this man is not very understanding at all, uses his own book
He's AWFUL!!
HORRIBLE......do not take, hardly passed anyone I know, absoutely the worst!!
Hard but if you put time in and study the old tests that he gives you ull be ok
He can make you love economics if you study otherwise you can hate him and fail.
very hard to understand...not intersting at all, impossible to pass
Words can't even explain how bad he is!!
Had to withdraw from the class. Very helpful professor, but tests are very hard
Total weirdo.. but easy. overslept before final, finished in 20 minutes - A
He does a good job of teaching it his way, gives u example test and quizzes, hard
hard tests just passed with a C, find another teacher
Hard teacher, 3 tests..similiar to ones in book, study those and you'll be ok
Dude wrote the book for his class. He is very fragmented and the book isn't any different.
His tests are multiple choice tests but all the answers look the same. He wrote the book and expects you to know everything in that book. He is a hard teacher.
Read the book and take good notes, read multiple choice carefully (tricky wording) and you will do fine. Fair professor, but choice of words can be intentionally confusing.
Hard professor, the tests are based straight from the notes and, since he wrote the book for our class, the textbook
we didn't write the book, stop playing word games, new students don't speak with an economic vernacular.
Makes economics fun.
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR STATISTICS!!
horrible teacher. tests are extremely confusing and wordy. he makes an easy class seem hard. take someone else definitely.
Dr. Egger is extremely knowledgable about his subjects. His intuition and insight is quite impressive. It is no doubt a hard class, but he is a good teacher
I've had over ten economics professors, and he is my favorite. He is obviously knowledgeable and excited about economics, and he makes it fun. His economic philosophy is clear, consistent, and correct.
Wost ever... !!!!
Great teacher, really cares and knows what he's doing.Just read the assigned chapters EVERY WEEK & u'll pass his tests & class.I failed b/c i was a ****:-)
His text is WAY too wordy & I felt as though he just rambled on in it at times making it difficult to comprehend. Everything thats in the text is what he uses in the class. & prepare to buy the Wall St. Journal too, you HAVE to read it for tests.
the worst prof. ever. do not take his class, failed almost the whole class, just a waist of time and money. very hard grader.
Egger's a good prof! very smart, thorough, challenging."waist of time", "waist?" you're hilarious dude!
Don't know about other classes he teaches,he does an excellent job with this one. Choose 10 out of 14 essays to do. No Exams! Participate in class. He is very intriguing and encourages you to really think about the subject. every econ student should take.
OVERLY WORDY MAN! BOTH IN THE TEXT WHICH HE WROTE AND ON THE TESTS. YOU'LL UNDERSTAND THE STUFF THAT HE SAYS IN CLASS, WHEN YOU GET TO THE TEST YOU'LL BE LOST. BE PREPARED TO SHELL OUT FIFTY SOMETHING DOLLARS FOR THE WALL STREET JOURNAL TOO! DON'T TAKE!!!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Hard tests, unclear class. I had the class only on Fridays...what a disaster! Please, find a different teacher to take the class with!
Great Professor. Hope I can take him again. He is very patient and very understanding and very helpful. Take his class. Forget the other reviews, most students are just too lazy to work and learn.
He wrote the book which is really wordy and is mainly his view on economics. In class all he does is give you notes using the same exaples from the book. Get tutoring if you need it!!! Also, he gives quizes every Friday and the 3 tests a semester.
I did not think that I was very good at ECON stuff but I ended up getting an A. He did write the text book and it was VERY well written. I understood everything and he explained it very well. This class also helped me with my POSC 313.
He was a drag .DONT EVER TAKE HIS CLASS HES SO UNCLEAR ITS RIDICULOUS
Well, first of all this class is so not what i expected of it to be like.....this professor though very nice, but what you gonna do with his nice behavior when you will be haviung a poor grade...my gosh only take his class if you really love reading his book and only if its not ur major.
Difficult to understand sometimes. He writes a book with alot of extra words. Hardcore economist which is bad if you just want to get the class out of the way.
