Take this man if you want a fundamental understanding in simplest of terms. Gets the point of math across better then teachers in simpler subjects. If you go to his class you will pass. However he gives easy quizzes EVERY class

He is a great teacher... I highly recommend him...in the beginning of the semester he trys and acts real tough but thats just to show everyone whos in charge...He's a really nice guy and he is always available for outside help...If you take his class, you will come out actually liking math!!!

He is cool as****, and funny as hell. He would help you with anything in the subject. He's always in his office answering any questions you may have. He gives quizes that are already on the internet. And they are easy quizes too. He even helps you on test during class.

He has a strong ability to explain in simple words what he knows and what a student needs to know. He repeats everything important consintantly and makes you memeorize and understand all theorems without opening the book.After taking him you will feel taking another math class even when you don't need it, just to be in his class.

Jernigan is awesome! He really gets you involved in the class and he's always cracking jokes. From time to time, if you don't understand something, he does kind of treat you like an idiot, but it's probably because you're not thinking hard enough. I never liked math until I took this with him. I wish I had him again this time.

By far the most fun teacher I've had so far. Picks on students, but all in fun to help you learn. Very casual classroom, but did not keep him from being a good teacher. Do the hw, and you'll pass the tests. 3 exams, several quizzes that count as an exam, and the final counts twice. You must know how to complete the square to pass the class.

He is the best math professor ever!!! I would take him for every math if I could. Attendence is important of course, just don't be late!!!

makes pre-cal clear. allows cheat sheets for tests and has entire website full of info, practice exams ect. you know the entire test before you take, but unless your a math whiz i recommend you attend class as it's not basic math. it doesn't get better then jernigan...!

I took the class online. It was pretty easy. Just do this assignments and tests and you'll be fine. I'm not good at Calculus got an A.

It's rare to find a math teacher who can actually teach. Jernigan is blunt, but necessarily so. He asked whoever got below 50% on his first test to drop his class, which is fair because he went over everything prior. When he sees that you're trying he's more willing to stay after class an help you. I'm horrible at math and he made it bearable.

The BEST math teacher in CCP. He explains the material clear and if you don't understand it he explains it in a different way. Test and quizzes are really easy, its the same as the review that he gives out. I would take his class again.

By far the best teacher I've ever had at CCP. He is very eager to help. On my first test I did terrible, he didn't even grade it, he said learn it and then come take the test again. After that I took the class much more seriously, went to study sessions with classmates and everything. Ended up passing with an A.

John Jernigan might be sarcastic, but he's also a caring man. I learned a lot from this class, such as the amplitude and period. There are only a little more than 10 quizzes, 3 tests, and 1 Final. Please take this professor's class; otherwise, you won't learn anything from most of the other math professors, who don't care to teach you properly.

Easy going guy, a bit sarcastic but means well. He teaches you to think instead of teaching just method and technique. He has his own website which you use to get print out homework assignments and practice exams. He is probably the easiest grader in the math department. Gives you full points if you get the question semi-correct. Take him!

He is a great professor. I am horrible at math and he helped me whenever I needed it. No question is dumb in his eyes so the atmosphere is very comfortable even when math is overwhelming. Highly recommend.

Fair and very humourous! I had a fun time in Precalc 2 (covered exponential & logarithmic functions, as well as trigonometry) w this prof. He explains things very clearly in ways that help you understand it conceptually in way easier terms than what some of these very technical textbooks use. He doesn't care what text you use as long as you learn.

Best teacher in the math department. He's very funny and sarcastic. He will always catch your attention in class. He has his own webpage where you take practice tests and you can print the quizzes, do it at home and hand it in class. He helps you during the tests and let you use a formula cheat sheet. He is very easy to understand and helpful

Professor Jernigan is one of the best professors you'll ever take for math at Community College of Philadelphia. Professor Jernigan maybe somewhat stress sometimes, due to him teaching other math courses, and goes a little fast, but he is there to help you learn. You should take him, if you want to learn and earn an A from him!

The class itself may be hard, but he makes it so easy! His explanations are clear. Although, he makes fun of you when you ask a question, but its all fun. He teaches clear and teaches you some tricks that can help you out on any math exams. His always willing to help!

There are 3 exam and 1 final. Other than that, you will have some quiz to take by yourself from his private website. He is very funny, I enjoy his lecture. He gives good examples to us, and teaches us step by steps. If you pay attention at class, you will have no problems at all. Take him!!

