Worst professor I've had at GSU. Even he doesn't understand the answers to some of his test questions. I had a 79 and he would not round me up to a B
Nice guy, pretty funny. Got an A on the first test, didn't study much. Just go to class and look over his review.
WORST TEACHER EVER. I studied with groups of people and still made a D. He doesn't understand the answers to some of his own questions in class or on the test. When he is ready to move on he does and he get aggrivated if you ask him to show you again. STAY AWAY.
He's very easy if you just make yourself go to class and take notes. His lectures are a bit boring, though.

He is a pretty nice guy. Class was not that difficult. If you go to class and take notes thats all that is on the test. The only reason why you would even use your book is to help with the quizs. Only studied notes with no book and still got an A. I would recomend
This class was extremely hard and boring.I dreaded going to this class.Although he is a nice teacher that still doesn't makeup for his hard test. Attendance isn't mandatory, but encouraged. He curves grades b/c everybody does horrible on the test. The real problem with him is that he teaches things one way, but ask things different on the test.
Class is not that hard if you make yourself go everyday. He can be a bit boring but does give some extra credit.
His class is super boring and attendace is worth 15% of your grade. I wanted to die from boredom. His test were extremely hard. If you do bad on the homework you will do even worse on the test. I read the book, studied the notes, and did the homework and still got an F on the HW and Test. Another teacher in the department said he was the hardest.
Extremely doesn't describe him! I'm a Logistics & Economics double major, and this class was not only boring, but frustrating. You would go home and struggle with homework for 2 hours sometimes not to get anywhere because his lectures are completely different then what they present n the book. Get another teacher if you can't wait till next semster
Dr. King is a great professor, he's extremely helpful..I went to his office hours a few times a week to look over tests. A LOT of notes & lecture but if you pay attention and study hard you should be fine, I dont understand how people failed this class multiple times, it's not that difficult if you show up and pay attention.
This guy was great. I only joined this site so I could leave a nice comment here. I didn't use a book and got an A. I went to class and took notes, oh yeah, paid attention too. Who would have thought THAT would work? Great teacher, difficult, but worth it.
Great teacher. As another said, I joined site just to rate this guy. I hate hate hate economics and got a C in my 2105 class and am currently pulling an A in 2106 because of Dr. King's class (going into 3rd test). Yes, he isn't an easy A but all the material you are tested over comes from book. He tells you this at beggining of class.
SUPER HARD! He is a nice guy but he makes this class ten times harder than it really is. I got an A in 2105 but I am barely pulling a C in his class. He gives you a study guide before the test but doesn't give you the answers! Really hard teacher! Get someone else if you can!
Dr. King teaches a difficult subject, but teaches it well. The class was tough for me but I visited him often during office hours. He was very helpful and I ended up making an A. Only 4 tests and 4 homeworks; no quizzes.
Dr King is deff a very good professor that knows his stuff, but wouldn't suggest for econ 2105 b/c he teaches alot of upper level economics classes and graduate courses
Extremely HARD class but Dr. King is a good professor and tries a lot to make it easy. He is the least hard professor teaching this class. He will help you if you have questions. TAKE HIM.
He is a funny and enthusiastic man but his teachers will go way over your head. His tests are not fair compared to what were on the practice exams and you can only miss one class without your grade being penalized. Most of my class ended up barely making a C. Take someone else!
Go to class and read the chapter or you're going to do bad on the random quizzes. Very hard to bs your way through them. His first test is killer, the rest are based off of the hw due before the test. You really have to put forth effort in this class or you'll fail. He did a giant curve at end of semester since most of the class was failing lol

