Joyce is super nice and incredibly helpful...He seems to remember what it's like to be a student - easy going but not a pushover...helps you think about the underlying meaning behind what you're reading....and he's wonderfully nice to look at too ;)

Great class and teacher. Had to read 3 novels, but were all very interesting / easy reads. Occasional paper but with plenty of time to do them, and help from him. Nice, laid back guy, and a class that i looked forward to

So,so nice. He gives interesting and humorous examples of speeches that have already been done. I was PETRIFIED to speak in public b4 this class. He makes the class warm and fun. You couldn't ask for a nicer teacher. He is very clear with directions on assignments, and they are very reasonable assignments.

Took a public speaking class with him in Fall 2006 and he was FANTASTIC. He gives *plenty* of time to prepare your speeches and is always available to answer questions. He's very intelligent, well-read, and he'll keep you laughing. I wish he would have taught more. Best of all, he's very good-looking. :-)

Cool, down to earth, and easygoing. He does require you to do the work but its nothing to strenuous. It's a very informative class.

I LOVED MY CLASS! he is so helpful, and nice. just make sure u show up early/on time for ur presentation. i would take his class again. I NEVER USED THE TEXTBOOK and got an A. There's research to be done in the class, but nothing extreme. I would recommend him to anyone who's interested in public speaking.

I love this teacher. He's one of my favorite teachers. Very funny and understanding. I got an F for my first test in his Humanities class but he gave me a chance to work on it and improve my grade. I do agree with others who said he was good-looking.

Had him in Fall 2006 and he was one of THE best teachers I've ever had. Funny, charming, and, yes, very easy on the eyes. He gave us plenty of time to do assignments and was more than fair in critiquing speeches. If you need Eng. 115, take his class. You will NOT be sorry!

Prof John is very nice, he hard on grading but he is helps you to improve your grade and he dresses very nice and he is hot too. I will recommend that if you want to take engl 101 take him but work very hard.

If you have high expectations of yourself in life and are planning on utilizing your college education, you will GREATLY appreciate the suggestions he provides you. You will especially appreciate it if like me, you have to speak to 5,000 people. It's college. You're doing great things, so don't be afraid of a little hard work.

Interpersonal Communications. I think every college student should be required to taking this class. It helps you understand relationships, and how you can even improve them. You do journals based on your relationships and relate them to the chapter using definitions to analyze the relationships through your own observation. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!

Compared to other public speaking professors he is great for the fact he lets you choose your topics instead of the other proffers telling you what you should write about,in the class or public speaking the key factor you need to know 1. know your audience (interaction) 2. be confident in yourself, 3. when speaking speak in high pitch voice.

Nice guy. Lets you pick your own topic and he grades your speech not your classmates, which some teachers do. He does find some negative in everyones speech but I guess nobody's perfect. He does give A's though. Easy class.

I was not interested in the humanities until I took his class. He is an amazing teacher I regret having taken public speaking before I met him. He will make any subject interesting and will make your education enjoyable. Do yourself and you education a favor and take him!

Mr. Joyce made the class fun and relaxing the entire semester. I really love the "pick your topic" approach for this class since you want to feel comfortable with what you are going to be speaking about. I highly recommend him, and his clothing style for other teachers.lol

He is really good. Its a pleasure to see him teach. If you are drowning just talk to him and go to his office hours. He will help you if you are having any trouble understanding the material. I highly recommend him. He is really funny, he can make you laugh for hours. I wish I could have him again! He makes the class really enjoyable.

I had professor Joyce back to back and his classes are always entertaining and interesting. He has a lot of high energy which makes the British Literature that the class read more interesting. Listening to all ur classmates give speeches everyday can be tough, but Prof Joyce is so funny and witty that class is entertaining and fun. He could be a comedian lol. He makes everyone feel confident. The speech assignments were easy, we pick our own topics, so basically talk about whatever interests u and u should do well. Great professor!!:)

Joyce is a great prof; he gives good feedback on your work and is always willing to help out. He's funny and pretty cool. And like everyone else said on here, he dresses very well. I felt like I learned some style tips from him! For almost every paper, he will leave feedback and you can do a revision of it which will be your final grade.

The guy is also an advisor at CCP, and therefore extra helpfula good listenercan gauge your abilities. He is very willing take time to get to know you and or help you out with coursework. He sticks to the syllabus and keeps the class informed about what's expected. I found the timeline that he wrote out for us to be especially helpful.

Professor joyce is by far the best teacher hands down at ccp. Would take a million more classes with him. He is an easy A and understands that public speaking is not everybodys thing and gives you the courage no matter how nervous you are. Gives us plenty of support along with our peers, and always says "fake it until you make it

Public speaking class with him was great, lays out everything you need to have in a speech, if you follow the rules easy A no exceptions.

This professor is very attentive to his students and he is very universal with all different type of people and their culture. Basically can get along with anybody. If you participate your chances of earning a better grade goes up even if your not that great at public speaking. Even though the class and him usually helps with the ease of speaking in public. He's also very relatable to everyone.

