Will discuss punctuation more than material. Ugh.
Avoid at all costs - far too arrogant.

Very challenging, but equally worthwhile. If you want to learn a lot and feel that you really earned that A, he's a great teacher...but not for the faint of heart.
A good, intelligent teacher, but also challenging
He is challenging but fair, makes you work for your grades and is sometimes sort of.. condescending, but i dunno, i liked him.
I would recommend if you want to hear him go off tangents of delusional self-granduer, but he's okay. He is also a little hot.
Why do people keep taking this class? He is good if you are the sucidial type.
Typical conservative white male. Loves to hear the sound of his own voice. Avoid at all costs.
He's tough as nails and a bit condescending but he knows his stuff and what you get is what you earned.
Very tough, but really smart. Learned a lot. Ask him about Doritos

Like another person said... not for the faint of heart... he can be somewhat condescending and rude at times, but he is very intelligent and does give good feedback on papers and assignments. Good for a challenge.
DEVIL IN A BOWTIE!! STAY AWAY!!
Worst class of the year. It became a running gag with that my Honor's class was the class were I learned the least. Avoid Danford like the plague, he pales in comparision to Dr. Miller or Father Tobin.
terrible..can't stand republicans, even in bow ties...wish there was a disclaimer on the course..he reminds me of Mr. Rogers on speed
Cocky. No formal organization to how he teaches whatsoever. Thinks he is doing a favor to students by making his tests nearly impossible.
Can be condescending.. Take him with a grain of salt. No matter what, don't believe him when he calls you illiterate.
hard but fair
just plain aweful. thinks he doing his students a favor by grading harsh. Hey Danford, not all of us can write a book that came out in the 70's and think we are an expert on grammer! Oh yeah, and language does evolve and doesn't get dummer like you think
His style of teaching leaves even the A student of target and feeling like an idiot. Worst prof I have every had at Loyola. His tests are the strangest ones I have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Avoid it at all costs. A nerd in a bow gone power hungry
J.W. Danford is a hardcore badass. He knows he is smarter than his colleauges, and lets you know that too ever so subtly. You will not get a good grade, but you'll end up smarter. Plus, its fun to hear him make fun of...well pretty much everyone.
he is truely a devil in a bowtie. comments that he wrote on my papers: "i know all five words, but it still mystifies me" "take a logic course!" "do we say this? hello?!" he makes everyone feel horrible. AVOID AVOID A
worst prof i've ever had. makes you feel dumb. avoid at all costs!
Won't read your paper if he doesn't like your grammar. My writing got better, but this class was torture. Stay AWAY from his discussion section! Will only make you angry. Ace the final and midterm and you'll get an A.
This man is nuts. He is a genious and he acts like it. He even puts down the other professors that teach this course. He has to like you to get a good grade. Just stay away from him. He is insane.
He is very intelligent and he will make sure you know it. Knows a ton about his subject matter and expects the same of you. Can be very condescending towards students and co-professors.
Danford is one of the FEW professors at Loyola who actually expects hard work and will make you learn at all costs. He is simply excellent. I am a better student and a better person for being taught by him.
Intelligent. An obsessed grammar nazi. He takes bad examples from the papers of those in the class and reads them to the whole class. (He doesn't say whose papers they are, but still) If he used kinder methods to teach grammar, the class would be better.
I dropped out of this class at the beginning of the year because he is very rude, condescending and NEVER talked about the books! Don't take him
Hardest professor you can take, but you will learn plenty if you have the ears for it. He doesnt suffer fools lightly. (And we would criticize you for that missing apostrophe.)
Difficult teacher, and a grammar nazi, but appreciates intelligent thought to the fullest. Most people find him condescending but that's because he doesn't hide the fact he's smarter than us. Take him with a grain of salt. He will teach you a lot.
Professor Danford taught this 100 level class as if it were a graduate course. He is a perfectionist, and you will definitely get your monies worth. Everything else will be EASY !Go to his end of class dinner (It's great !)
I hated him at first, but I grew to love him. He's very condescending, but take it with a grain of salt. Make sure you go to the party and any social event he goes to. He's a riot outside of class!
devil in a bow tie
I loved to hate Dr. Danford. His condescending remarks eventually grow on you. He knows his subject matter and expects you to know it aswell. If you work hard and proof read your papers well you should do fine. I actually learned something from this man.
Fun guy but condescending and arrogant. Pretend you are a student at Oxford to prepare for your grade. Very tough but very intelligent and interesting.