I thought Dr. King was a medium level difficulty professor for the masters program. He tries to help, but is can be difficult to understand his explanations. He does post video lectures and encourages discussion, which is better than the other professors I've had in the program.
Awful professor. Impossible tests, laughs at questions and enjoys belittling students. Avoid taking him.
I wouldn't recommend taking him. He seems to know his material but he assumes that just because it's easy for him it will be easy for you too. I got an A in ECON 2105 and did well in Econ in high school also and I'm completely lost in this guy's class. If I could withdraw, I would but this class is required for my major. I would avoid him!!
He seemed like an alright guy but his lectures were very hard to follow and he talked in circles A LOT.
Video lectures frequently had mistakes in them or the textbook used had mistakes. The content was already difficult but the materials often made it more difficult. The book and the professor sometimes used different notation. Unless you can teach yourself, I would take a different course.
After you miss one class it is two points off your final exam each time. I am pretty good at teaching myself stuff so I'm scraping by with a high C or low B. His tests are difficult. His lectures he talks in circles and is amazing if you want to be confused. Class average on test 5060. My 70 he called an amazing grade for his class.
Very personable teacher but the material is hard. If you don't take notes and attend class, you won't do well. Find a good study group if you want to do the best. He gives good tips for how to succeed. I would suggest you talk to him in class and go to his office. He is likely to help student's grades if he likes you.

I hated this class. He was very confusing and his notes NEVER reflected the exams or homework. He only had 6 grades throughout the whole semester. Avoid this class at all costs
Terrible teacher. Worst teacher I've ever had at Georgia southern and I am a junior. Did not explain things well at all, not very helpful, and was actually mean to the class.
He is hard. This is the hardest class that Econ majors have to take. It is hard. if you expect it to be easy, you will fail. I really enjoy him as a professor, but this is a tough class.
The exams are extremely difficult with a general average of 66%. You will need to put in work to pass. He's a tough grader. He does give some small extra credit opportunities for the final, but don't bet on it to save you. He considers a D to be a passing grade and a C to be a good grade. Fewnone make As.

Firetruck this guy. He would say one thing quiz you on it and then you would get the answer wrong on the exam--when they were really right. The class had to argue the answers based what he said and then he would claim the answer key was wrong. Not kidding, stay away from this professor. I'm an A student and loved econ until he ruined it.
Where do I even begin!? His lectures are confusing, he only talks in hypothetical terminology, rarely walks through sample problems. His feedback on tests and homework is incredibly generic. He won't clearly show you what you did wrong or what concepts you're missing. Assigns way too much work for a 3 credit hour class.
This professor is just plain bad. He won't have time for you if you need help. He actually will make jokes on your feedback if you make mistakes. You should avoid his classes if you want to learn anything. His lectures will frequently have mistakes. I was very interested in learning about economics so I left to attend a different school.
He's willing to help you some if you come to his office hours, but the lectures are extremely confusing. It's one of those classes where the test averages is failing.
Dr. King managed to make an already difficult subject even worse. Pretty decent guy, but not helpful, and his tests were almost impossible. Average grade for exams was in the low 60's, which he considers a good grade. I'd avoid taking him if you can. Even if you put in the extra effort and study time, it likely won't help.
Do not take him I he doesn't help you prepare and the tests are insane. Most people never get more than 8 questions correct on the multiple choice part.
The tests are awful. Other than that, I didn't have much of a problem with this class.
Before I took Professor King, I read his bad ratings on here and chose to ignore him Don't make the same mistake I did! His tests are ridiculous and have no relation to the material you read or go over in lectures. I would never take him again.
Professors like him are the reason that I wish schools would stop offering tenure to teachers. even if he sucks ( and believe me, he sucks) the school can not get rid of him

I loved this professor! He is the reason I changed my major to economics. It is not an easy class and you will have to work. Homework isn't bad, he just assigns it often. You must go to class or he takes points of your final grade. For tests, watch the audio lectures and study the HW and you'll pass!
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Does not know how to teach one bit. Hardly explains anything but you HAVE to understand the material to do the homework and tests. Homework is super hard and test are next to IMPOSSIBLE.