Public Speaking class sucks but Joyce made it interesting . He's very cool and always knows exactly what to say to lighten the mood (especially when someone speech bombsblows haha). I think what ppl should keep in mind is that this is an ENGLISH course so although its just a speech it has to be well written and organized beforehand. Awesome prof!

Simply Amazing! He cares about his students both personally and academically. Always open to help and open to all questions. Sweet, inspiring, and hilarious are just a few words to describe him. Keep up with the readings and give your input in class, don't be shy! He's open to everyone's comments and will make you feel comfortable to be yourself!

Professor John was the best professor I've had in a long time the best thing I liked about him is you can take your paper to him after class and he would read it and give you great feedback on what you needed so it was like getting your paper graded and he really gets you ready for English 102 A+++++ Professor ;)

Professor Joyce is an extremely enthusiastic and hilarious professor. Also, he provides great feedback and makes you feel very comfortable in his class. Excellent professor. I took him for a public speaking class. Many of the students in the class were afraid to speak at the beginning of the term, but he helped create an atmosphere that made it much easier. Very funny--kept students engaged. It was easy to have good attendance because the class itself was fun.

He is hilarious. The course was interesting. A few of classmates including me are having trouble of understanding his hand writing tho...

Engaging, personable, fun to be in class with. He will expect a lot of you but will work with you every step along the way to get you there. Be mindful of deadlines and if you are struggling make sure to get in touch with him because he will be happy to help as long as you're up front and show that you're putting in effort.

His class format allows for a safe classroom environment which allowed for us to talk about real issues. I took during a summer session. If you are considering taking Prof. take during a regular semester so you don't loose out on full experience.

Professor Joyce is seriously one of the best professors Ive ever had! His character and kind nature are something to be admired! The class was always interesting, with intriguing discussions. There are regular weekly assignments, but the assignments are more than manageable and relevant. Show up, engage, & do the work - easy A!

Professor Joyce is a joy to have. Considering college and how the words "hard work" are somewhat cousins in ones own definition of college. Professor Joyce introduces how you can relax with learning. He gives the material, it feels like you already know and his way of curriculum are like step by step guides to success in college. Hes organized.

Professor Joyce is an awesome Professor and I suggest all students on the fence to take his courses. I took his FYE course and at first though it would be a joke of a class, but ended up being very informative and and helpful. English 115 This was the first full session of online only courses, Professor Joyce was the perfect teacher to learn with during this time. His optional Zoom meetings were exceedingly helpful, and he took the time to answer any questions that we presented. In addition, any questions I sent to him via Canvas were usually answered the same day.

Professor assisted, walked us through the process, provided great examples, allowed you to be yourself, critiqued to make you better, guided, and is just an amazing and understanding professor. I'd take him ten times over. His teaching technique is awesome. If you have a fear of public speaking, take him and watch that fear dissolve.

I took public speaking with professor Joyce for spring 2020. It was originally an in class course but due do the pandemic all the courses continued online. And I must say, the transition went really well. His way of teaching public speaking creates a comfortable environment. If you ever want to or have to take public speaking, I would recommend him

I took Public Speaking With Professor Joyce in the Summer of 2020. I took this class online, and everything worked out really well. Professor Joyce is kind, insightful, and enthusiastic. I was terrified to take this Public Speaking class, but I ended up having such a great experience and I am so glad I decided to take this class!

I took this class over the summer of 2019 and professor Joyce was amazing. Professor Joyce made public speaking interesting and entertaining. I had Phobia when it comes to speaking publicly but after taking this class, I build more self confidence and was outspoken. I highly recommend professor Joyce for a stress free and informative semester.

I have had Prof Joyce for 3 course (FYE,English 101, Public speaking) and if I could would take every course with him! Before I started this course, I was very nervous because I did not like English, and this was a public speaking course which made my anxiety worse, but since I started this course, I can say that my self-confidence has improved. He made the course so easy and fun to learn. I highly recommend taking this professor because you will not regret it.

I had Professor Joyce for FYE 101! There's nothing bad about him, he gave everyone a fair chance to pass the class. He gave lots of extra credit, and he helped me in so many ways. As did his class, he taught me things I never knew, and I wished I took this class in high school! He gives a lot of readings during the week but it's not impossible!

John Joyce is not only an AMAZING professor but an all around good person. He is so caring and kind to all of his students. I really enjoyed his help with school and personal matters. As far as the class goes, it is relatively easy. The quizzes are open book and there is no final exam. Lots of extra credit offered and just some readings weekly.

I enjoyed Professor Joyce's class but it could be tiresome at times. He's very nitpicky so make sure to read and listen carefully. He talks a lot but is extremely accommodating and understanding. Asks obvious questions and can be boring. We had college reps come in pretty often though and our in-class discussions were relatable and interesting.