I had him 3 years ago as a freshman, and now, going into my senior year, I still feel prepared for anything because Dr. Danford set the bar for what is expected of college level work. He is tough, but that's how it should be. You will learn a great deal
This man is completely crazy! He is full of himself and makes the rest of the class feel stupid. If you dont plan to work your ass of dont take this class!
his bowtie and condescending demeanor are off putting and quite intimidating, but you'll leave the class feeling that you've gained a lot
AVOID AT ALL COST! DO NOT TAKE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! If your going to take him, make sure that his is the ONLY difficult class you will have for the semester or you will be LIVING in the library studying your a@@ off on a subject that doesn't matter!
Arrogant, condescending, self-absorbed--I've had better profs. You went to Yale, you certainly didn't get a job there! You are here at Loyola with us. Maybe we arent the best students ever, but you arent the best prof ever, or you wouldnt be here with us!
insufferable
Hard teacher, but he knows all the material really well so his lectures move quickly and are interesting.
Dr. Danford is a brilliant man but lacks people skills. He really made me feel uncomfortable asking questions and was very arrogant and stand offish. I would not take another class from him.
Yes, Dr. Danford is a little full of himself. And yes, when you get there the first day, he calls you illiterate. But show him some signs that you are intelligent life and he immediately develops more respect for you. You will learn tons, become a better writer and thinker. He knows his stuff.
Dr. Danford is clearly a very intelligent man. However, he does not conduct the class in a logical manner. He comes to class scatterbrained and his meandering commentary is inconclusive. I do not agree with Danford's choice to teach if he does not have the time to prepare for class.
I had him for Hon. Sem. and he was hard, but I got a lot out of the class. However, for PLSC 100, I don't feel I learned as much. He digressed so much in class that we had to rush through important material. He did not refer as much to the text as he had in the past. Hard Class!
He was great in the Honors sem, but this class was terrible. He digresses waaay too much, and we rush through everything. I learned nothing from him, which is extremely unfortunate.
Brilliant man, worst professor at Loyola.Expectations rival those at Yale's grad school.Digressions are the norm and I felt like I barely learned anything.Readings aren't bad.Lectures have no organization so it's hard to know important points. The tests are some of the hardest I've had. Don't take him
The worst professor on capus!!!! His lectures are boring, tests cumulative and super hard, and the grading VERY UNFAIR(this guy does not give out A or B). He's constantly late and as a result keeps everyone late after class. Do not take him for any class!!!
(not enough room so gonna try 2 b short) H102. discussions were informative and had a relaxed environment. The 1st day we spent time getting to know each other. If you are an A person then dont take him its kinda hard. If ur B go for it u'll learn alot. If ur lazy, run for ur life. Truthfully,
VERY rude. Tells people they're stupid and shouldn't waste their time.
I got good grade. but he thinks he knows evrthing,if he dosnt, he thinks its not worth his time.thinks hes above everyone including other professors.very rude.egotistical.never answers a question straight.digresses all the time.grammar biased(his way or no way).hates to help(gets very agitated).stay away, not worth ur time even 4 a good grade!
Had Danford when he was at U of Houston, looked him up on RMP out of curiosity. Yes, he was a tough grader, but his classes were outstanding. Looks like a lot of the students rating him were mad about their grades. So was I, once. But I learned more from him than from 99% of my professors, once I learned to work harder and quit whining.
Great teacher. He challenges his students. He grades pretty harshly (especially papers). there's a midterm, 2 papers and a final exam. Lots of readings. But he's a good teacher nonetheless.
One of the most intelligent professors you will encounter at Loyola. He is not impossibly hard; he just requires that students actually put time and effort into the course. If you are willing to do the work and study, you aren't likely to get a poor grade and will definitely learn from him.
He was an amazing teacher and I was amazed by how much he knew about his subject. Not the easiest class, but it really makes one think. If you do the readings and follow his paper rules, you will be fine. His tests surprised me by all that I actually knew and understood from the class. Take him if you can, you will not be sorry.
This professor will read your papers and acturaly help you improve your writing skills. He may grade harsh at first, but on papers he allows students to do rewrites. He is also very inteligent about the material he is teaching. If you are motivated only enough to take good notes in class and read the sections covered in class you will get an A.
