the reading is pretty light but the discussion is kinda hard and the essay assignments are really challenging. not for people who want an easy A but definitely good if you want to learn.
Good teacher. The teacher expects you to actually pay attention, think, and participate. Class discussions can get pretty involved, but they are usually interesting.
Fun class. Discussions are done pretty much daily on the readings he assigns. Not an easy class, but he is more than willing to help everyone out. Overall a great class :D
Class is Easy, in fact I skipped some class cuz I knew it would hurt. He is easy on essays and will help you any way he can, answers quick on email too! Do take his class!! His constant "joking" is tiresome though..it sometimes takes him forever to get through any lecture since he gets sidetracked easily and starts laughing over nothing-_-
Good class. He is pretty helpful and seems to grade fairly.
As a first time college student this past fall, I was extremely nervous walking into class the first day. Mr.Davis made me feel at home in our off campus class immediately. His corny jokes and clever puns make the class fun, and the works aren't too hard. He's a fair grader, and doesn't assign too much homework. He's great!
This guy is tops. He expects you to read the texts, but doesn't care if you don't. Come to class interested and prepared, and he'll make it interesting for you. Very open minded. Witty, Intelligent and very upbeat. I recommend his class to anyone who wants to progress in life. If you don't care, then he doesn't care. But if you do, he'll help you.
This class would definitely be the class to take! He's sharp, witty, and hilarious. You basically sit in class for an hour to laugh. However, he does challenge you with four different essay topics and with his tests, but if you know your stuff, you'll do well.
Great professor, really funny & laid back. Willing to help any student, especially on essays. If you have him read over your essay before its due then he'll give you the feedback and corrections you need to get an A. Midterm & final had quote ID so it was tough, the readings are a bit difficult but he always goes over them in class. Take his class!
Prof Davis is a pretty funny guy. His class is based on the readings, so make sure you always read so you can participate in class. Always have him check your essays before you turn them in so he can help you improve. A lot of the readings were based on political science or philosophy, so just be prepared.
He's a great teacher! Really funny, and chill. Let us out early often. he shows a lot of films in the class. He gave a super easy extra credit assignment that helped a lot. His essays are challenging but nothing too hard. Readings are not hard and he goes over everything during class and does groups so you end up understanding everything.
Very cool teacher. Very smart and keeps class interested. He jokes around with the texts a lot to keep the class interested. Explains all the assignments and very helpful to students that dont understand. Very understanding of peoples personal life and wont make you stay if you have something to do. Best professor I had this semester.
He's super cool and funny! He requires you to do a lot of critical thinking (that's what 1A is), but he is always willing to help you out. I really like him because he always spent extra time to answer my questions. When you take a hard course like 1A, you do need a prof like him! TAKE HIM AND NO REGRET!
Tried talking up a guy doing hill sprints in the canyon last December. He was funny but kinda "aloof." Imagine my shock when I walk into English and he's teaching the class. Don't think he remembered me. Anyways, crazy fun class, read Walter Benjamin (oops, "Valter Benyameen"). Hard but worth it! Take his class and ENJOY.
Professor Davis is the best English professor in PCC. He is easily understood and his work is not challenging. His readings are mandatory because his essays relate to his readings. 4 essays, a midterm, a Final, and a 10 page research paper. Fairly easy and sufficient time to prepare for the essays. Funny and organized guy. Highly recommend.
By far the best professor ive ever had! His class is challenging but he is more than helpful and allows sufficient time to prepare! Effort goes along way with professor Davis. Funny, entertaining, and possess great skill in teaching and making english fun and enjoyable!
Professor Davis is a great teacher, he cares about his students, and he is very amiable. However with that being said, he is also very professional and serious about his work. Therefore although he may joke aroud during class, hard work and effort is required. The key in passing his class with an A is hold in the readings. You must read every story
Very good professor, great class. He is extremely reasonable and willing to help.
