Mr. Horton is a very fun teacher. He makes the class fun. Dont be afraid to speak up. He likes people that are funny and make the class fun. Assigns hw but doesnt grade/collect, has EX. Credit on tests, and will answer any questions you have on the HW

Very friendly and helpful. I never had a problem talking to him about the course. Very lenient with grading.

Even though this class is mediated Prof. Horton did have to explain a few things that are on the final and he managed to do this with clarity. He answers any questions that you have in a way that you can understand him and he also gives extra credit!:)

Great teacher, gives lots of short cuts to doing math problems, but if your used to doing problems the long way you may get confused. Always willing to help you during office hours. No extra credit. Straight forward test and quiz questions.

Mr. Horton explains everything very clearly. If you don't understand something, he will go over it with you 100 times if need be. I'm not really a math person and still passed his 1105 class with a B.

He is the best math teacher out there. I have had him since the MAT0012 days. He will show you tricks and tips on how to solve problems in half the time. Always there when you need help. He will be missed now that I am moving on to calc.

Mr horton is a skilled professor. he knows how to educate his students.he is patient and understanding.He gives excellent reveiw sheets before each test. The review sheets are silmilar to the actual test. Abtaining a "A" is not iMpossiable.I got an "A". believe me i had a terrible math history.

He was great. I failed one test 5 times and he just let me keep taking it and when I finally passed he erased all my other scores before that. That Horton, he's awsome!!

He is so sweet and it's hard not to fall in love with his personality. I am the WORST at math and he breaks things down for you so well that even a kid could understand it. He hates when no one participates in class, though. So speak up and ask/answer questions when the opportunity arises!

Mr. Horton was the BEST teacher I've ever had for math. If you did not understand the problem one way he'd show you a different way until you were able to grasp the concept. I recommend him to everyone that has to take math.

Mr. Horton is an exceptional teacher. Not many people can make me laugh at 8 a.m. He provides clear examples and analogies, which makes the material very easy to understand. He gave me an A, and I give him one, too.

Awesome teacher! He was very helpful and made college algebra very easy to understand. Not bad on the eyes either. Plus he's from the south and he's a really funny guy.

GREAT teacher. He's a lot of fun and very helpful. If you don't understand something he will go over it again and really try to help you. Lets you know what type of ?'s are going to be on the test so you can study. Also, goes over the exam study guide and tells you how the exam ?'s will be worded. Gives a list of suggested HW but its not required.

Overall a good teacher. In the Summer semester he flew through everything at a breakneck speed, and didn't explain the concepts very thoroughly. But he made up for it by letting us know what type of problems would be on the tests. I think he'd cover the material better during a Spring or Fall semester, and I would highly recommend him for them.

Excellent teacher, will do anything to help his students understand the concepts of math. I would not have made it without the extra help. He is very down to earth and will answer any questions at the beginning of class. Although most of the student’s didn’t take advantage of this, he would still help them after class.

Mr. Horton, by far, was the best math teacher I have ever had.He explains basic concepts in individualized ways and really wants to connect with his students. He knows how to make you laugh (no matter how early it is). His dedication is evident in all the ways that he seeks to give extra credit. I highly reccomend him.

Really easy, this is my second semester taking him. took him for MAT 1024 and MAT 1033. All multiple choice tests, gives extra credit on every test. Wants you to pass the class, will do anything to help you!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!!! IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND MATH TAKE HIM!!! I AM NOT GOOD AT IT AND I GOT AN A's AND B's IN BOTH CLASSES!!

Eh, I wasn't really thrilled with the class, I found myself dozing off. Tests are easy, multiple choice, granted you at least look at the material. But the final exam was a killer 30% of your total grade, I had an A in the class, and I'm fairly sure it dropped at least a letter grade or two after that. It's a LOT of material to have to remember.

John horton was a good teacher. Homeworks optional, and you really dont have to do anything in that class. He gives extra credit ofter. I didnt really study for the tests and slacked off. But the last test i studied for i got a 100% so its really not too bad. Id suggest John Horton, for calc.

This guy will teach you math. He is actually a teacher not just a professor. I would recommend him to anyone who need to take a college level math course.

I took the self paced coarse, but he is a good teacher when you need help. Math is really black and white, not like one teacher can have an easier class than another but I definately recomend him

I am taking him currently for College Algebra and I find his class very easy and he really helps those in the class that don't understand a concept. He is VERY helpful.

Best Calculus teacher in the Tampa Bay area! The problem with Calculus teachers is that many have unintelligible accents or are not well versed in teaching the subject. Mr. Horton is an enthusiastic and talented teacher. You just can't ask for more. I could have taken this class closer to home but the drive was worth it. Highly recommend.

I'm horrible with math and he was the GREATEST teacher for Calculus. He has a good sense of humor, very friendly, and will work with you to get the grade you want. Sometimes gives multiple choice tests which make it easier.. just overall one of the best teachers I've had!

I took his Applied Calc. class and he taught it very well. I am STUPID when it comes to math but he made calculus very easy to understand and took ample time to explain it if for some reason we weren't getting it. AWESOME teacher!

