Very strict, he lacks respect for students.
Very poor teaching skills, acts a bit weird sometimes.
sucks avoid at all costs
Great Professor, shows everything, never afraid to answer a question
He's all right. Nothing great
He started out as an artist, man. How can you beat that.
Stinks!!!
On the NJIT scale he is not that bad.
good notes, bad attitude
one of the best teacher's at njit. clearly teaches every principle of the class
So I fail Diff Eq, then took it with him and got a B+...sooo easy
Great
Nice professor, but tough. Does not gives extra points, even when they are earned.
NICE!
he likes to go over examples instead of theory. definitely helpful on the commons.
Good teacher who tries to be clear and is but can have a mean streak. He does indeed have a bad attitude.
great teacher, but its true, he is a little weird and has a weird sense of humor, sometimes gets very angry
Sucks
Always there when you need extra help. Great professor. Take him at night, and you don't need to worry about commons, only his tests
good teacher, knows what hes teaching, can be odd sometimes and has a weird/dry sense of humor, if you do the homework and take notes you should be able to pass
Good teacher, always has plenty of examples. He does have a wierd sense of humor.

very weird sense of humor. wears the same visibly sweat-stained shirt every day. as far as teaching goes, he is very good. he knows that common exam problems are like those given for hw so he goes over many examples that are similar to them.
professor Hunter is great, he teaches theory for about 5 minutes then he does tons of examples!! Had him in Calc-III and now in Dif.Eq. He knows how to explain the material and makes things very easy to understand!!!! Take him!!!
Horrible teacher. Prof. Hunter doesn't know how to teach Diff Eq. He actually made one of the students teach for a whole class because he didn't know how to! If you ask him a question, he'll try his best to shrug it off and won't even give the rightanswer
im taking him for diffy q right now and, he's pretty good, i understand everything he teaches and did very well on the 1st common. gives plenty of examples, just take notes on the examplea and hw is a sinch, good prof
No fashion sense... wears the same outfit everyday that looks as if he slept in them. Lots of examples during class, though, which was a great help for the tests
Very good teacher. Clear in explaining concepts. Very helpful. Does a lot revision before the common exams. Also does tons of examples in class. Easy with HW assignments.
Very clear and bright
Took him for calc 2 and he was soo easy, he goes through examples on the board every class, he helps you more on what to expect to get on exams, he was great, an easy A but at the same time you leave with knowing what calculus 2 is all about. Take Him!!!!
This guy is seriously **** in and out of class. Will baby-step you thru hard concents (exactly once). So if you work the problem over take good note in class (hint hint) you'll definitely do well on commons. Does not like to answer questions.
Hunters the man when teaching math, gives plenty of examples, but sometimes he may move tooo fast. Most of the time he ll be 1 week ahead. its funny how he wears the same clothes for a week and have chalk marks on his pant from a week ago
Hunter is an ok teacher. Teaches straight forward, give examples that relate to the topic at hand. Teaches problems that are like the homework, not the ones you see at the start of the chapter, so you understand it better. Gives alot of review questions .
I thought he was great. Got an A in Diff EQ because of him.
One of the best teachers. Very efficient. Very helpful. Wierdly funny. But, a very nice person.
A competent professional who is disliked by his peers and mistreated by the whole math department. A professor whom could teach like this does not belongs to NJIT.

HUNTER IS THE MAN. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN FOR CALC. OR IF YOU WANNA PASS DIF.EQU. IF THIS GUY WAS IN CHARGE OF THE MATH DEPT. NOBODY WOULD HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MATH IN THIS SCHOOL. HINT: TAKE GOOD NOTES IN HIS CLASS. ITS GONNA HELP YOU A LOT. GOOD LUCK!
Best math teacher I've ever had, he made things easy to understand and interesting. His drawings and graphs were great.
BEST MATH PROF IN NJIT. very clear in teaching, rearanged my scedule to get him as a teacher. wish there were more profs like him.
There are only few grear prof. at this Fxxxx place and Hunter is definitely one of them. He is very clear and very helpful. But as you know the MATH DEP. makes the exams, but it dosn't hurt to go to his office to get help he will know you care.

hunter is the absolute best math professor at this school. If I could I would take him for every math I had to. He's very clear, and he is willing to help anyone whenever. The notes I get from his classes are the best. I look at them for an hour before any exam and I get an 'A.' He's second to none.
I hear he's a good calc 2 teacher but for precal 103 he is the WORST! He barley attempts to teach the class! The only thing he does is copy stuff RIGHT OUT OF THE BOOK BUT HE COPIES IT WRONG so its useless! The ENTIRE class IS FAILING cuz of him! Some of us really want to learn to but he prevents us

