Very willing to help you understand subject matter if you just ask. Can be very very funny at times despite his quiet demeanor. Drops lowest exam score. Show up, follow along with the power points to fill in the blank spaces, and then study those. You will pass if you just study the things on the power points and do the reading summary assignments.

I really enjoy taking this class. His Power-points are very unique and funny, his quiz are hard if you do not read the PowerPoint prior to class, and his assignment are group. The exam are hard if you don't study the PowerPoint.

I loved Lytle's class! Just study your notes and you will pass. Final was all of the semesters notes, so make sure you go over everything-I didn't and got a B :(. I had him for an 8am class and its one of the classes that even if I wanted to skip I wouldn't because I liked going to learn his lessons-he also gives pop quizzes xD. Bio was great!

John Lytle is a great professor definitely one of my favorites. very clear always will to help. The tests are based off his lecture notes but he gives study guides. the only hard thing are his quizes but as long as you do the study guides off his notes you should be good.

Class consists of numerous quizzes, mastering biology homework, 3 tests(drops your lowest test score) and a final - all Multiple choice. Quizzes are very difficult so you have to study. Notes are fill in the blank. Lectures are sometimes interesting but mostly dull. Average class. Professor is helpful and you will learn a lot in this class.

Prof Lytle does what he can to help his students pass. He drops your lowest quiz and exam score which helps a lot! Lectures are posted online but fill in the blank and he has a lot of pop quizzes which are difficult so show up to class and study all the time. Spend about 20 hours on the study guide for each test. Final is cumulative. 56% is a D.

The class consisted of pop up quizzes once a week, 3 exams and a final and online homework which is due at the end of the semester ( it allows you to keep trying until you get 100%). It is a lot of information however His lectures are interesting and easy to understand. He provides the notes (quizzes and exam are all based on the notes )

There is a lot of studying but his study guides are extremely helpful. Hate that final is cumulative but just study a lot. Miss class and you wont get the complete notes on blackboard. He drops one exam. Homework has nothing to do with exams its annoying but easy points first one took over an hour. Study sessions help

This class wasn't very difficult. I showed up to class everyday, took notes (fill in the blank from what he posts online), and I got the online homework done. If you show up and listen to the lectures, it is easy. There are also a lot of resources for people who struggle. The professor was awkward but still funny. Overall, it was interesting.

Probably one of the best professors I've had so far in college. He's passionate about what he teaches and teaches in a way to help make his students more interested about their studies. Class is generally easy, just lectures no projects or anything. You have to be in class for the unexpected pop quizes given once a week. Hw is easy and all online.

The only surprises youll get are the pop quizzes once a week. Hell cover all the material that will be on his multiple choice exams, so you wont have any surprises there. Really nice guy!! Soft spoken, so try to get a front seat. I learned a lot, so study hard and youll get an A.

Overall, Lytle is a good professor. His lectures are most of the time boring, but every now and then he has something funny or interesting on his power points. If you ask for help he is there for you. Very nice person. Pop quizzes are hard if you do not study the lectures. If you take notes and study from them you should do fine.

Do take his class, if you want to pass BiO1010. He's one of the few professors that is straight forwards on what to expect on his test. Beware of pop quiz. He's helpful if you ask him about the subject that you don't understand.

Dr. Lytle is an exceptional professor who has excellent expertise in the field of biology and evolution. In order to have success in BIOL 3020, the student must be self-motivated and take responsibility for his grades. The class is not easy, obviously its biology, but it is fair.

I recommend this class and this teacher especially if you are taking the class for general education requirement because he makes the class fun and interesting.

He is extremely knowledgeable and made learning about evolution really interesting. His power points are hilarious, and he has a lot of video snipets to keep you awake. Print out the notes, and fill in your study guide during lectures instead of the night before and you'll pass no problem.