Danford is the most arrogant prick of a man you will ever meet here at Loyola. His classes are very difficult, and worse still, he is not helpful whatsoever. Danford is obnoxious, stuck-up, and just plain rude. Avoid him at all costs. You will definitely regret taking him the moment that you feel the permeating stench of his arrogant aura.
Amazingly hard grader. He tell you exactly what he's looking for, so try to pay attention and do exactly as he says.
This man is very smart, and very arrogant. He grades papers more on your grammar style than on the substance, and his grammar style is different from what you have ever been taught in any English or other grammar class. He grades incredibly hard, and rarely gives out A's on any class work (nobody got an A on the midterm). Do not take his class.
Very hard grader. If you go in to ask him about why he gave you the grade he did, he will proceed to make you feel stupid, and he will most likely insult other professors while he is at it (my grammar professors are idiots, according to him). He treats the class like a graduate level class. Worst professor in my 4 years at Loyola.
He's a grammar nazi who thinks he is trying to teach you grammar instead of political theory. His grammar style is also markedly different from Loyola grammar profs. Hard grader, almost never gives A's. Hard to understand, and not approachable. GPA killer. DO NOT TAKE AT ALL. He's the kind of professor that makes you want to not be a plsc major.
this man has no respect for students or for any other professor in the university. to him, he is the best in the world at everything, it's either his way, or an F. stay away, he's an old grumpy, show-off/arrogant, depressed man who needs to relax a bit and learn how to RESPECT other living beings especially other brilliant professors.
I LOVE poli sci, but Danford strongly discouraged me. he grades more on grammer than on content, and just quotes from books. Leaves many students feeling hopeless, even when they try very hard. Way too much reading for a 100-level class.
He's a great professor, there's no doubt about it. If you're not here to learn and challenge yourself, don't take Dr. Danford. Very knowledgeable about his subjects. Ok if you take a class and the teacher doesn't know grammar, how can you trust that person on anything else? Be thankful; he truly know his stuff.sometimes lecture topics are scattered
I took him for Honors. He was hard, but worth it. He's a good professor and is always willing to help. Make sure you read the book and show up to class. But he's great, and doesn't try to push his beliefs on his students.
You will want to die after taking this class. He grades on students their grammar and punctuation, and he makes up the grammar rules (I did excellent on SAT Verbal, and yet he told me I had no writing or grammar skills). This is not a class to be taken unless you WANT to get a bad grade while NOT learning anything. Believe me, I tried.
HE IS A JERK!
Dr. Danford is the most challenging professor in Loyola's PLSC Dpt. His grading is rigid. However, he is fair if you work really hard. Meet with him, offer substantive arguments in defense of your low grades (he dispenses high grades as a mule dispenses diamonds). He wants to challenge you and he will. He's stubborn, but I'll thank him when I'm 50.
He makes up his own citation rules, very anal on grading and answering questions...I will NEVER NEVER NEVER take another class taught by him, nor would I wish my worst enemy to have to endure 3 hours/wk. with the all-knowing Dr. Danford
Tougher than some 300-level courses. If you can't write well, he'll try to help you, but it's probably better if you take a different professor. A lot of work, very rewarding, but I'd only recommend it to a political science major.
Extremely difficult. He is a good professor and I enjoyed his lectures. However, if your GPA is important DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
He is DA MAN!!! His class is the best class I've ever taken!!! And he is the best professor I've ever had!!! I learned a lot in his class and fell in love with political science even more!
His grading is very tough on papers, he does not like to give A's, I would not suggest him to any one who wants to get a good grade.
He is an interesting character, obsessed with Hume. His comments on papers are unnecessarily rude. He offers help, but when you meet with him he treats you like you are stupid. Dr. Danford is really smart, but he doesn't have to be as pretentious as he is.
really hard grader! definitly does not like giving A's- never saw anyone get an A on a paper or anything- pretty boring- wears bowties everyday!!
definitly all about himself!! smart and will make sure everyone knows it! calls students names and even talks about fellow professors! not helpful or approachable! very very very pompus! makes u wanna cry with his extremely rude comments on your paper!! talks too much about grammar and not enough about politics!!
Very hard. Lectures consist of him only reading passages from the books. Only two tests: midterm and final. Very unreasonable expectations for papers. Very arrogant. You must attend class and cannot fall asleep (which I did a lot). One of my worst teachers.
By far the most difficult professor I've ever had. I defnitely learned a lot but I had to work extremely hard for bad grades. I dont reccomend him, but if your stuck with him definitely go talk to him outside of class he's really really helpful and not half as arrogant as he is in class.
