at first was very punctual, then he missed about 3 classes. only 4 test and alot of homework and it is optional because you wont get credit for it, but i do recomend you do it. he did make up for his absents, he was very helpfull w/ the last 2 test(they were take home) he is clear and not a mean person.

He's very good teacher. I don't know why there're some bad reviews. took linear algebra, very helpful,he cares more about you knowing the material, can extend the deadlines of take-home quizzes. I'd highly recommend him. do homework even though they're not mandatory. he'll explain any questions u have. very cool!

he's cool!!!!!! he explains and clarify what you question in an easy way. I would recommend him for those who really want to learn math- it becomes interesting with him:)

awsome teacher, i learnt a lot when i took his class. Almost my basic math skill i had in high school was lost before i was in his class. i made an easy A and my math comes back :) I like him, he's cool!!! and genlte.

He is super nice & best prof! VERY passion, and smart, nice & funny! really willing to help! but sure if u in his class, you have to do homework & know something. 'coz he teaches really fast.

He is an cool professor. My only concern was that he moves quickly during class. And he sometimes looks like you are slowing him down when you ask him to explain something again. But he does award hard workers. And if you do the homework and mymathlab practice you should be able to all his exams.

Calculus 3: Comments posted are valid: Will take questions, assigns much homework, teaches straight out of the book, no insights/shortcuts. Doesn't like to draw. In 3-D work, that's a handicap in teaching and learning. You'll have to supplement text/class with lots of You-Tube videos, many of which will make up the deficit. Tests quite hard.

I had a good experience. He's smart and not a jerk. I felt that tests were graded fairly.

I'm still taking him for Cal III. He is a great teacher. You can tell he really knows what he's talking about and therefore makes it easy for the students. He grades on a curve. The tests are shorter than some other teachers I had so you get more time to work the problems out. He's very engaged with the students and has a good attitude.

I love this class. He teaches and has NO problem breaking down the problem. is is very smart but humble enough to admit fault. He is very approachable. and really really understanding.

Great teacher. Made over a 100 in calculus.

I took his summer class. Reminds me of Pleakley (Lilo&Stitch)lol! Always talks about advanced courses. Always 2nd guesses himslef. Curves grades. Gives partial credit on tests. No multiple choice tests. Doesn't allow calculators on most tests. He gets a little aggitated if you ask a question. Invest in the "MyMathLab". It helps!

Good professor. Helpful. Downside is he focuses more on theory. First exam was an easy in-class exam. Other exams 2 were take-home. Final was open book and notes. Also helps when you go and ask him questions.

he is such an understanding professor. he extends due dates on quizzes and assignments. attendance isn't mandatory. and he is always there to assist you with any problem you have. take him! and be sure to do his exam reviews uld definitely pass

Gotta take 3 tests and one final. Lowest is dropped. 50% form 2 tests, 25%final and 25% homework. Difficult to understand because he is very theoretical person and it is difficult to get him. Very smart and nice man. Mostly I didn't know what he was talking about. Very kind and nice person. Just go home and solve the practice test. Almost the same

I have to say professor Giles was a amazing professor, he is a easy grader. However he gives grade back very late and he will give extra credit after each exam. Btw his lecture maybe boring but worth to listen some.

Honestly he gives you everything you need to pass the class even if you're so bad at math he gives you so much extra credit he works on some examples but expects you to be at the college algebra level. super nice man

Really great teacher. hes super nice and if you miss homework hes very understanding. you don't have to stay the whole class you just need to show up to sign the attendance sheet which is very nice. you have online homework like all other math classes but not an overwhelming amount. 3 tests and about 40 total hw assignments. easy and nice guy

He is a really good professor. Love that he give you extra time to complete your homework online. He gives extra credit. Really nice and calm professor.

Not great at tasks like getting a syllabus ready or grading tests quickly, but he is great at teaching theory and makes it interesting. He also is understanding that summer classes are hard esp. if you work full-time. If you keep up with HW and do the test study guides you will get an A. He is a pretty easy grader and curves/ drops lowest test.

Professor Giles is honestly a really good teacher. If you like to listen and take notes, but don't like to participate take him. The online homework honestly isn't bad if you keep up with it the whole semester instead of waiting last minute. He gave me a B when i definitely felt like i deserved an F. The reviews are EXACTLY like the test.

Professor Giles was a very nice and understanding man. Math has never been my strong suit but Professor Giles gives credit on tests for things such as showing work or even getting a close answer. He is a generous grader and a great teacher. I received a B in his class when I probably deserved an F. Thank you, Mr. Giles.

He's a nice instructor. Online class is always tougher and more work is required. Make sure you're ready to read if you're taking his online class. He first put a bit too many homework online but since we asked him to reduce the amount of homework, he understood and did it so that was helpful. I got A for my class. This professor is absolutely wonderful, he is understanding and clearly passionate about Mathematics. As long as you show up, try hard to learn the material, he will work with you. TAKE HIS CLASS YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

I don't know what are y'all so pressed about. He is exactly how a Math professor should be. He means business. He expects you to know the basics of Math because this was a College Algebra class, and if you are upset that he did not spend time explaining factorization then you're the problem not him. I'm glad I took his class. Thank you, Professor.

Professor Giles teaches straight out of the book. He gives long lectures and expects you to know basic algebra based on how he teaches. The teaching structure is a bit unorganized, there are 3 exams and he replaces the lowest score with a H.W grade. All in all good professor if you know your basics, the reviews are EXACTLY like the exams.

John Giles is a wonderful teacher and very forgiving. I spent A LOT of time using resources outside the classroom to be successful and understand Calc 2 material. This is not an easy class, it requires constant practice. He provides study guides that are just like the test. Do them, ask for help, use tutoring, you will get an A, if you work for it!
