I took Professor Creighton's class my first semester at Valencia, which was just last year. At the beginning of the semester he makes you read a few chapters from the book and after that you dont use the book at all. You do about 3 speeches the whole semester. Hes open with questions and very helpful. I thought he was a good teacher.

He is a good professor, however, ALL speeches (except one) were to be done in power point. He actually graded the power point slides harder than your actual presentation, so the power point actually matters more than the speaking.He is a nice guy overall and wants you to succeed, I just think the way he grades is odd.

I really enjoyed mr c's class. He's a little weird and a spaz, but he gets his point across and makes public speaking relatively pain free. Also he's pretty funny which helps cas it makes the time go by faster.

Mr. C is awesome! He will give you all the tools you need to give any type of effective spch anywhere you go! Spchs need to follow a format but can be done on any topic, which is great cuz u learn about other ppl's point of view on issues today dat affect us and each other, u may even learn sumthing new. This is the easiest speech class you will ever take! for the first speech he tells you exactly what to say, and the rest after that you use powerpoint so how could you forget! if you are scared of taking speech but need it to graduate this class is the way to go!

Now must people think this class is hard and it is in its ways but Mr.C helps you...he will always be there before or after school! I'm not a great speaker but I learned a lot from him. attendance is extremely mandatory. if you miss more than 4 days then he will drop you from the course. overall he is a pretty good teacher and very easy. only 3 speeches and a couple of quizzes on webct. he tells you basically everything you need to do to pass the class.

BEST SPEECH TEACHER EVER!!! Easy A, even if you are terrified of public speaking. He walks you through each step and gives you chances to practice in class. No test, no final. just 2 speeches. first one is about yourself, second is about an issue u wanna talk about (abortion,oil spill,etc) and thats it class over. very strict on cell phone use, will kick u out on the spot if ur phone makes a sound. if u arrive 15 mins late, u get 1/2 of an absence. but very easy class, i learned to not be nervous in front of a crowd.

All I can say is he was the best teacher I had last semester. He really worked with me on my speeches. I got an 800/800 on my 1st 2 speeches. Just do the work and you'll be fine! He's really nice and makes class interesting.

This guy is the best! I went in dreading speech because I did not want to speak in front of my class. The way Mr.C made you give the speech definitely helped with giving it infront of the class. He made you feel comfortable and confident. Not to mention there were only 3 speechs, little homework and no final exam. What more could you ask for?

If You have to Take speech Take Mr.C, The only class I actually looked forward to (Mainly cuse the Cute Boy I Sat Next To) But Mr.C Is A Fun Guy Who makes the Class interesting & Helps as much as he can. its not just standing infront of a class talking you use powerpoint, which makes it easier more interesting.

I dreaded speech because I have terrible fear of speaking in front of people. Mr.C made it so we all felt comfortable and not shy. It was an amazing class and the only one I looked forward to and I also recommend him to everyone I know that needs to take speech. including my husband!

You give 3 speeches 6-8 minutes long. The second one can be in pairs. There are review questions on WebCT that count as quiz grades where you'll need the textbook but they're common sense questions and you get two shots at getting them right so if you need the money, don't bother with the textbook. Lots of homework but it's helpful. Loved the class

VETERANS ONLY SPEECH CLASS:This is a very helpful class, not only do you get to learn how to give a speech but you get to meet other VETs. He teaches you how to conduct a speech. if will make time for you if you need any help. he will teach you crawl,walk and then run with it.

I highly reccomend Mr. C. You get four speeches through the semester. You can only be absent four times but he is very helpful and wants every student to succeed. I personally wish I can take other classes with him. If you need speech and you feel uncomfortable talking in front of people, TAKE HIM! He truly makes you feel comfortable!

Veterans only class! I highly suggest anyone who has to take a speech class, especially VETERANS take Mr.C. He walks you through and teaches you how to give a speech from beginning to end while giving you confidence to do so.

He was an alright teacher, I didn't think he graded that fairly. With the grading I felt like he didn't take into account how nervous some people get. He'll grade every little thing about your speech. Absolutely no food,cell phones or electronics allowed otherwise you'll be thrown out.

I was Blessed to be able to take Mr. C for Speech Class! Everything that I learned helped me through my many Business Presentations at UCF, stay after and talk to him about your performance or what he expects from you and you'll do great! He still recognizes my face around campus! Take Him!

Mr.C is a great professor, our class was so fun he jokes with us and I had a blast. Here are my recommendations show him your speech's rough draft so he can give you insight on how to get a good grade on it. There is some really easy homework he assigns once in awhile, do it. This class is an easy A, just listen to Mr.C. You will love him.

VETS ONLY. Prof C was my favorite professor ever! Funny, helpful, and compassionate. Mr. C is very reasonable. He gives you every opportunity and tool to achieve the grade you want. Facilitates class participation to keep students interested. Gives you an outline which says EXACTLY what your speech needs to include. Great person, great teacher.

He's a fabulous teacher: funny & helpful when it comes to presenting. As for the class, you have a total of 3 speeches and several quizzes online, but no biggie because you can take them as many times as you want. The speeches are weighted heavily, so make sure you practice and use his office hours to go over them! Want an A? Take him! :) Good Luck

Words cannot describe how amazing this professor is! Not only is he passionate for what he teaches, but goes above and beyond for his students. Take him! Don't look any further, I guarantee it will become 1 of your favorite classes, as well. As a Paramedic and future nursing student I have to take many classes, and by far this is my favorite class!

those who take this class here is my advice always choose yellow if you take class you will understand. Notes in class will help with speech. Speeches are video recorded. Lots of homework. PPT style speech which is must make ppt for speech. In my opinion I did not learn to publicly speak well it was more like a class for how to make ppt. Dont take.