It IS a hard class, he is a tough grader on the paper, sometimes even being rude. But, the midterm and final are not as hard as everyone on here says. If you can get all the quote identifications right(they're well known quotes, not obscure ones) you're set for a high B or A on the respective test. He seems slightly arrogant, but is generally nice.
Most of the past reviews hit it on the nail. Tough, old school teacher that expects a lot from students. Attendance is mandatory for his explanations of the work. One midterm, one paper, and the final is the class. Highest grade in the class was maybe an A- if not B+. Take if Poli-Sci major, Core take some other prof for a better grade proba
After several classes with Dr Danford, I can honestly say he was an absolutely amazing teacher. Challenging but fair and probably the best teacher at Loyola. He taught me how to write since none of my prior teachers ever cared. Anyone who says otherwise is just too lazy and dependent on grade inflation to take his classes. He knows his stuff!
If you thought you could write before,he will show you otherwise. But you can tell just from the comments on here that the people who liked him learned how to write and those who didn't can't even type a logical sentence. He's arrogant but he is a genius. If you are in college for a joke, don't take his class; otherwise, you owe it to yourself.
He made me cry after my first paper...especially since I thought I could write. He is tough, picky, and demanding; but at least I learned something.
Oh it was a sad day when I landed Danford. "He's a strict grammarian" and that's quoting my mother. He goes off on tangents. Imagine some film set in victorian England with an evil professor sitting in a leather chair smoking cigars, that's him down to the cigar (burn marks ound on papers).
John Danford shows you how to critically think, and is categorically brilliant in the field of Political Science. He makes time after class to talk, though rushed, and has professionalized the way I write essays. This "strict grammarian" will ask you to write a coherent and flawless paper, so if this makes you nervous, drag your knuckles elsewhere.
John Danford essentially taught me how to think critically and improved my writing immeasurably. Yes, his classes are very challenging, and he will bust you if you are sloppy, but he takes his work seriously. If you are willing to learn, he will teach you. By the way, I took several classes with him in the late 80's and have never forgotten him.
Very condesding & hard to talk to. I came to him for help on a paper & he just kept telling me to read the instructions. When I wrote the paper on the wrong topic, he gave me a D-. It was really frusterating & I definately don't suggest taking him. Some people like useless hard teachers, not me. I ended up dropping because of that grade
He really is difficult. Writing papers for him is terrifying because he makes it clear how picky he is. However, I ended up with a B on mine, so he isn't too impossible. You have to read EVERYTHING at least once though, and pay close attention. He goes off and gets boring, but you do learn something, even if you die a little inside every class.
Tough, but really amazing professor. He's not going to just give you an easy A just so you'll like him. He's a stickler for grammar, so have others check your papers before you hand them in and if he marks you off for something, LEARN FROM IT! He sometimes will let you rewrite papers. Great sense of humor.
Such a cutie!
Amazing professor. Extremely difficult but well worth the effort. You will leave his class enlightened, better able to think critically, and a much improved writer. Highly recommend him if you desire a real education over an easy A.
Very challenging professor, but definitely knows his stuff. Don't expect just to slide by with Danford-- but if you work your butt off you will come out of that class a more analytical thinker and experienced writer. He allows re-writes for papers, which is nice, but can be frustrating because of how picky he is.
Horrible teacher. He prides himself on being a hard grader, so he'll go out of his way to tear apart your papers (and your self esteem). I learned very little from him. He's also very unhelpful in office hours and treats you like an idiot. I suggest avoiding him at all cost! Worst teacher I've had at Loyola.
Really an excellent professor. Yes, he grades very hard on papers and on exams, but an A is not impossible. Grammar must be flawless and he will make sure it is by the time you're done with his course. Only take him if you really want to learn. Definitely one of the best professors I've had -- I've taken him twice, by choice.
Sooo many people who do not have Danford as a discussion teacher think he's pompous, when really he just wants all college students to learn how to write!!! Great teacher, extremely helpful when you ask for it, and although he can be a little tough when grading, it's just so you learn from your mistakes. I had a B+ with good effort. :)
I had him for honors discussion and liked him a lot. I think I did as well as I did in honors because of him. He's definitely hard to please but worth the trouble.
A very mentally demanding professor, but well worth the effort. Probably my favorite teacher from Loyola so far because he pushes you to push yourself and come out a smarter, more analytical person. Don't take him if you don't have the intention of working. Very challenging grader. Worth it though.
