The class is an easy passing grade. Don't do any work, watch movies all the time. He is entertaining and funny. But if you really want to learn about film, do not take him for intro to film. Would like to take him for comp 2, but couldnt.

easy A if you need a humanities class. mostly watch movies, you have to make 2 presentations, which aren't too hard. and their are only 2 tests. you get an A for showing up.

Mr.Hughes is an awesome teacher!! There is never a dull moment in class and always has clever things to say and isnt afraid to say them! He only issued 2 papers in the whole semester and the assignments arent that hard. He is pretty leniant and is rather attractive for an older guy! :)

Prof. Hughes has such a great sense of humour, and made the subject really interesting. He really knows his stuff and made me enjoy reading poems and plays. He had the whole class in stiches on more than one occassion. Tests are mainly MC and other class assignments are totally do-able to. Take him if you want to do wel and totally enjoy yourself.

GOOD. different. I had him for Comp 1 Honors, where he used a philosphy book in place of a comp textbook. He's witty and amusing. Tells many anecdotes. For his Honors class, you must be able to grasp philosophy in order to excel. Content can overshadow format when it comes to grading. Flirts with girls; makes fun of guys. He is an experience.

This teacher is awesome, he's funny, the homework is easy, no poptests (unless u dont do the reading), 10 questions quizes (easy), only a few small papers to write. He also allows you to miss class more than the college standard (3 days) and basically he likes to keep the class entertained and awake.

Funny teacher! Dr. Hughes liked to tell jokes and act sarcastic towards people. His letures were actually interesting when talking about details to a story. If you aren't thick skinned and don't like sarcastic humor, Dr. Hughes is not for you. Otherwise, take him of an English class!

Dr. Hughes is one of the best teachers I have had. He is very sarcastic and funny. He uses a lot of personal stories in his lectures to make them interesting. He reads and explains each story as he goes. His tests, quizzes, papers and group projects were not hard and he grades fairly. Highly Recommended!

Greatest professor ever, will give you funny insight about his life and will practice his golf swing alot in class. Don't try and sound like a ditz or else he'll specifically target you. You'll have alot of time off though, you're only in class for assigning/turning in the essays, then its a two week break from class. Take him, you won't regret it!

Professor Hughes was AWESOME! He kept the class entertained and involed the whole time. Very generous in grading; he does stress MLA works cited! But just turn "something" in when it's due and show up to class and you'll be fine. I highly recommend him. He likes to keep the students involved and laughing.

Take him, all you do the entire semester is write essays about yourself, he gives you like 2 weeks to work on them ,and you won't have to go to class until the due date, he's very helpful, and extremely intelligent.

Take this class, overall its not that hard. its not mandatory to attend every class, just suggested. If you don't mind him making fun of you now and again, then you will like this class and find it quit entertaining :) just make sure to put all your essays in 14 point font double spaced! hes nearly blind!

There should be a movie about this guy. His humor could get him into trouble, but he's likeable. He helps you learn and is very knowledgable. He doesn't use a textbook but an inexpensive, makeshift workbook. He loves things that are well worded/written. He is interesting, fair, and relaxed. The work load was light and fairly easy, as were the midterm and final. We covered a lot of poems and short stories and he explains them very well. It'd be hard to not do well in his class.

VERY laid back and funny. He has a degree in philosophy so he incorporates that into the course material. If you are good with essays, take him, you'll get an A. Entire grade depends on essays. this may actually be the funniest person ive ever met. our entire film class loves him and he keeps us laughing the entire time. so laid back, and we just watch movies and talk about them. HIGHLY recommend

I took him online and his class was easy. His comments are usually negative but that's what you need to improve your writing. I missed a quiz and I just asked to reopen it for me for half credit and the next day he opened it for everyone for full credit. Just copy exactly from the examples he provides and youre fine.

My absolute favorite professor ever. He is super sarcastic but gives you all the answers to anything that is graded. He likes to make jokes about his students and I don't think i went a day without blushing. Along with having a good time in class I actually learned a lot about literature. LOVE HIM :)

Great teacher he made the class very enjoyable. He is funny and has a way of telling stories that keep you interested. It was an easy class. Though on your Essays note that he cares about the mechanics more than the creativity.That could be why some people had trouble with his grading the essays harshly. I personally had no trouble with it.

