I had this prof. in high school and our school used to take the top three spots in national competitions. college isnt about getting easy A's . . . it's about working to improve yourself. stop whining and do the homework; you'll actually learn!!

Senor Haan is a great professor, you just have to know how to understand his humor. I learned so much in this class. Go to class, do the homework, and he gives you a copy of the test the night before. Really cool guy.

He is very funny and fun, but also extremely demanding. Does tend to make fun of students who don't give right answers, but if you know your stuff, you will learn A TON! Explains things well, just don't take if you don't want to be put on the spot a lot

He is very demanding... but in a good way. He is hilarious and makes class interesting. If you show up and show that you care- do your work and go to lab- you will be fine. If you are a wuss you might wanna find a different prof.

i really like this professor. Although this woudlnt be the teacher for you if u cant take criticism or havent had 4 years prior to. hes very enthusisastic and makes learning fun.

He does not pick on people he does not like, everyone is called on equally. He moves fast, but every week is very predictable. There is a pretty heavy load of hw. This the most fun and quick class I have had and I only had 1 yr of SPA 2 prior.

Don't let eveyone's opinion scare you. I learned more in this class than I imagined I could gain in one semester. Get ready to be on your toes...but if you really want to learn spanish, I recommend him, not recommended for slackers.

Haan was such a pain in class. I never appreciated everything I learned until 5 years after high school. Herr Haan was a great teacher. Look past the faults and take this guy's course!!

If you want to learn a lot in one semester take this class. But also be ready to work hard. If you do all of your homework and put in effort, you will not get picked on.

He likes to pick on students who don't do the work, so do the homework. He gives a lot but most of it is extra credit so it's not that hard to pass if you do the work. Definetley not recommended for someone looking for an easy class, but he gets the information across well.

Has sense of humor, if you are not over sensitive, you will like him. Go to class every day and you will get a good grade. Tests every week, but he goes over the material each day of the week, so if you go, you will do well. He gives take home tests the night before, so that helps too.

Sr. Haan is a great professor. The people here who are rating him badly obviously didn't do the homework. I always did my homework and I normally got A's and B's on tests. If you do the homework you will be fine. Just do your homework, and respect him, and you will enjoy the class. (Laugh at him!!)

I agree with some of this stuff he can be hard on his students but he gives you the tests and quizes a head of time do all home work and show up and you will get and A. HE can be a jerk but he is funny and doesnt take students crap.

Very good prof. He has a difficult style that is hard to get used to at first, but it helps in the long run. The "Busy work" they're talking about is repetitive work, but that's what you need in a language class to memorize the words. Definitely take if you want to actually use Spanish in the future.

Don't take if you can't handle teasing. His humor is crazy but fun; he is a softy if you get to know him. Just don't take him seriously:he doesn't, and give him some heck. You get tons of worksheets but learn. Plus, he doesn't check them. Do it all and you are guaranteed a B. Extra credit for translations every day and take home tests. Take him!

Whether you like him or not, his teaching style is extremely effective, and you will learn a lot if you take any of his classes. If you're thin-skinned, steer clear.

He gives alot of homework but thats how you learn a language! If you can't take teasing and a fast pace don't take the class. If you want a class that drills the fundamentals of spanish this is the one. Do the work and go to class and you will learn something.

He is strict, but if you come to class and do the work it is an A. He also prepares you for future classes.

Although he's an **** and will make fun of you if you don't know how to do things, he prepares you for ALL future Spanish classes and makes you learn like a college student by making you teach yourself things. Don't take this class if you can't handle an extremely mean sense of humor (He made a girl stand up and told her she was fat)

He's a pain in the ass, and he induces anxiety with verbal drills everyday, but we learn!If you can't handle teasing or on the spot drilling, don't take this class, but he knows his stuff and is one you could go to in the future. Definitely will prepare you for other Spanish classes by reinforcing everything.

He was a good teacher but wouldn't tell you your grade until the very end. He would make class interesting and never a dull moment in his class. He loves giving you busy work and usually have to do test once and then do them again.

