I'm surprised he doesn't have reviews because he truly is a great professor. In a way it's a bit confusing how a professor can be that nice, kind, and genuinely like what he does. He likes complementing everyone a lot even for the smallest accomplishments. He will not give up on you! He will help you pass and be a constant source of motivation!

Get to know Professor Hsiao first! Yes, he talks about himself a lot, but he really is a good professor. If you fail his class, it's because you didn't try AT ALL. I would definitely take his class again.

Professor Hsiao is a one-in-a-million professor. You can learn many things from his lectures, and he cares a lot about his class and the people in it. It may seem like he likes to brag about his accomplishments, but he is the real deal and he has worked hard for it. Professor HSIAO gives really good feedback and makes an effort to give clear criteria and is always looking for ways to help his students and make sure they succeed. Be ready to read though, one book is harder but still class is very enjoyable and easy as long as you do the work!!!

I took the six week summer course. It had a lot of stuff packed in, but P. HSIAO really cared about me and was an awesome teacher. His lectures were easy to understand and the only reason it was hard is because ENGLISH is hard for me. HE offered me an opportunity with internshjips, clubs, community organizations JUST AN ALL AROUND GREAT EXPERIENCE!

If we missed one or two classes, he gave us credit for it. He actually cared for our grades because we get grade updated weekly. Make sure you communicate with your classmates and form a good group for doing writer's workshop because he didn't really explain the rubric. But overall, everything went smoothly and I'd definitely take him again..GREAT!

best professor ever. There was one hw assignment a week, 4 papers + exams+ final, 4 mini papers. His grading was so easy, dropped the 2 lowest hw assignments, lowest exam score and the lowest paper. The papers were soooo easy. The final was online, he let us use our book/ notes. His lectures were so fun to go to! Would definitely take him again! :)

There was not that much work for this class and the coursework was pretty simple and easy. The professor explained things very well, I would highly recommend taking this class!

Honor Class section was really good. Each week consisted of discussion activity, discussion board and/or quiz. class is an easy A if you just manage to complete the work in a good time. He grades until the very end so if you want to know your grade, you just got to be patient and on top of the assignments. Overall, great professor.

Grade is based on quizzes, a midterm and final, personal reflections and building better argument assignments, and other small assignments. Make sure to stay on top of the assignments or you can be penalized for lateness. Overall, great class and definitely recommend !
