He explains everything so well, definitely one of the best teachers i have had....and hes pretty good looking!!

he is a really funny guy who makes class interesting and fun. he accepts the fact that everybody drinks thursday nights and makes fun of the people who, like him, are hung over.

He's a great guy. He writes everything you need to know, and sometimes a little more, on the board. It's a very easy class. If you just show up you'll pass and he's a really funny guy.

I can't believe I survived Calculus, but it wasn't that bad. He is a very good teacher and actually has a personality. He has control, but also keeps things on our level.

two words-Scrumptious Piece and he is a really good teacher!!lol but sometimes that doesn't matter and he also great because he has no attendence policy adn you've got to love that in a professor!

Never had him for a class but I can tell you that he helped me with some problems when my Prof was unavailable. He's a major hottie!!!! Very easy on the eyes.

He really isnt as bad as everyone is saying. It seems like he does like his boose but who doesnt. Test are a little hard though, but what should be expected from a math class.

I recommend Lattanzio to any girl who has trouble sitting through math class! He's so adorable! All the girls in my class show up just to stare at him! Just go to class,pay attention & he's always helpful if you don't understand!

This guy is the man! He's always talking about drinking which is a rarity for any teacher. No attendance policy but I would suggest going so you don't fall behind. Speaks very clearly so even those who struggle in math like me can do well in his class.

Very clear and easy to understand. I went to class just to stare at him, a REAL HOTTIE!!! I think he'd talk about math during sex though.

He is very helpful, and he actually teaches you!! He gives you extra time to learn and he is very nice!!!

he is a good teacher...just show up, I mean its math if anyone misses a Calc. class they are going to be lost. My advice go to OFFICE HOURS, he does help clarify things on the homework,which relects on the quiz...which is almost like the test. + hes cute

Went to class but dont think i had to. Hes easy. Hes spastic and a perfectionist, but hes knows his stuff. Also he loves to say 'crash' when he runs into stuff, its very entertaining. Take him.

Anyone who thinks he isnt a good teacher must just suck at math. The class was easy, and Lattanzio made it even easier. Take him if you've got the chance

He's very personable and reasonable. If you're not great at math this is the professor for you. He teaches in a manner that you can understand and never assumes you know anything before he teaches it. Seriously excellent. The homework and quizzes are pretty much the exams. He's great.

I am absolutely terrible at math. I have always struggled and for that reason i wouldnt say his class was easy...just bearable and i made it through. some people just dont get math and he understands that, just be willing to try and make sure to show up. office hours help

I'm horrible at math, but working really, really hard in his class with his help got me an A. He is pretty difficult, but a very personable guy. Always has good stories. Very easy on the eyes. Even if you are like me and have trouble adding and subtracting, I'd reccommend taking his class. He makes it more interesting than most would.

Dr L is a nice guy and clear teacher. He does teach at a fast pace so you have to pay attention. Also he grades pretty much by the numbers so don't expect some massive curve to save you. Put in the work you need to and you should pass. I suck hardcore at math and through studying hard I did manage to pass this class.

Great prof, really funny, class was interesting and well taught.

Never again. SOOO hard if you're not confident with your mathematical skills. He's a nice guy except when the whole class does terribly on his EXTREMELY DIFFICULT exams. His quizzes aren't bad and it seems like he's teaching you well, but the exams are impossible. I never got a D in my life until taking this class. I'd stay away if at all possible.

Awesome. Had him for a summer class, 2.5 hours a day. Except a 10 min break in the middle, or an occasional math-based tangent, he spent nearly every sec teaching with the aid of his helpful side kick - a frequently refilled pot of coffee. He teaches quickly and constantly, but thoroughly. Iff you can appreciate mathematics, you'll love this guy.

Goes through the material really good. Makes the material easy in class, but it seems harder on the exams. Very nice guy in and out of the classroom. If you need help with anything, he is very willing to help you out and point you in the right direction.

John is a cool guy. LOVES COFFEE, if he drops chalk he says SMASH, he ALWAYS says REMARK And RECALL for our notes, very helpful, teaches material pretty well.