Professor Davis is the most amazing Professor! He explains everything so clearly to his students and is a very fair grader. He is funny but also very professional. He makes the class very interesting and fun! DEFINITELY recommend him.
super chill professor. very engaging and fun class. Highly recommend for English 1A
AMAZING professor! When I read the comments below I knew I had to take his class and see if it was true and guess what? It was. Very helpful, super handsome (MAJOR plus), fair, reasonable grader and his work is not hard at all. Super chill, I highly recommend. He is willing to help with any ?'s you have. I just can't get over on how amazing he is!
Professor Davis is amazing! He is very funny but very professional. Very willing to clarify anything you may be confused about. Definitely recommend him.
Such a great teacher I had him for 1B and he made it interesting and fun. There is a lot of reading to do and groupclass discussion. I am really sad I was unable to take him for 1C.
I took Professor Davis for English 1A, and I gotta say he is the BEST and I mean the BEST English 1A Professor hands down. Take him for 1A and you won't regret it. You read the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and the essays and group work were awesome!
He is a great teacher! Very nice & funny. Definitely makes the subject matter interesting. Not too much homework. Midterm & Final are pretty easy. The final research paper is probably the hardest thing, but it's based on a novel, so it's more fun than others that are really just fact-based research style papers.... Highly recommended.
Great professor! He is funny, extremely helpful, and it doesn't hurt that he's nice to look at too. He is very clear on what he wants see in papers, and grades fairly. Lots of class discussions which are extremely helpful and very fun as well (so don't miss!). Definitely recommend taking him to anybody who wants to pass an English class with ease.
I took professor Davis for English 1A and 1C and got an A for both classes. He is an excellent professor, he is witty, and amiable, but at the same time he is professional and serious when it comes to getting things done. He also explains everything clearly and thoroughly in a humorous manner. I highly recommend for people to take him.
I absolutely hate english but completely love this professor! His lectures are super interesting and he knows how to make the class interact with him. He's super funny but knows when to be serious. Very professional! Very clear about his assignments and is always there if you need help! Took his Eng. 101 class and can't wait for Eng. 103!
If you aren't very good at writing but at least put in your best effort he will take notice and give you a better grade than most professors. He remembers you and likes you a bit more if you actually participate. Offers a 10% extra credit paper. If you have an A you don't have to take the final. He's also pretty attractive so that doesn't hurt.
Excellent professor. Learned a lot. Will take him for 1C.
He's an awesome teacher and made the 2 hr lectures pass quickly, he has a good sense of humor. Be ready to read a lot, it is English. He makes you get into groups throughout the semester, that you choose in the beginning of class. During lecture, the classgroups discuss the readings . There's only the midterm and the final, he give you a list.
The best English professor I've taken at Pasadena! He's the most caring & hilarious professor I have had! He's your guidebook throughout the semester. Don't ever hesitate to ask him questions. He's willing to give you the most helpful feedback! One of the most genuine professors! Definitely taking him again for my upcoming English courses!
Davis is a halarious proffesor. Best proffesoI've ever had i would recommend taking him. He is a helpful person and really wants his students to pass and understand the lectures. You dont have a lot of homework or work to do but you do have a couple of essays, pretty easy though nothing hard. You have couple of readings thats pretty much all.
He is the best english teacher. His name on Canvas is Lord of English. What are you waiting now?
I was about to give an "okay" rating because I worked so hard for an A but ended up with a high B. After emailing Professor Davis, he was kind enough to round my grade to an A :) If you're looking for an A in this hard, put in the class. You get what you put in. The readings he assigns are interesting and midterm/final are not hard if you READ.
A very easy-going professor. Always tells jokes in the class. The tests are not hard if you study. However, you need to work hard on your essays.
Cool and kind. Professor Davis made my semester. If you like sarcastic humor, this is your professor. The only concern you should have is that most of his speech can be put in a simpler way. He is super helpful, fun and he keeps you awake. Best professor of the semester and likely my entire college career. Long live the Lord of English!
