Awesome professor and makes class interesting. He actually made us watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail for a week. Awesome, he told us it had hisorical importance, he was right on.

What all professors should be! He makes his classes fun and interesting. I took a ton of notes but I really understood everything. Can get by with using cliff notes for the book readings.

If only all profs were like this guy! The class was actually fun! The tests are pretty easy, you can get by with cliff's notes or sparknotes. I got an A very easily.

radical teacher, makes learning come natural, storys of the past history are awsome and fun to hear. I would recomend taking class with this teacher easy tests and quiz questions.

Ok, he is totally awesome!! I stayed totally interested, and he helped prepare us really well for the tests!! All I have to say is... I wish he was my uncle! Hes such a cute older man!! Your totally missing out if you don't take this class with him!!

i would take every class this guy teaches, no matter what subject, department, ANYTHING. i learned SO much from him, and it was (believe it or not) fun. i actually liked going to class!

This guy is AWESOME! Lecture is kinda boring, but he gives mostly all take home quizzes and tests and some are done in a group! Easy A!! Take Higdon if you can!!!

AWESOME TEACHER! Best professor I have this semester. Makes funny comments about boring subjects to help you pay attention. Gives take home tests, lets you work in groups for quizzes. You can tell this guy really wants you to do good. Take him for ANY class....very easy!

He's the most caring and helpful professor you could ever get. He really wants his students to succeed, and he makes class fun! He's ALWAYS willing to help you with ANYTHING! If you don't have him, you're missing out! I would have to say he's the best prof. at UNI! Hands down

He is an awesome prof! You get a lot of take home tests or open book/notes! He keeps you interested while you are in class, I'd definately recommend him to anyone that needs to take Humanities 21!!!

VERY EASY. I HATE history, but he definately made the class bearable. Many take-home tests, open book and group quizes in class, lets you know what's going to be on the tests. Class almost always gets out early. I have him TTH 11-12:15, class rarely goes past 11:45.

He is a great professor! He teaches in a story fashion which makes it easier to remember. plus his reviews for the tests are almost the exact test questions.

Probably the best teacher I have ever had. He relates to the students easily and puts his lesson plans and lectures in terms of the 21st century which helps us all out alot. I recomend getting him right away.

This guy is the best professor at UNI that I have ever had. His lectures are always interesting, and although his in-class tests arent *easy*, if you come to class, you'll actually enjoy studying for them and it wont be too bad.

He is one of the nicest people on campus. If you show interest in the topic then he will do everything to make sure you get a good grade. A lot of work is involved but with take-home tests, group in-class tests, and study sessions you can't go wrong!

I HATE Humanities, and Higdon made it easy! He knows that youre there because you HAVE to be, and not just for fun. He wants you to succeed in his class, and actually cares! TAKE HIS CLASS!!!

This professor is awesome! I hate humanities, but you can't go wrong with Higdon! He makes lectures interesting and fun. Take home tests/quizzes, in-class quizzes as groups, reading-but not too much. He is very willing to help you if you need anything!

I had this professor for Hum. I my first semester of college, and it was great. I am now taking his Hum. II class and it's even easier. He makes history fun and I would take him if you have the chance. He has take home tests and there isn't a whole lot of reading.

Easy A. Never go full time. Many of the quizes are open book. Tests are easy. Gives answers to tests in his study sessions. Highly recommend.

I love Higdon! He's so funny, nice, and good at what he does. He really wants his students to learn. He's easy too! He makes class worth coming to. Lectures are always interesting, and he's fun to listen to. Talking to him outside of class is always a riot as well. If you need help, go to him...he's more than willing to help. He's cute too!

The best professor I have had in college yet... He is so fun and I love listening to him...He makes class go by so fast and he makes history interesting for everyone...He is full of great stories and does his best to help you out as much as he can for tests...If you get a bad grade in his class it's because you didn't try at all! He ROCKS!

He is the best teacher I've ever had. He is really helpful and he does an awesome job at lecturing. I hate Humanities but I actually enjoyed this class more than any other class I've taken. Not taking him would be a mistake.

Everyone should take Higdon's class. I hated Humanities or anything about history before having him as a professor. His lectures keep you entertained and you can actually remember the stuff he talks about on the test. He's always willing to help out. Awesome guy!

Great class... he kept it simple and easy but still found ways to make you learn... you probably dont need the book if u dont skip class and dont waste time reading the novels because they are usually group quizes... lets class out early and gives take home tests... He is your best bet for this course

AWESOME teacher! He teaches the material in a way that you can understand and as long as you go to class the tests arent that hard. The quizes are pretty easy too. Hes the type of teacher who likes to get to know his students so its easy to talk to him (and thats a plus for me b/c I have a hard time talking to professors)

Gave take home tests and quizes, allowed disscussion during in class tests, everything explained very well, lecutres were interesting. many points given for attendance, go to class, pay attention and you will get an a. Great guy, super teacher, take Higdon!

