Easy class if you attend your classes. Essay questions on tests suck, but homework is easy and he explains the concepts very thoroughly. He relates the topics to real life, which makes the material much more interesting.

I loved Johanson as a professor. He is very knowlegeable, and teaches general psychology very well. He has a dry sense of humor though, which makes him not too personable.

Tests are pretty straight forward. Tests are 95% off of lecture notes, so if you attend class, you will be just fine.

His teaching style is very compatible with my style of learning; the tests are relatively easy if you go to class and you may rarely use the book. My only beef is that he says some things sometimes that are not very appropriate, offensive almost....

He's real and if you don't like it that's your problem. He knows we are adults and need to take responsiblity for ourselves, he's not a babysitter and if you don't care neither does he, so the choice is yours.

EXCELLENT PROF... He generally hates his General Psych classes because most of the students are write offs... 5 papers, 5 tests and entertaining stories that relate to class... Two huge thumbs up because this class is great.

I think that the class was easy. I didn't study much, but I knew the material on the test from paying attention in lecture. He's really fun to listen to and its definately worth taking it with him.

Best notes I've seen a teacher a give. Very down to earth and makes good anologies to outside life. Tests are difficult but easily passible if you study. Grades are returned very quickly. Really good teacher all around.

This class is so much fun. The material is very interesting. It's an easy class, his tests are based right off of the notes, so if you show up to class everyday and you memorize his notes for tests you will be fine. Hardly ever had to read the book. If you take psych, take it with him!

Does an awesome job at keeping us awake during lecture and making it interesting. Not only doe he cover the material COMPLETELY he cracks a joke here and there to make the class enjoyable. Overall, a great guy.

It's really too bad that he is a hard tester because it prevents students from taking his class. Prof. Johanson explains Psychology so it is understandable, which is not easy. I would recommend dealing with the B and taking his class. Let me leave you with a quote from him, "Just a minute Mr. Bear I'm almost there."

Read the book before tests, do that and you will do just fine. His lectures help, but everything you need to know is in the book. He is a good speaker, doesn't get boring, but some of the stuff that he talks about you never see on a test. If you are bad at tests, don't take him because all his points come from tests.

Dr J is outstanding. A VERY helpful teacher, probably the most understanding prof I have ever met. His tests are easy if you read and go to class, he tells you exactly what is on the test in the lectures.

I've had Johanson for Psych Stats and Organizational Psych, and he's also my advisor. He is by far the most helpful, understanding professor I've had at WSU. He really gets to know his students, and he's a great teacher as well. You have to show up to class to do well, and take notes on everything. You never use the book. Best professor!

AMAZING professor!! Definitely go to lectures they are pretty easy to listen to. Take lots of notes on even his storie they are ALL helpful and useful! You pretty much never use the text book but is handy if you have a question while studying.

Took him for both Stats and Personnel. He tries to make them interesting unfortunately nothing will make them interesting. Johnanson as a professor is one of the best I have had. Extremely real world practical, great example, nice, funny. Definitely can't say enough good, I took Personnel just because he taught it. Highly recommend!

Taking stats with him now and his humor and ability to teach the material are the reason I actually go to class! He's also quite cynical so be prepared for that - but it's all in good humor! I'm a senior and have taken him for several classes. If he is giving essay tests I would recommend thinking in terms of outlines and memorizing 5 items/points related to each larger item. Very candid and engaging in class. Sexy...well I'll leave that up to you. Take his class if you have the chance - really.

Overall a great professor! If you can't get an A in his class you are probably an idiot and should drop out of college. Go to class half the time, take notes, and read the chapters- A. As a senior who has taken him five times I would know..

All he did was write everything on the board - studying was no fun cause it was a giant pile of flash cards, but his tests weren't particularly hard (though I've heard others complain). My only complaint would be that all he grades you on are 5 tests. That ruined my chances for an A since I'm better at papers and assignments.

The class is really interesting, you learn a lot of cool stuff. Johanson is a good Professor, but the tests can be tricky. Read the book, but go to class and take good notes!! Most of the tests are straight from his lectures. The bummer is that your grade is based on 5 tests and up to 10 extra credit points, which makes it easy to not do well.

