Awesome professor, very professional!
Does not teach well!!! To many Stories. TAKE GRACE
Not a very good teacher but if you really do the homework and the study guide you'll do fine in the class. got one of 10 A's on the first midterm
accounting is hard. he outlines the book with powerpoint and examples and then goes over the homework. the best way to learn is to actually read the book and do the homework. hes lectures somewhat help.

I got an A in his class and I am not an accounting person at all! I studied and read the book, but he is very good at leveling with students in order to relate abstract concepts. If you don't mind working, you should do well.
Great professor. Tests are hard but, he gives you points for Homework and a project. He is very helpful and very funny. Best professor I've taken.
He's a nice guy, but I was new to Accounting then, so when he taught, I was even more confused. You have to have a very good teacher for basic Accounting or you'll never survive the other upper level Accounting courses.
doesn't talk about acct, talks about his cars and every job he's had. you have to teach yourself the material. tests are hard because he doesn't teach!
Basically you really have to teach yourself the material by reading the textbook. One chapter per week, and every assignment is due for each chapter. Though he doesn't really teach everything in the class, but he's always willing and welcome for helping out your questions.
three tests and homework almost every week
really helpful professor, goes the extra mile. HOMEWORK DUE of EACH CHAPTER every week. Fast paced, MUST READ THE BOOK and DO THE PROBLEMS IN IT! Acct is hard, but lacey is very helpful in aiding you to understand the material. Keep up with the work, should be no sweat. car guy, helps if you like cars too...has a sweet Lotus TT
Hard class. Sometimes he goes off on a tangent about jobs he had when he was a kid or the comedy club his brother runs. Read the book, it will clarify stuff that may seem confusing the way Lacey explains it.
Nice guy, really nice guy, BUT HE DOESN'T TEACH! You learn more about his family, his downfall and rise in college, accounting jobs, and career in accounting more than you actually learn about ACCOUNTING. I made a mistake taking this class at 8am. Reading the book only helps so much because certain accounting process are not fully explained.
he's okay...i would recommend him. he's really nice

His lectures are confusing and dont go with the tests.
Never went to class. Did most of the homework. He curves alot. Theres no way you can fail. Two midterms and one final.
Grades on a HUGE curve. Just read the book and answer the questions in the student handbook that goes with the textbook. 2 midterms and 1 final. Easy B.
My class was at 8 in the morning so I might be biased, but this guy was so boring. I only showed up for class to turn in my HW and take tests. Spent some time with a tutor at a later hour. It was an easy B. So he is boring and not very helpful, but not too tough.
Nice guy, pretty boring subject content. Tests are all multiple choice, a little easier than I expected. Seems the tests are more on chapter material than homework problems.
I didn't understand his lecture they were boring and on top of that the lecture was early in the morning so I was asleep in class almost every class meeting . Not to mention had a hard time keeping up with the homework. If you can keep up with hard and boring ness then take him.
Great class! Helpful professor - will always take the time to help with any problems you have. If you come to lecture, pay attention, take good notes and actually read the book...you will be fine.
Great guy! Very helpful and explains clearly. Accounting can be difficult for some, but if you work hard you will learn a lot and do well. Study guide is a great help if you need extra help and want to get and A. Multiple choice questions on tests and he curves
His teaching style was okay. Try to sit near the middle or front of the class because he writes on the board and it's hard to see. Tests are kinda hard, but he is helpful if you go to his office for help. Not a bad teacher, but not an easy class.
Very sweet guy. Knows a lot about the subject and is very passionate about topic, but very Boring. Hard to stay awake in this class. Homework due every week and tests are brutal. If you take this class, be sure to read the book or you will be lost. Grades on a curve, so this might help some a little.