One of the best professors I've had the chance of taking at PCC. He cares about all his students. He's also very funny, which makes the classes more enjoyable. He's willing to help you if you do your part as a student. I would take his class all over again if I could. Love his passion for teaching. I highly recommend taking his classes.
Relly good proffessor highly rommend him. He is really funny. He enjoys teaching and it good at it. Not alot of work and understands him students
An absolute gem of a teacher. He genuinely cares about his students. He has a passion for literature and is a fair grader. He's the best professor I've ever had at PCC. Take him!
Professor Davis is a god. His class is the epitome of higher education and his teaching style exemplifies this. Take this class if you want to have the best time of your lives and get submerged in the wonderful world of English in the meantime. :D
My favourite professor of all times. English is not my first language... but... he understands it.
Prof. Davis is in my top 3 list of best professors i have taken during my almost 3 years at PCC. He is highly intelligent and very passionate with teaching. I liked most of the readings he assigned during the semester but found one extremely difficult to get through. He gives deep feedback on essays and encourages you to ask for help/clarification.
Prof. Davis is my favorite professor at PCC. He genuinely cares for his students, fun personality, and his class is full of positive energy. We didn't use all of the books this semester but 2. Keep up with the readings and you'll be good with the essays. Would definitely take him again and again !
Professor Davis is amazing. Definitely one of my favorite professors at PCC. He truly cares about his students and is willing bend the rules to help you pass his class. He's also a really chill and funny guy, therefore his lectures aren't long and boring. As long as you do your work, you will get an A. RECOMMENDED. Trust me, he's the best.
Yeah this guy is one of the GOAT professors. Extremely intelligent, hilarious, and chill. He inspires critical thought about topics. You will definitely learn something. He tries to get to know his students and wants you to succeed. Easy A if you do the assignments. He drops your lowest essay grade. He even makes flan for the end of class party.
hands down the best teacher ever...
Great professor! Makes class and learning fun. He's very caring and will help you succeed. Thanks Davis!
John Davis is probably one of the easiest professors to take for english. Not because the worse work isn't very difficult but also because he makes it a good time. He's constantly cracking cheesy jokes that keep the mood of the classroom lively and not at all stressful. English isn't easy for everyone and he takes this into consideration.
I have never taken an easy and fun English class in my life. Davis gives you very Clear feedback. He is attentive to what you have to say and very respectful. Always available if you need it! Do your readings and papers and you'll get an A ! Seriously don't waste your time taking other professors he's the best one you'll ever find!
Great Professor!! He really nice and funny! Just do the assignment and youll be fine!!
He is the best English professor in PCC. He really cares his students, and he gives extra credit assignments and essay revision opportunities. If you do your work, you can get A.
Just do the assignments as he asks, and you'll be okay. Aside from that, Professor Davis is one the BEST professors on campus. Even during his rare lecture days, he was always enjoyable and funny.
Not Kidding, best professor in PCC. every one in the class can get an A, just turn in the homework and essay in time. Lots of group discussion.
Davis is awesome!!!! I love his hilarious but insightful lecture. He enjoys joking with students, which makes the atmosphere of class active. Receiving A would be difficult, but passing the class would be easy. Good luck!
His class can be seen super easy because of the level of difficulty. However, it would be more difficult than your expectation. Textbooks are philosophical things, and he does not easily give A at all. Of course, he does give enough time to write a perfect essay. Without making a lot of effort, it would be hard to get an A.
An amazing professor. Really cares about the material he teaches. There are several essays. But what do you expect? It's an English class, essay writing is required. That said, print a rough draft, and he'll give you pointers. But, getting A from his class is obviously challenging. He is generous about giving B, but not A without heavy analaysis.
I am not the best writer, but I did really well in this class. Like you I searched up this teacher and I don't regret it. He is SUPER understanding and gives great feedback on the three essays we did. He is also really funny and he makes the atmosphere of the classroom chill. TAKE HIMMMM!!:D
Professor Davis is Amazing! I highly recommend signing up for his class. His classes are engaging and the subject matter is really interesting. He cares for his students and wants them all to succeed. Do the work and you will do well in his class!
