He is hilarious. You will have tons of fun. Very understanding and knowledgeable man. Excellent mind,can only teach you the best. TAKE HIM! The book kinda sucks, would be better if they had better books.

Very good teacher!! Gives outlined notes and puts them up online- have three tests, which he basically gives you beforehand. You always do reading responses for the chapter, which are basically just graded on whether or not you turn them in, and they count for 40% of grade. Very easy to do well in class. Plus he's very funny and interesting.

This guy is ****in tight. I forgot to turn in a Reading Response and I emailed him about it and he let me turn it in for full credit. The class is not just a boring lecture and he picks great movies that correspond well with the lesson. And as previously stated, not bad to look at!

He is a really entertaining teacher. Knows his subject and you can tell he loves it. Test are easy because of his "study guides" which are the actual test, and reading responses are very easy. Take this class, you won't regret it.

Cossar completely rules. He really enjoys film and it shows. He selects great films that demonstrate the aesthetics from each time period. He is engaging and his class is actually making me consider switching to film as my major, too bad there aren't more professors like him.Just be sure to single space the book exercises and know the study guide.

Cossar is one of the Best! Tests are easy becasue they come directly from the study guide. Watch a lot of films that DO relate the lecture! Don't Cheat! HE will make it clear on why! Book Assignments must be single-spaced. Overall Fun Class!

3 tests. 5-7 one or two question assignments. Gives you a study guide that is the exact test in a slightly different order. If you find the answers to his study guides, it's almost impossible not to get an A on all 3 tests. Assignments are just 1 page completion answers. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The most enjoyable class I've ever taken. However, he will not tell you any of your grades, so you could be failing and have no idea at all. Do all of your assignments and remember that it isn't a free A. He is wonderful and you will learn a ton.

I love his class. He's passionate about movies, the material is interesting, and you're going to get a good grade. This class makes me want to take more film classes; it's been my favorite class this semester. I highly recommend.

My only complaint about Dr. Cossar is not getting my papers back. It's just a pass fail kind of thing which is a bit frustrating when you spend so much time on them. But he's really good and he knows film history. There are a lot of writing assignments that you must do to pass but his tests are easy. He rewards you for coming daily.

Best class i've taken. He knows a lot about what he's teaching and tries to keep it fun with all the movie clips he shows. Tests are extremely easy. He gives you a study guide that has the questions from the test (all the multiple choice answers and everything) make sure you do the chapter summaries he assigns though.

What can I said that hasn't already been mentioned? He is possibly the most interesting professor I have ever come across. I absolutely loved his class, especially his lectures. He's extremely attractive in the "Really knows what he's talking about, and has a slight southern accent" kind of way!

Cossar is one of the best teachers I have ever seen! I wasn't a huge fan of film (though I didn't hate it) before the class, but after the first few weeks of class, I fell in love with film...thanks to Cossar. It's obvious that he loves what he teaches, and therefore he makes everything interesting. I recommend him to anyone for FILM 2700!

The man knows what he is doing. Also, he is smart enough to be aware that most students are not interested in this calss because they are taking this class just to fulfill their elective requirment and so the teacher makes this class a piece of warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream!

I took his class just to fulfill the requirements, but he really made the subject of film fun. just do the weekly response and breeze over the study guides to get an A. would recommend him to anyone.

He is a nice and very helpful professor. He makes it soo easy to do well. it'll be hard for anybody to get less than a B in his class. CAUTION!-- Don't slack on studying because he gives you the study guides. I thought because he was nice, I could study less and still get a good grade. I ended up with a B in a class that was soo easy to get an A.

this professor is really easy! attendance is not necassary, he doesn't count it. he gives you the test on the study guide, but theres an additional 3o questions that are from his lecture. if you go to class and listen to his lecture, you have more of a chance of getting a high grade in this class. he makes you write papers every week, not that bad.

Cossar is a student's professional professor. Taking his class first, got me through my other two evening courses. The delivery of his lectures are not only informatative, they are ENTERTAINING! I feel more intelligent with each class, now that's what an educator is SUPPOSED to do...he does it effortlessly.

I was fooled into thinking hard work was enough for this class by his ratings, out of 118 students 17 got A's (I counted) and most were low A's. 1/2 of test was comments made about specific clips other 1/2 EASY history facts. It was hard to remember the names of all the 20 clips we watched before a test. I liked him and the class but hard to get A

To get an A in this class requires a lot of work. Do all the summaries in the correct format!!! Pay attention during the lecture, especially for the test, which are pretty hard. He makes this class interesting for non-majors.

Class was entertaining, but the weekly chapter/article reviews were annoying. The content of the class is dry, but he tries his best to liven it up. He actually wants you to pass. His test reviews ARE the questions on the test (but only account for about 60% of the test). I came out of the class with an A-, and I had to work HARD for it.

Lectures might get boring sometimes, but he's a film genius. This class requires chapter summaries from readings and a couple of essay exams. If reading and writing isn't for you, stay away. Otherwise, it's a pretty good class. Uses the textbook only for part of the course (which can be returned) and uses a coursepack for the rest. Very nice guy!