Even though I failed the class he was a good teacher. MUST go to class, if you miss ANYTHING you are screwed as I found out the hard way. Def a math lover. Tests and quizzes aren't always clear as to what he wants. STUDY!! DO HOMEWORK!

GREAT Teacher. Although I failed , it was because I didnt go to class enough to understand the material. Gives 9 quizzes, 3 tests + final. Loves to teach, makes class fun with jokes, homework is not required or checked (good or bad...).

I really enjoyed his class! As long as you study for his tests and come to class you will get a decent grade. He has enthusiasm for his job which is helpful for a person who doesn't enjoy math so much...

This guy is a genius. I started this class last semester w/ another professor and had to drop it, and I'm so glad I did b/c I learned SO much more w/ Dr. L. Tests are challenging. Teaches more than what's in the book and really loves his field, which is awesome to watch. Says 'smash' when chalk breaks and 'crash' when he bumps into something. :)

I failed his class, but as far as I can tell, it wasn't because of him. Very clear and willing to teach. LOVES what he does, and that makes me want to come to class. Had a great system (over summer semester at least) by grading based on take-home quizzes instead of homework. Allows calculators on exams, a big plus. Take him!

Great guy loves his job. But class is hard, exams even worse. I studied for hours and still failed them, His grades are like no other, everything is counted, miss one sign and the entire problem there after is wrong even if all else is right! Best other luck to whom ever takes him!!

He is the most detailed math professor i have had. write everything on board that helps to follow the path. has a sense of humor that cool students down. explain from the most basic (called stupid examples) to the hardest (called impossible examples).take him if you trust in yourself and want to learn and grow. do not if you are a tourist at iup.

This is not an easy class, but he really is a great teacher. The first test I did terrible on, but the others I did better (you need to study and review, make sure you check your work, he takes points off for little things). Not a comedian, but tries to keep the mood light and not serious. Very helpful during class and office hours.

Look over all examples and notes from class. He is very clear in his work if you can follow along. Try not to sit there with a dumb look on your face, he will try to explain it if you dont understand. Enjoyed his class, if I can I will take him again, mostly because of the type of notes he gives, and try no to miss class, you will be confused.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. very funny and a very good teacher. he presents the material with plenty of examples that apply to real life. he also is very helpful

Currently taking Calculus with him for Spring 10' ,GREAT teacher, enjoys teaching, and is VERY smart,you have to go to class so you can understand whats going on,he is very willing to help you if you need it! Word to the wise, if your not willing to work hard and go to class , don't take him. Again,great teacher!!

class IS hard but lattanzio is literally the BEST math professor I have ever had. i've never been particularly good at math since i've been young, but he is such a great teacher, explains everything so clearly. i never missed a class, went to tutoring but failed every test...i came out with a C just by showing that i was trying, TAKE HIM!

Great Professor! I was scared to take calc since I never had before but he made it sooo easy! Lets you use your notes and book on an exam and the final. Def take him if you have the chance!

This guy was extremely helpful in a very hard class. He rushes and talks very fast to keep up with. But he is lenient in so many ways and wants to help you so you understand and learn it. Not just pass. I would definitely take this professor for many more classes. John is a genuine and nice guy to get to know. Take him. you'll be glad you did

Hard class, tough material. I am not a math person but he works hard to make sure you understand, out of 3 tests 1 was open book/notebook, 1 was take home and the final was open book/notebook. homework is optional and sometimes extra credit. He is always available to help! If I have to take another math class I will take him again

Dr. Lattanzio makes a really hard subject understandable. Three test...one in which you can use notes/book and another one you can take home. In addition, there are 6 quizzes...4 of the quizzes are take home. He gives a few bonus opportunities, and canceled three classes throughout the semester. Dr.L is the MAN!

Great Professor! Was dreading this class but needed it for prereq. He made a hard class easy to understand, such a great guy. He really cares about his students. Most tests are take home/open book. If you need to take this course, take him!