Professor Davis was amazing and I'm saying this as someone who has just submitted the final project. He is endlessly helpful and definitely cares about his students. He gives you ever opportunity to succeed. The only people not getting A's is his class are those who don't want it. He gave 2 5% extra credit assignments. Take him, you wont regret it!
He is super good looking!!!!!!! He makes English class so fun and easy. Its literally one of the easiest classes Ive ever had. If you show up and turn in your work, you will get an A.
Prof Davis is a real gem! He is super nice, funny, helpful, and provides good feedback on all students work. 3 essays, 1 final research project (not as hard as it sounds), provides a ton of extra credit (5% boost), midterm and final are basically free points, and he's really good looking. I'd take him again if I needed another english.
Seemingly, his class is easy comapred to other 1c classes. However, he is obviously a tough grader, especially, with respect to essays. Just a few people got actually As for essays, meaning that people with no exceptional capability in writing insightful and well-organized essays wouldn't be able to get an A for essays.
Do not expect to easily get A from this class. One of the most universal misconstructions regarding Prof. Davis is getting A from his class is not hard. Unfortunately, that is not true at all. Only students turning in assignments which cater to his standard would be able to get A. Be prepared if u wanna get A. Getting B would be relatively easy :)
didn't buy the textbooks, missed classes here and there, didn't do extra credit and still got an A. Some people wanna make certain classes harder to them but this class isn't one of those. Great lecturer, gets the point across and we learn but this class is extremely easy. If u earned your way to Eng 1C, his class should be no stress EASY A.
Taking Dr. Davis for English was wonderful experience to me. He was always hilarious and made effort into making us laugh :) Nevertheless, as for grading, he was a tough grader. So I had to put much effort into this class. I guess, recently, his grading criteria has changed from easy to hard.
THE MOST FABULOUS PROF at PCC! Take him if you weren't obsessed with getting only A from this class cause he's sort of strict at grading particularly essays. BUT, if you were an excellent writer, you would be ok!
Professor Davis is a very polite, easy going, and kind professor. Turn all the assignments you will have a solidly easy A. Tip: taking English 01A with him during winter/summer will be extremely easy.
Awesomest English professor ever! Chill class agenda, super enjoyable class. I took his class over the summer and it went by fast. 1 group presentation, 1 midterm, 1 research project, 3 essays, and a final. If somehow you're struggling in his class, talk to him and as long as you show improvement in the future you'll be fine. :) MUST TAKE!!!
Professor Davis is super chill!! His class was always enjoyable. Definitely, he tends to give an A easily for 1A class; but for 1C class, he only gives an A good writers. Many people also felt like he is a tough grader for 1C class unlike 1A class.
Currently, I'm taking his class. He's nice and ok, but readings are pretty challenging. This class mainly covers philosophy and critical thinking. Technically, this class is not English one.
Among all English professors I've taken at PCC, he was the most inspiring yet tough professor. He has a tendency not to give A with ease like any other professors. And must read pretty profound textbooks and articles. Finally, I got B. But I like him b/c he was always more than happy to help me keep up with his class. He is a caring professor.
I love Dr. Davis; he's caring, respected, delivers great lecture. Yet, I can't say he's the best option for 1c as he's picky about grading. He carefully looks into every single of essay, and then grades them with his own rigorous standard. It was the only English class that I failed to receive A.
No pain, no gain.. Suffer first then get rewards later. Prof. Davis loves philosophy, so unlike its course name, his class is pretty much about philosophy. In addition, we had to write 15 page-long final paper.
Excellent professor.