This is the worst professor I have ever had, I would never take him. He doesn't teach the material slowly or in an understanding matter. You are better off taking Dr. Brown & I recommend taking this (his-Dr. Brown) class in the summer. I failed Dr. King, the first time I have ever failed a class in college. If at all possible, DO NOT TAKE HIM!
One of the worst professors I've ever had if not THE worst. He takes his class as a challenge to fail you. He does use the book but has the pages needed online. He's quite confident in himself, so he speeds through all of the notes, thinking students will learn just as easily as he gets it. He doesn't teach, he just expects you to get it. DONT TAKE
This is the Worst professor currently walking on campus. It's as if he finds pleasure in seeing students fail. Asking him questions or going to office hours is pointless as he just continues to trash on how he shouldn't have to explain the concept again.
I took his class in person, it was an awful experience My friend took him online, also awful experience Another friend took him despite both of our warnings. He regretted it immediately. He also posts a test grade the day after the drop date, so you don't know if you should stay or not
I studied at least one our a day for this class. 2 during tests weeks. I made a 69.9 and he wouldn't round to a C. So I made a D which is failing for COBA majors. I retook it with Dr. Ressler, Studied the same amount and made an A without the curve Also in each class, I only missed 1 day
Dr. King is one of the worst professors I have ever taken at Georgia Southern. He goes extremely fast and he knows he teaches a very difficult class yet does not care to assist students even when you go to his office hours and beg for help, quite often he thinks its funny when you show that you're struggling because he gets it so easily. Exams are so hard! 3 exams so far and almost everyone has failed every exam.
His microeconomics course at GSU, which should not be anywhere near as difficult as his lectures make it. Lots of contradictions between what I read in text and his notes. His class honestly makes me wish the semi truck that put me out the previous semester when I was taking it under a "much" better instructor, had just done me in period.
He is NOT a good professor. He doesn't explain the material correctly and expects you to be able to follow along with every step. I would never, ever take any of his classes again. for the first test, the class average was a 45% no one got anything over a 75%. Majority of the class is going to the Dean to complain.
I would not recommend Professor King . Passing his class seems so impossible. I dropped it after the second test along with 10 other people. He expects you to know the material & he is rude especially if you ask a question he feels as if you shouldve know. DONT TAKE HIM!

Awful class do not take if you want to pass. Dr. King is all over the place in his teaching. His tests and homework are almost impossible and it is impossible to get help from anyone other than him because he writes his own curriculum. Not cut out to teach at Georgia Southern.
He cannot teach. He jumps around in his lectures. Goes too fast. His examples barely make sense. His video lectures do not help. One on one he is rude and arrogant. He is amused when you don't understand something. So far, overall class average is 50%. He likes to remind you that he "wrote the book" and tells you to ignore his bad reviews LOL RUN!!
Absolute worst teacher ever I have ever had. I am not writing this out of anger because I did get a 91 in the class but i'm warning everyone to not take him. His attendance policy is after you miss 1 class you get 2 points taken off FINAL grade, even if you had an excuse note. His lectures in class are extremely boring and confusing. DONT TAKE!
On the first day of class Dr. King assured the entire class that his "Rate my Professor scores weren't entirely accurate". I tried my absolute hardest throughout this class yet all I got in return were 50's on all of my exams. His lecture does not reflect the exam material and his lack of other grades makes it nearly impossible to pass! STAY AWAY
He isn't awful, his lectures are just very very heavy. I take really good notes during every class but still am confused. He can be a little rude, especially to students who ask questions in class. He is kinda funny tho.
I've never in my entire college career received lower than a B and yet this class ruined me and my gpa. He is easy to speak with on zoom. He's very petty and passive aggressive to students. Do the homework and take it seriously because you'll only have 6 homework grades and three exam grades.

Do not take Dr. King under any circumstances. I have been a straight A student for years, until I took his class. He rambles on in lectures, doesn't answer any questions, and puts uncovered material on his tests. After our first test, half the class dropped. I wish I had taken their lead and dropped this class. Now, I have to retake it over summer.
John King is the worst professor I have ever taken. He is a terrible teacher and very condescending and rude. He makes you feel stupid if you don't understand the material. Half the class just dropped including myself. The only graded assignments are tests and sometimes homework so there isn't much opportunity for pulling your grade up.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. His lectures are all over the place and make no sense at all. The tests have nothing to do with what he taught. I got a 20 on my first exam after he told us it would be based on the homework. nope. He gave a homework assignment the week of the exam that is it. Asked him for tutor lists&he said he's better.
Horrible teacher. Gets frustrated by confused students rather than helpful, very little study/homework material, seems entirely uninterested in the success of his students, doesn't help that the course is already one of the hardest I've taken. "I am not required to pass a single one of you." If you are somehow forced to take this teacher: don't.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. He enjoys being the smartest man in the room way too much. If you email him for help, he won't help you at all, but he will call you stupid. Only 6 grading opportunities all semester and no external resources for help outside of class. DO NOT TAKE.
Everyone and their mother fails every test. Just dont take this guy you will fail. I studied two weeks in advance for this one test. Even read the textbook word for word on each topic and got a 40. Total joke.

