His exams are difficult and tricky. I studied all the notes and still managed to fail his exam. Its one of those exams where u have to pick the best choice and the best choices are so similar.

Maiello's exams are hard. He is a good lecturer but his exams are just not as clear as people say. I do not believe you have to study the notes to get an A on his exam b/c that is not true. You really have to know the material.

study what he tells you to study...hard to get an A, but B is good too. Just do well on the labs...they'll pull you up a full grade!!

Explains the material very well and is easy to understand

Lectures are very clear. It's all in Layman's terms. The trick to his exam is study his notes and listen attentively to what he tells you in the review session. Overall, I would considered him to be one of the best instructor in Rutgers Newark.

Maiello is the sweetest thing since sugar. YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS! Listen to lecture study notes and you will pass. The exams are not easy if you dont study but if you listen and take good notes you should do fine.

he is alright. the entire test is based on the notes. the majority of the exams are very straight forward, except for 5 or 6 hard questions that were not discussed in lecture. pay attention in class, and take great notes and you will do fine. he is really interested in what he does.

I think he is a very good professor. His notes are very clear and he doesn't complicate things. He tells you exactly what u need to know from the book. As long as u study and know the material, you'll be fine..definitely easier than Morrison. he makes the class interesting somewhat interesting.

Great teacher! Makes BIO interesting and gives exam straight from notes (unlike SOME people named Morrison). Really nice and makes info clear so everyone can understand, not just bio majors. Understands we have other classes and not all bio majors.

Pretty easy, his exams are straight from his lectures no tricks straight to the point.....Just pay attention and take notes. Class never lasts the whole period....

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PROFESSOR GET SO INTO A LECTURE. HE REALLY ENJOYS WHAT HE DOES BUT WATCH OUT FOR HE'S EXAMS, THEY COULD BE A LITTLE TRICKY.IF YOU WANT TO MAKE HIM HAPPY, DON'T TALK DURING LECTURE AND MAKE SURE THAT BEFORE THE EXAM YOU WRITE DOWN QUESTIONS FOR HIS REVIEW.

Of all the professors that I've had at R-N, Maiello's the best. He's very interested in what he teaches and makes his students actually understand the material. When he says that the exams are based on his lectures, he's definitely not lying. I'd recommend him to ANYONE, even non bio majors. Too bad he doesn't teach all of bio 101 and 102.

He was pretty much straight forward with his lectures. There were no powerpoints or handouts. He was opposite to Dr. Morrison in the way he conducted class, but just as great. He based his test straight from his notes. If you write down everything he says and make sense of it, you'll be fine.

I took Dr.M back in 1985!!! He was the BEST prof I had in all of college and grad school. Today I am a PhD biology professor myself and I owe so much of my success to him. He was my advisor at R-N. Best of the Best!!!

Based the first exam exclusively on his lecture notes and information on the website. The exam was not too bad if you make sense out of the notes.

This guy rocks! I really understood the material well from him. He makes hard topics easy to understand, so even if yur not a bio major, u still understand. Love how he relates stuff in life to the material, definitely awesome. Reading the book can help u just make the knowledge u have more solid, but if u wanna pass, his notes r good enuff.

I really liked Dr. Maiello's teaching style. His exam was very straight forward and based on his notes. I wished he taught the whole semester, and not just 1/3 of it. I did well on his exam, but not too well on Caffrey's exam.

a great professor!! can actually keep you interested during the whole lecture. exams are no surprise. he tells you what you should go over. and you need to go to class and listen to lecture, you dont really need the book

He explains everything pretty well and if there is something that is unclear he normally tries to let the class out a few minutes early so that you can ask him any questions yourself. His method of teaching will keep you awake too.

ILOVE Dr. Maiello! He always eneded classes early,&got right 2 the point in his lectures. He doesn't give out powerpoints, or"complete" notes online. If you plan 2 do good on his test, then i recommend that ugo to each one of his lectures. I promise you that you won't be bored. His lectures make u love science. OH! & take good notes! i got an A =)

He's a good teacher, tries to explain everything in an easy manner, and he lets you out about 20 min early. His 2 sections in Bio 101&102 are pretty hard, and boring..but take good notes and you should do fine.