Wonderful teacher. Very funny and gives good feed back on writing g assignments. The weight of the assignment are very fair. Had so much ch fun in his class.
best professor ever. plus he's hot
I don't know if Professor Davis is tougher on English, but he is definitely one of the funniest professors I met in PCC. Plus, it's college 1, you don't have to do anything that's too hard, just go to class and you're solid
I took him for both ENG100 and 1A last year. His classes are the easiest English classes you'll ever take. The class is light on assignments just need to worry about are essays. Very nice and funny guy. I was never really stressed.
Truly the lord of English! No one like him man. Golden tip: Dont stress over the first essay because the lowest you can receive is a C on it. I say that because he drops your lowest essay in the class. Do the readings for sure. Ask questions he loves to answer your questions/ concerns and is super nice about it as well.
I truly love Professor Davis!! But his 1C class was tough.
great teacher and class, should def take him. highly recommend and easy. lots of group work, but easy assignments.
Professor Davis is seriously the most laid back professor. If you put in the work, you will definitely get an A. I hate English and this class was not bad at all! It also doesn't hurt that he's good looking,
I was dreading taking an English class but he made it really easy and fun! Also a plus that he's good looking ;) He's really understanding and is willing to help you after class with anything you're having difficulty with. Prepare to read a lot of stories and write and essay in regards to them.
Amazing guy! Very outgoing and caring with his students. I recommend him!!
The best! Had to take this class as a requirement and was dreading it but absolutely loved it because of him. He cuts out any unnecessary work all you really have to do is read the assigned book. Super funny, charismatic, and caring. Definitely take his class!!
I hate english classes, but professor davis made it so much more bearable. he actually wants you to pass his class and helps you out in any way he can. some of the assignments were tough, but as long as you keep up with everything youll be fine. hell give you extensions on hw assignments if you need them.
So handsome! I love him even I am not interested in men. I am a man. He has a very nice personality. He never messes students up. He really knows how to let you feel good and confident. You will receive more than what you will expect from this class! Have fun!
Amazing professor! Bonds well with students and wants everyone to pass. Would take again !!!
Caring and amiable professor who really does care for his students. I have no idea how lazy you should be to get BC in this class. He is very supportive and will help you to succeed as long as YOU wish to do so.
Professor Davis is caring, funny , and knowledgeable. His class is easy, and he is an easy grader. You will need to read the articles that he assigned and have to do RRJs. Had total of 3 essays and 1 research paper that you can work with friends and have to do a presentation base on the research paper. You can revise your essay until you get an A.
He is so nice. take his class and do all the papers you will easy to get an A. if you dont satisfy with your essay grades you can revise up to A grade
Prof Davis is amazing! I didn't take him for an english class (the subject he teaches) but I had him for College 1 which is required for first years. He's so funny and a great guy. We were meant to have a bunch of useless projects and assignments but he picked out just the most useful ones and we only did those. He's very knowledgeable!
he is the best professor you could ever ask for!!! take him!!
Professor Davis is an awesome teacher. Very understanding and caring. He has a very clear grading criteria. If you complete all the work in his criteria is an easy A. He is very approachable and will explain the assignments if you ask. Overall hes a awesome teacher, and would definitely take again if I had to.
My favorite Professor at PCC so far! His class was more like a social justice/history class than English. He is inspiring and funny! We had group assignments and quite a bit of homework but thoroughly enjoyable. Contract grading, meaning if you do the work you can get whatever grade you like. Loved him!
I absolutely loved Professor Davis. He is caring and really wants to make sure you succeed. If you need more time he will extend the deadline for you. Helps you with your essays and the material so you can easily get an A. Provides lots of extra credit to help bump your grade if needed. Best English professor!! I recommend taking this professor!
Pros: - Wants students to pass - Accepts late work - Not tough on grading - Easy A if you turn in work - Cares and wants to connect with students - lots of extra credits - Tries to inspire students to enjoy English - understanding - looks like Ryan Gosling but a little older Cons: - Hard to get his class
Best English Professor
Dude. Prof. Davis is probably one of my fav professors at PCC. I was dreading taking an English Lit NIGHT course (now transitioned online), but he's made it super fun, entertaining, and easy to digest (if you know Eng Lit, you know what I mean). He's knowledgable, helpful, FUNNY, & caring. He really does want you to succeed. TAKE HIM!!!