Show up for the iclicker quizzes. Reading the previous power points will improve your performance for those quizzes (and overall). He gives extra credit questions on the iclicker quizzes. His exams are curved. He knocks off one of the midterms 3. Bio is tough for me but hes good and makes it entertaining. The best bio professor option. Bio 1010

Lectures everyday but the material is easy to learn as long as you review. Does a good job of explaining the information in non-science terms so you understand it better. Gives random little quizzes on clickers that are not hard, again if you review the material. Exams are similar to the quizzes in terms of type of questions. Pretty easy to pass

He is a really great professor. He explains things in a most easiest and simplest way that all of his students can understand. He takes pop quizzes which are basic terminology questions that are MC if you pay attention to his lectures you will be fine. He did lots of example videos that were very interesting. He doesn't OVER TALKS like some profess

He is the best evolution professor here at the Stan state. He explains things in a most easiest way that all of his students could understand. He never over talks endlessly like some other professors.... he is easy to approach and understands students' problems. If you pay attention to his lectures and understand them you should be in a great shape

Going to lectures is the key to success with Professor Lytle. He is willing to explain anything you have trouble understanding and gives pop quizzes on recently covered material. Is slow to grade things so be patient and the tests are difficult if you don't go over the lecture slides. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK. He provides everything in the lecture.

Mr. Lytle is a bit quirky but good overall. His lectures are straightforward and the exams are fair. The textbook was never used, just go to class and take notes on the slides. Especially anything that fills in the blank.

Dr. Lytle makes Evolution interesting, relatable, and doable. If you need to take evolution and you're scared of all the other teachers, Lytle is the way to go. He gives 8-10 iclicker pop quizes, 3 exams plus a final, a few in class group projects, and 1 research review paper. Everything is multiple choice. He asks conceptual questions.

Dr. Lytle is awesome! Doesn't require textbook, just an iClicker for the 10 pop up quizzes. His quizzes/exams are fair, given that study guides are provided and the tests are from his lectures. I thought Dr. Lytle was hilarious so it makes BIOL3020 a fun experience to knock out an upper G.E. class. You'll do fine as long as you go to class! )

I do not usually write reviews, however I am for Dr. Lytle. His lectures are fair and easy to follow. He keeps the class fun and entertaining. His teaching methodology is a lot better compared to others. There are videos and assignments but all relating to class and are quite interesting. I would definitely recommend him!

Dr. Lytle is the best evolution lecturer in the department right now. His lectures are not confusing like other evolution professors in the department such as schoenlys and coopers. He enhances his students understanding of evolution in a variety of ways. All of his assignments are designed for his students to succeed in the field of evolution.

PPTs are provided online and you fill in the blanks during lecture Exams are a bit tricky/tough but all of it is from his lecture A quiz probably once a week. Easy to talk to and will explain anything you do not understand WITHOUT making you feel stupid. Makes funny jokes once in a while and funny slides on his ppt here and there.

Took his bio class over winter session even though it was short he lays out the lectures pretty well. Dont need a textbook, all the quizzes and tests come from lecture. If you show up, pay attention and do some studying theres no reason why you cant get a good grade. Def would take his class in the future if I have the chance.

This class was not too difficult at all. His powerpoint and lectures were very clear making his multiple choice exams pretty straight forward, all just memorization. Not very much homework and did not use the textbook once. Beware he does not take attendance but he has pop quizzes very often. Also in my class he dropped the lowest exam score, Cool!

Hard course if you dont show up. Once a week theres a clicker quiz but he always gives extra credit questions so its easy. Three exams, he drops the worst one. Lectures are nice, he shows quirky things. Large class so its hard to ask questions and talk to him. Easy if you print out the study guides and try.

Recommend him for bio 1010. It was really easy just study the notes he gives and take the extra credit if he offers. it will help in the long run

Funny Professor and an honestly easy class if you're willing to put in the work. He gives you all the notes and the homework is LITERALLY impossible to fail. He has cheesy jokes that help wake up the class and he even brings in Tarantulas sometimes. Quizzes are exactly what he lectures on so there are no real surprises besides the day it's on.

A really quirky and cute dude, personality-wise. I have total respect for this guy, he's caring and encouraging to students. Material and grading scheme is clear; lecture recordings, notes, slides are all posted online. Tests are multiple-choice, straightforward, and humorous. Online homework is pretty easy, too!