I've struggled in most math classes i've taken as an undergraduate. This was the first class i've taken where i felt comfortable seeking out additional help when i needed it. his lessons are straight forward and logical. great professor!

Extremely intelligent, understanding and helpful is the best way to describe Dr. Lattanzio. He is consistent with the book and extends help if needed. As with any math class, attendance is necessary to grasp the material. He is very willing to help anyone that truly cares about theta class. One of the highest rated professors in my opinion.

Good professor and great guy. He explains things well and really wants you to understand the information. He's picky about a lot of things, but I think it's just because he wants to make sure you understand. Also, very attractive.

John is a really awesome guy, even if a little too conservative for my taste. His lessons are well planned out and he is very smart-- no book is required for this class because he teaches by memory. His quizzes are straightforward, and all of his tests are open note!

the concept of linear algebra is so easy. but he tries to make it complicated. however, if you go see him, he is very helpful and is a pretty good teacher.

Linear Algebra is a hard class but he makes it fun and as easy as possible. He'l pretty funny, and swears he doesn't have OCD! He is really good at explaining the concepts. Great teacher, would definitely reccomend!

An awesome guy, keeps you laughing and loves the steelers. He lets you call him by his first name and is very laid back. Easy to follow material.

Definitely a cool guy. He cares about you're grade and is willing to help out. He explained everything thoroughly. He doesn't make homework mandatory though. Just as a heads up for 115, do it anyway. He's also pretty funny and he looks like Tim Hanks.

I would highly recommend this professor for math 115. There are three exams, around 6 quizzes, and a final. One of the exams was take home, and the final was open book and notebook. He clarifies all of the ideas, and makes jokes to lighten up the mood. The material is hard though, so you need to practice outside of class.

He's an overall great guy. He makes jokes and keeps you involved in the class. He's very helpful, and open. He always tries to help the student out. If you have the chance to take him, do it!

Great professor! The guy is super cool and really funny. You need to go to class because you will be lost if you miss. He goes into great detail with a lot of examples to help you learn. The quizzes are short and test what you just learned. The homework is not mandatory to do but i recommend doing it because the content is not exactly easy.

John is AWESOME! One of the best professors out there! Made a hard subject super easy through his superior explanations. This guy is OCD through the roof, but in a funny way! I was happy to go to each class. John is a caring, understanding, down to earth man, who I would take every semester if possible! STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY RECOMMEND!!!

I would HIGHLY recommend taking him. He made class enjoyable. His explanations are amazing. Had one take home test and quiz. The final was open notebook and book. I would take another class with him in a heartbeat. If you have the choice I strongly recommend taking any class with him! Best professor I had this semeste

Math is not a strong subject for me so I was happy that you didn't have to buy an online access code, or even really buy the book. The professor was good but I felt as though the exams were a lot more challenging than the problems practiced in class. This probably explains why 19 people failed out of 40 in the class on the first exam.....

Very funny and keeps you paying attention. If you took calculus in high school, you do not need the book. Homework is not necessary. I never used it. He does show the statistics from his tests and there were only 2 A's and over 20 F's on a couple of the tests. Quizzes are easy and one test is take home. Go if you need help to him.

He is very clear teaching calculus. He moves fairly quickly, but is willing to help and go in more in depth during office hours. Doesn't give too many opportunities to earn points other than quizzes and tests. Some are take home though. He talks really fast because he drinks way too much coffee. Try to keep up and you'll be fine.

If math isn't your best subject he is definitely the guy to choose for this course. He makes a tough subject seem not so bad. He is willing to help in anyway possible. He seems to really enjoy his job which is sadly very rare. Great guy and a great teacher!

Great teacher that gives you many opportunities to succeed. a lot of small quizzes that he tells you in advanced about. only one test was in class and the rest were take home. final was open not. ended with an A

Honestly, Lattanzio is so far my favorite professor I've ever taken at IUP. He's hilarious and a really nice guy. His lectures are very detailed and helpful if you take good notes and show up. I would highly recommend taking him if you can for a class!

