He is a very fun person and you can tell he genuinely wants to be a professor and help his students. However, exams were extremely hard and had questions that were not gone over during class. The power points are not posted prior to class and there is no exam review or study guide. Very difficult, but he is fun!

He is by far one of the best professors i have had at gvsu. He is there to help you learn and is very willing to help. His exams are hard, but if you read, pay attention in class and ask questions you will be fine. I had my doubts at first since he hasn't had prior experience teaching but he turned out to be an extremely pleasent suprise! This teacher is awesome. He is a bit difficult but I think it's due to him still figuring this whole teaching thing out. Take him and you won't regret it, he's a really great teacher.

At first, I was not the biggest fan of this class, but Prof. Lipford is a really nice guy. He did a good job. His tests were kinda tough (some questions were straight from his law school exams) but he also teaches a lot from the book. So if you go over his powerpoints (which are detailed) and read the book, you'll be fine! I'd suggest him.

I was afraid this class would be boring, but Lipford managed to make it fun to the point where everyone wanted to participate. Lipford's powerpoints were good. Make sure to follow the book. The tests were hard, but go to class and you should be fine. I suggest taking Lipford. If i could take him in another class i would!!

Professor Lipford is an awesome professor. I did have considerable interest in this course prior to taking it and Prof Lipford made it really fun and exciting!

Lipford seems a lot more secure in his position then before. He makes law interesting with his humor and drills into you what is essential for life. He gave us a review for our exams though I hear he usually doesn't. Exams are pretty difficult but pay attention and ask questions.

This was my first GVSU course and wasn't really sure what to expect. Lipford was incredible! He made the subject more interesting and answered questions we had towards real life situations. Would highly recommend him to others, I actually have another class with him in the fall and I can't wait!

Professor Lipford was great! He made law interesting and gave advice on legal issues. His tests were somewhat hard but if you showed up for class and read the book you will do fine. He is very helpful and will answer any questions you have on the subject. I have him next semester for human resources and I am excited. I would highly recommend him!

Professor Lipford made our HR class fun and exciting everyday! He really loves what he's teaching and his enthusiastic personality shows even when the work may be a tad boring. His class has easy to follow powerpoints that are a life-saver on his exams, and although he recommends it, I have yet to open my book and have a good grade in the class. :)

Lipford made hospitality law more than bearable. Topics and subject matter that is generally difficult to grasp was simplified and I will leave the class feeling confident in the hospitality industry as a professional (while avoiding litigation). Professor Lipford used to be a practicing attorney, but has made a great transition into his teaching career. He works well with students and really does what he can to ensure that the material is understood. Sometimes his exams can be a little lengthy, but he gives the essay questions beforehand so you can get the answer down pat. Recommend 100%!!

Professor Lipford is very dedicated to his students. He is always available outside of class for help and very willing to help, as well. He provides great interaction in his classes such as watching YouTube videos, episodes of the Office, and other group activities. Overall, you will learn a lot in this class as well as have a ton of fun.

I have taken him before and I would take him again if I could. He made HR interesting with videos and The Office. A great guy, hes very committed to his students. His test and assignments are a lot of work but he is very helpful. Study and you will do fine. I took him as a SWS and it's not that difficult. A few short and two long papers. Take him!

Professor Lipford is one of my favorite professors I have taken. He makes Human Resources interesting with real life examples to watching Youtube and the Office. He is quick at replies in emails and he is always available to help. If you have to take this class or HTM 361 take him hands down! You will not regret it!

Lipford was easily one of my favorite professors! I would highly recommend him to anyone! I nervous to take a law class but learned a ton of things I know I will use in real life situations. Lipford is very knowledgeable with what he teaches and it definitely shows. Go to class, pay attention and participate in discussions and you will get a good grade. Law is law so its tough to memorize, but put in the time and you'll do just fine! He always resembles Ruxin from the show "The League"

The only problem with Lipford is that he doesn't teach more classes. I have taken both classes that he teaches and enjoyed them both. They are not easy A classes but we always have a good time. He is one of the easiest profs to talk to. He is GOOD PEOPLE!

Professor Lipford is knowledgable and passionate about the subject. He used real life examples to get the students engaged, as opposed to just lecturing the whole class period. There are some assignments throughout the semester but they aren't overly difficult. I didn't buy the book and just relied on his power points and lectures.

I can't say enough good things about this professor. I've actually not done one of these reviews until I took him, because he was that great. I had a personal event happen during the semester, and he was so accommodating in letting me adjust a few of my due dates. We watch the office regularly in class, which actually helped a lot in learning.

Lipford. really cool, really funny guy. His exams are really difficult but he also helps you out with a few extra credit things and he grades fairly easy on most other things. He is without a doubt the best educator I've ever had. He is so genuinely kind and truly wants to help you succeed. Overall, he is someone that makes you want to be be a better person. He made both HTM 361 and 343 so interesting and my favorite courses at GV. He is also hilarious and makes class fun. Study guides are VERY helpful/clear. TAKE HIM!

Offers a ton of guidance before each exam so you know exactly what to study for. Also offers extra credit!! Honestly looked forward to this class every morning.

He is an awesome professor. I definitely recommend taking him in any class you can take him for. HTM 343 is SWS so there is a paper and a group project, but both are reasonable. He is an easy grader and it's very easy to pay attention because he keeps his students engaged. You watch the office and he relates it to the topics discussed in class.

He was an excellent professor! On the first day of class he "warned" us about taking both of his classes in the same semester, so I was worried. But it turned out to be more than manageable as he was super helpful. The class is tough and he knows that so he makes it as simple as possible. Study hard and you will do well.

HTM 343 is such a fun class with Professor Lipford. He makes lectures enjoyable by incorporating episodes of the office. He makes you work hard on the exams and papers, but if you show up to class and listen you will end up with a good grade. Best professor at Grand Valley.

Lipford had fun assignments and great interactive techniques, however I would NOT recommend taking this course over the summer online. It is very time constraining and the final is ridiculous (which is an understatement). I think that this course would be much better during the academic year, but it was the worst to complete during the summer.

three words. Study, study, study. For the midterm and final exam, he told us what material was on it and gave us a study guide. However, there were 4 essay questions, each had to be more than a page long, and 50 multiple choice questions that we had to complete in 2 hours. he is very understanding so come up to him for help.

Professor Lipford is one of the best professors I have had. It was his first time teaching HTM 368 (geotourism) and it was one of my favorite classes I have taken. He makes coming to class entertaining and pushes new topics that aren't always talked about. Take him and take this class if you can!

This class has a lot of information in it, however, professor Lipford does a good job presenting the material in a way that makes sense and does not make it feel overwhelming. You do one big reflection paper and one big group project. Nothing in the class is extremely difficult as long as you keep up with the information and study!

Weekly readings, participation, weekly journals basically sum up the class. This class is extremely work heavy so be prepared. Instead of a final exam there is a final essay and some group projects throughout the course. However, Lipford is such an amazing professor and I did learn a lot! If you work hard you will get a good grade for sure.