Strong focus on the structure, organization, and framework of a speech. Required to give two informative speeches. Does not teach demonstrative or persuasive types of speeches. Crystal clear and detailed expectations. Inflexible, stands by his word. Funny, caring, genuine, great guy. Good class.

He's a pretty easy teacher to understand and grades pretty fairly. I would highly suggest you take this class. Just keep in mind that the presentations in class are video-recorded and are consisted of mostly powerpoint presentations

Public speaking can be an extremely terrifying event for most individuals. Mr C is a MUST take if you are one of them! One particular student became physically ill and visibly shaken by the THOUGHT of being in front of the group and he took extra time and attention to help her overcome this fear! YOU WANT HIS CLASS!!!!!!!!

Mr. C is an amazing teacher and also very helpful! All you do is 3 speeches, some review questions online (you can retake it as many times as you want), and homework (easy too). If you just follow his instructions how to do a power point for your speech then you will get a good score on it. Very easy class, no finals. Take him!

Fun class if you get into it, and Mr. C is nice if he sees your effort. You do a lot online, and have homework due pretty much every class. Speeches are easy if you follow the outline. He's friendly and approachable if you need extra help. He's not very clear with directions though, so ask lots of questions.

He's fun. If you do the assignments and participate in class, you'll get a good grade. He takes your effort into consideration, and is very clear as to what he expects. That makes it a lot easier! Public speaking can be hard for some people, but you might actually learn something in his class. Take him!

Okay so, I was expecting to learn how to I don't know, give a speech? All I've learned is how to make a PowerPoint. He is very picky. Just follow his rules and you will do fine. Literally follow everything he wants and you will not get points off. It amazes me how some people don't follow his guidelines and get confused on why they have a low grade

He is a picky professor with lots of rules. However he is extremely helpful. Attendance and following directions is the way to pass this class. And don't buy the book it's not useful.

Very good teacher! He is strict when it comes to assignments, attendance, and deadlines. But if you plan ahead and do all the work this is an easy class and fun too. Book is used for online quizzes but i never bought the book.

He will make you work for your grade. That's not a bad thing but if you are lazy and don't keep track of all the homework due you wont fare well in this class. His class is very well organized and everything is explained thoroughly. Just pay attention, watch the videos, read whatever he sends and you'll be fine. He is also friendly and helpful

This teacher is a great guy, he gives great feedback on your presentations and tells it like it is. The class was a breeze with most of the work done online, and the speeches are only difficult if you dont practice them at home. The only difficulty one should have with this class is stage-fright, but after the first speech, that goes away quickly.

He is simply a really special person. He cares about his students and connects with them easily. Whenever you need help with the assignments and speeches, he will be there for you with eyes shining and a calm smile. I am proud and happy to be his student.

Professor Creighton is an amazing professor, just do your work and you'll pass. Carefully read his grading outlines for speeches and compare it to your powerpoints and that'l be an easy A if you just follow his outlines. I suggest you do his homework early too, it's due the first class he has and not on your own. 4 absences and you're kicked out!

Okay, do the work and homework that he assigns and it will set you up perfectly for each speech. Put in some effort for each speech and you good to go. Other than that its an easy but rather boring class. Oh and NO PHONES!

Best professor I've ever had during my 1 and a half years at Valencia. Gives amazing feedback. 15 easy hw assignments, quizzes (unlimited attempts!), and 3 speeches (treat it like a final). Don't use your phone in class (but seriously, DON'T) & don't slam the door. If you read the syllabus and do what Prof. Creighton says, I promise you, easy A+.

This class was OK. Only had to make 3 speeches which were fairly easy, there's a lot of homework however and the due dates are very close together so you must stay on track. Otherwise, good professor, could be a bit better.

I signed up for a different teacher but last minute the school changed the professor. Mr. C was intimidating at 1st but he really is not. He's super nice and knows what he's doing! I would recommend taking his class over the summer because you only have 2 presentations to do and they're are soooo easy!

SPC is great for eradicating your fears of public speaking. Be prepared to practice EVERY DAY the class meets. But, you receive great feedback and pointers from the students and professor. He doesn't tolerate absences or laziness. He is the best in his field so show him respect and don't take his criticism personally.

Prof. Creighton is probably the best professor I have ever had. He cares about us not as students but as people he's trying to mentor and help through life. When it comes to speaking, he is very clear on what you have to do, and all you have to do is follow instructions. The homework can be a bit overwhelming, once you get it organized, it's easy.

Fundamentals of speech was the easiest class I have taken at Valencia. If you do all of the work, you will get an A.

Mr. C is a very strict professor. I got overall 99.5% because I failed to follow one of his rules. He is a tough grader but he is also easily accessible. I spent 3 hours with ZOOM with him (3 times) and he goes through my speech and slide. He even offer ZOOM meeting at 1:00 am because some student works in the morning. Respect him you will pass.

Professor C was such an amazing professor, he cares for his students and does the best he can to make sure they learn from his class. His lectures were very informative and hes hilarious! He provides examples of how he would like assignments done and is very strict on due dates. I would 100% take him again!