Good prof especially at lectures. Material very hard and boring but he makes it somehow interesting. His exam was extremely difficult, the average of all classes was below 70 (failing grade) suitable for Bio majors only. I regret I've ever taken this course, too much work without any reward.

pretty good teacher but teaches some complicated topics so its easy to get confused,clear explanation very nice teacher if you read the instructions on his test he gives the answer to one of the questions. i got the lowest grade on his test but if you study and pay attention in lecture u should do fine

Good Person but tough test

the material presented in both Bio 101 and 102 is difficult but if you attend class and take notes you'll be fine. Attendance is not mandatory but it WILL HELP with your grade. He's pretty straightforward and will explain the material over and over if you dont understand.

great professor but his exams can be tricky. he is def the better of the other 2 bio professors. he gets really into it so it will get you into it. take good notes and study study study and you'll do well. he also clarifies if you need it. very fair professor overall

this guy was awesome.. i did not like plants whatsoever but he somehow made it seem so interesting.. he talks a bit fast, so take good notes.. he reflects EVERYTHING off HIS NOTES ... not much is required from the book unless he mentions it.. and remember ALWAYS TO READ HIS DIRECTIONS!! i would take him again any day!

Best bio professor. All you have to do is attend the classes and pay attention and you will get an A.

His lectures can get boring but he explains the material well...if you take good notes you will do fine...prepares class well for exam n they are not hard (multipule choice)...though i suggest reading material b4 lecture for better understanding (may get lost)

He's a very entertaining and compelling professor. His lectures are quite good, but his test is a little tricky. While Morrison and Frischmann ask you straight-forward questions, Maiello seems to try to trick you, which is silly at the university level. All in all though, you should be able to get a B by studying your notes from lecture only.

he is definitly better than morrison and frischmann. he is very clear and gets straight to the point. He gets really into what he is teaching so you will too. I didnt like plants but he made it so clear and now thats the only thing that i still remember from bio 101. His test was a joke...Definitly take him

THE BEST general biology professor. He turned material that made me fail high school biology into an A on his exam. I am taking mycology just to have him as a professor again for my biology major. Go to lecture and write down EVERYTHING he says and you should get an A on his exam. If he is an option for you as a professor take him!

Dr. Maiello is a very nice professor. He is clear as crystal. When it comes to the exam, he is straight forward. HOWEVER, do not underestimate him; some of his questions may get trickier that Dr. Morrison's, especially when it comes to find the # of Co2s and ATPs,etc., so be aware.Overall,he is funny,he's full of energy and he is a great profesor!!

One of the best lecturers you are ever likely to have. Unfortunately in Bio 101 you will only have him for 1/3 of the course. Still, his lectures should be interesting to anyone who has even the slightest interest in the material.

Very nice and helpful! textbook not needed, don't go to class unless you want to. Speak in class and he will yell at you. Tests are fair, but he tricks you by giving multiple correct answers and telling you to select "the best"

Had him in BIO 101 before, for 1/3 of the class. Although he's upbeat, there are times when talks too fast, which might make you not keep up with what he is saying. He doesn't use Powerpoint with his lectures at all. His exam is a little tricky. He also puts people "on the spot" when they decide to "run their own lecture" with somebody else.

I LOVED Dr. Maiello! He's not a "powerpoint professor,” which I appreciate, and he supplements his material with a ton of diagrams and examples! Very animated and enthusiastic about teaching, amazing!

Dr. Maiello is a great professor! The material can be a bit daunting for a college Freshman, but he knows what he is talking about and has fair tests. His Exams come entirely from his notes, so even though attendance is not mandatory, you don't want to miss class. Study the notes, and you can ace his exams.

Dr.Maiello was a great professor! Really knew what he was talking about and was very engaged in his lectures. He really broke the info down for you to really get you to understand. He's a bit corny but helpful! You should def attend his lecture bc he really clarifies everything! I got a 96 on my exam for him! He is the best one out of them all.

Dr. Maiello is a great professor!!! Though the class has an immense amount of students, his teaching methods make you feel as if you are the only one in the room. He is an expert on his subject and if you study good notes you will ace the exam. He even posts in depth notes online for you if you don't attend his lecture!

Dr. Maiello is fun and easy. He makes his lectures so simple that it's even on the exams word for word. Better than Morrison, he would help boost your grade definitely