Very good prof! Very energetic and demands classroom participation, there is never a dull day in his class! There are a lot of worksheets, but they are helpful, and attendance is VERY mandatory. Very knowledgeable in Spanish and willing to help with whatever you need! Very good class for students who need a refresh course in Spanish.

Senor Haan is the best professor I have had yet here at GVSU. He can be a little intimidating at first, but once you realize that he teases everyone, and soon the spotlight will be off you, you can just laugh. I look forward to this class every day, seriously. Lots of homework, but i've never understood spanish better then I do now.TAKE HIM.

This professor was incredible. He was very helpful and funny. He's not an easy "A", and can be exhausting because of his homework load, but every class is a riot. I took an evening class with him and I hate evening classes, but he made it very fun and interesting. Participation is mandatory and lab attendance. Take him, you'll learn a TON!

He should never have left the realm of high-school teaching. He is rude and often misunderstands students and then berates them endlessly. He wastes SO much time in class picking on people, making them LEAVE the room or stand up in front for 5 minutes. Not appropriate for a college course. I put forth the effort but still got a C in the class.

Senor Haan is kinda crazy but if you can handle a joke than you will have no problem with his odd sense of humor. He is very demanding of his students but I learned a lot from him! You will never appreciate this teacher until you're 25-30 years old. I used to butt heads with him all the time. He's, however, the best instructor I've ever had.

He tells you the very first day what you need to do to succeed in his class, and he tells the truth. All you have to do is go to class and do all the work and you should get an A. However, there is a lot of work and at first Senor Haan seems really rude so that can make it a little more tough to show up, but eventually most people end up liking him

Senor Haan was extremely intimidating at first, but I would highly reccommend him to anyone interested in learning Spanish. I am in 201 now and its wayyy easier then anything we ever did in his class. Getting an A is extremely easy with all the extra credit he offers, and class was never boring.

Sr. Haan is an INCREDIBLY gifted teacher. His outre and unconventional style kept me interested...once I got over the initial shock. If you are SHY or SENSITIVE, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Otherwise, you will come out of his class speaking/reading/writing better than you ever have. BOOM.

Senor Haan is very different from most profs. After about a month in the class you begin to get used to his differences. Hes very straight forward and tells you exactly what you have to do. Good professor. DON'T BE LAZY IN HIS CLASS! DO ALL OF YOUR HOMEWORK, BE TO CLASS EVERYDAY, DO YOU LABOS, AND WHATEVER ELSE HE ASSIGNS.

Officially my favorite professor at GVSU. I love his sarcasm, and he is a really good teacher. I learned a lot in his class. I would take him for every Spanish class if I could! Gracias!

I took Haan my first semester of my freshman year, and am now a 5th year senior. I STILL use things from his class, and I'm taking my Spanish capstone this year. This guy is phenominal if you can get over his bluntness. Do ALL the homework (there is a TON), participate, and take his sick humor with a grain of salt, and you're set.

Spanish classes are taught at a very rapid pace. somewhat unclear about assignments at times but overall an enjoyable prof.

This guy is great. You will learn tons if you just put forth an effort. The best prof to have if you're taking a language.

Great professor. If you have no prior Spanish experience, it may be a harder for you. He's repetitive on important vocab, but other than that he covers a chapter per week and doesn't get behind. He gives a lot of extra credit! DON'T take his class if you're overly sensitive - you absolutely need to have a sense of humor. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

Most AMAZING teacher I've ever had! Very intense and you have to be prepared to be embarrassed, but you learn SO much in the process. He's hilarious. Lots of extra credit and there is no reason for anyone to get anything less than an A in his class. He hands out the tests the class before based on class participation, no reason to fail a test!

Bring this guy back. Students in his class learn a ton.

Haan, is amazing. She really enjoys teaching, she is very caring, and is willing to lend a hand. Quiz'es everyday class meets! Homework you need to do, and Lab is very easy, just choose wisely! Haan does offer a few extra credit opportunities so take advantage.