Professor Davis is really nice. All the reading he has chosen are particularly good. Before writing each essay and research paper, he can thoroughly analyze and solve all your questions. He is the best English professor at PCC.
Professor Davis has been my favorite professor during my time at PCC. I took him for 1C & for the comedy lit course. He's one of the few professors you'll find that actually want to see their students succeed. He chooses intriguing and challenging reading materials & manages to explain & provoke new thoughts about them easily. Thank you Davis!!
He gives clear criteria and you'll get an easy A if you do what he asks to do. However, the thing is that the subjects and materials he gives you to read are not easy, rather harsh. You must spend more than enough time to apprehend those papers. What made me gave him 5 rates is because his lectures are so FANTASTIC! +he emits positive vibes.
the class was one of the easiest English courses I took at pcc. prof. davis grades quite leniently. knew I wouldn't be held accountable if I didn't complete all the readings, so only read what I found interesting and skimmed the rest. didn't feel like I learned much, but it allowed me to complete my requirements while focusing on other classes.
Everything is more flexible. He has rrj that are like a feedback to what you have read (weekly readings). The class is really not that hard as long as you do the work. Workload is light, he truly is a caring person. Any questions, more than welcome to email him! He understands that some of us may have it harder, email him your situation.
Professor Davis is a real gem. He wants his students to improve in his class. You can revise your writing if you arent satisfied. He records his weekly lectures for the class. He also gives extra credits assignment too.
Professor Davis is great, do your work on time, try your best (he'll notice) and you'll surely pass with a high grade, he's the best!!!
A really nice teacher. I like how he calls himself the lord of English hes very sweet and nice and caring. Exactly what a professor ought to be.
He is really sweet and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students. The work is relatively easy, but there is quite a bit of it. However, he is a fair grader and if you do all of the assignments you will likely get an A!
Took this class for 6 week intersession. As you can imagine, condensing 16 wks into 6 can make the work seem overwhelming. He has a "grading contract" basically means "do this for an A, do this for a B, etc...". He set up each day as if it was in a classroom, with zoom lessons 4 days of the week. Helpful, but don't expect to jump ahead.
By far my favorite professor at PCC. Had Prof. Davis for 1C and now in his comedy and lit class. Absolutely don't regret it. We watched an episode of Rick and Morty. With that, John Davis is super approachable, caring, and a nerd at heart. His philosophy of teaching might be the best you come across. He truly defines what it means to be a teacher.
Definitely one of the best professors I had. Respond to messages very quickly. Very nice and courteous when asking for an extension when I was stressed from other classes. His assignments were very much enjoyable. Definitely read the assign materials and take notes. Helps a lot on the essays.
Professor Davis is a very caring professor and also a easy professor. Honestly just take him you wont regret it! He loves English and would go on about English because thats how much he loves English and cares about his students. He calls himself Lord of English and thats so funny and true because he makes English enjoyable. Easy class take him!
Professor Davis was the best English I ever had. Neither a tough grader nor have a heavy workload in his class. He is very inspirational, and gives good feedback on assignments. Will take him again if I get the chance.
Professor Davis is so nice. I wish I need to take another English class so I could take him again. He will not push you in every assignment. You will receive a credit as long as you attend his class. He will help you through everything. He is so understanding. Just attend his class and everything's gonna be fine I swear.
Professor Davis is the man. Probably the best professor I've had at PCC. The work is manageable, he is understanding, and accepts late work. There are three major essays throughout the semester, with chances to re gain points if needed. He is super caring for all students taking the course, and really just wants all of them to pass. Take him!!
