Mr. Janzen rocks! He's my hero -- very helpful and understanding, always willing to work with you, flexible, and a great teacher. :) And you actually learn stuff in his class -- it's always fun, but you still have to do work!

definitely a personable person; might be a little difficult if you don't like writing as he grades kinda hard, but he leaves helpful comments so students can improve; fun assignments (yes, even the papers)

I am not someone who has ever enjoyed English class. Mr. Janzen made it enjoyable to attend his class. His teaching technique was awesome. I highly recommend him to any student looking for a challenging but fun class!

I had a lot of fun in his class even though I've always hated writing papers. He grades kinda hard with his papers but he actually explains why the errors are there. He actually takes time out to help the students.

Strict w/ grading, helpful in class and office, actually cares, will not have class if unecessary, interactive with students, he made this boring class interesting, a good sense of humor with his classes, will actually learn a lot on ways to improve your writing for future papers. Good guy. His students from past come back for help on papers.

Great teacher! Cares for his students, keeps the class fun by bringing in outside material and adjusting assignments to each class. If you let him know your goal grade, he will help you get there. Highly recommended!!

Janzen is by far the best professor i've ever had. he truly cares about his students, makes class fun, and yet still challenges students to do well without making the class impossibly difficult. he's a wonderful person who devotes much of his personal time to his profession. I STRONGLY recommend him!!!

Mr. Janzen is an amazing professor. He goes above and beyond to help out his students. He's down to earth, sociable and always in a good mood. In addition to having a great personality, he proves to be an excellent educator. I loved his class so much that I got a permit to be in his 1102 class. It was well worth the trouble.

I really enjoyed his class and sense of humor.

Mr. J rules!! He's really helpful, funny, and makes Comp class fun to go to, even early in the morning. He really cares about his students, takes the time to work w/ you even for other classes, and has an assisstant who helps students too. I wish Mr. J taught more advanced classes, cuz he'd be great in Creative Writing! Very handsome too!

if you find a seat in this class, i beg you to sign up. this is one of the best teachers because, although he doesnt stamp an A on every printout, he lets you know how concerned he is by his actions. and he makes a point to know every student in class. and he drives a delsol, so he must have style. i managed to mess up in the end tho, C+. -mohammed

Janzen made Comp. 2 (Honors) so much fun. I would really recommend him if you want to learn while having fun.

Mr. J is the best English teacher that I have ever had. He makes that class go by quickly and he really cares about his students. His door is always open whenever you need help, or just a somehting to drink (LOL), but he is really a WONDERFUL teacher and if you can get in his class, do it. Not only is Mr. J a helpful person, so is his assistane.

Do the work and you will pass, and try a little you will get an A or B. Hes really funny, likes the simpsons, and lets you out of class early a lot! Never full 50 mins..he cancels class too..great. Fair, and helpful and very easy going.

Excellent and easy teacher. When he talked about politics he was kind of uninformed. I could not convince him that "Report From Iron Mountain" was a hoax.

Very personal, takes time with each student when help is needed. He's got a really unique perspective and keeps things entertaining, but can be chalenging at times. You work for your grades, but the class is interesting, so that makes it a lot easier. Great teacher overall. Make sure you get him as a teacher, it's worth it.

great teacher, doesnt hold class for the whole time, only 3 or 4 major assignments to do, he's very concerned with how well his students do... i highly recommend him!!!

I went to class the first day...the last day and got an A!!! Actually, he just accepted my 'A' from another teacher...still a really cool guy; i think...i guess i didn't go enough to find out...but the days I did go he was helpful...all 10 minutes each time...

Great teacher. Do the assignments and show up to class and you'll do good in the class. I would DEFINITELY recommend him. Take his 8 AM class...Much easier and more leeway. Trust me

By far the coolest instructor you'll ever have in college! Very involved with what he does and very passionate about it too. He makes going to class FUN and something you'll look forward to!

Really helpful, funny, likes to keep class moving and going. Been there long enough to run and does what he wants. Allows for one paper extension, and make sure to see him before you turn in every paper, because he will correct it in front of you, go home retype it and when you give it to him.. he'll already have graded all the mistakes.