I have taken every class he has offered. He is funny, helpful, and explains things in a way that makes sense. I recommend you read your book, but not necessary. If you study, tests are fine. A few papers, but they are relevant to class and are based on personal events so they're easier to write. He is by far my favorite professor EVER taken.

I've had Johanson for several classes, and I lucked out when I decided to take him for Psych stats 231. He has a way of taking complex material and simplifying it. I was terrified of stats, but he was so helpful and patient with the class, that my anxiety disappeared as the semester went on. Take him if you need psych stats. He's awesome.

I took Dr. Johanson for psych stats and I was absolutely terrified of math. I took AP stats in high school and got a 2 so I was even more worried. Dr. Johanson makes things very easy to understand. He sets up assignments that will help you understand the material. Very laid back. I recommend him 100%!

One of my favorite professors in the psych department! He really knows his stuff and is good at explaining it to others. His tests are pretty easy and as long as you do the homework he will give you credit for it.

Very traditional chalkboard teaching style. This means you NEED to show up to lecture to get the content. He roughly teaches out of the book, but if you try skipping and just taking notes from the book, you're gonna be wasting a LOT of time taking a LOT of unnecessary notes. He condenses it to easier and more broad points that you will need.

Definitively recommend this professor for Human Factors Psychology. His lectures are really interesting and he's just a really cool guy. Papers in the class are actually kind of fun to write. Tests are challenging but you certainly can get an A if you try. No useless homework assignments either, just tests and papers. Favorite class this semester.

Stats is a difficult class, but he presents the information in a way that's easy to understand. This class isn't difficult if you show up to lectures and do the assigned homework because he will work through everything you need to know to be successful in this class.

Johanson's a great professor and does amazing lectures. Going to class is very key, everything he goes over in class will be on the tests. He's very good at explaining things and usually does a review before each test. Some homework assignments and 4 tests + the final exam which was open note and book. Take this professor if you have the chance!!

Dr. Johanson is my FAVORITE professor here at Winona state, and in the psych department. He is like your classic dad with cheesy jokes. He tries to make lectures fun, and he is more than willing to answer any questions during, before, and outside of class. As long as you skim over the textbook before exams, you will be set for each one! Take him!!!

Professor Johanson is a super cool guy. He has a ton of stories to relate to the material and it helps keep the class engaged in the topics that we cover. Overall, Human Factors is an interesting class. There are 4 papers (1/3 of grade) and 5 exams (2/3 of grade). He has essay tests, but he gives you many questions to pick from so it's not too bad.

Good class however make sure you attend as many lectures as possible. You will do well on the exams if you listen, read your textbook, and do all of the homework assignments.

Dr. Johanson is one of the BEST professors in the psych department. His lectures are so understandable and clear, plus he is so funny and makes a good connection with the students. I would 100% recommend taking stats with him, because he makes it easy and fun; you will not regret it! He even provides the textbook, so you don't have to pay for it.

Doctor Johanson is a smart professor with a sense of humor. His psychology measurements class was tough with 3 essays and 4 tests comprising of your total grade. The tests are all essay questions and there is no test review sheet to help with studying. There is also no clear grading criteria for the papers. I will say though that I learned a lot.

The topics he teaches weren't interesting to me, but I took 3 of his classes because I really enjoy him as a professor and his music recommendations. His grading criteria were always clear, and he gave good feedback on tests and papers. His essay test answers were discussed in class, so attendance helps. He also has tons of entertaining stories.

Johanson is a great professor for Statistics. He is good at explaining things, and welcomes any questions. Only complaint is that he does not post notes or anything on D2L, so if you miss a class, it's hard to make up what you missed, which can be stressful as all of the topics build on each other.

He does a great job making a boring lecture fun. He'll add in personal stories and try to get a good laugh out of everyone. He plays music before every class and is overall very chill. The reason I knocked off a point on the rating is that he's overly strict on grammar and his lectures sometimes are boring. He does try though to make them fun

Good Prof, goes on tangents but unlike others they are content-related and did help me remember some of the more homogenous content. DO NOT BUY A TEXTBOOK, USELESS AND THE LECTURE IS GOOD ENOUGH PSY 450 = 4 tests, 3 papers, no cumulative final, but APA HEAVY, he will correct your paper and make it an ink-blood bath. Overall 9/10 Would Recommend
