Good teacher, hard cases and tests though, nice guy willing to help-overall pretty good class
No Comments
He's one of the best teachers I've had. The stuff he teaches is actually useful.

great teacher, very helpful, pretty cool guy too
Very cool guy. Nice thing about John is that you can talk to him on a personal level. His projects are a bit difficult, but they are rewarding when you finish them. I learned so much from this guy... Thank you John!!
Wasn't the easiet class, expects you to know as much as he does and if you don't...well tough luck your screwed.
Hard class but very rewarding because the tough cases were above and beyond the other classes everyone else took. The thing is, what I learned has gotten me little side jobs that pay very nice ;)
Very high expectations, particularly in 459. The projects he assigns are very demanding and time consuming but rewarding in the end. Very different, but effective teaching style. Seems to be approachable with questions and problems.
He is a pretty good guy, but he grades based on his personal feelings, which kinda sucks. Also it seems as though he goes over some of the subject matter just so he can show us that he can do it.
took this class as a freshman, which was dumb. i think if i took it now, i'd feel different, cuz i was intimidated before. but you learn useful things, but he goes kind of fast. you have group projects so that helps, tests can be a bit difficult.
nice guy, some things that he teaches are even a little new to him, so sometimes he doesn't teach the greatest, I recommend going to him for help on the projects, he really helps you out if you go to him personally
Big projects, hard test, and fast pace. Very helpful when you ask and it will help your grade if you ask for help. Not a bad class.
his grading sucked, 200 level class with to much work
Don't recommend, he's terrible
bad, the projects are too advanced for such a low level class. He grades very strict and unfair. I Regret taking this class even though I still got a decent grade. Did not learn very much.
he doesn't give you much time to work on your projects and doesn't explain things very well. Grades really hard.
Seriously all of these people are full of it. Kaliski is a great teacher. This is the most ive learned in a class since ive been in college. I got an A in it and i am a total slacker. Our class was so good he didnt even give us a final. Take 200 with Kaliski you will learn a lot.
John is a hell of a teacher. Granted the class topics are hard because its a 200 level class. He gives you ample time to finish problems and grades very, very fairly. I am a C student and i easily got an A.
I got tricked into taking this professor because I heard that he does not use a textbook. However, you are forced to buy a online textbook for $60. He is confused as to why students taking this class do not know how to make a website already...like COMS 101 would have taught you that!
This class sucks! He is a horrible teacher he expects you to know how to build a website the day you walk into the class he doesn't teach any thing in class he just talks about his business all hour the class is a joke for real......But if you are looking for quality solitaire playing time good class to take!
John seems like a good teacher. His class does get a little bit boring at times, but he tries hard. Does give harder assignments and I was easily confused. We had to design a whole website using tutorials on his website which was very difficult. Also have to buy an online text which is a waste!
Very Difficult.

This guy is a complete joke. First of all, he makes you buy his friend's online text book through paypal - so everybody's $60.00 is being dumped into this guys checking. His assignments are way too advanced for a 200 level course, they are too indepth for people who don't plan to major in this. He is just creepy - stay away if you can!
Big John is not a real solid teacher. There are three main assignments and they are long and challenging. This class showed me that I don't like online classes even though it wasn't. The lectures are almost completely worthless to go to. Everything is taught through online tutorials where Big John sounds like he's on public radio.
Don't take MGMT 200 with John
unless you love computer science stuff, do NOT take for mgmt 200! He expects WAY more than any other 200 professor.
Do not take John's MGMT 200 class. He just loves to listen to himself talk and loves to brag about his businesses and ventures. Admits that average tests score is 60% but does not think he needs to change anything he does.
The class was not very hard at all. You're required to do work to finish the projects that are assigned, but most people usually got close to 100 on each of them. These people that struggled in this class must simply be stupid because i got an A easily. You do have to work when you go to college people.
Hes not that bad. He does think very highly of himself tho and can be very arrogant about the things he knows. There is an online book. Test was okay but no final. Hard projects but you get to work in groups for some. Grades fair I received an A and I knew nothing to begin with. Very helpful out of class but don't wait till the last second to ask.
If you don't have an interest in e-business try your best to NOT take this class. It is very difficult for those that don't understand building websites/HTML or don't have an interest. He was helpful when asked. By the end of the class you will know way more about his personal businesses than you ever wanted to. They are his main teaching tools.
John is an extremely knowledgeable person. If your into learning about MIS this is the course for you. As long as you do the assignments you are almost guaranteed an A.
Thinks extremely highly of himself and pretty much talks about his money and businesses the whole time. Goes the ENTIRE class time every time. Can't really avoid him if you are a business major, unfortunately.
class isn't too bad, you have to buy an online textbook for $60. The only test you have is not half as hard as he says it will be, use the study guide adn study from it- over 1/2 of questions on test come from the study guide. Projects are pretty intense, but he helps you out and teaches you things in class to help you with them. GET A GOOD GROUP!