Really great guy. His assignments were easy and he seemed to grade easy. He knows his literature. On the downside, class got off topic a lot and that could be annoying. I recommend him and this class for a Humanities.

Easy teacher. You will need the book. Mr. Hughes is funny, and loves to make fun of some people in class. We often get off topic from the topic, but work is still done. For me, we only had three big assignments: Two essays and a group presentation on a sonnet. Every Wednesday we had a quiz that you will get a 100 on if you pay attention in class.

Quizzes once a week, 2 essays and 1 presentation, 1 midterm and 1 final exam at the end of the semester. All you do is read the stories he gives you and take it the 2nd class of the week. Super easy, you have to not show up to fail.

I had to take a supplementary English class with John to get full credit on a transfer class. Essentially I had to write 2 500 word papers. It was a lot of work, but he is a fair grader.

I've taken 2 of Professor Hughes's classes and I love them! Super funny guy, can be sarcastic to some students but if you stay on his good side you're fine. A couple of essay due but he gives you more than enough class time to finish them. He gives so much feedback on essays. No textbook required. Easy A if you put in some effort. First couple of assignments are automatic 100's you just have to turn it in.

Introduction to Poetry, this guy is hilarious. He gives you great feedback on your work. My only issue was most people don't take the class seriously, since it's an easy A. We did a lot of viewing everyone else's poetry, and that got tedious, but he's really fun.

I took him for ENC1101 and again for 1102. I wish I could have Dr. Hughes teach ALL of my classes!! He's hilarious and makes you want to go to class! There's a quiz every week and the tests were easy. Fun class! Definitely take him!

He's awesome and very insightful. The quizzes that he gives once a week can really get you sometimes if u don't pay attention the class before its easy to miss some questions and get a low grade on the quiz

I have taken him twice, and he is easily my favorite professor. He is a very laid back and funny guy, and as long as you show up and pay attention, you should get an easy A. If you need help, he is very approachable and seems to genuinely care about his students. I wish he could teach all my classes.

Do yourself a favor and take this guy! He is an all round great teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable and he really cares about his students. If you ask any question he will have the patience to explain it to you until you get it. Test and quizzes are easy. You just need to participate and you're good.

I had Professor Hughes twice. The first one being Intro to Film and the second Eng Comp 2. Amazing professor and lectures. Gives good feedback and class was interesting. Very clear about grading criteria. If you're going to take him for Eng Comp 2, I recommend thoroughly taking/reading your notes as there were short quizzes in class.

Absolutely loved him as a professor, wish I would of taken him for comp 2. TAKE HIM!! easy a and he gives really good feedback on your papers!

Dr. Hughes is very clear about his expectations, but he aims to achieve the goal in a chill manner. All class materials are provided by him. So just show up with an open mind. Class Participation helps a lot. Do not miss class cause his class room discussions are the test.

I took a film class with Hughes. He required virtually no work and didn't mind if you only showed up to three classes the entire semester. However, he is a tad vulgar and since he doesn't teach too often, he will talk about his view on politics or religion. Politic talk got nasty and rude but he respected religion for the most part.

This class is very black and white. There was no homework and he collected no papers. It is an easy A if thats what you need.

Professor Hughes is honestly one of the funniest professors I have come across. He is very laid back and barely gives any work. He is NOT a harsh grader at all. Go to class because it makes the quizzes and midterm/final very easy. I studied 10 minutes before and always got an A. He is a very cool dude, I wish I had taken him for ENC1101 too!

This man is the best and easiest teacher you will ever have. Do yourself a favor and TAKE HIS CLASS. NO homework, only 2 papers the whole semester, and NO final exam. The papers you do will never be homework and will always be done in the library computers. He is so helpful and will help you with ur writing. He actually cares! plus he is funny

This class is the best. It is a perfect class as there are only 2 essays that you work on everyday in class. No homework either. Highly Recommended.

Great professor would definitely take him again, his work isnt to hard and he gives chances for extra credit and to improve bad scores. I Definitely recommend taking him if you go to Valencia.

Really good professor, he works with you to help you pass the class if you arent doing well he will give extra credit assignments or walk you through steps to help you be more successful anytime you are feeling lost or confused.
