If you don't like english, or writing, this is the class for you. Very laid back and I actually think it made me a better writer. Only 3 papers and class discussions are usually interesting. No homework at all, except sometimes read 10 pages, but really easy class!! TAKE IT.

Had him for HST114. Very boring lectures. Exams are right from the study guide. Very lenient towards exams, essays, and assignments. There are HW out of the book. And 2 book reports. Overall, very easy class and professor.

Mr.Freeman is a great rhetoric teacher. His 3 writing assignments were very interesting and easy to let yourself get involved in. his attendence is not mandatory, but it certainly helps to go. He is very down to earth, and easy to get along with. If you need a rht 160 prof this is an excelent choice, you will not be dissapointed!

He is really, really, smart. He knows about what hes lecturing. Hes tests are right from the study guide, and hes pretty lenient. Loved Him!

Very straightforward and down to Earth. Tries to make things interesting with little quips and jokes on occasion. Supplements his powerpoints with the lecture. Tests are made from the study guide. Easy, very easy going with HW. Prefers things typed. Very nice guy!

Mr. Freeman is an excellent teacher not only because of his teaching methods, but because he is very laid back and easy to talk to. I'm usually afraid to ask teachers questions, but with him I wasn't scared at all because he makes you feel such at ease. He makes the class very interesting and tries his best to get everyone involved.

Professor Freeman is by far the best professor I've had at OU. He cares about the students and will help you in any way possible. His papers weren't hard and were actually interesting to do! He's very approachable and kind hearted. I recommend him to everyone!!! :)

Best professor yet. Didn't understand the all the Big Lebowski references or why he related "Howl" by Ginsberg to MTV's Rock 'N Jock Softball. Probably just went over my head. Does anyone know if he's single?

Professor Freeman was excellent teacher of both classes I took with him, 150 and 160. Come to class, take an interest in the material (it's easy), ask questions and turn in everything on time and you're golden. He really shows a passion for what he teaches, and it showed in my papers. (I actually learned the material!)

Such a good professor! If he had a WRT 160 class I would SO take it! I had no interest in WRT and took the class because its a reqiurement, and he made coming to class interesting. I always looked forward to his class. Always willing to help, and because of how the class is run, I was able to meet people in my class, who I am now very close with.

Great professor. Kinda boring class, but he did his best keeping interesting. Very easy class. 4 papers, and you turn in paragraph by paragraph to him, he corrects and fixes them for you, and hands them back to you the next class period so you can fix them. If you do so, easy A. Easy 4.0 for sure. i got one. just show up

He is a great proffessor! I would definitiyl recomeend him if you are looking for a writing professor. Class is very interesting. Do the papers and participate and a 4.0 is easily achievable.

Loved Prof Freeman and this class! There was kind of a lot of writing to do, but I think he just wanted to see that you put in the effort. Very laid-back, easy on the eyes, plus funny and knowledgeable. Take this class!

Professor Freeman is young and really laid back! I enjoyed his course. I was shocked at how little we had to write. There was 3 papers -1pg,5pg,10pg. They are all due the last day of class. You share each paper with the class and he tells you how to make it better. He is passionate and very helpful! I learned a lot about my own wrt syle! Take him!

Professor Freeman was AWESOME!! He was really laid back and chill. Homework was manageable. He took an interest in everyone's opinion. Never made you feel stupid! Always had a cool personality. Did I mention that he can sing and play the guitar really well :) I'd definitely recommend you to take his class !

Pretty chill guy. Not exactly "fun" but interesting. Seems actually genuine when he asks questions and wants to know what us as students think. 3 papers, easy subjects. easy class to skip. online blog was annoying though.

J Free is a good professor. He is laid back and someone I would consider a hipster. He is easy going and will help you. Only assigns a few essays and gives online forums to complete. John Freeman might be the chillest professor at Oakland University. His class is super easy! Only 3 essays in wrt 150 and 4 in 160. I highly recommend him. Not hard at all. Best of all, no midterms or finals.

Wrt 160 is an easy class but you learn nothing. Also DO NOT buy the textbook. You do not use it.