It was the most tedious class that I have ever taken. There were several group assignments. He is exteremly arrogant, I think I learned more about him than I learned about information systems!
Mr. Kaliski is does tend to boast about himself a lot but who really cares? He's a very smart guy and his class is very easy! Simply show up since he tends to give out little 1 question no brainer quizzes for 5 pts which on the days when only half the class shows up, & do exactly what he wants you to do in the projects & you'll get an A! No Tests!
Very Funny Teacher. Projects are time consuming. You will learn a lot of useful knowledge about HTML,Excel, and Access. Make sure you have a good group. Your whole grade depends on everyone working putting in good effort.
You will use almost everything at your job or if self employed. Tons of work but you learn an incredible amount. All but one project is done in groups that have to meet, can't be done via email, etc. Would take him for any course.
Cool guy. Learn a lot in this class. Learn stuff you can use in the real world. No tests no final, just 3 group projects so pick your group wisely. It's time consuming but it's not hard. Make sure you have some knowledge in Access, and Excel.
He is definitely interested in himself and what he does. Make sure you go to class because days that not many people are there he creates extra credit quizzes w/1 question and gives you the answer. For the groups, make sure you are with people who seem to know what they're doing or else you'll get stuck w/the project by yourself. No tests.
Oh what to say about John-I run multiple businesses-Kaliski? Ah, well, he's helpful, ah, teaches you a lot of relevant, ah, information, ah you will need this in your real life job, ah, and he is, ah, a cool guy. One thing I have against the guy is he used his entire class to cost his competition hundreds of dollars by clicking on his google link.
How do I put it.... his group project grading is a ton of bull, even if your group doesn't do any of the work they still manage to get the same grading as you. His class is easy if you do your work. Lectures are boring but I wouldn't suggest skipping them. Its not a real textbook you use, its an online site.
the only thing good about this class is that there are no tests. but do not procrastinate on the projects! you get a reasonable amount of time to complete them but if you wait, you will get screwed. go to class...gives out extra credit when it looks like a lot of people skipped.
Kaliski likes to hear himself talk. This really should be an online class. Do the projects as soon as they're assigned, because you'll most likely need help from him, which if you bring your project into him, he practically does it all for you. He changed his projects this semester, and there is now a test at the end of the semester.
The organization of the course was shabby, the assignment expectations are ambiguous. Assignments jump back and forth through Microsoft Access and Excel with a web design project in between. John?s arrogance is overwhelming as a professor. If you are looking to actually get something out a MGMT 200 I recommend taking it with Prof. Kawatra instead.
If you like to sit and listen to him tell you how he is NOT a teacher, he is an entrepreneur and how awesome he is at it. You'll love this guy. Assignments take forever so find a good group and when you get the grade always challenge because he will give you more points.
Kaliski has the biggest ego ever and is his own #1 fan. He is not clear at all and rather unhelpful. You have to buy software from him and that money goes in his pocket. The materials you buy are a total unorganized mess and he takes forever when you ask him a question. He shouldn't be teaching this. He is too busy and arrogant. DON'T TAKE THIS.
JOhn is a super arrogant professor. He makes you buy software from him and he makes all the money. This class has HUGE challenging assignments where he helps you very little if at all. This class has no tests but is very time consuming and difficult. Take this with a different professor if you can.
Prof. Kaliski is a very good prof. He pushes you to the limit and the assignments are very time consuming. The material you buy online is very useful. I will recommend this class for anyone that actually wants to learn. College shoud'nt be easy it should be challenging. If your lazy then don't come to school sit home.
As long as you follow directions, go to class, and get help when you needed, this class can be easy. Kaliski is helpful when you have questions. The standards are high but as long as you get a good group and pay attention, you can get an A.
Might be one of the best teachers I have had at mankato thus far. The class isn't easy, but if you put the effort in you can really gain something from his class. He is a no nonsense guy.
Have fun starting the First day. John will talk about how finacially set he is and how many businesses he owns and how he doesnt care what you think. He makes you buy some online software that he makes money off of. Do good from the first assignment and be prepared for the test at the end. If you fail the test you fail the class even if u have an A
Almost a month into the class, and it is easily the hardest class I've taken. Kaliski is arrogant, unhelpful, and rude. Started off semester saying "I don't see myself as a professor, I am an entrepreneur. I don't even like being a professor." Awful, can't avoid if business major. No textbook or tests, just a huge project. Makes me rethink my major
Overall this class is not insanely hard, but extremely time consuming. One project alone will take you approximately 80 hours to finish. There are no tests or textbooks, instead, every aspect is done on your computer. Overall I would not say I have learned a single thing from the class, but sadly it's required for all business majors.
