Kulkoskly is an amazing teacher, he is a little tough, but not impossible. He is one of the nicest professor's on campus...and Starbucks SUCKS!

He is out there where is personality is concerned, but he is nice and try's to be humours. If you ask questions when you don't understand him it helps. No book needed he gives you a cd with his notes on it, study them and you will pass with flying colors!

You need permission to get to his class, for a reason, very hard especially the telecourse. Tests are from details, not the basic you understand well, multiple choice but you NEED to study. Hard class to take, but he is very helpful and answers questions even by email.

All around great guy.Labs aren't always that fun but he made time fly by.Always kept you focused and if you were daydreaming,he would talk about tv shows to get you back on track.I struggled a bit on tests but he allowed and extra credit paper to boost your grade.Highly recommend!

Man, those exams were hard for multiple choice- probably due to compressed time frame of course. Don't leave studying to the night before. In fairness, he warned us, and made himself available for help. I really enjoyed it, in spite of my test anxiety. I learned alot- Hey, how about that Pluto?

A really, really great professor. I've never met one that made himself so available to help his students. He's a really nice guy and genuinely loves what he teaches and wants people to learn, and it shows. He makes his students feel comfortable, even though the material could get hard. I wish he taught more subjects so I could have him again.

Kulkosky... He's terrific. His lectures are extremely interesting and he doesn't bore you. You don't need to buy a textbook. He provides all the notes you need online... all you gotta do is print them and ofcourse read them. You absolutely need to read the notes! everything on the tests come from the notes and pay attention to the constellations.

Honestly after reading some of these comments, I feel he wrote them himself. He is a nice guy, and does no his facts, but the amount of work he gives you is outrageous! A test every week on 20pgs of typed notes. 87% of the notes are not even on the test!So if you have a family, a job, or taking any other course.. then i dont reccomend taking him!

Prof Kulkosky is a very interesting teacher. He really tries to understand and help his students. He does not use a book. He has all his class notes on the internet. All of the exam material is straight out of his notes. I developed a love for astronomy after taking his class. Ten thumbs up for Prof Kulksoky. To quote him.. "COOL"

Kulkosky is the man! I highly recommend taking any and all of his classes. No text required and all of the notes are available online. I'm currently taking him, but we're having a great time and you can definitely tell he loves his job. 20 pages of notes is way better than shelling out 100+ dollars on a book, by the way.

I think he is a great professor, and those who say the material from the notes aren't on test are lying. However, if you think you can read the notes once and pass, don't take the class. You have to have time to study for each test (they are weekly), he just doesn't give out A's. Overall, He is really fair, and incredibly good looking.

Kulkosky is THE MAN. Don't let 1 or 2 naysayers sway you from taking his course. I have taken both Astronomy courses with this man and, while the subject matter was a little difficult for me to grasp, I thoroughly enjoyed his classes. Sure, he talks about TV shows. Who wants to learn a subject from a dry professor with no sense of humor? Not me.

Kulkosky rocks! Very clear in his lectures, and you don't even have to take notes, he already has them made up and you just have to print them! Tests are on exactly what he tells you they will be on. Only bad thing is that his physical appearance sometimes makes it hard to focus. He oozes of sexuality. Hottest professor I've ever had. Super sexy!

Kulkosky is the man. Cool dude and has a good method of teaching but the tests are hard. There will be several questions with similar answers and one element being different for all. But that's not all that bad, you feel great if you pass his tests. Loves to discuss food and has an interest in cataclysmic events. Oh yeah, he's also funny as hell.

If you're looking for an easy A, this probably shouldn't be your first choice science class. That being said, he IS awesome. He doesn't review (he shouldn't have to, it's not high school) and you need to study. But he knows his material and is helpful in every other way. 11 tests, lowest gets dropped. Mr. K is one of the best professors at Suffolk. The tests aren't extremely difficult, but they are a little tricky. If you study for 15 minutes a day you'll get an A. He's very friendly, open, helpful and hilarious. The world would be a better place if there were more professors like Mr. K. He also looks like Dane Cook's younger brother.

Professor K. is an AMAZING teacher. He doesn't make you buy a textbook because he knows they are overpriced. He took his own time to type out notes on each section. His tests are hard until you get used to them. Study the notes and you'll do fine. As a person, he is great! He really cares about his students, and wants to help you pass.

Put some effort into the labs, study for the tests, and you'll be in good shape. If you do the work the class really isn't too difficult. He's got a good personality too.

He is a amazing teacher, a great mentor, and a great friend. He is one of my favorit teachers that I have had thus far. He likes to have fun with his students and he makes Astronomy fun as well. I recamend if anyone wants to take Astronomy 101 take it with John Kulkosky because he knows how to teach and he knows how to make education fun.