This guy is a terrible teacher. I really tried in this class and although I ended up with a B. I really did it by myself, if you go to his office hours he gives you the impression that he is helps you because of his patronizin demeanor. 3 tests that dont go with what he teaches...read the book..dont take him if you dont have to
This one takes the cake. Harasses me all year for cheating and realizes on the day of the final that i'm left handed and there are only right handed desks in the room so i have to sit turned. You'd think a professoer would have to know his right from his left but apparently not. pretty much a waste. i advise not taking him.
3 tests and a hw assignment for every chapter. this guy gets a bad rap bc people dont wont accept that u actually have to put work in outside of class to do well. i admit it definately wasn't easy getting an A but if u read, do the hw and study u will get at least a B.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! he is very boring and does not teach you anything. He talks about his life and experiences. Does not review for the exam. He knows his material but does not know how to teach it. If you do take him read the book. Nice man but not a good teacher.
Lacey is one of the most established, thorough, and helpful professors I've had. He's cool as hell, too. If you listen to him, you will become rich. The previous commentors are in for a well-deserved awakening. You either get it or you don't, ya retards!
I really enjoyed his class. He shares his experiences and makes the material easier to understand. He is clear about what he expects. Although he doesn't provide study guides for test, all you have to do to study is do the homework or look over what you have already done. If you talk to him, he will help you in any way he can.
Absolutely amazing! Probably the most accredited professor in the college of business. It would be a shame one didn't take his or her first accounting class with Lacey. He is the most genuine, most helpful, and most caring professor I have had yet. He has so much experience and he wants nothing more than to share it with his students.
i think its pointless to go to class...i only go on days where we turn in homework...you can teach yourself just by reading the book and doing the hw
Dr. Lacey, is one of the most qualified people I have ever met to teach accounting. His experience in the field is extensively broad and yet he still makes students his number one priority. He is not easy but you will learn a lot from him because he is very good at teaching. He is always available in his office when you need to ask him questions
i came into this accounting class, somewhat interested in learning the subject..and to fulfill a GE. Although he's the sweetest, and genuine professors I've had...I hate to say anything bad about him. If you're debating whether to take this class, I would not suggest. His lectures are dry class based on tests.
ACCT 465 (International Acct) is supposed to be boring and hard, but Prof. Lacey tries hard to make it interesting and fun. Exams are extremely hard, but he curves! Also, the project is kind of confusing and takes a long time! And it's very very long. Homeworks will be in the exam, so try hard to understand them. Good luck!
Lacey is a good teacher but sometimes i got a little bored in class but i mean theres only so much accounting someone can take in an hour and half! If u come to class and pay attention and read the book and do the HW u will do ok! The HW is credit/no credit so just try...the points from the HW will help u out in the end and the extra credit!
Dr. Lacey is extremely helpful & funny. Total resemblance of what an acctnt should look like. Class consists of 2 MT & final. MUST read & attend class if ACCT'ing is not ur major. Takes a lot of attention and wrk for an A. If you have n e ?'s c him during O.H very helpful & thorough. Take Dr. Lacey if this is NOT ur major, he's better than the rest
This class was totally hard, he did clarify and gave good examples. Attending lectures helped resolve some questions I had. Reading the book and doing those extra problems at the end of each chapters helped out a lot.
Great professor! Loves what he does, and makes it obvious. Listen to lectures, write notes, and do the homework problems and you'll get an easy B. Reading the chapters isn't a must, be probably help a bit.
He is a great accounting teacher and he cares about his students. He understands that it is a difficult subject and he tries to make it as clear as possible. There are 3 exams and the final, just make sure you know how to do the homework problems and actually understand the material and you will do fine.
talks about himself alot, but it just makes you respect what he has done and makes u want to listen to him. good teacher, knows alot about accounting and makes it about as interesting as accounting can be. tests are easy, hw is long and hard (thats what she said)
he does talk a lot about himself. class gets boring and sometimes the lecture is hard to understand but you need to pay attention because the book is even harder to understand. homework is hard. but he is a good teacher and knows his material.