Say goodbye to Hope/Zell. 0 outside help besides office hours, and attendance top hat questions. Tests & HW are mult choice, but this kid uses the same sentence for all the answers, but changes words like "increasing/decreasing" along with "none above". Absolutely 0 class participation because nobody knows whats going on. I wish I could write more.

Very difficult class to pass if you do not make maximum effort to learn the material on your own. Although he does not require you to read the textbook I found that it helped me more than anything. Would not recommend this professor.
He did not teach at all. He used outdated lectures. He barley responded to emails. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER.
Negative reviews for what? Look, this isn't a class where you can simply use Quizlet/Google to find answers. You have to THINK and APPLY what you learned from the class; students who consistently rely on Quizlet/Google will, of course, fail. Extra credit is provided and the lowest test grade is dropped. Don't let the negative reviews deter you.
I would recommend not taking him unless you just wanna give yourself a hard time. He's the type of professor that wants to intentionally make it hard on students.
Unfortunately everything you learn in his lectures is different than the test. I would study for hours before a test and believe I did a great job only to get a 58. The test material is slightly different then what he teaches and because of that slight difference you're likely to get half of the questions wrong. He has a good personality though.
He is willing to help students get a good grade in the class he just requires students to critically think.
I'm most likely going to get a C in his class. He's tough, but he's not a terrible professor. He explains the material well and will clarify any questions you ask if you don't understand. This isn't a class where you can find everything on Quizlet. Really study for this class, and you'll most likely get an A. Understanding economics is not easy.
He is the hardest professor I have ever had within the ECON department, but I learned so much in this course. If you are an econ major, he will push you to challenge yourself and actually grasp the concepts. I've met in his office hours multiple times and he is always more than willing to help.
He posts videos for us to watch and take notes on and each week we have homework on the video. The tests are kinda hard but if you study the homework (some of the questions are the same) and look over your notes (you can use your notes on the exam) you should be fine.
Some people dislike him because the course is challenging and he pushes you to answer difficult questions, but he is an amazing professor. The course thoroughly challenged me and I spent a lot amount of time outside class studying but I have never learned more from a class. I could feel my brain becoming wrinkled every class. good guy but difficult
He will set you up for failure. No homework, no signs of showing extra credit, due dates are trash and attendance policy is trash. Im going to fail his class because of his teaching ability and lack of resources for his students. Not worth it

DO NOT TAKE!!! First of all he takes 2 points off for each absence, so if you skip class from time to time be prepared for you grade to drop at least one letter grade. His lectures make no sense and are confusing, nobody in class is able to understand his material and nobody even responds or participates in his lectures because nobody understands.
First class I ever failed in my life, lockdown browser tests, 2 points off per absence, almost no homework. Teaches very fast during lectures never taking time for questions and doesn't explain definitions. Draws a million graphs without explanations to them. Everyone in the class is so clueless nobody can answer any of his questions that he asks.

he has no extra practice problems, he emails stuff on folio but he never actually puts the thing on there he just yaps he legit said to talk to an empty chair for help when all we have is one quiz before the test and the tests are 10 times harder than quiz and the quiz closes so u can't even review the tests are impossible
He uses outdated lectures he has the most monotone voice ever and all he does is just post his lectures he's been using for 20 years cuz buddies ancient and still a virg he legit just reads word for word what the PowerPoint is and nothing makes any sense he just has a buncha random words on there graphs with no labels it's sad for this guy
I came back 6 months later just to once again express how bad of a professor John King is. If you're seeing this you should quit your job as a professor and never ever try and teach again. He's used the same lectures for years and never labels his graphs. Not a single student ever understood what he was talking about and he never posted practice.
Dr. King is a good guy and a good economist, but there are some things to be desired. lectures are a bit old and tough to read (if online) but honestly he is always available for questions and is happy to explain anything you don't get... he's a strict dude, and his classes are tough, but he knows his stuff and is happy and willing to help.