Very cool teacher!! Allows for one paper extension for like a week w/out taking away pts!! Really passionate. Able and very willing to help outside of class. woot! A very cool teacher, made taking a summer class a blast. This was a very cool class where we talked about many, many interesting issues. This teacher is very up to speed with current events plus he's got a great sense of humor. Not your average english class! You have to take ENC 1102, so you might as well have fun and take it w/ prof. Janzen

This pr. is one of USF's best. If I wasnt tranferring out, I would have taken him for ENC 1102. My advice, as lowly as it might be, take him. I rated him a 3 in easiness because I can see how some might have a tough time, however, I did not. His course was well worth the time and money.

rarely gives busy work + helps you get better at writing by being specific about what you need to do to improve. is a little strict when grading (at least my papers). doesn't just hand out As.

I wasn't looking forward to taking English, but Janzen made the class fun and interesting. I didn't mind getting up in the morning to go to class and that is saying something. I am a graduating senior, and out of all the professor's I believe that he is one that really cares about his students and is the best professor I have had in college.

Janzen is a great professor. I took Honors Freshman English 2 with him in the fall of my freshman year and am continuously look for professors as engaging as he was. If you have the chance to take a course with him, do so. You'll love it!

THIS GUY IS AMAZING! he's always willing to help. takes a little while to answer e-mail, but attendace is mandatory so you can ask him stuff in class. good prof to take for your first semester in college. if his class is not full already TAKE HIM! usually lets class out a little early. homework is pretty light, gives plenty of time to write essays

This professor is the greatest English teacher in the Big East! He is extremely fun, helps you when needed, and is always available for help. The only problem, everybody wants him! Great teacher! Makes class fun, and almost always lets class out early. He is a strict grader though. Not an easy A, but definitely an easy B. As long as you turn all your work in, you'll do fine. Overall, he is a great teacher. Definitely knows his stuff! I'm taking him again for Comp II.

Mr. Janzen was a great English teacher. He really helped me develop as a writer and was a fair and extremely helpful teacher. He is one of the few teachers I have had in college who truly cared about your learning.

Mr. J is a great professor! His class is not easy but it's definitely not hard either! He is a tough grader and attendance is mandatory. You get 3 absences before he will dock your grades. He is extremely funny and he cancelled class sometimes (which is nice because it was MWF) 3 papers and 2 in class plus a few journals.

If you get the chance, take his class. He is a great professor, but, above all, he cares about his students and will help anyone who asks. He does not hand out grades but is EXTREMELY fair in his grading. It was an enjoyable class; I'm actually sad that I will not have him again. He made the class interesting and encouraged students to talk openly.

Awesome teacher! He is a fair- though not easy- teacher. He doesn't give you the crap that my roomate got from her ENC teacher. Pretty much you do what you have to do without busy work, unless it is given from the English department. He is extremely friendly and talks to his students as if they were equals. He cares about them.

Class is based only around three papers. If you are an amazing writer, then it is an easy A. For other who don't write as well, its an easy B class. He kills papers!!

Professor Janzen.... How I miss you. I don't remember whether or not I have ever rated Mr. Janzen; However I know if I have (which I probably have) I've gave him a perfect. All of these ratings are correct. He is a Great professor who you will learn a lot from. It: weather, time, distance. Professor Janzen is the BEST english professor. Hands down.

BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER TAKEN IN MY LIFE!!!!! I used to hate writing now its my major just because of Janzen. Its not an easy A he will make you work for it but he does everything he can to help you short of acctually writing the paper. i took him for 1101 and 1102 it is worth take a friday class even if its at 8am TRUST ME.

Mr. J is by far the best Composition teacher at USF!! He truly cares about his students well-being and wants them to become the best writers possible. The class load is light with only 3 papers and some in-class jouranls and essays. Also, if you go to him before the paper is due he will help you with corrections. I HIGHLY recommend Mr J's class! :)

Best professor ever! You have three papers and a few in class writing assignments. He grades extremely fair, you will get what you deserve.I got a B. Take his morning class but make sure you do some cocaine or have an energy drink or two.

I do not approve of the usage of drugs - especially the coacilla - stay away from that one. Oh and those energy drinks are a problem too - but I will let that one go - for now. Be well my students. :) And thanks for the nice remarks - I appreciate them.

Mr.Janzen is the best English teacher i have ever had. I'm an absolutely horrible writer and was terrified to comp 1, but after going to class and seeing what he was about I wasn't scared. He cares about his students and their success. He is hilarious and will let you convince him to push back due dates. Just go to class and he will be happy! :)

But I must say, don't think because he's cool means he isn't fair... if you suck at writing, he will let you know. If you don't... he will also let you know!