Very hot. Very helpful. I definitely improved on my writing. It's a lot of writing and revising but if you don't wait until the last second you will do good. He's very well read and the books he chooses are actually good and contemporary memoirs.

This is my second time with this professor and he is still awesome. He has a lot of enthusiasm for teaching and is very knowledgeable. Works will all students to improve their writing. I read the best book ever in this class. I really improved my writing skills this semester. Take Professor Freeman!

Freeman is the man. Great teacher. Great class. It is a very easy class but don't blow it off because if you engage the material you will actually learn a lot from him about writing! Wish I could have taken many more classes with this prof.

A good class where you get what you put in. Listen and engage and you'll learn a lot about writing and get to write on some cool topics, blow it off and do the minimum and you can still skate by. I took him again for WRT160 and it's going well.

Very calm and approachable. If you ask for help anytime he does the best he can to make sure he answers your questions. Assignments are based on issues relevant to today's time, so you actually care what you're writing about. Take this teacher so you can get this gen ed over with and learn a few useful things about today's issues many overlook.

Best writing professor I have every had! The assigments are easy. You do a blog post every week on a topic you choose. 3 papers to write. One on an event you went to, the second on a person who has had an influence in your life, the third on a memorable place that you have been to. You read to Nick Flynn books which are not too bad. Take him!

Professor Freeman is awesome. He is extremely laid-back and an extremely good (and published) writer. If you are an aspiring writer this class will truly help, if you are taking this class because it's required you will do well and learn a lot about writing. 3 essays with lots of revision, reading, and a blog every week is the total work load.

I always recommend him to people who need to take WRT 150. he grades very easily and made class so enjoyable. I have not one complaint about him. Used the book once in a while in class but its very easy to share with someone

Take professor freeman! Although his class periods are boring make sure to attend or your grade will drop. Class barely ever even takes half the time and you don't do much while there. Make sure to turn in complete rough drafts and do the moodle posts and you should easily get a 4.0 in his class! WRT 160 with freeman is very easy and stress free.

No final, just final portfolio. Three big writing projects. Had to start blog and post to it weekly. Great teacher, very informative and helpful. Small class size so you get a lot of one on one help. Gives feed back, and responds to emails fast. Would highly recommend. I learned a lot about writing and fell in love with blogging.

Professor Freeman was great. He was so chill and whenever I asked him a question he would be very clear. We had to purchase the Grizz Writies and also The World is a Text and we went over it a few times but I don't think you should spend your money on it. Try to borrow from a friend. Overall LOVE him!

Such an approachable and kind professor! He truly is someone most students can relate to. The course itself is pretty easy as well; do the blog posts and the three essays and you'll be fine. He offers suggestions on your writing outside of class as well.

Awesome teacher. He was extremely easy and as long as you did the papers he would tell you exactly what you needed to do to get a 4.0.

Very easy class. Professor Freeman is a great teacher. Only a few papers during the semester and lots of time to complete them. Essay prompts are clear and he even edits rough drafts for each essay. Got a 4.0 on every paper. If you have to take WRT150 and have the chance to take it with Freeman do it!!!

Mr. Freeman has to be one of the best professors I've ever had. His assignments were not too difficult and very clear to understand. If you ever has any questions he will clear up any confusion and is always willing to listen and help you. He is very chill and relaxed and gives little to no homework. TAKE HIM FOR WRT 1050 & WRT 1060! He doesnt give u huge research assignments like the other WRT professors. He gives you 3-4 managable essays for the semester & if you show up to class & he sees that you are putting in the effort he will give you a 3.8-4.0. He gives great feedback on your rough drafts which helps you get a 4.0 on the final drafts!

Freeman is awesome. I took him for WRT 1050 & ! WRT 1060. Do the writing assignments and you'll pass.

I love taking classes with Professor Freeman. Easy A if you show up, participate, and do the work. I always learn a LOT in his classes. He definitely helped me to become a better writer. On Friday, a class was online. You create a blog and write 11 posts and create 3 essays, which are peer-reviewed and revised throughout the semester.

Dont procrastinate! Read the books he assigns and thinks will be smooth sailing.