The whole assignment of this class was creating a website inside and out. (No book or tests) It was very time consuming and parts of the assignments were sometimes hard to understand. If you have good hard-working group members you will be fine. Get in a good group!! John is a nice guy and was always willing to help if you had a problem.
This class is a complete waste of time! I recommend not taking it with kaliski! get a good group
This class will teach you so much on how to start and run a website. It is a time consuming class, but you will learn a ton!
Very good teacher. He is helpful when you ask questions. The class takes up a lot of time but if you put in the work you will get a good grade.
Grades are giving based off of group work and individual time consuming projects where you watch someone online do something with the his PC, then u copy the exact thing. Busy busy busy. Learned nothing and was excited to learn before the class. He likes to talk about himself and his brewing.
Without a doubt he is the best professor I have had so far. Grading is clear and I thought class was very interesting even though it was not always relevant to the projects. Should get an A in the class with the proper amount of work, choose your group wisely.
John is the best teacher I've had! Make sure to get into a good group and make sure to go to office hours for help, he's the nicest guy! Making a website was stressful and time consuming, but I would rather do that than take tests and read a text book. I recommend John!
What is expected is clear and I learned alot about web design ect. Class gets boring but fairly easy class, lots of Extra Credit.
Class is basically one large group project with 2 small individual assignments. He comes off like a jerk but super willing to help with class work. He's A if you come to class ready to work on project parts he does in class
John is an excellent business professional, but an excuse of a professor. His arrogance is only surpassed by his apathy for teaching. His idea of "teaching" is having students watch 5-7 year old tutorials (of amateur quality) on what's barely a website. There were typos in the website, for goodness sake. I am appalled he is paid by the state.
Awesome Teacher, very hands on class. Very laid back. You don't have to show up for class if you can figure out what to do on your own. Going to class is always helpful. You design a website and the database for it. You use a template. He explains how to do things and if you get stuck, is very helpful and the best at explaining things. Recommended.
This class will freak you out and make you want to cry. You really have to work hard (especially with a group). Hardest class I have taken so far at MSU. John is a nice guy but he goes really fast over what is required but is very helpful during office hours if you are able to stand in line for 2 hours to ever get there. The TA wasn't much help.
For many business majors, MGMT 200 is a requirement. If you are actually hoping to take a management course, this is not the course for you. This class does not relate to management whatsoever and I refer to it as IT 2.0. Get ready for tons of busy workgroup projects, although the assignments seem interesting they have nothing to do with managemnt
Basically work in a team for the whole semester. You have to pay for you website (domain, etc) out of pocket. This class is called Management Information Systems. The focus is NOT management itself but learning how to manage tech for a start up business on the web. If you prefer homework, tests, etc then take this class with a different professor.
This is a group project course to build a website. John's instructions online aren't clear and his tutorials are from YEARS ago which makes it tough! But if you go to class and go to his office for help, you'll do just fine! Looking back, I benefited from this class.
This class is by far the worst class I've ever taken. It's very hard and he doesn't explain things at all unless you go to his office hours for 2 hours everyday and sometimes not even get into it because of the long line outside of it. Very rude in class. Huge projects so pick your group wisely. Assignments are very time consuming.
Time consuming. You learn how to make a website, nothing about management.
Class is easy if you have good computertechnological skills but if you lack that it can be hard. John is down to earth and relates to his students and uses a lot of college humor, however, at the beginning of the semester he tries to scare everybody for the class. The project that the class is centered around is very time consuming but beneficial.
This class is hands down the most time consuming class you will take in your life. Video instructions for every single assignment, and each assignment will take you more hours per week than a part-time job. The material you learn is awesome, but expect to spend at least 10 hours outside of class in homework every week.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH KALISKI. He's the worst. Doesn't explain the work, can't respond to any questions you have, and talks about himself and his business the whole lecture time. You're stranded on assignments and it's way to much work for the actual class. Words cannot describe how much a hate this class and him. You have to buy a lot stuff.
There are two things you do in this class, watch tutorials and make an online business with a group of 3-4 people. This is one of the most time consuming classes I have taken. If you do the work, it's not hard to get an A. Just time consuming. Attendance is not required and he rarely says anything useful in class.
Worst teacher on campus, doesn't help and creating your own website has many hoops to jump through. Makes you pay money just to be in his class. Does not care about students or their well being.
You must go to class to pass the class. He goes over how to do the assignments, and saves you from being lost. very approachable. Very willing to help during office hours. Don't be afraid to ask him, he will basically do your homework for you in his office. He loves to help students. I was scared going into it because of reviews, but I have 101.7%.
This class is all about your company and website you make with our group--so pick people you know will work. The assignments aren't that hard, there's just a lot of them. Class is kind of pointless and if you have questions, you can just go to his office hours where he actually will help and explain things. Very possible to get a good grade.