BEST PROFESSOR! He is a great accounting teacher and he cares about his students a lot. He gives real life examples that make everything much clearer. There are 3 exams and the final, DO the homework and READ the book and he'll help with everything in the middle. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Greatest professor I've ever had! He's very intelligent, super cool, and pretty damn funny. You MUST TAKE HIS CLASS. Very friendly, experienced, and willing to help any student in need.
Awesome Professor! He curves each exam. Its an easy A if you put some effort. Do the homework and take notes, those are your ticket to your A.
This teacher is the best of the department. He really helps you understand the material. Homework is not graded upon correctness but is mandatory each week. Take him!!
By far one of the best professors I have encountered at CSULB. Great man, always willing to help out and is pationate about Accounting. He makes everything clear. DO the homework, come to class, be a good listener and note taker and READ the book and you will get an A! I would take him again anytime.
Wonderful professor! Always has a line at his office hours because he is willing to help! M/C tests, homework problems from book, & offered an extra credit. Lectures very helpful with understanding confusing concepts, but lecture is reinforcement for the text. Very helpful to read text prior to lecture, so you have a basic understanding already.
Hw is not graded based on correctness. Tests are M/C and they are curved. Extra credit was offered. Dr. Lacey is helpful during office hours. He is an okay professor.
He's really nice. The course, however, is really hard and confusing! you have to do some reading and studying by yourself. Test is curved =] but you really have to study!
He is probably a good 201 teacher but he isn't a great intermediate teacher. He talks to himself and the white board, he expects you to remember 201. A lot of homework assigned every week, the book is needed. First midterm is easy but still tough, second is a killer.
I'd try to avoid him if i were you. People might say he's easy because he curves, but his exams are extremely difficult to understand. Not a very good lecturer either. He mostly talks about his "good" life.
A good role model for aspiring accountants but not a great lecturer. He curves but tests are really hard and I personally could never complete them on time. There's homework due every week beginning 1st week of class. But no matter who you take this class with it will be hard and require lots of work.
No matter who you take, acct 201 is hard unless you're naturally smart. Lectures barely helped. I self taught myself though the book/hw. His tests are hard, class average was a D. The curve boosted us about 7-8% each test. He sets it so that a D=C, but it's much harder to get a B. Take someone else if you're not a morning person.
Very inspiring and is an expert in his field. Lectures and weekly homework are geared toward helping you prepare for the test. Biggest gripe would have to be his shoddy hand writing, which will not help you if you're going to sit far away.
Took him at 8 am in the morning. Weekly hw which he goes over in class. Tests are a bit hard but he curves them for a managable grade. he's a great professor, know his stuff and is always willing to clarify or help you out.
Accounting is a bit difficult to teach. I still passed with an A+ even after skipping class every week. But I also have friends who go to class everyday and they passed with a C or B.. So, this class is a matter of how fast you can understand the concepts and how "smart" (not how much) you study.
This class was very challenging. There is weekly homework which is credit no credit. Three tests worth 90% of your grade. Lacey was a fine professor, this is just a seriously difficult class.
Accounting is a difficult course no matter who you take it with. Lacey is very personable and will help clarify any points that you are having trouble with. He is a little concept driven but grades on a curve as he expects the mean of the class to be around 60-65.
assigns homework assignments then goes over them in class, he grades on a curve, he uses powerpoint slidesbut does lots of examples on board, a little funny, really enjoyed the class
I had his class for 201 and 300A. As long as you know the concepts from 201, then 300A wouldn't be as hard. If you found 201 hard, then 300A will be harder. There's Hw, but it doesn't really influence your grade, unless you're borderline. 3 tests total. Overall, he is the most helpful professor I have ever come accross. One of the best at CSULB.
GREAT professor, really knows what he is doing. Makes a boring topic very interesting and FUN... Grading is curved and easy, 2 midterms and a final, extra credit offered, lenient with HW grading, fairly easy A and you learn a lot! Very friendly and HELPFUL, he truely wants everyone to succeed, and cares for all his students.