College is college and it requires one to study. Taking 10 classes then blaming a professor for giving too much work just displays your own naivete. The work is not easy if you don't take the time to study. Good professor, good personality, a lot of studying, but at the end you'll appreciate it. No textbook, and labs are not collected, holla.

Anyone who gives Professor K a low rating is lazy, plain and simple. Astronomy is a lot of material and requires effort outside of class. He presents the material in an easy to understand way and even typed up the notes so we didn't have to buy a textbook. If you don't want the work, you don't belong in college.

Class was great and I would do again even if it was almost 20 years ago. I hooked up with my wife in his class back in 1992. Obviously, I owe him tremendous props. Funny, clear, informative, easily approachable and the planetarium time was a blast

Definitely the coolest Professor Ive had so far. Class is a little tough but he gives you every possibility of passing. You just have to put the work in and study. Very fun class.

Out of 60-something credits I've completed, this is the first class where I felt like I was just going to hang out and talk about something cool, instead of getting lectured for hours on end about something I don't care about. Prof. K's Very down to earth and willing to work with you regardless of circumstance if your putting forth honest effort.

Really great teacher. He gets a little off topic sometimes (usually with a funny comment or story) but he always manages to teach what needs to be taught before class is over. NO TEXTBOOK FOR AST101! The tests are not very hard - whoever claims they're hard just didn't bother paying attention. There are a lot of notes but easily a 10/10 professor.

Awesome professor! Very laid back, but not boring. Manages to make a three hour class fly by. Doesn't make you buy an unnecessary and expensive textbook. Rather, we buy lab packets for about $15 and use them nearly every class. Tests are a bit challenging, but he's always willing to help. Pay attention and you'll do well. Overall,a great professor!

Kulkosky is one of the top professors I've had in Suffolk. If you don't have photographic memory you NEED to print out and study the notes. He has his notes on his website for every topic, you just need to print them out, easy. STUDY! Test are fairly difficult in my opinion. No textbook just have to purchase the Lab packet. Take this class!

He is the best

He mostly goes over the labs with you in the class as you go along though a few he does expect you to do as homework, it's all reading. His grades are mostly on tests The lectures are great. If you're a sci fi geek we tended to go off on side tangents on if something should have really worked in a sci fi movie compared to what we were learning.

Didn't mind going to class even though it was 3 hours of lecture because he managed to have you laughing from time to time and was fine with breaking away from lecture to talk about other stuff. He called to warn me that it wouldn't be easy being that I took the class that was one day a week - he wasn't lying. Would take again just to talk to him.

Kulkosky was a pretty good teacher. Lets you know up front what to expect from the class and the test. Likes to go off topic sometimes but you still get work done. Would highly recommend

Even though with some tough students, Professor Kulkosky endeavors to make class fun and interesting. His grading is completely fair and if you genuinely do the work (which isn't unreasonable at all) then you'll pass, no problems!

He's a great professor. Makes class enjoyable. If you don't put in the work and study, you won't get a great grade. I did not study as much as I should have because I had other priorities. I took Astronomy in High School and absolutely hated it, so taking this class and actually loving it and looking forward to it every week was unexpected. 10/10

Taking his class currently and am genuinely sad that he isn't teaching 102 next semester. He's a hilarious professor and makes me enjoy astronomy more than I already did. Class grade is test based, so as long as you study and listen during his lectures, you'll do fine. Very sarcastic and witty; I'm going to miss his class!

I took professor Kulkosky last fall semester, and honestly one of the best professors I've had. He was very funny and we would joke around a lot. He does tend to off topic a lot, but imo I didn't really mind. He only grades the eight tests he gives you throughout the semester, so study hard and even f you do bad one, he drops the lowest test grade.

While his lectures are easy to pay attention during, and will provide you with some entertainment in the form of stories, you do not need to pay attention in class to get an A on every exam. He provides all notes, and presentations to his students and they contain exactly what was discussed in class.

Prof Kulkosky is a really fun and entertaining teacher. He really cares about the subject and loves talking. Half the class we would go off topic from the lecture and talk about random things. His tests are hard though, you'll need to remember several pages of notes and concepts per test, he has 8 throughout the semester and drops the lowest.

Prof. Kulkosky is very personable and likable. However, his grading format is in need of some desperate revision. Your class grade is entirely based on his tests. Tests that are difficult to pass for a large majority of the class. His notes use inflated language, which complicates simple material. Overall, he's a genuine guy, just has a bad format.

Do not listen to the bad reviews, it's clear some people take this class thinking they could just get an easy A. It's a lab class, you still have to put effort in. We had 7 tests all on the notes he provided us with, he even drops the lowest, the only thing we had to buy was a lab book for 50 dollars. Would definitely recommend taking him.