Took several classes with this professor. He makes it very interesting and keeps your attention. Tests consist of essays and he gives it to you ahead of time to prepare. Notes are put online so that you can print them out instead of writing it all down which is very helpful. Encourages students to come to him for help.

Cossar is really helpful and supportive. I took the honors section of his History of Film class, so it was probably a bit harder than normal classes, but he loves any student that's appreciative of what he teaches. Tests are detailed, but he gives very friendly study guides beforehand. Chapter summaries every week, but super good for GPA and exams.

I didn't particularly enjoy his class. He was a nice guy. But the class required a lot when it came to tests. The tests were extremely detailed and over a few chapters at a time (which is a LOT of info). But maybe that's changed. The chapter summaries just need to be in correct format (he doesn't actually read all the way through them).

Just look up the title of the chapter on google and you'll find a pdf of the book). 4 exams. Study guides are the exams, word for word. There are a handful of questions that you'll only be able to answer if you attend class.

One page summary on a chapter from the book almost every week. Sounds like a lot of work but it's really easy especially if you don't wait until the night before. You barely even have to read the whole chapter. The lectures were never too long. Dr. Cossar is pretty funny and we got to watch films on Thursdays.

Fantastic professor. I didn't know what to expect, but I can say Dr. Cossar was one of the few professors I've ever taken where I was thoroughly engaged throughout his lectures. Very engaging, very helpful, and very intelligent. I took a lot away from this class and only wish I would've been able to take him in other courses!

Took him for media ethics. Course was one long research paper but there's no group work and he basically finds your sources for you. Summaries about the readings due every week but they were only 4 sentences long. He says he's not lenient but he's understanding and always willing to help. Easy A if you submit every assignment and come to class.

One of the most intelligent and engaging professors at GSU. Super helpful and willing to listen to you. Pay attention and participate and you will do well in the class.

The only assignments you will have are the chapter summaries. The exams are the study guides he provides you plus some stuff covered in lectures like movie screenings. Easy A as long as you do the summaries.

Really fun class. Got to watch parts of lots of different movies. One page chapter summary each week. 100 pts if you complete it. Doesn't check grammar. Provides study guides with exact test questions which is 75% of test grade. Other 25% from in-class lectures so you probably won't get an A if you skip class alot of classes. No extra credit.

Absolutely the best choice for completing those non-STEM core requirements. Lots of screenings and film analyses. You'll leave the class feeling very cultured when you throw around terms like "mise-en-scene" and discuss the aesthetics of French New Wave.

Cossar comes off tough at first but he's a pretty funny guy. The study guide IS the test, answers are on quizlet. The rest of your grade comes from tedious chapter summaries. The class isn't a hard A but I would recommend taking another course if you're just trying to satisfy an elective since its a pretty boring class, not just watching movies

My favorite class of the semester. Engaging lecturer with a good sense of humor. I'm not one for history, but he makes it clear and entertaining. Study guides are literally the tests so it's easy--just make sure to come to class because some questions are from lectures (but you'll want to go anyway). Loved analyzing movies. Chill professor. He's passionate about film and makes the class enjoyable. Some days you take notes (which he also posts online) and some days you will watch a film. Literally will give you a 100 on your papers just for completing them. Study guides are the tests + a few questions based on his lectures. Overall a fun and easy class.

Class is mostly boring as it was an elective and was a lecture-heavy summer class. It's an easy A bc he makes everything clear to accommodate the freshmen. Just be sure to do the summaries. Study guide is the exact test apart from a few attendance mandatory questions. If you want an A+, attend but you should still pass with an A if you don't.

Recommend taking this over the summer (i did). We had a summary due each class meeting which wasn't hard, just a page about the assigned chapter. He doesnt take attendance. Hes really unfiltered and real. His class is generally entertaining. Half of the stuff on tests comes from lecture the other from notes. I sleep on and off everyday and Im still doing great in his class. Just try your best to pay attention. Its not a hard class. textbooks are mandatory. Summaries due every other week.

Not only is this class easy, but it is super interesting. There is no reason for you to get below a B in this class. You just have to do weekly summaries of the chapters you focus on for the week (easy 100) and you have 3 tests the whole semester. The tests consist of study guide/lecture questions.

Dr. Cossar is super nice and super funny. He's a great professor, and his class is interesting. He moves kinda fast through notes and movies, but the breakout classes are helpful. Theres a reading and a one page single spaced summary every week, which is tedious, but other than that, it was a great class.

Cossar is very knowledgeable and clearly teaches you the essentials in film aesthetics. You don't have to show up to class, but hearing the extra things he may mention in his great lectures could help when it comes to writing essays. Weekly homework on a reading that is fairly simple. His class is an easy A. Show up, pay attention, do the homework (which isnt frequent) and youll get an A. He gives great study guides. You have to show up to class because there are things he goes over that are not in the class notes (something he ALSO gives you) that WILL be on the test.

Dr. Cossar was a really great professor. He knew the material he was teaching and he taught it well. There are page long chapter summaries that are due but they are very straight-forward and simple. Tests are a bit difficult but the study guide he gives for the test is almost spot-on. Just show up and try and you'll be good :)

Cossar is very passionate about film and does a great bomb at teaching it! I would recommend coming to class though, because missing one lecture can easily set you back for the test. You have papers due every week, but if you read you're set. Great and fun class!