This professor is nice, but he is definitely not good at teaching. He talks mostly about his personal experiences and the the projects he is on . If you like to learn moral lesson instead of ACCT, feel free to take his class. He also likes to makes up his own problems and it makes materials complicated. This class is mostly self-studying.
Very helpful professor who actually cares about his students. HW every week takes forever to do but at least he only grades on it being complete. Tests I found to be pretty difficult just study the sample q's on Wiley.com Would definitely recommend Prof. Lacey
Prof. Lacey is very experienced in accounting, thus he has many stories to share. I feel he focuses more on concepts in accounting and less on the tedious calculations. It makes sense since you need to understand what affects journal entries before you create them. I got an A by reading and doing practice quizzes on Wiley, com. Take Lacey
This class is a core class for accounting. It is a pretty difficult class in itself. He tries his best to be very helpful and he actually cares about his students. Homework takes a long time to do.
Prof Lacey was the worst professor I've ever taken! It was a big classroom and it seemed he was only talking to the front row. Mumbled a lot & talked more about himself than the concepts. Overall boring class but hw is easy & he's lenient on grading.. helps if you go on wileyplus & do practice problems for tests. DON'T TAKE HIM
He's a great professor, the homework help to understand what you are learning in class. In order to pass the exams do the free practice exams on the textbooks website, they are similar to the format of the exams.
His lectures are so confusing. The material is presented as a story and then you're expected to be able to prepare financial statements according to the standards you just learned. LOTS of study time necessary. Invest in the paper book, you will need it for 300B and it helps to learn how to do it without a computer. Tests aren't that bad though.
Do the wiley questions that he recommends, it really helps. Just read the book and listen in on the lectures for snippets of information you need to know for the exam. I thought his class was interesting and fun to learn in.
Taught myself this whole semester. 3 exams 2 midterms and 1 final. Homework every week via Wiley or you can do it by hand.
Class consists of 3 exams (2 midterms, 1 final) and homework. Dr. Lacey is extremely knowledgable. I found his lectures to be interesting, but not very helpful with homework. He recommends you do the Wiley questions, do them they help. Overall this class was interesting, but you will spend a lot of time teaching the material to yourself.
Class is too difficult and he did not explain well.
Dr. Lacey is an awesome and helpful professor. His grading is fair and his lectures and good. You will need your book!! Apply time to this class and you'll pass with an A or B. Plus, he Is also very knowledgeable in Accounting and can help you in your career. He really cares about his students succeeding in life. I would take him again.
He is a very sweet professor. really wants you to do well and offers a lot of help. HW are easy point and he doesn't require you purchase wileyplus. I didn't get much from his lectures but as long as you read the chapters you're good. tests are multiple choice and curved.
Lacey is the sweetest guy but he goes too in depth. If you don't read throughly and do extra hw problems for your own understanding, expect to drop. If you want clarification sign up for him, but if you want hands on learning, don't take him.
Nice guy who knows his stuff. But lectures are not that helpful. You NEED to read the book and do the HW to do well. Make an effort to read the book, pay attention when he reviews the HW. Tests and overall grade are curved. Tests 90%, HW 10% of grade. Easy to fall behind so be smart. Easy to pass, but hard to get an A, and B is no piece of cake.
1 hw assignment due every week. 3 exams. Dr. Lacey is a very nice man who truly cares about his students and is helpful when needed but doesn't do all that much teaching. His lectures don't help too much and I would say 80% of things are self taught from the readings. If you don't read, it is very hard to pass.
Lacey is too smart for his own good. He is a very accomplished accountant, however, he is not the best professor. He talks about topics with the assumption that you already know the language of accounting. You will definitely need to do the reading to get context for his lectures. His tests are difficult and he makes you work hard for the grade.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Approachable, kind, and inspirational - but he's not for everyone. Exams are long, and doing additional practice problems outside of hw/lecture examples is a MUST to get an A. If you're really strong with core Financial ACCT material (or love accounting) TAKE HIM; if you aren't, get ready to study hard.
