Do NOT take this teacher. Most of the class drops him by the end, and if you don't, you screw yourself over. He is the meanest teacher I've ever met.
I had the unfortunate luck of knowing both him, and his son whom I went to H.S. with. Both are nuts, and this class was bad.....Dropped it like a bad habit.

Most people who say he is hard have dropped his class. Take ALOT of notes and read his notes on the website and review ALOT. No papers or homework.

he is sarcastic and really funny, but really hard. his tests are impossible and he makes you think til your head hurts. stay as far away from him as you can...
Funny, fat, no hw/papers. Tests are a mindgame: easy if you read the chapters, but he'll use tricks to catch those who don't. Doesn't even make you buy a textbook--it's free online. Pretty interesting, but don't talk in class, or he'll kick you out.

This is the worst professor to take because he really can't teach. He's horrible and dont ever take him as your professor because he can be your worst nightmare.

Tests are pretty straightforward. 3 tests, counting the final. Short answer questions and true/false. He does use mindgames, so keep that in your head. He'll kick you out if you talk in class. Not an easy A, but not too hard to get one.

In philosophy I learned that you OUGHT to do whats good as a person (I learned this from the book, not his lectures) This man manages to contradict what he teaches.He promotes intimidation, fear and has a condescending demeanor toward students. DROP!!!
He's not that bad guys. His exams come straight from the book, word for word-easy. yea, 7pg final but thats ALL you had to know..He always gave us the entire test before the test..and hes helpful during review sessions..just read the tb and pay attn.
The worst mistake I made was taking this class becuz it was the only PHI class still open (surprise, surprise), and then not dropping out when half the class did. He is the meanest, most spiteful teacher I ever met. My GPA has suffered from this class.

Yes, his lectures are boring but with some effort, very passable. Talk to him, he likes a good joke. He's very approachable and will talk to anyone.
Odd class. The whole semster i felt intimidated by him. But, just when u thought u were in for it, he gives u the answers to the final exam while your taking it. What a f---in guy. If you can survive until the end, it's worth it. Ask him questions from time to time, he seems to enjoy that.

not fun. confusing. tests are not easy. he gives half the second test. still hard. lectures are boring. not worth it.
He is not hard in the grading. All 3 tests are out of his notes copy and pasted. First test is 100+ fill ins but right out of notes. Second is matching but you get one column and third is easy final. 200 T/F and answers are either all T or all F. Can't go wrong if you read his notes and the tb.

this guy had his fly open for the entire lecture once. hes mean and cranky, and tough. his tests are patterns. if u recgonize the pattern, any idiot can get a 100. its 100 t/f, either all true or all false. so pretty much, if you're sure of one question, that'll be the answer for all your other 99 questions. he likes debate. so talk up in class.

only take this class if you have a big tolerance for jerklike behavior. he's a good professor though, smart and through. tests are okay as long as you study his notes pretty much word for word. don't disrespect him and he won't disrespect you. reading the book for the paper kills a lot of your time, so don't wait till the last min.
His bark is bigger than his bite. He doesn't really care about giving a grade, just as long as you learn something, and talk in class. The tests are from his notes entirely, the textbook is horrible, so don't even buy it. If you show that you are interested, and show up at every class, you will be gauranteed an A. Don't disrespect him.
TAKE THIS CLASS. it's very easy although it requires like 3 hours time for memorization just the night before the tests/final. EASY A!! you don't even need to show up for class. Just show up for the tests =]
This prof is trash. Boring lectures. Extremely difficult exams and requires you to read 2 500pgs textbooks. First grade avg was a 72 and that was with a curve! From my class, over 8 ppl withdrew from his class. Enough said. Did I mention he's arrogant and senile too.

This colonel sanders look-alike is unpolite, narrow-minded, stubborn, prejudiced, overly technical, and with a extremely bad sense of sarcastic "humor." Basically, you don't think in his class at all, he just keep stuffing his opinions, tedious theories, and useless stories in your face and you have to take the notes since it will be on the tests.

I dread going to his class ever single day. What the hell is he talking about half the time? His test are unreasonable and what he talks about half the time is useless information. He doesnt realize that no one listens to him, half the class is zoning out. This teacher shouldnt be teaching at all. If you get him, switch out.

He is HARD. 3 tests. 1st and 2nd ones are most difficult, and you should try to get a copy from an upperclassmen. The 3rd is the final, and it was all true or all false depending which version you have. Your final grade is also very heavily influenced by the final paper. Work hard on it because it DEFINATELY pays off, and he'll give you an A.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. The first test is impossible, the second is decent, and the final is either all true or all false. This class causes way too much stress and worry. Try to get out of it, and if not.. it's possible to do well, but it takes a lottt of work for a philosophy course!

i never got the book. stopped goin to class at the end. and i got an A. How? I had past exams. Seriously, thats the only way to do well in his class. No matter how hard u study or how well u know the material, you're not getting an A w/o help of previous tests.