The class i took was a 100, thinking it would be a nice introduction to political theory. i was wrong. he trails off during class, talks about where he received his education (at an ivy league school) hes an honors teacher, grades hard. one paper, midterm, final. tough class, prepare for the worst. you were warned.
i get that he's extremely knowledgeable, but he never seems to teach me. in lecture, he'll digress on to other works that we're not even studying. his grades papers unfairly, though he'll allow rewrites. goes crazy on grammar mistakes and he'll rip you apart on papers.
I had heard really bad things about him and was pleasantly surprised to find that he was super easy. He didn't mind that nobody read the books and only had two tests, both of which I finished before the end of class. And when he wore his "fun hat" (an old tophat with a flower) I just melted with laughter, and he's a silver fox, ladies. Take him!
This guy is a little over the top. He appears to be a nice guy but that is not so when you look at your grades.
As I'm sure you've gathered, he's hard. That being said, he's a nice guy. He's always willing to answer questions. The big thing is grammar. You can do fine on a paper even with a very simple thesis, as long as you make sure your grammar is fine.
The thing with Danford is you have to agree with him. If you don't, you won't do well. He is pretty close-minded and rough around the edges. He'll tear you apart in class, but one on one he's much better. His ideas are insightful. He's a really tough grader.
He's pretty rough. You need to agree with him and he's an insanely tough grader. I wouldn't recommend taking him for Honors, he grades much harder than the others. He's very knowledgeable but completely undermines anything that doesn't match his views. I'd stay away from his classes.
The professor is nice, but when he grades your papers, he RIPS IT APART. You will feel like a total loser; however, most of the class will be required to do rewrites, so you won't be the only one. A note to those who are shy: you will be required to read out loud in class, and attendance is mandatory!
Dr. Danford is clearly an intelligent man, however, he is not a good teacher. There is 1 paper, a midterm, and a final. Those are the only things you are graded on, and if you do badly, you have no way to redeem yourself. Because of this, I had to drop the class. He's an interesting teacher, but don't take the class unless it is required for you.
Professor Danford is far more interested in writing skills than course content, and even stated bluntly that he is more interested in a well-writen paper than the ideas involved. I'm a fan of good english, but I didn't take this class for it. When he actually starts on the right track, he's off it in a matter of seconds. Very Conceited.
he's a great professor! tough grader. high on grammar and writing. one paper. midterm and final. classes are very interesting and the material makes you want to go to class. has no favorites. really fair. most interesting class ever
He's too difficult for a 100 level class. I don't recommend him unless the required readings are something you think about in your sleep. He knows his stuff, and a real smart man. I just think he grades too hard unnecesarly.
Don't take this class. Run for your life! I think the guy is sneaky. He has 3 grades in which the first he gives you a C and doesn't grade your paper until your stuck in the class. No way you can get an A. I worked so hard only to get a C. The sad thing is that I was genuinely interested in the content.
Goes over all the readings in class. Interesting stuff. Only 3 grades for the semester. Extremely helpful and a good resource if you put in the work. "I rarely give out A's, mostly C's and B's." - Keep that in mind. Other than the difficulty of his classes, he's really smart and a nice/funny guy.
Most people don't like him because he's a tough teacher and is definitely more conservative than most of the professors. However he is really willing to answer any questions and if you go to him during his office hours to talk about your paper he is super helpful. He comes off as mean but in reality is super helpful.
DO NOT TAKE. I had him for honors last semester and struggled for a B but this semester I'm trying less and getting an A. Yes he brings up interesting points, but it's not worth the grade you'll get. DON'T TAKE HIM
DON'T TAKE HIM DON'T TAKE HIM DON'T TAKE HIM
Professor is kind, but he grades really hard. Don't expect an A going in to his class. Warning to those who are shy: there are oral presentations, mandatory discussions, and read-out-loud moments in class.
He smiles often, but sadly those smiles don't carry into your grades. Essay suggestions don't make any sense. Participation is graded. Avoid.
Very strict teacher. Follow his instructions exactly and show up in class everyday on time. Uses many textbooks but class is overall informative. Great learning experience for students who enjoy a mildly rigorous course. He is an old, white, male academic and his personality shows in the design/teaching of the course.
Terribly difficult. Good luck getting that A.