Prof. Lacey seems like an interesting individual who's passionate about his career as an accountant. But for me, he's the reason why I'm 100% certain that I won't go into accounting. If you do choose this class, the best advice I can give you is that you be serious when reading the assigned chapters before his lectures and study hard for his exams.
let's be real. Accounting is hard but Lacey is the best accounting teacher on campus. He made the class bearable and he's so sweet I wanted to do the work so I wouldn't let him down. Don't get me wrong this class is hard, but with any other teacher I probably would have failed, with him, I'll get a b or a c. If I studied even more, probably an a.
Loved Lacey, he made lectures enjoyable and is very personable and humble. I recommend that you attend SI and read the chapters thoroughly in order to get an A.
The sweetest and most approachable prof I've ever took. He will help you with anything you need. Just read the chapters and do the homework to study for exams.
such a sweet professor and wants you to be successful. accounting is a tough subject and doesn't come easily to everyone, you'll obviously have to work for good grades on the tests. he grades homework on effort, not correctness so just make it look like you tried. recommend the S/I, it helps a ton.
Took ACCT201 as an honors course so it wasn't a lecture class. He cares a lot about his students but sometimes gets off track. You can turn in homework on paper or wileyplus. Buying the e-book is essential to do homework. There is a group project at the end of the semester but overall he is an easy grader and knows his stuff.
Lacey likes to talk about himself and his experiences so lectures can be a little boring. Does I-clicker questions so you should show up. Learned from the book more than in class so definitely rent the book but he does do examples you just have to follow along. Homework is online- Wiley-plus. Exams aren't too hard and he curves them.
YOU HAVE TO READ!!! He lectures basing it that everyone has previewed the chapter before coming. tells a lot of his real world stories that help you remember. Curves the tests because everyone bombs them because they don't read; so read-welcome to college. Really helpful in office hours too. REALLY passionate about accounting!
He is the best option for accounting. He tries to really hard to make everyone to pass his class. He is very sweet. Also Lacey is very smart. He seems inspired every time he lectures. Get ready to read. You won't pass if you don't take this class seriously and everything is on the book!
Professor Lacey is very sweet and tries his best, although it is very hard to grasp his teaching material. He does not teach what is on tests so read all the chapters and take NOTES so you can go back and look for them on the final. His curve is huge though.
Good professor. His exams are hard and long. There are about 40 questions each exam with half of it being multiple choice and 2 questions of free response. He curves and is a great guy. You need to work hard though. Take him
The tests are the hardest part of the class. You really have to study the terms and additional problems to do well. It was a difficult course and he does not really go over what will be on the test as much as he should.
Class is very difficult so you must stay on track with readings and homework or even go a little ahead if you can. His teaching style is not for everybody, you will most likely need to be good at self studying but he is always willing to help in/outside of class. 3 tests, 40 Q's MC and 2 free response. Curves really good though and I am grateful
Dr. Lacey is a professor who teaches the subject well and cares for his students. There is just one problem, the lectures. The lectures aren't very specific nor informative, especially the powerpoints. You will need to be able to read on your own outside the class in order to grasp the material. It is challenging but in the end rewarding. Good job.
Professor Lacey is a super nice guy who really cares about his students and their success at learning accounting. Although his lectures do get boring at times, making it hard to pay attention. If you read the book and understand you are set for the tests. The tests were straightforward but could be tricky at times.
Honestly this professor is so judgmental. Hes a funny guy but the way he conducted his ethical leadership class was terrible the lectures are SO boring and dry. There is a scholarship at the end of the class which is the only plus. The journals are tedious and pointless.
Lacey is very sweet and passionate about accounting, but this class was difficult. I attended every lecture, did every homework assignment, did all extra credit assignments, but did poorly on both tests and the final, and I somehow passed with a C. Go to class, go to office hours, don't fall behind, and don't give up!!