Great professor, don't skip his class, some things he says can be used on his test and maybe extra credit as well. Good study guide for test. A paper each week. Test are 2 pages and one major paper. Literally one of the easiest classes. The lectures can be a little boring sometimes but overall its really great. Theres only 3 tests & he gives you the questions in advance. there are 9 summaries due over the semester but theyre insanely easy & basically a free 100. I highly recommend this for freshmen

Dr. C, is one of the best professors at GSU. This is my 2nd time taking him. The class is a little boring at times, because he talks the whole time but he gives a lot of valuable info. Readings every week, some are a lot & some aren't but the writing for them are simple. Two test which he gives you early to study & one research project. take him!

This is a very straight forward class. Getting a B or higher is almost guaranteed. Don't make it harder than it has to be.

This professor was very easy, I took the class completely online due to COVID-19, and all we had to do was summaries every week based on the textbook, and 3 exams, I got 100s on every summary, and higher than an 85 on every exam. He gives study guides which are exactly like the first portion of the exam, and the rest is based on the lectures!

Cossar is great: easy chapter summaries due periodically, gives study guides that are basically the exams, online exams, entertaining lectures. Enjoyed the class so much I'm taking him next semester for Film Aesthetics. If anyone says they didn't like his class, they're just not good with deadlines.

This course was very nice to take and all you need to do is show up to his classes and listen to the lecture he gives. There are weekly readings from the textbook and all you have to do is submit a one-page summary of what you read. The exams are fairly easy and he provides you with a study guide with 20 questions basing on what was talked in class

Dr. Cossar is funny and knows how to connect with his students. Attendance wasn't mandatory but I enjoyed attending class. The thing that was frustrating with me were the boring summaries we had to do for textbook reading each week. However these are EASY, do it and get a 100, and I understand why he assigns them. Cossars class was very interesting and engaging and fun. I was never bored, hes funny, and class is super easy. You have to do summaries of chapters and have 3 tests. Never class and use Quizlet youll get a B probably, show up and youll get an A. I say that cause some test questions are from lectures. Great and easy class I definitely recommend

When it comes to the content, just make sure you take notes during his lectures because that is where a good bunch of his exam questions are on. But overall would recommend 100%.

Cossar is a really chill teacher. His syllabus is really clear and he grades exactly how he says he will. His lectures are always funny and he's just a genuinely nice guy. As long as you turn in your summaries you'll be fine.

Cossar is a great teacher for this course. He understands that everyone is forced to take this class and he tries to make it as easy as possible. You will have to write an extremely long paper but I'm pretty sure every film theory class has to do that. This course is a little boring but Cossar makes it fun. Amazing Professor, I really enjoyed watching the films shown in the lectures.

I think this is probably one of my favorite professors at Georgia State. He's super engaging with the class and genuinely cares about his students. There is a lot of writing, so be prepared for that. Every assignment in this course is writing, and there's a 12-15 page essay due at the end of the semester. He's awesome, but be prepared to write.

All that was required for this class were about 9 summaries and 3 exams, no final. The majority of the exam questions come from the study guide and the rest were from the lectures. Pay attention to the clips and videos during the lectures. Although I found most classes to be very boring, take him if you're looking for an easy A!

Dr. C is a very entertaining teacher, which is important when you teach a class that is mostly students outside of that major. Textbook work can get dry if you do it all at once, but if you break it up its fine. He lets people out early and shows lots of film clips. Easy A.

I'm a psych major so this class was boring, but he sticks to the same schedule every week. He'll post an audio lecture and clips, and then you submit your less than a-page summary of that week's chapter.

I really enjoyed Dr. Cossar and his class. As a film student I found all of the assignments very relevant and educational. He has extensive knowledge not only on the subject of film theory but also the general going ons in the world. He wants to see his students succeed and is very helpful and willing to answer any questions.

Your grade will only consist of 9 summaries and 3 exams. The summaries each week are based on the textbook and really easy. The exams are also based on the textbook + his audio lectures. Overall pretty easy class and not that demanding.

Great class and lectures. There's a final paper at the end and he gives great feedback. Just show up and listen. He gives you notes, so just taking in the lecture is probably the best way to do well in the class.

Prof. Cossar's class was a fun and straightforward experience. The weekly textbook summaries are easy, and the 3 exams focus on the lectures and textbook. Using Unstuck study alongside the materials helps with study prep. Recommended for an engaging, manageable class.

I took Dr. Cossar for my Film Theory class (FLME 4750). He was very thorough in his lectures and showed remarkable enthusiasm for the material. It was a lot of weekly papers we had to write in the class, and a final research paper on a film/show scene(s) of our choice, but this is a CTW (Critical Thinking through Writing) class. Good professor.

If you want a easy A in FLME 2700 take during the summer. Only 3 exams, no final and 9 summary's of the required readings. Allowed summary's to be submitted late but exams were required to be completed withing a 12 hour time frame. Really good communication, sent out multiple notifications via iCollege about upcoming exams and reading assignments.