Professor Davis, easily the nicest teacher ever. He tells you from the beginning that he wants you to succeed and he means it. I was having a lot of mental health issues and had fell behind. I reached out to him (responds quick)and he let me turn in all late assignments for full credit. 9 RRJ's and 3 Essays all super easy, and not a lot of reading.
The Lord of English himself! I have the most utmost respect to this Professor. My class was asynchronous but his lectures are clear and straight to the point. He will make you think critically about all of the texts that you will read. Very understanding that life happens, and can reach out to him if you are behind your work.
Wonderful man. I told him I was having relationship issues and he told me not to worry about it and to catch up when I can. The curriculum is wonderful. His material covers Plato, Aristotle, Martin Luther King, Virginia Woolf. We brush on the Matrix and Marx as well. There are also arguments for Capitalism if that is your forte. His class fills up!
If you want to learn in an easy way and get an A, take him. He is a wonderful person. I was given extra time to finish my work. He gives everyone another chance to improve his or her work. I was never judged in this class. That is why learning was so easy and fun. Thank you so much, Prof John Davis.
Hands down the best professor I have had at PCC. Caring about his students, classes are thought provoking and can be a challenge, but he is an easy grader and is more focused about you learning than stressing over getting a good grade. Show that you are putting effort and you will get an A. Funny and nice lectures, with interesting concepts.
Professor Davis changed the way that I feel about my writing and shifted my thinking of what a "good" paper should look like. He gave great feedback and valued each student's point of view. He's the BEST!
Davis is the man! Definitely the best professor in the English department!!!!!!!!!! He is very understanding, and his works are so easy and fun to write. Also on the beginning of the semester, he will telling you that what you need to do to earn the grade you want. And as a English learner, I still did the class pretty solid!
Professor Davis is truly an amazing teacher. I took him for asynchronous English 001A and I would definitely take him again. He provides you with a grade breakdown which helps you see what assignments you need to do to get whichever grade you want. He's also really understanding and takes late work which is amazing.
Great guy, will work with you if needed. You can definitely tell that he's passionate about his students! Instructions and grading policy are very clear. Workload was not bad.
Absolutely the best Professor of English at PCC. Really cares a lot about the material he instructs and works to build good relationships with his students.
Very understanding and caring man who does not require a lot of work compared to other English classes. 8 250 word journals, 3 essays (2 pgs, 4 pgs, min. of 2 pgs), along with a few discussion posts. There are 4 EC opportunities and you can revise essays. No midterm, there is a final research project -- easier than it sounds. Would take again.
Absolutely the best English professor at PCC.Very interesting reading material that. The essay requirements are difficult but very generously graded.Lots of reading but not a lot of work and he allows late assignments.Very caring for students and I strongly recommend it.
Professor Davis is the best English teacher you can take he is so caring and wants you to succeed no matter what. I took him during summer when my mental health was bad and I had so many missing assignments but I finally emailed him and he let me turn all my assignments in and I ended up passing with an A he's the most caring teacher ever. TAKE HIM
He does a grading contract so if you do everything that is assigned you will only receive a C. in order to get a B you have to do a revised essay as well. In order to receive an A you have to do an addition 2 extra credit "opportunities" or an addition two essay revisions.I don't understand why he doesn't make the other assignments requirements.
My man is a good professor, what more could you want, if you do the work and show him that you put some effort in it then you will pass without a sweat.
He saved my mental health from getting worst and most of all he wants me to succeed and live my dreams. He is very understanding and will provide feedbacks on what you need to improve on your writing. Overall, a kind person if you ever find yourself lost.
Honestly light professor whos nice and the asgms r very str8 forward. just do em and u basically get an A. he has extra credit and essay revisions to fix yo grade. i would say theres a lot of readin but just pace urself and most def manageable. theres like 3 essays and one research project. do ur work and u cant fail. few asgnts but lots of reading
So kind and helpful, helped out his students so much. Funny and very reasonable.
He is probably going to be my favorite professor ever. I was struggling with balancing my workload but he was super understanding and forgiving, especially with late work. Lectures were not mandatory but extremely worth coming to class for. Just show that you are trying your best and he will do everything he can to make sure you succeed.