Professor Lacey is a great guy who cares a lot about his students. Going to class is worth about 20% of your grade&he does polls over zoom to make sure of that. He made testing a little too complex (lockdown + cameras on zoom) & at times seemed like he didnt car abt what students had to say when it came to his policies. READING IS CRUCIAL
John Lacey is a nice and compassionate man. He just cannot teach. You have to teach yourself by reading the whole textbook. He watches you take the exam, download a lockdown browser, and put your camera at a specific angle. Like I said he is nice but he is not a good professor. He does not care about students concerns.
He wasn't the best at adapting to online learning. He does not teach and expects students to learn everything by reading. He makes students use lockdown browser, zoom, and have camera at a specific angle so he can see your desk. If you have technical problems while taking an exam, he makes your final worth more and doesn't offer a makeup exam.
I didn't really like how he required us to read the chapters first and then only taught examples in class. He should have went over the book content more. His tests were the most difficult tests I have ever taken at csulb. I had to guess on a lot of them because it wasn't very similar to the questions in the book. U have to self study to pass
Prof Lacey is very encouraging and tells great anecdotes.. I got over 100 on all exams. Did not take SI, i took notes each chapter & then did chapter study guides. I also did hours of orion before exam day. Hard class but doable Generous curve.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS! he cannot teach. lectures are boring and a waste of time because he doesn't explain anything, he just reads straight from the powerpoint. homework can take about a whole day to complete. he uses lockdown browsers for tests, which most people fail. you pretty much have to teach yourself everything.
His lectures are alright, a little boring but informative. He really sweet and cares a lot about his students and is more than willing to help. His exams are a bit difficult but if you study and do the homework, it's not too bad.
Professor Lacey is always there to assist if you are having trouble. Make sure to do the readings or else the lectures will not be enough to grasp the material for exams. Going over the homework and writing down notes which I reread from the readings helped me for exams. Do not expect to pass by relying on class lectures alone, you need to read.
He's not terrible, but it is obvious that he's not a good prof for online. His lectures are honestly pointless, but he does try his best. The majority of the class did poorly on the exam and he curved, but it wasn't much. Lockdown, zoom, and your camera has to be at a specific angle. You have to teach yourself to pass. Good luck and please study
A lot of people say Professor Lacey is too difficult but it actually isn't that bad. Make sure you come to class for participation. I personally do not really pay attention to his lectures because I find that reading the book and studying the practice MCQ's are much more helpful for the test. He is really big at curving the tests, so study!
Very nice and cares for his students but his class was veryyy boring. He lectures and reviews homework assignments for the whole class time . Class has 3 exams total and online homework almost every week. If you don't do good on one of the exams it will be hard to come back from and pass the class so STUDY!!
This class is already pretty difficult but professor Lacey makes this class enjoyable. He's a really cool professor and he really does care for his students. This class is difficult so be prepared to practice and read a lot. I would recommend taking the SI for this class for extra help.
Not an Easy A. Work Hard, you earn it. Do the readings in advance to actually understand lectures, or else you will be clueless. Got 67% on my first midterm, actually did the readings and went to office hours, and got a 92% on the second one. Caring professor and will answer your questions.
He enjoys accounting and loves teaching it, but he's mediocre as a professor. take notes on his lectures and read the textbook and you'll be okay. you use iclickers
Great professor, really cares about his students and well versed in all things accounting. I hated the Wileyplus homework though. Homework was time consuming and difficult to follow. Lectures were great, but I recommend sitting in the front to see better.
Prof. Lacey was my favorite professor this semester by far. Accounting can be boring and very difficult, but the pacing of his lectured were great and understandable. The homework was tedious and lengthy, but it's only once a week and really makes you learn the material. In person exams, not open note. READ THE BOOK. You will not regret it.
Actually surprised I received a B in this class. His lectures were kind of boring and in my opinion didn't help me learn anything. Homework was long, hard, and tedious but you receive credit as long as you try. Highly recommend you read the text book for exams ( especially the exercise questions).