Hard class, good teacher, british, doesn't know the material well, but can teach it. Not very helpful at all. Tests are pretty hard.
A great Calc 2 teacher. Teaches the material well, very nice with grading (on what he has control over.) Don't take him early in the morning, his voice will put you right to sleep.

the best calc teacher ever, i have him for winter session, he makes his own test and "grades" them he is awsome, take him, u come out with good notes, and a great understanding of the material
Knows his stuff. Teaches very well and is very clear. However, if its a thing that u dont understand or like the way he teaches, he doesnt know any other way of explaining things. had no problems with him. loved the class and got an A due to his teaching ability.
hes one of the best at njit...if you give him a bad rating you shudnt be at this school, very clear and entertaining too. hes also very helpful. take him if u can
Very bad teacher when it comes to precalc. Rushes through material like everyone knows it. Teaches straight out of the incomprehensible txt. Doesn't answer questions. Avoid him AT ALL COSTS if you need to take a precalc course.
This Guy Is The Man. Teaches All Material Cleary, And Makes Funny Jokes, and Comments. If You Want To Get An Take Him.
He is the best teacher I have ever had for a Math class... his voice is very soothing so thats not the greatest but when it comes to calc he knows what the answer is before doing anything with the problem and can admit when he's wrong! He was recommended to me and I am so glad I took him.
The most clear professor ever at NJIT. Very easy. You must have problems if you dont get a B or higher with this guy.
Hunter's a great prof. Does tons of examples and usually goes at a good pace. Has a thing for being ahead of the syllabus, which helps come exam time. Lenient, laid back, and knowledgeable guy. I'd take him again if he'd stop teaching 8:30's
probably the worst precalc teacher ever, teaches straight from the book. no explanaitions just copies from teh book to the board directly and ecpects you to learn it. you might as well pay all that money to listen to someone read the book to you
Hardest Math class there is (and the Math Dept. is no help with the extremely dificult exams); this dude is pretty okay but wouldn't take him again, he kinda looks like Eminem; his examples aren't always clear so it's best to ask him questions one-on-one; reviews are pretty half-assed; best advice is to do hardcore studying of the material
Amazing teacher! Simplifies everything for you. Class was a breeze cos of him. Definitely take him!
Definitly Take hunter for diffe-q in the summer. Plus he makes up the department test for this class(so u know whats going to be on exams). Plus he loves to do examaples(lots of them), instead of theory. Excellant on out of class help. TAKE HUNTER
Good professor, gives a lot of examples(out of book) that keeps you practicing problems. He also gives a lot of help for students. Has study session for tests and final, he will give examples from old exams. Very knowledgeable, talks clearly, good guy, should take him.
this guy made everything clear. this is supposed to be one of the hardest math classes there is and he made it seem simple.
I wish I could take all my math classes with Professor Hunter... Stop taking my spots, you people :P Best teacher ever~
Oh man. This guy knows math and can actually teach it. I want all my math classes with him. This is the 2nd time taking the course. Got a D with Prof. Levy. With Prof. Hunter, I understood it, therefore I could apply it. I aced it with an well-worth A. Its so easy because you understand it.
plays favorites so get on his good side
Very good teacher, his teaching methods are good. He takes his time and goes through the topics.
Good teacher. Gives many examples, so you have knowledge of every conceivable problem that could be on the exams, and will take the time to explain a problem if you don't understand.
I took him in the summer, the class itself was not too bad. He is an okay teacher, who does alot of examples in class, and does not expect you to do HW.
greatttttttt guy and hilarious, passed with flying colors
great teacher cares about students and cares about them learning the material. Unlike most professors he doesnt shove the information down your throat he makes sure you understand it.
Not a great Professor!
Not good at all.
This professor is a great professor. He gives practice problems before quizzes. He speaks with an english accent and appears to be slightly physically handicapped. A person in this class would have to be extremely LAZY to fail. The book is not the best diffrential book around. One must brush up on their calculus to do well in this class or fail!
He is absolutely great. I will definitely recommend him to a friend.
First of all, I FAILED. He is the BEST math professor NJIT has. He gives students worlds of help, keeps you awake during night classes with his wit and cheer, and explains anything asked WITHIN REASON. Dumb questions will be met with good snaps for good laughs. By DifEq, you should be at a certain level, not asking clueless questions from 103.
he is just gr8 but sometimes very mean
he's a great guy. doesnt assign hw. his teaching method is kinda sucky. he teaches straight out of the book. not very good at explaining it in different ways. i heard he was really good for calc one
I'm pretty sure I'm failing. I don't think Hunter's teaching methods are for me. He's not a bad professor. He just expects you to know certain things and a lot of times will skip certain necessary steps. If you want samples without really understanding the process, take him. You'll either end up in 24 hr. tutoring or buying lots of dummy books.
alright, if u have add take him because he takes so long to write that if u space out for a min and then come back u dont miss much. He's clear and gives good examples. Makes it easy. Def take for Cal 3. easy to understand-> speaks english