My FAVORITE professor at PCC. I took him for Eng 1A & Eng 1C and I learned a lot from his online classes! He takes his time to explain all his reading materials and assignments on his prerecorded Zoom videos so there's no misunderstanding. He replies to emails quickly and he's very understanding and allows late work. He is the best!
One of the best professor ever! He was so understanding and he gave grace periods on most of the work. Take him he is the best.
very good professor, work is pretty straight forward easy grader, as long as you try that's what matters to him
I took Professor Davis for 3 consecutive terms my freshman year, and each class was such an experience. I got an A in Engl 1A,1B, and 057. Just sign up with him. I can promise you will not regret it. 1,000,000/10
You will not regret taking Professor Davis. I took 1C last semester and wish I could have him as a professor again. You will learn a lot from him, and he is there to help you. He accepts late work and has a clear grading criteria.
He is one of the best professors I ever had!!! Even though it is an online class watching his lectures and videos you can tell that he is genuinely a caring person and keeps you updated with all material lessons!! Just focus and do great, he is so cool his personality amazes me and such an inspiration thank you for being an awesome professor!!!! :)
He was an amazing professor! Took him over the summer term. His grading criteria is clear, where he makes it known that YOU choose your own grade, and he's just there to support you. If you ever have trouble with finishing his assignments please reach out to him, he's genuinely understanding and there to support your academics.
Professor Davis is a fantastic teacher. His clear instructions and grading policy make the class manageable. Engaging with his system and using resources like ChatGPT and unstuck ai for study prep really helped me succeed.
Not only an AVID reader, a writer, and a lecturer but also very supportive and understanding. Professor Davis is professional.
Professor Davis was amazing, he truly cared for his students and seemed passionate about his job. Just do the readings, read it over and over if you have too but just do it and you'll be fine. He gives you a lot of freedom with your work so take advantage.
It's been a couple years since I've taken Prof. Davis for English and I still remember him from time to time. He really is the best Professor in PCC and the reason why I continued with school. He ignited the passion for reading and writing back into my life, and made sure that I am heard. I can't recommend him hard enough. His lectures are also fun
Professor Davis provided far and away the best online experience I had at PCC. His zoom lectures are packed with useful information, and he talks about relevant class readings to help you understand them. There is a lot of writing, but his feedback is good, deadlines are reasonable, and there are many opportunities for revision. Great professor.
love him sm. funny and caring, one prompt writing(I usually write 2/3 paragraphs) every week and thats it. there's practically no hw. I love the readings he assigns which u then discuss in class. I skipped often w no problem lol. =2 essays so far, very clear prompt and criteria.he's ALWAYS there to help.incredibly easy even if ur not good at English
Professor Davis's class is very interesting. It won't have too much homework. During one semester, you only need to submit 8 out of 12 articles from the RRJ, 3 essays, and one reading proposal project, and you will be able to easily obtain an A grade. The reading volume is a bit high, but it's the same as in English 001A. Take him!
He is a very nice and patient professor. He gives a lot of extra credit assignments. Please take his class, you will learn a lot.
I rarely give 5/1s in this website, but this professor really deserved it. I had a 3-hour class, and he managed to make it pretty fun and interesting. We went over works I had never heard of before, and his commentary was both educational and entertaining. It's a low-stakes class, he grades incredibly quickly, and it's a free A!
Professor Davis was an amazing professor for english 1C. I was really nervous at first to take his class but he made it very understandable and always made sure if you understood the lesson or if you need help. He had a good amount of workload but try not to fall behind but if you do accepts late assignments as long as you communicate with him.
This is the only professor I've done a rating for but professor Davis is literally one of the best professors I've had at PCC. He's very understanding and patient with his students and his lectures are easy to understand. Overall he's a chill professor and as long as you keep up with the work load (which isn't a lot) you should be fine.
