If you plan on taking this class anytime in the summer make sure you have time to do the assignments. WE had 4 major essays to do every week and we got a few days to do them so definitely stay on your game. Other than that this class is pretty simply and all the notes are from the book.

Take this professor in the summer, He's easy but you have to make sure to save sometime for his assignment. One month is too short for all the assignments that he gave.Overall, you should take him in the full semester.

make sure that you attend to his class bc he helps you narrow down wat and wat not to study, instead of reading the whole book. Believe me, those note would be very helpful for final exam. As long as you show up for class he literally has all the questions for the quizez and exams in the notes(ppt), If you show up and just take the notes you will probably get a A or B.

He was a great teacher and had examples about what the paper would be like and what we had to do to make them better. Another thing that was helpful was when we did presentations.

Very easy class as long as you keep up with the homework assignments and essays. I took it this summer and it's a quick moving class but he's very flexible and allows for most of the homework assignments to be turned in late for full credit

This class was excruciatingly easy. Whenever we would peer edit papers; I would read some of the atrocious essays people would try and submit, frankly if they could pass anyone could. Mr. Mammen was not my favorite, he would assign middle school level assignments that were absolutely pointless. He drove me nuts, but the class is an easy A.

This is a really easy class, very friendly and helpful instructor. The only thing I would change is making it a little more challenging. It's important to get students excited about writing. A huge part of this is getting students involved in each others stories. This class is on its way to being a little more personal, but still getting there.

This class is not hard as long as you do the work. You do need to have the textbooks, you have assignments in it almost everyday. He is very flexible with due dates when it comes to work schedules or personal issues as long as you talk to him about them. If you need to have an English two class his is the one to take.

The learning style of the professor was very clear and comprehensive. There are many book assignments, but there is not an assignment that cannot be fully accomplished. For most assignments the professor requires that work be submitted that same day before midnight, but most of the assignment can be done before the class period is over.

I enjoyed the class. He is flexible and willing to work out with you if you miss the assignment

The class is easy if you keep up with the work. However, unlike most classes you will have homework that was assigned that day due that night nearly every class (not convenient for those who work after class) and all assignments are due online and often times on days you don't have class, rather than the following class period.

To my unfortunate surprise this was basically an internet based class. So if you wish to avoid internet classes do not take this class. Almost all assignments are due the night of assignment which can be very awkward if you have a job after class. Overall the class is easy. Would I recommend this teacher to anyone?Perhaps as a second choice hes Ok.

I took Mr. Mammen for both English 1301 and 1302. I really enjoyed his class. All assignments are from the book, so the book is necessary for the class. Bottom line: make an effort by showing up to class, doing the classwork, and submitting papers on time and you'll be fine.

He is really good professor. An easy A. One advice to get >90 on each paper is get them checked by tutoring person and get the proof from him as a slip. Submit this slip too to prof when you submit your paper. You will not only get good grade but it will also consider as a extra credit.

I generally HATE English, but Professor Mammen made it easy to understand and bearable.

The class is 2 hours, so the first hour or so is usually powerpoint lecture on the text book, and the rest of the class is usually some sort of writing assignment or other activity. Slightly boring sometimes, but def a great class. You wouldn't think it at first, but Prof. Mammen is actually kind of hilarious. You'll like this class!

Professor Mammen is one of the BEST English teachers at Brookhaven. English is my worst subject, and he made me kind of not hate it for a few weeks. The assignments are clear, and he is very helpful.