He has this mentality that we should all think economics is great. In reality, nobody cares! He gives way to much work, gives quizes EVERY Friday and asks trick questions on the exams.
I highly recommend him. Yeah you have to do a little bit of work, but I mean, if you go to college thats what you are supposed to do right? Anyway, he makes a boring class very interesting. He knows his stuff. Again, I highly recommend.
FATHER TIME CANT TEACH, HE IS MAD CRAZY AND ALWAYS MAKES WEIRD HAND GESTURES, DOING SPIRIT FINGERS OR SOMETHING, I UNNO. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS CUZ ITS MAD HARD AND U HAVE TO SUBSCRIBE TO THE WALL STREET JOURNAL WHICH IS A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY AND TIMEEEEE READING ALL THEM ARTICLES. HE NEEDS TO RETIRE!!
too wordy
Good teacher and class, teaches it from a different perspective than most Econ profs would. Not too hard, emphasizes good use of logic and writing skills.
too wordy very consertive veiw, olways tlaks abouthis view about econ he wrote the book
I thought this class was pretty hard but i honestly did not understand or do any work and I still got a C. He is really weird and gets upset if everyone does not do the excercises in the back of the book that he wrote. He has a leanant attendance policy. If I can pass this class anyne can.
wrote the book himself and all he dose is give notes from it.
Very nice man. Grading policy is more than ok, but the material he teaches are very difficult to understand. Attendance is mandated and you have to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. The exams are VERY difficult!!!
CLASS IS REALLY HARD, NOT A GOOD TEACHER AT ALL AND HIS BOOK IS REALLY REALLY CONFUSING...
The material is tricky but deciferable if you attend class. The textbook, that he wrote, can be confusing. He's a little quirky but not unreasonable.
Boring classes, confusing material, confusing book, confusing teacher. He makes easy content seem complicated. He doesn't help or answers questions.
REALLY HARD AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD GRADE. WROTE THE BOOK SO IT REALLY DOESNT HELP IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HIM. STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN...IF NOT GOOD LUCK!!!!
u need to give him his 6hrs studying time b4 u inderstand his book. he isnt bad at all. grades reasonable and gives extra credit. if u dont study hard u'll find the exams difficult and confusing. yeah, wall street journal was hell. every friday quiz was terrible. over all he's a good teacher. avoid him if ur not willing to study hard. guys guys.
Really knows econ. Is a tenured prof. and knows it. A course in how to teach would be helpful for him. He is knowledgable but makes things more difficult than needed. No discussions. Less charting and more real world would help greatly.
This guy sucks, he rambles about nothing and confuses you even more when he tries to answer your questions. He also does help you if you go to visit him during office hours
Super easy course, if you come to class and write down his notes. Super hype about teaching Econ. Kind of out there with his sense of humor. Has his own book which is way cheaper than other textbooks.
This class was pretty tough. You have to take great notes to go along with the book, and a do lot of studying. I never got higher than an 80 on a test but I got an A in the class so if you put the work in it will definitely show.
Hard to follow very hard tests
He is out there with his sense of humor and his examples. he does know a lot about the course but he makes you work for your grade. he will only help you after he has seen you have tried your hardest to figure out your question on your own. this guy makes me laugh though because he is so strange
he knows a lot about economics but its hard to concentrate because he is so strange and odd. his testsand quizzes are very hard and u will have to work and study very hard. and the book sucks too.

Ugh.. class is soooo boring, as is his book. He makes you read the Wall Street Journal. He doesn't go over any of the stuff before a quiz, he expects you to read the book. Just a bad class.
Wall Street Journals suck & so do quizes. The tests dont test if you know the info but test if you can untangle the tricky questions. It was an okay class but hard to get used to.
Two words---worst & hard.
This guy is great! Pay attention in class, and skim the front page of the Wall St. Jrnl. on Monday and you r prepared for the quiz on Friday. He wrote the book so his lectures and notes go together perfectly. Has a dry (mildly comical) sense of humor. I wish he tought every ECON class. Examples on tests/quizzes taken from lectures (#'s changed)
Really good teacher. Explains everything very well.