Extremely good math teacher! Very clear on what he wants us to do and how to do the problems. Only thing I didn't like was that he often catered to the lowest denominator in the class, which meant that we were several classes behind. All in all though, very good teacher who wants to teach you math!

Taking online MAT 1033, of course this is an easy class! An online math class is great, I think! Didn't want to take time to do this easy stuff in a classroom. Can work ahead of schedule if U want, I like that! 4 regular test are online, however, proctored midterm and final at Seminole Campus. 30 problems and easy if you know the material!

I took him for Int. Algebra last semester, and he was very good. But his Coll. Algebra teaching is not very good. He teaches to the lowest denominator and is always behind in classes. I think he teaches preparatory math best but he doesn't teach college math very well at all. I wouldn't take him for any other classes I have to take.

Took him for an online class the class structure rocked, I breezed through. He is very helpful, a MacMurphy if you will,thus he will not give you a nurse Ratched attitude.

He's a great teacher, and is hilarious. he doesn't check homework, but I recommend doing it anyway. He drops a test grade, sometimes even two.

Only thing that might get confusing sometimes is when he does 1 problem 15 different ways...other than that hes a good professor.

Very fair grading system. Horton is a very nice guy willing to help you with any math questions. He has one strict policy, be quiet while he is teaching! I recommend him if you want to pass Algebra and you are not good at math.

Horton really is a good teacher pay attention and you will learn. Just dont take the class with a friend of yours because that idiot kept freaking talking when i was trying to learn. smack that moron. Horton is an awsome teacher tho. I will probably take him again.

Mr. Horton is awesome. He is VERY clear about his grading style! Do not show work = FAIL. I failed this class 2 semesters ago with different teacher, this semester with Horton I have a high B. I was an Algebra zombie until Horton's class. He is AWESOME !!!

Mr. Horton is an amazing teacher. Very helpful - gives invaluable tips and tricks that make math fun and a lot easier. Opportunity to get a 110 on every test. He throws out the worst test at the end of the semester. He is so much fun! Great sense of humor. My favorite class and professor so far. Wonderful teacher!!!

I took this class online and it was pretty straight forward. I'm not a fan of Algebra and I did need tutoring, but I got an A. He does throw out your lowest test grade which is nice. Be aware that the final is cumulative.

Mr. Horton is one of the most helpful and friendly teachers at SPC. He makes sure you understand the material and really wants you to do well. He looks out for you and shows you many different way to approach the material. He has a great sense of humor and the only way to fail his class is to not try at all. Awesome teach! I'm taking him again!

He's a great person; very funny, nice, and extremely helpful. Intermediate Alg. with him was a breeze, but AP Calc was ridiculous, which brings up the question whether it's him or just the course in general. In this case, I think it's the course. He teaches it like a USF course, rather than a SPC one. I recommend him if you're any decent in Math.

Fantastic teacher, he doesn't take an attitude when someone asks a silly question, he just clearly answers it. He will assume the class understands unless someone asks a specific question, so be prepared for him to skip basic algebraic steps. He's got a 'math guy' personality, but you'll do fine whether or not you're into math.

his teaching style can be intimidating at first; but if you hang in there and attend his class, you learn his teaching style and will do well. Do homework because he does not always provide practice tests. Odd sense of humor; but at least he is not boring & tries to make calculus as interesting as possible. Took him for Mat 1033 had 5 test and final dropped lowest test score gives pretest that are just like test that are worth EC if done had 96% on 4 test then he was upset that some students weren't working and made final count as 30% of grade final written by math dept was very hard everyone failed ended up with a "C": I would totally reccomend him.

Pretty amazing teacher. Always quickly responds to your emails, helps you out, and when you freak out about grades he calms you down and still passes you anyway. If you show an interest in succeeding and passing, he will dismiss bad grades and make sure you pass. Amazing teacher, will take again someday.

Best Teacher EVER. All that he requires you to do is show somewhat of an interest. Goes beyond doing the examples in the book. Shows you how the problems relate to real life. This teacher actually cares. Tests scores are put on ANGEL VERY Quickly. Make sure you participate in class. Final is cumulative is the only negative thing

Professor Horton is a bit of a jokester, but the thing is his jokes aren't funny. I had him for Intermediate Algebra and I didn't open the textbook once. He gives you reviews for the tests which are nice. I did the reviews before test day and got A/B on all the tests. He can be rude and condescending, but the class is an easy A/B depending on Exam.

Best teacher I have ever had. He is the only person who could make me understand math. When the class gets bored he stops the lecture for a moment to tell a story or a joke just to get everyone interested again before pressing on.

I took AP calc in school and I think that is the only reason I did well in his class. Has a different teaching style but if you get used to it, it's not too bad. He's fairly kind and will help you if you ask. There's a lot of teaching yourself but he goes over hmwk questions if needed. However, good luck if you're not good at math to begin with!

Helpful. Funny! I remember one week he sent out an email with a list of assignments that were supposed to be due for next week. He sent out another email right away saying it was a mistake and that he was sorry for the scare, but Halloween was close wasn't it? Haha