John, if every professor was like John college wouldn't be so hard. He goes out of his way to help you, but you must put in the effort! Take home exam and Open note quiz and final. I failed Calc in high school. My teacher back then did not explain the material. Prof Lattanzio explains it in an amazing way. I never thought that I would be able to get a B in calc. He makes Calc fun to do, and he is there to answer any questions that you might have. He does not move fast and explains why you have to do the work that you do.

I really am awful with math and I still loves his class. It was honestly the most difficult thing I ever have done but John worked with me twice a week almost every week. He also made lectures that were about numbers not dry and boring. I will definitely take a class by him again if possible.

Really AWESOME teacher!!! You can tell he really enjoys his job and cares about his students. I struggle with math tremendously, but he explains the material in a way that makes it easier to understand. If you ask him for help he is alway very willing to work outside of class. Lattanzio is an AWESOME professor!! I was honestly scared for the fate of this class. But, he gave one exam as a take home AND made our final open notebook! Definitely can't skip if you get confused easily, but he is a GREAT teacher. I never had the urge to skip! He made the classes fly by and I would take him again in a heart beat!

Very funny and made class fly by. Explains well if you ask a question and pretty lenient. You will be behind if you skip class but that goes for most math classes. He gives frequent online homework assignments but if you take time to understand them you'll do well. I would definitely take him again.

10/10 RECOMMEND! Notes are straight forward. Cares for students. Homework & online textbook are online via WebAssign. Lots of homework but helpful for quizzes & exams. Usually doesn't respond to emails very fast. Be prepared for jokes & the occasional political chats. Only reason I got a D grade if b/c I slept through the final, don't do that:)

Great Professor, gave great lectures and easy to understand. I struggled a little with his final but I would definitely have him again.

He was very good at explaining the material and spends a lot of time doing multiple examples to make sure everyone understands. He gives very thorough notes that are helpful for the homework and tests. The exams were cumulative but there were no surprises.

A solid choice for any class. This is my second class with this professor and just like the first time it was smooth sailing. He really cares about helping his students to learn and succeed while keeping the work load light and manageable. Also a pretty funny guy, would absolutely recommend.

Coming into college, I was scared to take a math course. Dr. Lattanzio from day one was always clear with what he had to say. Whenever help is needed, you can always ask him. He is an approachable, caring, and understanding person. I finished with an A, and would highly recommend!

He is a very good professor and lectures well. However your grade in the class is determined on how well you take notes. There are no textbooks for the class and you can't find it anywhere online either. However you are allowed to use a cheat sheet on exams and he is very good at explaining.

Dr. Lattanzio is a breath of fresh air in the math department. He has a computer science background, which helps in a computer science-oriented math class! We were able to use a cheat sheet and/or our notes for each exam, which made the class easy. Take JJL if you get the chance!

John's a really good guy. Not only is he so likable, but he's very easy to work with. If you're struggling, he will help. However he does expect you to participate and genuinely try. He gave our class the "never in my 30 years of teaching have I have a test this bad speech," however I believe most of the students were able bring their grades up.

I've never been able to understand math as well as I did learning it from Dr. Lattanzio. His lectures are entertaining, very easy to follow and to take notes from. There are extra credit opportunities later in the semester. He clearly cares about his students and gets back to you quickly. I found myself looking forward to going to his class. 10/10

Dr. Lattanzio was an amazing professor. He has a very good sense of humor and his personality is great. This class was challenging but it was very interesting. His lectures were packed full of information but he was easy to follow. He is strict with his formatting on his home works and tests, but other than that I highly recommend him

Dr. Lattanzio is easily one of the greatest professors, especially in the math department. His teaching is very clear and while attendance is not mandatory, be sure to show up or you will miss significant notes. He gives opportunity for some extra credit throughout the semester, though not enough to rely on alone for a grade. Definitely recommend.

Classes are fun, and you learn a lot. He's very caring and loves to make mistakes to ensure you pay attention, and tries to catch them. He appreciates it. Go to the class and ask questions if you are confused, and you will pass the class and learn a ton.
