunities, making it difficult to fall behind. Tests are mildly stressful, but you have access to a 1-page "cheat sheet". Take Cozza!!!

You can tell he cares about the students and he enjoys what he's doing! Exams are based on his lectures/Powerpoints + 1 handwritten note sheet per exam. The workload isn't too bad since I only had to do a weekly participation activity and PLTL aside from the exams. There were plenty of extra credit opportunities offered.

as a science hater, he made me like science and made the concepts super easy to understand. if you review after every lecture and apply yourself, the class will be an easy A for you

Dr. Cozza is an excellent professor, very passionate and super helpful. His tests are very hard because they are lecture and PowerPoint based, but the PowerPoint isn't very informative, and the lectures are practically impossible to take notes from. He makes this class about plants when other profs make it more molecular.

One of the best Biology professor. You will have an assignment every week (just a short paragraph) very easy. His exam are based on his lectures/powerpoints and he allows you to bring a one page cheat sheet. I would definitely recommend taking his class!

Ngl, I took this professor just expecting to zone out the entire class (kinda did tbh), but he's actually passionate asf and chill. So you have 3 exam's and 1 cumulative exam (dw tho exams are easy and the cumulative legit can't bring down your grade and ). In terms of hw your barely get any; his class is more so a "study for test" kind of class.

Class was pretty easy, LOTS of extra credit. The powerpoints and class structure made it hard to make notes or learn the work. I recommend just attending class and listening for a good grade. The coursework isn't heavy and the exams require some studying. Take PLTL if you enroll in this class. Your grade is locked throughout the class.

Took ecology with him, pretty boring lecture, iclicker questions which will boost your final grade, 3 exams + final, make sure u understand graphs and diagrams from powerpoints, he does provide study guide (not exactly similar like exam but concepts are pretty related)

Such a sweet professor but such a boring class! He does not do a very good job at engaging the class. Do not take this class in 6 weeks as you will struggle heavily, which I sadly learned the hard way. He is very understanding and flexible with assignment due dates.

As a person, he's inspirational and could convince you to plant 30 trees in 30 mins. As a professor, I was lost with his powerpoints because they're mostly pictures. He teaches well, but it's easy to lose track of what he says because sometimes he can go too slow or too fast. Gives extra credit and is VERY lenient. Awesome man.

Professor Cozza is my favorite professor I have ever taken. He single handedly got me to develop a huge love for botany. He is so inspiring and passionate about what he teaches. I would recommend him to anyone looking to take a fun interesting class and learn a lot! In addition, he is a super fair grader and gives extremely helpful feedback.

Took a 6-week course and recommend a longer term. It's doable, he's a great lecturer and great guy, but 3-hour classes 3x a week. So many iClicker extra credits. Gets political (I didn't mind; it was relevant), which bothered some students. He can be intense, but if you give effort, he will care too. Barely any homework. Do the practice exams!!!

An incredible teacher, his lectures are very well done, and if you miss a class, all his lectures are recorded and you have access to them. If you like to read the book, he makes it available for everyone for free in the form of a PDF. I had him as well for ecology and biology 2, he carries his form of teaching over for each course.

Cozza was by far one of the best professors I've taken at FIU. He's extremely caring and passionate about the subject he's teaching. There's iclickers every class that serve as extra credit. The lectures are easy to follow and he uploads the lecture videos online. A sheet of paper for every exam front and back. If you have the chance, take him !!

Best professor EVER. once you find a study strategy this class is genuinely SO easy. He's a great professor who posts lectures online, and exams come straight from the PowerPoints. You get a front-and-back cheat sheet and TONS of extra credit. (And bonus points/questions on exams) If you show up and use his resources, you will do well.

He is literally the sweetest human. I took him for bio1 and 2.I got an A in both.I never showed up to class everrrrr and i still ended with A he does alot of participation activities and his test arent hard but there is alot of content to cover like in any bio class. I then took him for Tropical Botany and hes super understanding!

Genuinely the best teacher you could have for both gen bios and ecology. You definitely have to be there in class for the clicker questions, but other than that, it's a cakewalk. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit too if you need it.