Had him for WRT 1050 and 1060. You are graded on 3 papers and online forums every Friday, easy 4.0 class if you put in the effort.

Easy A if you show up and do the work. Dissmisses class 15 to 20 min early every class period. Class online on Fridays and forums are very easy. Only three papers throughout the semester and all are easy As if you follow all the criteria for the papers. Definitely recommend taking his class for an easy A. Very little work outside of class.

Professor Freeman was easily approachable. He assigned 3 essays which he gave plenty pf time to complete. Make sure to turn in the rough draft on time and make note of his feedback. Friday class is replaced with online assignment.

He's pretty lenient. If you turn something in late and explain why you'll be fine. Offers a lot of time in between essays, only 3 projects for the semester. Attendance is part of your grade. Forums on Fridays that are easy. Offers good feedback so you can improve on writing. Offered extra credit on one of the projects of our choice. so far got As.

He cares about his students. If you miss a due date, he doesn't usually mark you down and lets you submit your work whenever. Show up to class, participate, and you can get easy points. Always ask him questions if you need clarification, he usually responds quickly and is super nice about it!

One of the best and most caring professors I have had. I had to take this class but he actually introduced me to some of my favorite writers. I heard him on NPR once talking about poetry. What a wonderful man and a great teacher too.

This class is an easy A and John Freeman is a great professor and really nice. There were not actual online meetings just do it on your own type of things with due dates. After peer reviews he will give a predicted grade and instructor feedback which helps so much and if you fix everything he marks you're guaranteed to get an A. Must take!!!

Professor Freeman was such a wonderful professor. This was my first semester in college, and he was easily the best professor Ive had. He cares so much about his students and is a very easy grader. If you have the chance DEFINITELY take his class, you will not regret it! He gives great feedback and wants his students to succeed. Highly recommend.

With online learning, classes have been really hit or miss. I ended up having to drop my math class because of how demanding it was, without delivering much substance. John Freeman is the best of online learning. With a more relaxed workload that focuses more on substance than quantity, I felt personally invested in writing assignments. Great guy!

This professor is one of the best out there, he will give you every chance to pass this class. When there is an essay he proof reads it for you and gives you advice, all you need to do is fix it and turn it in to get a good grade.

I took both WRT1050 and 1060 with Professor Freeman and he was absolutely amazing. Super understanding, will work with you, and respects the fact that you have a life outside of his class. I had a family emergency and couldn't turn in a project towards the end of the semester, so we met on a Saturday over Zoom then let me turn it in w/no penalty.

He responds to emails very fast and is very fair and respectful. Papers are only graded by what you submit after he reads it once and as long as you fix everything he makes note of you are all set. Assignments are not too long and the textbook is not bad to read when assigned.

John Freeman is a great writing professor, minimal grades howeverResponds fast to emails and will work with you on things very well. Grading can take some time sometimes but he is a fair grader. The only real grades are final drafts after rough drafts which he gives feedback on so you can get a better grade. Would recommend to anyone.

Just put effort into your projects (and actually try), and you'll be fine. Do expect to write more than minimum, and learn APA format, since that's what WRT1060 is mainly focused on. Rough drafts are like a benchmark of where you're at on the project, before you turn it in for the final grade.

John Freeman is a good professor that gives amazing feedback on the writing projects that I had to take in my WRT1050 class. With that the projects are very demanding and he always has a very specific goal for the rubric, but not a difficult class at all. Very easy A.

Amazing professor! He is very chill and helps you out when you need it and tells you where you went wrong and points out where you did right. We just had three papers to write that were not really hard if you really try and the way he had the projects lined up was very helpful. He even had class demos that helped out as well. 10000% recommend him.

I really liked this class and felt that I learned a lot for it. If you put your all into the prompts and be truly authentic and honest in your writing you are guaranteed to get a good grade. This class was asynch for me and there were a bunch of discussion forums with three writing workshops that you reviewed for your final portfolio. Great class!

He's a chill guy

He was a good professor in my opinion. As a freshman and that being my first writing class he reminded me about assignments and also made sure we connected with our peers. We had GrizzWrites which was like 15-20 dollars.
