Amazing class and an amazing professor. He was extremely understanding with everything going on and was always there incase you needed anything. I would 10/10 recommend him. The class was easy quizzes each week and then 3 bigger assignments through out the semester that were based off labs, took some time, but were easy if you just put in work.

One of my favorite Anthro Professors! Such a nice guy and provides the content in such an enthusiastic way making it fun to learn again. Not too many assignments and not an overwhelming amount of content, take a class with him if you can!

Professor Hawks' lectures are always interesting, not only because of the content, but the way he teaches it. Anthro105 was a class I didn't dread going to early in the morning--I even looked forward to it. There's a quiz a week and three relatively simple projects, and the class is low stress. I definitely reccomend the course!

Professor Hawks is probably the most knowledgeable person I have ever met. He is a master of his field and the information he provides for the class accurately reflects this. The lectures are interesting and the projects are actually kinda fun. The weekly quizzes are very simple if you do the reading and pay attention. Take one of his classes!

Prof. Hawks made learning fun and not overly complicated. This class is very low time commitment, but very interesting because Hawks shows a true passion for the topic and his research. He genuinely wants students to have a great time in his course which is easily lived up to. I also like that there are weekly quizzes in place of exams.

Super fun course and interesting labs that you really need to go to if you want to do well on the inquiry assignments. Assignment wise the course was okay, although sometimes the instructions for the inquiries are not quite clear, especially the new inquiry 2. Very knowledgeable guy and it was great getting to see how passionate he was on the topic

Prof. Hawks has done amazing this semester. The lectures are so fun and easy to follow. The inquiry assignments are a bit tough; make sure you attend lab sections and you will totally be fine. My TA Sneha is also super helpful. Choose her section if she is still one of the TA next Fall. Overall an awesome gen ed class for bio credits.

Take this class if you are looking for an easy bio course! Professor Hawks is so passionate about this subject that his excitement transfers to his students! Can't say that I will ever use the information again, but 105 was a great, easy course to fulfill a requirement. Reading can be heavy at times, but it is not all necessary to earn an A.

This class is pretty easy and Professor Hawks is a great guy who cares about students and has somewhat interesting lectures. I wasn't a huge fan of the content of the course, but Professor Hawks made it as interesting as possible. The only gripe I have is that the main grade is based on 3 inquiry assignments that kind of suck. No Final though!

Prof. Hawks was a great instructor for an intro to anthropology. He's basically world famous and really knows his stuff, and the content in lectures and labs is fascinating. I found the class itself pretty easy, but if archaeology and history aren't interesting to you, it may be harder. I didn't stress about this course at all, and it was fun!

Went into the class with low expectations, but Professor Hawks was amazing. We have weekly canvas quizzes and mandatory discussions, but the work was always manageable and didn't take long. I came out of this class with a lot more knowledge about bio than I expected. Would recommend for nat-sci / bio credits!

Attendance is taken for lab only while lectures can be viewed from videos that will be posted later in the week. Lectures are interesting! Dr. Hawks is an excellent professor that involves the audience with questions and does care about his students. The class is not hard, and you will pass easily as long as you do the readings assigned.

I'm not an anthro major, but found the class interesting! You can definitely tell when a prof like him is actually passionate about the content. He doesn't read off of slideshows, but rather, gives a lot of verbal info to supplement the images/data given. He's also really big about accessibility and records all his lectures!

Assignments are weekly quizzes based on lecture and reading content. Reasonable, open-note. No exams. Excellent Bio credit.