Great teacher I had him for math 161 and passed with an A, only a few exams and everything else is just coming to class to write down some notes.

Jernigan's very sarcastic and has a condescending sense of humor but nonetheless, he's a good teacher. He's experienced and knows when you're struggling and will point that out to you. He makes everything seem easy. He teaches the "why and how" of math and this has helped me a lot.

Absolutely amazing professor. I'm not great at pre-calc, passed with an A! The professor explains things in a way that makes it seem so easy to understand. Not to mention he's hilarious! He'll pick on you in class but he does it to everyone and it'sonly to make sure you understand the material. Above all, underneath the sarcasm is a man who cares!

This professor is absolutely amazing! Very sarcastic, but very caring. If you show up, listen, do the homework, although it is not collected, and take the practice exams before the test, you should have no problem passing. Don't be afraid to say you don't understand something, he will hilariously make sure you understand.

Mr. Jernigan is by far the best teacher Ive ever had. He makes class enjoyable, but stays on topic. Hes a huge help during office hours, and is dedicated to making sure you understand the material. Just an overall delightful human being. He is really concerned about students. He is the kind of person people should aspire to be. If you're causing trouble in class he just throws you out. I've taken pre-calculus I, pre-calculus II, and calculus I with professor Jernigan. This is how good he is. He cares for his students and wants to see them pass. I really enjoyed math the past three semesters and looking forward to taking calculus II with him. It's very simple, go to class, ask questions when needed (he'll explain), and get an A.

One of the greatest teachers of all time, truly makes you ENJOY the lectures! Super funny, I'm sad I cant take him again. Seriously such an amazing experience. I've taken this teacher for 162, 171 and now 172 and he is just the best professor! I am so sad that I don't have to take any more math. Really helpful wants you to pass and is a joy to talk to and learn from.

His teaching pace is quick, but he will always make sure to do multiple examples and have fun at it! If you're ever lost, you can go to him after class and he'll take the time to teach you what you missed. He truly cares and wants you to pass; if you finish a quiz or exam and hand it to him, he will check it over for you and point out mistakes!

He's a great math professor! Make sure you do all the problems he gives you (including homework and example problems) because that's exactly what the test will be. Randomly calls on people which is kind of anxiety-inducing, but keeps everyone alert. Really accessible and wants to help students. His office hours are helpful!

Prof. Jernigan is one of my favorite professors in CCP. He is so helpful. I took an in-person class with him, his lectures are superb. Gives daily homework and there was 3 big tests. Such a nice personality who would help you with all your doubts.

I took prof. Jernigan for 162 and now 171. He's a great guy who makes sure the class is stress-free (rare for STEM) and that you really do pass with an A. online he assigns a lot of homework and weekly tests and although they're not super challenging, you learn the material at hand. If you ever get the chance to take Prof. Jernigan, PLEASE do.

Taking him for a summer class was one of the best decisions i ever made. So everything is on a program called webassign. You have 5 chances to get the right answer which was why i got 100 on every single hw and quiz. On the final you have two chances to get the right answer. He is also very helpful.

Had him for an asynchonous calculus course and he's very helpful professor who teaches in a way that is clear and concise. he has dry humor that is sometimes caught off guard with makes it funnier. Overall, a pleasant course, all assignments are on Webassign and gives 5 tries for each question, 2or 3 times for an exam. Great guy

This professor was the best! He has all the work done through webassign and each question lets you try 5 times. His lectures are optional since attendance isnt mandatory but I still recommend going! Hes super funny and teaches really well. Over all the class was easy and fun. He even says it himself that its hard to fail. Just make sure u do work

I would highly recommend this teacher. I had some issues understanding some of the material when I would read the book, but he would provide clear instructions of how to complete the problems in class.

This professor will be one of my favorite math professors. However he is very harsh with the way he speaks to students. If he knows you will most like fail the class he will tell you to drop as to not waste his or your time.

His lectures are very easy to follow and he is very passionate. I can see his on-paper homework assignments being a turn off for some, however he does such a good job teaching the material that I have never felt bad doing the homework. He is lenient when it comes to grading as well.

Professor Jernigan is the best professor I've ever had. You will thoroughly learn the material from taking the class with him. Choose him over online classes. He cares so much and is the best. CCP is lucky to have him.

John Jernigan is a great professor. He made the experience of learning trig engaging, and if something regarding the subject seems arbitrary and doesn't have a clear reason for being that way he will point it out. He was pretty generous regarding late work and exams, just talk to him about it in class. I would recommend trying to not fall behind.