Very surprised I passed the class to begin with. His 8am lectures were a boring way to start my day. Wileyplus hw was extremely time-consuming and can take up an entire day. No makeup hw. Iclicker used for participation. Read the online book thoroughly, you CANNOT cram studying a couple days before exam. An A grade is possible if you dedicate time!
Lacey loves accounting, but isn't the best at teaching. WileyPlus assignments due every week, 2 tests and a final (not cumulative). Most of class time is dedicated to going over homework, but lectures throughout. Reading the textbook is probably the best way to do well and learn, but he also curves tests pretty hard due to low averages.
he only finishes half the lectures so you need to learn on your own most of the time. 1 of the 2 days of class will always be spent reviewing homework and you still need to go bcuz participation is taken with iclicker($50). homework every week takes about 2 hours if you understand it. i thought examswere easy but a lot of ppl fail so um... gl
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HIM! The class was awful and not a lot of people learned anything. The only good things were his curve-grade system and his office hours. His lectures are so boring and he does things the old-school way. You'll need to purchase a program to do homework (paired with the textbook) and you'll need to purchase scantrons for class.
Helped us learn the topics in different manners. Things to spend for this class is the Wiley Plus Textbook ($100), and an iClicker ($50). Great professor, just make sure to read the chapters assigned before class in order to understand what is being taught in the lectures. 2 Midterms, 1 Final (all 50 MCQ) and he also curves all three exams!
I really enjoyed Professor Lacey, he was hands down my favorite professor of the semester. However is lectures are quite boring at times, I would recommend attending at least the lectures closest to exams or chapters that you struggle with because he tells you which topics to focus on when studying. I highly recommend ATTENDING OFFICE HOURS.
I honestly really like this class. I actually switch my major to Accounting after taking this class. His lectures can be boring, but he is very helpful and clear.
He's alr.
He knows the content but he is so monotone and boring at 8am it becomes hard to understand. I ended up not showing up to lectures and just reading the chapters for the midterms and doing the practice multiple choice questions and I would get better scores than students that would show up to lecture.
Worst professor I've taken. He never taught during lectures, and what he did teach was useless. Literally, the entire class was teaching themselves through videos online and ChatGPT. If you want a class where you learn 100% of it by yourself, with no help from the professor, take this class. You will be doing 4 times the work, without any help.
Professor Lacey is very knowledgeable about what he teaches but his lectures can be dry, especially at 8 am. He appreciates attendance but only took it the first day. He does not accept late work but if you read from the Wiley textbook, do the homework on time, and study for the exams you will be fine.
I read all the chapters on my own to learn(tested us on 12 chapters). He took polls during my semester (spring 2024). Participation was 20%, midterm #1 20%, midterm #2 20%, final 20%, homework 20%. Don't know what your grade is until it's on your transcript. If you get above a 60% on your exams, take the polls, and do hw, you'll get a C at least.
Professor Lacey's ACC201 class is challenging but rewarding. The lectures can be dry, so staying engaged and reading the textbook are key. unstuck ai's practice questions really helped me prepare for the exams. With effort, you can do well.
Coming into this class I knew nothing about accounting. Although lectures are dry I do not think I would've understood that material without coming into class. If you think you won't do good better to take the SI class as well. I feel as if I did not put in much work into reading the book, but I made sure to attend class. He is knowledgable
Exclusively reads out of textbook and is lecture heavy. Take anyone else if you can.
He's really kind and teaches through story, but his lectures are still boring. His lectures only touch up on the basics of what you're going to do on the hw/exam. Doesn't give exam guides/practice, he relies HEAVILY on the book. I'm learning through self-teaching and ChatGPT. idk what my actual grade is since he doesnt show. exams are REALLY hard.
Nice enough, but it felt like self-teaching. Lectures are mostly stories and skim the surface. Exams pull from tons of chapters and are much harder than what's covered. No study guides, heavy reliance on the textbook, and grades aren't posted so you never know where you stand. Polls/homework help a bit, but expect to grind. Final is brutal overall.