I don't even know if most of these reviews are serious, but Dr. Konecsni is probably one of the best and most helpful professors at this university.
For those who say you need old exams to pass, you're completely right. BUT for every test he gave a copy of the exam the week before, so im not sure what the complaints are about. He is also sarcastic,and seems rude but if you don't have a sense of humor then that's your problem. Great man, wonderful teacher, easy A but still learn a lot.
Truly is a great professor. He really knows his stuff and knows how to explain it in layman's terms. Gives you the tests at least a week in advance to get your terms straight. ...Bad past ratings are probably from people who were too lazy to fill out those test sheets, imho.
He's a tricky one. If you have his old tests, his class is easy. Very very easy. However, his lessons have nothing to do with the test. He goes off telling stories in class that have nothing to do with what will be on the test. And he is not helpful at all. He doesn't care about his students. He is not willing to help anyone out.
ONLY take him if you have access to his old exams. Otherwise, I suggest a different teacher. He's not very helpful and goes off on tangents often. He may or may not give you a final, depends on how he feels. The final paper isn't bad as long as you've fared well on his exams.
you definitely need his old exams! but even if you don't have it, its ok. he gives a study sheet prior to exam, that's basically the whole exam and just MEMORIZE! this class is basically all MEMORIZATION. the textbook isn't really needed. theres 2 exams, a final and a paper due. not too bad, but pretty boring. he's really sarcastic!
I dont know why so many people are complaining about him. I did not have old exams and still got a high grade. If you dont show up to class- dont complain. sends you review sheet which is the exam- fill it out using ebook (word for word) do the paper, and you do need to put work into this class.

He has a total disregard for his students and their needs. He is not helpful and rude. His lectures have nothing to do with what is represented on the tests; he gives little to no work causing your grade to depend solely on the tests which he does not return with a grade on them. There are 4 tests and although you get a study guide he does not help
He is a horrible teacher. His ideas are great but he's just such a horrible teacher. I made the mistake of taking it at 7:30. The second test killed my grade because he made the test really confusing and it was nothing like he described it to be. Average on that test was 46, lowest was 17. Only 3 tests in the semester. Study hard or don't take it.
Do not take him. I had to drop his class it was so bad. I had it at 7:30 AM, which did not help how boringhard it was. He makes no sense and even the textbook doesnt help. His class is literally impossible. Avoid at all costs.
Konescni is one of the smartest professors you'll ever have. That being said, he's TOO smart to be an undergraduate professor, in my opinion. I've never stressed more over a class! Tests were incredibly tough, with people scoring in the teens. He definitely makes you work for a good grade, but I must say, I learned A LOT.
He is an okay professor. There is only 3 exams. The first one is on vocabulary. Make sure to study the definitions in the glossary. Second test is matching. He gives you a review sheet but the review sheet is confusing and you have find the answers yourself. The last one is true or false. Study hard for the exams and you'll do well.
DON'T TAKE! His lectures are unclear and so note taking is difficult. Even if you study you will have a hard time with this course. His textbook, which he wrote himself, is absolutely useless. SWITCH IF YOU CAN
Look, this professor is nice enough but his class is not good at all. His lectures are all over the place and make no sense. In class I could not follow what he was talking about. I'm a pretty tolerant guy but for a compulsory class like PHI1000, it would be best to take someone else. Tough grader and has a nasty attitude when criticized slightly.
Lectures are boring, make no sense, and seem to go on forever. I skipped class religiously. He wrote HIS OWN textbook.. But tests are relatively easy if you can memorize. First test is straight vocabulary. Final was like 300 true/false questions, and the entire test was true... like really? Don't do it to yourself. Just take someone else.
Just drop the class. Don't do it to yourself. He's not just a horrible professor but he is a bad person in general. His lectures make no sense and seem to go on forever. If a student has a question he degrades the student for asking and does not clearly answer the question. I did well in the class but it was not worth it. Worst professor ever.
He is a tough professor, everything is memorization; reading the text is the ultimatum. Personally, I am not a fan of professors like Konecsni, however, he isn't a bad guy. Very awkward at times but not a bad guy. He is much of an enigma but you have to be to teach philosophy. If you like a challenge, then go for it. Otherwise, steer clear. Cheers

If I were you, if you registered for him I suggest that you drop the class. First of all, you ask him questions and he doesn't even answer them correctly. Second of all, he's horrible professor who is not at all entertaining. He tries to use other types of voices and he expects people to laugh like no. Just don't torture yourself.

If you take good notes and are good at memorizing the class should be easy. There are only 3 tests in the semester (aside from the final) and all are fill-in the blank. Note taking could be tricky because usually the seemingly insignificant stuff is what appears on the test. He sometimes gives study guides, which are exactly the same as the test.
This professor is incredible. have to wake up at 6:50 every-time to go to this horrible professor's class until I couldn't bear to withdraw this class because I had a F in this class. He is a mean guy and there was no interaction at all in class and I found that taking this class is a waste of time cuz you learned nothing. All I want to say f** him
We took quizes every day for the first half of the course which was a little annoying but if you show up early he will tell you the answers. I honestly don't know how i survived his lectures at 7:30 although i skipped the last 2 weeks before the final since i had enough. If he gives you a review sheet for the test that will literally be exactly how the test will look. He curved for my class which saved my grade. Final was 200 questions T/F and everything was true. Would not recommend.
Avoid this class at all costs. The professor is not helpful, is really rude, and drinks a litter of ice tea or snapple everyday. He talks in many accents, and does not know hoe to teach. Lectures have nothing to do with test. Don't need to sho up. the 100q fine for the T/F test was all true. Says he is not religious, but took the cross out and pray
honestly his class wasn't so bad, his quizzes are really easy and the final was a joke too. he basically gave us the final beforehand in the form of a review sheet and it was the exact same thing as the test. true/false all answers were true. I stopped going to class for the last 3 weeks and still got an A.
Best part was he allowed us to come up with our own class syllabus (the % for participation, tests, quizzes). My class chose 12 quizzes(1 each chapter) and 1 final. Participation does matter- you have to sign in. You need the book- it was written by him. The readings put me to sleep- made no sense. For the final all answers were true. He was okay.