This guy talks in circles! He is so boring! Very hard to follow. He will explain a concept for a half hour and then say but don't do it that way. So I ask why would he go into such depth. I wrote the book so it is just as confusing as him
This teacher is boring !!! But his lecture is exactly what is in the text (bc he wrote it) Pay attention is class ad read the WAll Street Journal every week for his weekely quiz. Easy class to get a B or an A with little effort.
oh my god, i couldnt believe these comments...he is by far the most boring teacher. i think he bored himself in class. dont even think about taking him, he takes attendance and it takes off on your final, do yourself a favor and take this class with ANYONE else, i wish someone wouldve warned me
Personally, I did well in this class (I received an A). I felt that the material in his text and the practice problems given (with answers to check) were consistent with the quizzes and exams. If you study the material, it makes all the difference. I am minoring in economics and plan to take another micro-based course with Prof. Egger.
I recieved a B in this class. Must read the book. Makes you read the Wall Street Journal. Takes attendance every class. Lectures right from the book because he wrote it himself. If you are a hard worker you'll do fine.
Very Enthusiastic, examples are verbatum from the txt though
lectures straight from the book, makes you read the wall street journal, his questions on quizzes dont make any sense hes not clear whatsoever, quiz every friday, worst teacher ive had in years. he thinks of the most confusing way to explain things. thinks hes funny but hes not. DO NOT TAKE HIM you will die of boredom
nice, but strict and quizzes every week. If you dont study a ton every week don't expect to pass.
Alrite the class: He gives quizzes every Fri (There are 10 you can drop 3) He gives 3 tests (Drop your lowest). You have to read specific sections of the wall street journal but as longs as you read atleast 3 outta 7 papers that come each week you should be fine for the quizzes. If you read the textbook and pay attention in class you ull be fine
Very Very boring profesor. He takes attendence every class, but he just lectures from his book. Easy class if you study the book and do all his practice problems or test. If you study then this is an easy class.
Tough class. Read the textbook and do studyguige problems
very bad teacher-asked to remake a test because I had to go my aunt's funeral on a day of a test-told me I woulnd't be able to make it up...calls people out in class...DONT TAKE HIM!
Very gung-ho about the subject, and text (which he wrote) is VERY wordy. Chapters are about 20 pgs, 10pt font & single-spaced. One chapter a week w/ quizzes every Friday. 10 quizzes, takes the best 7. 3 exams, takes best 2. Cumulative final. Takes attendance every class (it impacts your participation grade). makes you subscribe to the WSJ.
Attendance is mandatory, lectures straight from the book (that he wrote himself), gives a Quiz every Friday and 3 exams. HE WILL NOT LET YOU RETAKE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. I was admitted to the hospital and missed a test, had my discharge papers from the hospital and he still would not let me retake the test. Overall, he knows his stuff.
His class is very hard. His book is very wordy and i cant understand what he talks about. and tells very bad jokes. he needs to retire.
There is a textbook that he wrote and almost teaches exactly from. Gives quizzes each friday for a total of 10 but the best 7 count. He also gives 3 exams and the lowest one is dropped. He also makes you read certain pgs of the Wall Street Journals for some quizzes. Attendance is MANDATORY. Read the WSJs and textbook and work on problems and exercises and you'll do fine.
He is a fairly easy teacher, and if you read the book and do the exercises every week, you'll pass. But his teaching style is bad, his book is horrible, and he isn't interesting at all. He makes you read the Wall Street Journal every week, but you don't use it that much, so if you can avoid spending the $35 on it, don't get the subscription.
class is hard, asks for a lot of work outside of class 6hrs of regular reading and studying plus homework and reading the wallstreet journal
Very difficult to understand with strangely worded tests. Massive amount of required reading and you can't get away without doing it. Lectures are the worst; boring, and not informative. He is very biased. Any view on something besides his own, however well supported, will be shot down no matter what. Very old fashioned. No hats, gum, water, phone, etc
Great teacher. . . Made me like economics. He gave clear, concise, easy to follow examples.
Never take him unless you like teachers that make it so easy in class then twist everything around on tests to make you fail!