John really cares about his students and puts in a LOT of time with helping them in and out of class. I would really recommend taking him as a professor because he really cares about his students.
Awesome teacher! Learned SO much in this class. It was very challenging but if you put in the work you will get a good grade. He is incredibly helpful during office hours but since it's such a difficult class you will wait for potentially hours before you will be able to talk to him. Lectures hardly helped and he could've used that time to explain.
He's a great teacher and very approachable. You don't have to go to lecture, but he will often explain things that will make your homework easier. Pick a group you'll work well with because there's a lot of group work.
MGMT 459 is basically an extension to his 200 class. Super approachable teacher. Very understanding and is helpful if you ask for help. He likes to talk a lot. Expect a lot of group projects and to set aside a good chunk of time for this class. A lot of the material is cloud based and can get confusing but it's very easy to do good in the class.
John is a good professor and will take the time out of his day outside of class to help you out. There are a ton of group projects, so if you get yourself into a good group, this class should be a breeze. No tests or quizzes. Just try to not procrastinate on assignments and let them pile up, that is the only way this class will be to much to handle
I've had classes in the past with John and he's a great guy. He's very easy to approach and is very easy to talk to if you have problems. This class is computer technology heavy so if you're not into that, you might have problems. You are graded in both group assignments and individual work. No tests, but you have larger assignments to do.
John is the only professor that I have ever had to drop. He makes you buy into his version of D2L "aspen" which is NOT better despite what he says. I dropped two weeks in after seeing his Aspen website which looks like it was made in 1998. He seemed like a nice guy, but I decided to drop because I did not want to jump through his hoops.
This class relied heavily on the group project that you must create as well as investing in it yourself. Also presenting it to a couple of professionals from his choosing and adding them on Facebook. Hard to catch him during his office hours. Seems like he's too busy to help his students.
This class is A LOT of work. Lectures are LONG and pointless. A lot of homework, but it's mainly busywork.
Not a bad class at all. Homework is all group projects but if you don't receive the grade you want he offers extra credit all semester... an unlimited amount of extra credit! Not a awful class. Pay attention and the assignments are easy.
Pretty decent professor. Not too difficult. Be ready for homework and group projects weekly. Sometimes you get a week off from individual assignments. It isn't the easiest assignments, but he is super helpful in office hours and practically fixes everything for you. Also, you have to make a website which is not easy, but again, will help you.
A Super nice man but lots of work
John was by far my favorite teacher at MNSU!! He truly teaches you something useful in life, no tests, no quizzes, no long and boring powerpoints or anything. Lots of homework and you build a website. You become certified in many different things that can help in an interview for a job or internship, it helped me! I HIGHLY recommend!
John is hands down the best educational instructor I have had in my entire life. The class is a lot of work, but not hard AT ALL if you pay attention in class. If your good with computers, you should have no problem. If not, he is very approachable and nice. I am in his 8am and I never feel like sleeping. He teaches you real valuable useful stuff.
John was by far one of the best professors I had at MNSU. There are no tests, quizzes, readings, or PowerPoints. He teaches you stuff that will help you in the future. You will get many certificates to put on your linked in profile and a variety of other skill. It is a lot of homework sometimes, but I would highly recommend this class.
John was the best teacher I ever had in my entire academic journey. There are no tests, quizzes, or power points. You learn so many practical and valuable skills to use. You also get to add many different certificates to your LinkedIn Profile just for doing the homework in the class. You will need to come to class if you wish to succeed.
Class is based on group work. Attendance is not taken but very helpful to show up so you know what you're doing for your team assignment. Some of the assignments are time consuming but provide meaningful content. He was available outside of class and always more than willing to answer any questions.
This class really revolves around the idea of collaboration and teamwork because you are assigned to a group for the entire semester. You're doing large group projects and solo homework that involves Microsoft Azure, Dynamics 365, etc. He is honestly a fair grader. As long as you give some effort to this class, you will get at least a B.
John has been a great professor during the pandemic. He was very clear about what is due and when it is due. He even emails you about when material is due. If you dont pass this class with a grade you want, it is YOUR fault. I highly recommend this professor! Group projects are pretty heavy, but the material isn't tough.
John is a pretty good professor! He is very clear and considerate with his students in terms of grading. He is also quite caring for the students to learn the class content and know their future endeavors. Lastly, this class is all about group and individual assignments that revolves around Microsoft Azure, Dynamics, etc.
I took this class during the COVID-19 pandemic. This class covered eCommerce. He is very considerate with his students in terms of grading. He is also caring for the students to learn the class content and know their future endeavors. Lastly, this class is all about group and individual assignments that revolves around Google Suite, SEO, etc.
John is a great guy and a great instructor. You know what is expected from you throughout the whole semester right from the beginning of class. the course revolves around the use of different business-related software, so you really need to pay attention. If you are willing to actually learn the programs and do the work, it's an easy A.