By far one of the worst professors I have had. His teaching methods are not valid and he writes too slow. He expects people to know too much and does not teach well. He has weekly quizzes that have material on it from the day of the quiz. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
he's a good professor you can tell he wants you to pass, but he uses to many shortcuts when teaching
Great Professor. He does problems right out of the book and goes makes sure that everyone understands the material. If you are looking to do well, take him as a professor
He expects students to know certain things that they may not know if they're taking calc 1 for the first time, and his methods aren't for everyone. However, I found the way he explains certain things to be very helpful. He does give quizzes on material covered that day, but he lets you work with others, which helps to reinforce what you learned.
extremely good teacher, made every section easy to understand. He works at a slower pace than most, but covers everything in dept. Hes very laid back as well and is a nice guy. He made calc 2 easy in my opinion, i do not see how anyone could not like him.
Very helpfull.
very good professor;Pro. Hunter knows what he is teaching. You will learn a lot from him..
Perfect!!... easiest ever.
he's a great prof. very clear with his methods. not too fast, not too slow. great preparation before common exams. lets you out early. you can't go wrong with him. highly recommended
My failing grade was really caused by my pure laziness, this teacher deserved better from me, anyway, he a gret prof for people struggling in calculus, though a bit weird. His method is more focused on practice problems rather than the theory.
BEST MATH PROF AT NJIT BY FAR! Seriously, he made Diff Eq SIMPLE. EASY even. I know way more DE than healthy because of him. The book is terrible; follow his lecs closely & you'll only use it for hw. Super amazing office hrs. There's a "open group" quiz almost every class. He tries to counter the abysmal Math Dept. & all their games as best he can.
Overall one of the best math professors NJIT has. If you are looking to understand calc 2 and go over examples instead of just pure theory, take Hunter. Calc 2 is a very challenging course, but Hunter will do all he can to make sure each one of his students can reach their full potential.
Great professor that takes his time in teaching all lessons. We are never behind schedule and his lessons are paced slowly enough that even the most complicated of concepts are learned with ease.
Took him for Math112, best prof for Math at NJIT. Gives practice papers before the commons and final, which will be 80% similar to the one in commons or final. Teaches the student exactly what is required in the exams as a result students normally do well in his class . I would take him again, If I had a chance.
Makes a challenging course easier and understandable with his intuitive style of teaching and his desire to help students out. Prepares you for the infamous math common exams better than most math professors here. He was an absolute pleasure to have.
Overall a good professor. Teaches in a comparatively slow pace, which makes his lectures more elaborate and easy to understand. I would highly recommend if you are a slow gainer at math.
Great teacher. Take him at all costs.
Professor Hunter tries his best to help his students do well on every exam. He gives review sheets before every exam (including the final) that really help reinforce the material. Come to class, do the homework, do his reviews, and you'll do well in this class. He makes a tough class very do-able, given you put in the necessary effort.
He was nice and got the information across. The way he writes the notes on the chalk board are neat and organized, which I liked. He likes to give pop quizzes though, but it's based on the material you just learned so it's that bad.
HE'S THE BEST! Professor Hunter is a GREAT Calculus 2 professor. He explains it clearly and breaks down problems. He's kind and funny at times. He really knows his stuff. Gives really simple open notebook quizzes once a week and especially on days where he sees people leaving his class early. He gives us 2-4 class days of review for exams.
Pop quizzes? No. There's nothing "pop" about them - They're expected quizzes on the material you just learned to help you prepare for the exam. That being said, he is quite helpful and clear. He wants you to do well and he succeeds in communicating concepts as well as ensuring you learn the material (e.g with quizzes). Highly recommended.
Id recommend him. In the first weeks I had some trouble adjusting to his teaching style which intertwined with the concepts badly for me. After a bit you get used to his style and he's pretty clear with everything. Id also recommend going to his office - he might bump up a low quiz grade or two as he did for me. Put in more effort than I did though
Math112 is a hard course and John Hunter is probably the best teacher to take Calc 2 with. He is nice and slow. His lectures are easy to understand. He will make sure you are ready for the commons. What makes Calc 2 hard is the commons so make sure you study. He should give you practice exams if you ask for them. He is also funny and a great person
Without a doubt the greatest teacher I have ever had in my life. Not just professor. You learn so much about mathematics with Hunter. Perfect example of an inspiring professor.
He's a little slow somtimes but very knowledgeable and willing to help. He can be pretty funny sometimes. If you pay attention and show up to class you will do well.
Professor Hunter takes his time and allows you to understand the material. One of my favorite professors. He takes every question seriously and will explain each step to a student if they ask. He knows the subject extremely well, even a math connoisseur could learn from him.