Took him for Honors Discussion first semester. While I didn't hate him as some people did, there are far better options (Whidden, Mannering, Radde-Gallwitz). His discussion is not engaging at all, he just talks about other texts and allows little input. While highly critical of people's writing, he will help you be a better writer.
Primary criticism for Dr. Danford comes from students who just don't do well. I did not do well in first semester honors, and got a B in the course. That said, Dr. Danford made me into a better writer; and I was interested and grateful for the challenge.
He is a tough professor only because he is one of the few that actually requires you to show up, do the readings and contribute to the class. I knew going in I couldn't get an A, but if you ask him for help he will help you. And he let's you rewrite papers. This is a good class for someone looking for a challenge.
Without reading a lot of the assigned stuff, you can do well as long as you pay attention in class. Only 1 paper which you have option to re-write and then 1 midterm and a final which are both ok if you study. Takes attendance every class.
I regret not paying attention to the reviews on here. Just take this as your warning and DO NOT SIGN UP FOR HIM. Yes you will learn, but it's not worth it. He really isn't that great at teaching. You can learn plenty more from a better professor. Some teachers are tough within reason, but he clearly enjoys watching students suffer. Nobody gets an A
Danford is definitely a tough professor. His Ivy League degreeteaching experience probably hardened him since he teaches at such a high level. Smart professor but not easy. He does not explain every detail in each book and rather skims through them, pointing out important details. I do not recommend Danford for the average. Easier routes are open.
Danford is tough. He gives a lot of difficult readings. During class, he does absolutely nothing but reread the readings to you. The midterm was fairly difficult; notes didn't help. Assigns a paper that he will rip to shreds. Graduated from Yale with a Ph.D. and expects freshman to be at his level already. Very inconsistent and unclear.
Very tough on his students. Discussion sections are mostly him talking. Don't bother having an opinion unless it's his. When it comes to papers, don't expect to get kind remarks. Proofreading is critical and be concise as possible.
Easily the worst professor I've had. Comments on papers are not helpful and downright disrespectful. He doesn't deserve to be employed.
Dr. Danford gets a lot of hate from students who think they're better writers than they are. He has exacting standards and expects you to meet them for everything you do. His exams are hard, but he wants you to write well on your papers and supports yoh in doing so. I don't agree with all of his politics but I really enjoyed his class.
Worst teacher I have ever taken. His material and lectures are dry. He has no desire to help students and gets annoyed when they ask questions are meet him in office hours. 1 2-page paper and 2 LONG essay style test questions. Over 12 books in one semester. DO NOT TAKE!!!
He expects way too much of his students. There is 1 paper (which most students failed but had a chance to rewrite... not much higher grades after), 1 midterm (half the class got D's or lower) and 1 final. Impossibly tough. Nobody comes out with an A. Over half my class dropped. He's a staunch Republican, doesn't like opposition. DO NOT TAKE!!!
This is the hardest class I've taken in all of my schooling experience. I passed with a B, but I put in probably 4-6 hours of homework every week and 20+ hours of studying for the mid-term and final. He simply doesn't give out A's and he's very disrespectful when it comes to questions/clarifications.
Dr. Danford is an excellent professor whom I would highly recommend taking. He gets a bad rap at Loyola for being a tough grader, but I think much of the negative feedback he gets is undeserved. Yes, he's a very difficult teacher, but if you work hard, do the reading, and ask questions/go into office hours, Dr. Danford will teach you a LOT.
AVOID HIM, SERIOUSLY. The toughest grader I've had. He auto-failed about 70% of the class' papers and made them rewrite them. Lectures are long, can be confusing and scatter-brained. His exams will be the death of you if you don't plan to read ALL 8 books in the course and go to class daily. Very knowledgeable but can be condescending at times.
I thought I was going to hate this class. It consists of one paper (which you will likely have to redo), one midterm, and one cumulative final exam. But if you show up to class, bring your books, and take notes on his lectures, you'll be fine. He takes attendance every class period, so if you only like to show up half the time- don't take him.
The worst class I've ever taken. He had 6 ethics reports against him for being verbally and emotionally abusive to the students in my class, graded harshly and never really knew what books we had for discussion after our general lecture.
A hard class with a terrible teacher. Condescending, dry, mean, takes pride in being a jerk to students. You have one paper that everyone fails at least twice and the final covers content for the entire term. He also has some gross throat clearing that he does constantly.
Worse class ever. Doesn't explain material properly. Makes you read about 10 novels over and over just to understand curriculum.