Pretty much the coolest guy ever... Makes class fun and always lets the class out early. Almost all of his tests and quizzes are take home.

TWO WORDS: STUDY GROUP!! if you go to his study session he will tell you answers on the tests and quizzes, you just have to make time to go. He was so easy! We had one in class test and the rest were take home. Always lets class out 20 (or more) min. early. Definitely recommend

Easy, funny, virtually no homework, takehome tests/quizzes, class out 15-45 min early EVERY time. Easiest A I've ever received. If you need a humanities credit, take Hidgon. Also, he occasionally teaches at Hawkeye CC, and those credits transfer directly to UNI, and the class will be even easier at Hawkeye.

I loved Higdon! He is a really funny guy, and his lectures are easy to follow. Usually hate history, but he makes it fun! Another added bonus: get out early everyday! I highly suggest taking his class!

Great professor! History is not really my cup of tea however, he makes the material very interesting with his sense of humor. He is well aware that a lot of people are not interested in the material, and utilizes that by teaching in a very down to earth way. He is also always available to help students if there are questions.

He is a great teacher. He made the class fun and exciting to attend. I wasn't sure if I would like a lecture class but with the way that he taught us I was very satisfied with my learning experience. Overall it was an awesome class and I would take it again just for fun.

This class was so fun!!! The lectures could sometimes be a little boring but Professor Higdon usually spiced things up with some funny stories. he is such a nice man and I would recommend this class! There are two tests and two take home tests. Also a few quizes but nothing extremely difficult. He makes history exciting!

This guy is the hottest old guy you'll ever meet!!!! He shows alot of boring movies they dont really help on the test what you need to do is listen to his lectures and take notes, you'll pass the class easy. also don't slack on all the take home test they count. But over all an amazing HOTT old guy who's funny!

HIgdon is great, he understands you dont want to be in class so he shortens it. Tells you everything that will be on tests and half of his tests are take home. Easy class and he makes it interesting

Regardless of all the prior comments on this board, this class is difficult. Problem is, it's not his fault. About half way through semester, the class finds out we will not be getting anymore takehome tests because they are too easy. I guess his department made him change this. It sucks! I got a B but I worked my butt off. He is a nice guy tho

Higdon is a cool guy. Class got a little harder when the department stopped allowing him to give us take home tests. He's pretty understanding and will work with the class to get grades up. You usually get let out a little early and you watch a few movies. Tests are a little difficult, read the book.

Favorite prof of the semester! He tried to make the class as fun as possible. He had to take away a couple of take home tests cuz I guess they were too easy, but the last test was open note. He works as hard as he can to make sure everyone gets a good grade in his class. Highly recommend Higdon!!!

He is pretty awesome. Read 4 books with quizzes, but one was a take home quiz. A few tests, but gives you a study guide and basically tells you what is on the test (which aren't too difficult). If you read the book and study the guide, you'll be fine. He's a cool guy and you even watch a couple movies. Recommend!

Amazing professor! He tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests... I never once read my textbook and will get an A. He is very helpful. I recommend him!

Mr. Higdon made the material very interesting. Much of it I had heard in high school but it was much easier to understand the series of events. He likes to lecture and has a good sense of humor. I recommend him!

Higdon is amazing. I love him. His class is easy, engaging and entertaining (if you make it). Go to the in-class review sessions and you will know essentially all the questions on the exams. He's so understanding and helpful. You can make up tests later. He knows his stuff. All around nice, caring, great prof.

Hilarious and helpful. VERY friendly and kind. Although graded on attendance, lectures are interesting so you really want to go anyway and you can always miss class twice without penalty. No essays, just books.

If you can manage to get into his class do so. He is a fantastic professor who cares about his students and the subject he's teaching. He also has quite the sense of humor that makes class really interesting. It sucks that attendance is mandatory but he is so energetic you won't be bored for most of the class periods anyway. AWESOME GUY!

Take Humanities with Higdon!! Very easy class and you learn quite a bit at the same time. Always willing to work with students and has a sense of humor. 4 non comprehensive exams and a few quizzes over books. Always has a review session before each exam which is very helpful!

John Higdon is a great professor! He explains the reading so that us students can actually understand. He knows what he is teaching and does a great job making the class interesting!

He is very nice and understandable. He is one of the best teachers i have had on campus. Note: if you get to know him, like sit in the front and go talk to him in his office hours he will be your best friend and give you advanatages, because you are working and he can tell. recomend him :)

Have had him for both H1,H2,& H3...this guy makes learning easy. yeah he can ramble but alot of it is interesting, easy multiple choice tests right from lecture, and he gives out a study guide and if you go to the study session he will tell you EXACTLY what is on the test, u just have to study(if u don't like work I would suggest a 2yr college)