This man is the bane of my mornings. He is so nutty and incomprehensible its annoying. His jokes are terrible and he doesnt allow any kind of electronics in the room. Its like hes a caveman who is scared of a cell phone. The class is ridiculous and insanely hard since he based it off his own book. The class is basically him reading the book. AVOID!
Never again.
Uses his own textbook, which is kind of wordy and sometimes hard to follow.Very old fashioned and does not use any technology in his class. Mandatory attendance. Created his own exercises in book that are difficult. Also must subscribe to the wall street journal for random articles. 3 tests and drops lowest grade
just trust me, STAY AWAY! It seriously is impossible to pass his tests... class is way boring.. and that stupid stupid text book that he made! yes he came up with his own textbook... is insanely hard to follow, not to mention will take half your life to read. He is nice and lectures are informative, but it seriosuly is impossible to pass. STAY AWAY
Although he is a dork, wrote the textbook, and econmics are boring...at least with egger you learn the stuff. If you do what he says you will learn it, but theres alot of reading and one quiz a week. Good teacher in terms of getting the material through to the students (actually teaching)... but its boring stuff.
unless you have a hardon for pain, torture, missery and adam smith do not take this old mans class. He rambles on for the entire class period about the joys of lazze fair capitalism, discourages questions, participation and understand from his students.
If you don?t understand his lectures and you will he wont answer your questions or help you solve your problems, he only will talk down to you and make you feel dumb for having questions on a tough subject that he does not teach well. He is a terrible teacher avoid him like the plague.
He is a fascist pig, who believes in lassie fair capitalism and if you don?t he will fail you. Doesn?t like questions or class participation for that matter, only likes to listen to his own voice, and only his opinion matters. Do not take his class unless you want to throw away your money and learn nothing!! He fails as a teacher and shoud retire
He is a good teacher. His lectures are helpful to what would be on the quizes that are taken every friday. That means new chapter every week. Wrote his book and is very wordy and boring. Takes long to read and sometimes hard to understand. good teacher though
He started a new thing this semester called Aplia. It is online, where you do homework. The text book is also online. He doesn't understand the Aplia program and can't even answer the questions himself. His lectures are boreing and not helpful at all. His exams are very hard. There is homework every week due online my midnight on Sunday.
He is a horrible teacher. The fact that he uses the book he wrote himself is even worse. Is not compationate and understanding. If there is any way you can avoid taking this class, don't take it. I had to, and learned my mistake, never again.
The professor that i've disliked most. This class shouldn't be as difficult as he made it. You will have to order the wall street journal to read one or two sections out of it, as well as purchase an online program called aplia. He doesn't know how to use Aplia himself, so don't ask for help. Lectures are very dry. Don't recommend him.
Pretty tough, most of that has to do with the course itself though. Egger actually teaches compared to some professors just throwing up a powerpoint. Attendance is mandatory, quiz every friday, tests are tough. Definitely gotta study
Easy to get an A if you do homework, take good notes and study them. You really dont need to read the book he covers everything. Read the newspaper articles he assigns they're half of your quiz grade.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!THis was the worst class I have ever taken.I took the class as a graduate class. This guy doest know how to teach. His grading is awful and unfair. He didnt know how to explain some economic models with out the text book.Avoid this class and this man with all cost!
Avoid this man.He and his teaching skills are awful. Not to mention his shady grading policies.I'm in the process of filing a formal complain with the university as we speak!
good teacher, kinda hard to understand his theories sometimes. Have to study alot!! and read the journal
HORRIBLE class, i understand most of the material but for some reason still failed the test. His wording of questions is extremely complicated, i found myself reading the multiple choice questions over 3 times and still didn't get it. You HAVE to read the chapters in order to understand. This class took over 8 hrs a week of studying, DONT TAKE EGGE
failed his class, horrible teacher avoid him!!
All in all good teacher he really knows his stuff. Problems he takes attendance and will strictly dock your grade. He assigned SO MUCH reading 1200page novel on top of an average of 100pages of additional reading (every week) and his textbook (~ch. per week). Tests Q's can be difficult.