Attendance is not mandatory, but skipping a day you can miss a whole chapter. He's a great professor but you have to put in the time to study or you'll be lost. There's tutoring sessions that really help and he drops the lowest exam and quiz. All the homework is online and not due toward the end of the semester.

Dr. Lytle is a good professor but his intro to evolution class was HARD. His lectures are long and he goes through them very fast. Luckily, the notes are online. In total you take 4 test including the final and 10 quizzes. Dr. Lytle does drop the worse scores from each. I would recommend taking his class only if you have a good knowledge of bio.

Honestly a great biology professor. Grading is clear from the start, all homework is online and due at the end of the semester so you get to work at your own pace. John is probably one of the if not the most wholesome professor I've ever had at Stanislaus. Tl;Dr he is really easy to follow and very enthusiastic about what he is teaching. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he has clicker pop quizzes that are only accessible if you're there. Online homework is easy, all around good class.

He peppers his lectures with nerdy jokes, and his personality is adorable. Overall, he creates a friendly classroom atmosphere which makes a difficult subject approachable.

He posts the classes online, which is super helpful if you didn't grasp a concept in class, you can rewatch it at home.

Dr. Lytle is an excellent instructor in Introduction to Evolution. His class consists of lectures nearly every day, minus the (few) days involving a class activity. There are around nine quizzes that are done via clicker and four tests (three midterms and a final). Only a few homework assignments. Overall, great instructor w/ lovely personality.

Asynchronous online class, all the hw and quizzes are due at the end of the sester, all lectures were pre recorded. You pretty much learn on your own & It's easy to fall behind. He has zoom office hours and is easy to reach for questions. Other than that it 's not too bad.

I took this professor for Fall 2021 for my Gen Biol 2 Class. His class was asynchronous which is fully online. He class was based off of 10 weekly quizzes, 4 exams and the lab which counts as 25% grade. If you take good notes from his lectures, you'll definitely pass. His questions were based off of his lecture videos. I recommend him.

This class was pretty easy, quizzes on Sundays about 11 questions. You have about 3 exams and then the final. Hardly no homework just watching lecture videos in order to do exams.

As long as you get into a group that is willing to work together, this class will be easy. He allows groups to pick their own biological topic to study and then has discussions based on these topics. Overall, you will end up learning a lot of cool new things in Lytle's class.

I loved this class. Lytle was available outside of class and gave great and fast feedback. The only qualm I had was the group paper, solely for the fact that some classmates do the bare minimum and all of the work fell on me. However, if you have issues, Lytle is very understanding and his grading appropriately reflects that.

I took this as a condensed summer class. His lectures are long but he provides an outline that helps you stay on focused in them. 3 discussions assignments, 4 video responses, 3 quizzes and 2 exams and that's the class, don't know how it is for spring/fall terms though. Easy enough, everything you need for quiz/exams is in the lecture.

Honestly it was a great teacher!! Just gotta pay attention and take all the NOTES hommie and also the tests were easy!!

The movie assignments were LONG and were the only assignments I didn't like. Should have been worth 10 points at least not 5. Great professor for bio though.

Overall, the class was straightforward and easy to understand. The class course included participation in discussions, recorded lectures, and video assignments. There were not too many quizzes, only a few throughout the semester. Additionally, there were two exams and a final to assess our understanding of the material.

I had Professor Lytle for Intro. to Evo., and it was a challenging class, but in a good way. You don't have many assignments, and you have a few quizzes and 3 exams (Including the Final). Show up to class, take notes on the lectures, and you'll pass easily.

Took it online, he required you to be at the first zoom and then it wasn't mandatory. He always had office hours and was available if you needed any help. Class is very chill, just respond to a discussion or 2 a week and you will succeed. You need to choose an article based off of a topic you chose. I had a good group and learned alot this semester

He was awesome for letting me into the class when I was waitlisted. Main issue is communicating with group members that lack motivation to do the group project on. This isn't your typical Bio class more so an English class combined with Bio. Project is 15+ pages, this class is doable to pass. Worst case scenario I might end up getting a B.