Egger is full of himself that he wrote his own book for class. He can't explain things simply so it confuses everyone. He has a workbook you have to do everyweek but he may not collect it and give you a quiz instead. He favors the quizes and he is an unfair grader. I had a right answer but didnt put it in his stupid box so he marked wrong.
Egger is def. full of himself, i agree. He writes his own textbooks and workbooks and refuses to teach from any other sources. He is an economist hiself, so he makes everything seem sooooo important. He makes the class subscribe to Wall Street Journal (which is an additional $30 bucks) and he gives quizzes EVERY FRIDAY! His teaching style is ok...
this is the worst teacher i ever had. he sounds like the teacher from buehlers day off. he believes he knows everything about econ. grading sucks. lectures is really boring. i believed i did about 10 hrs of outside of work read the wallstreet journal everyday which is incoherent with whats going on. he wont help you. does not go over quizez.
absolutly horrible teacher. inaccurate grading. doesnt actually teach anything. pretty much states exactly what he says in HIS text book during his classes. he words things that even english professors probably wouldnt understand, and compleicates everything. he will answer questions, but with terms you still dont get.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had by far, thinks he knows everything economics when he actually knows nothing when his material in HIS textbook are the complete opposite then all other sources. His tests and quizzes are terrible, extremely unclear in questions and answers. One of those teachers that tries to trick you on his tests.
strongly avoid. teaches from his own textbook using terms he created that makes no sense to other economists, makes you purchase a $30 WSJ subscription. nit picks about everything
Avoid at all costs! I got a B+ in his class, but had to work soo hard to get it. Many people failed out because it was just too much information. QUIZ EVERY FRIDAY. Quizzes you on book material and articles from Wall Street Journal. Final is ridiculously hard. AVOID AVOID!!!
give out a quiz EVERY FRIDAY which is really annoying. Takes attendance every single class at the beginning of the class. makes you buy wall street journal and read 5 specific articles per week for the quizzes. 3 tests and drops the worst one which is nice! but the tests are hard. i would avoid.
Prof. is very dry, strict, demanding, and boring. Avoid at all cost... I wish I had.
Not bad just really hard to understand. The quizzes are easy but most people don't do well because nobody buys the Wall Street Journal. Lectures out of his own book so read it if you are confused about something. Very willing to help you. I have emailed him a few times and he always helps me out.
Egger makes micro way harder than it actually is. If you can drop out I would suggest you do so. I had him for my freshman year and it was the only class that stressed me out.
Do not take his class. he is a very nice man, and has been teachinfor forever. but he thinks that we all understands what he says and we don't. he doesn't really explain things. You have quizzes every Friday and the questions on the tests and quizzes are unlike what are in the wkbk.
Egger sucks, there are so many easier econ teachers out there. Do your self a favor and take someone else. I got a B but I worked my tail off for it. He thinks he's some sort of unique economist whos smarter than the rest.
Egger is really enthusiastic about econ;however, because he has so much experience he doesn't know how to teach down. In class the concepts do not seem so bad but the tests are completely different than anything we had ever done. Plus his wording on tests were terrible. You'll need the textbook and the workbook and a subscription to the WSJ.
i think people exaggerate the difficulty of this class. go to class, you'll do fine. quiz every week that is worth 2 points! he tells you what articles from wsj to read and you can find most of them online. i used the workbook to study for every test and it's a great tool. not an easy a by any means, but it's college, you have to put in the effort.
Professor Egger is a good professor to for this course. As long as you put in effort and come to class to take notes, you will do fine. The workbook contains pretty much the same questions that will be on the test. Definitely a college level course.
He obviously knows what he is talking about and is good at explaining, BUT he wrote his own textbook based on his own personal views, for which I did not agree with so it was hard to listen at times. Also, he makes you subscribe to the Wall Street journal for quizzes, which is pricey and does not actually add anything to the class.
he's one of the worst professors i've ever had.
Professor Egger does not know how to clearly explain the concepts of this course. Nor was he willing to stop and go back over topics that I was confused about.
