Hard class but you learn alot. Funny guy, but won't tolerate absences or late work. Participation is a huge grade, and the papers are hard. Worth it if you'll do the work

Nice guy, grades hard, but they really try to kill you in Business Org/Leadership from what I have heard, so I am pretty sure the other professors grade just as hard. He's a young lawyer, so he's pretty well spoken and presents the material well.

He's one of the best I've had. He is a straight shooter, very witty and sarcastic. He's almost never serious and uses a lot of self-depracating humor. The final project was an amazing experience, and homework is just reading a few pages per week. A+++

I didn't really care for McCoy as a person very full of himself and cocky...A very hard grader, if you get the chance to take an easier grader I would.

The ones that says he picks favorites, its true ,but he isnt a jerk at all. He likes students that talk. The whole point of SOM101 is to gain leadership skills. So for the student who left that comment, he/she probably got a bad grade because he/she didnt speak up, or attend so he/she is just sour.

professor mccoy is awesome.. he is so funny in class, always making jokes to keep the class lively. the papers can be a little stressful, but he is not that tough of a grader if he knows you tried. Great class.

Great guy, great class. No papers for this class, just midterm and final. Went to every class and enjoyed it. He may be cocky, but he is hilarious (and hot).

He's probably the most fair professor at Suffolk. I didn't like him at first cuz he's cocky, but he's alright. If you get a 'C' in an assignment, you probably deserved it; vice versa for 'A' papers. His class isn't a breeze, so you'd have to work for an 'A'. My last impression is that he's a pretty cool guy.

I don't know why people complain about McCoy. He is very cocky, but he has his reasons. He is so knowledgeable about business and his stories and comments are wicked funny. If you don't read and don't participate, you should hate this class. By far, the best professor I've ever had.

Best Professor for SOM101 AND B.LAW 214! CLEAR, SARCASTIC AT TIMES, BUT GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR. TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT A GOOD GRADE, PARTICIPATE AND YOU WILL DO FINE.

McCoy is a great teacher, all you do in this class is read selected cases from the book which you need. In order to get an A just read the cases and have some input during class.

He is a great teacher, doesn't require much homework besides reading which is good. He loves to discuss anything in class and gets everyone involved. If you like discussion oriented classes this is perfect. All and all a great class and great professor.

McCoy is a very good teacher. I went to every class, because i wanted to. Assignments are sparse and easy. The final project was an awesome experience. Learned alot about both Management AND the real world. Class FLEW by! I would highly reccomend taking him as a teacher. Probably my favorite prof. yet.

McCoy was the greatest! I loved his class, even though SU101 in general is the absolute most pointless class ever. But McCoy was cool and I really enjoyed having him. Would recommend him to anyone, and I'd love to take another class with him.

Fantastic professor! Really makes an effort to get the class involved. Trys his hardest to get through to students who otherwise wouldnt give a damn. Doesnt take any**** though. Learned a lot from McCoy its too bad hes not going to teach anymore.

didn't liked him at all. def. had favorites in the class and tries too hard to be funny. some stories/jokes were but many just came off as rude and ignorant. but when he actually lectures and focus into topics, they were clear and used real life experiences as examples. other than that, i don't think i'd take another class with him

I would recommend him he is funny and a easy grader. If you participate you will get an A. You will actually learn something if you take his class and I recommend taking his Ethics class too.

This professor made possibley the most uninteresting subject (business law) fun. I take his class later at night and every night every one shows up because he is that great. He goes over the material in a conversational and hilarious way that makes you want to learn. Take him. Take every class he teaches.

I loved him! i am international and i get what people say about him and being international but still! he made 8:30 classes great and I am even taking another class with him next semester! Love him as a professor and lawyer!

The greatest person ever. He is so funny and makes learning business foundations fun. SO lucky I got his as a freshman. I will try to take ever course he has to offer. Participate and he will love you, just be prepared to have all you answers shut down

McCoy is the man! He is a lawyer so clearly a BLE class with him is fantastic. He pulls from his own life experiences and stories and teaches concepts through those. Exams are all over the place though but will test your true understanding of concepts. He is also a fantastic person to have on your side (hint hint internships!!!)

McCoy is one of the best Professors at Suffolk. He expects students to do the work he assigns and discuss the material in class. If you do the work and participate his classes are entertaining and fun.

Participation matters; I got A's on all of his exams, homework assignments, and essays but got a B+ because I barely spoke in class. Makes crude jokes about race, ethnicity, and stereotypes which can come off as offensive. If you can stomach his "jokes" the class is really interesting. He knows what he's talking about and I really learned a lot.

Prof. McCoy is really funny! He may seem very scatter-brained, but it's in a good place. He cannot help himself to make jokes - it helps with the lectures. He is an entrepreneur at heart and gives really good feedback and does not hold his punches! He really cares about what he does and is a great guy to stay in touch with.

Professor McCoy was without a doubt my favorite professor since I've been in Suffolk. He keeps class really entertaining and he also knows what he is talking about. This is the best professor I have at Suffolk. My mother is a lawyer and the last thing I wanted to be was a lawyer, but I have to admit after taking this class, I'm considering going to law school. He is funny, he explains the material for you to remember and understand. If you study, and participate, you should do great.

Professor McCoy was a good professor for this class. His lectures, although they didn't follow the syllabus, were very interesting and based on events going on today. He talks a lot but encourages class participation. He doesn't really have any tests/quizzes, and there was a major project at the end of the semester. Overall a good class to take!

Professor McCoy is one of the best professors I've had in my short time here at Suffolk. He is really knowledgable about law and has alot of first hand accounts that relate to the material. He tells you straight up that he wants to give the students something else to learn besides the material. Really cool guy

A really awesome guy, tells a lot of funny stories and it makes class interesting instead of boring. no homework at all and only one test during the whole semester. The final exam is a formal presentation with groups and he's really nice about it

Mccoy is a little intimidating in the beginning, but he's a really nice guy and a great professor. Quizzes/Tests aren't too hard. Put good effort into the Case Studies.

Professor McCoy fared the online course struggles very well and used great examples to help us understand some of the law jargon we were working through. He also uses most of his examples given during lecture in exams, so if you pay attention and take notes, his tests will be easy to pass. Open notes exams & very few additional assignments.

Professor Mccoy's class was an easy a. He's a really funny guy and doesn't take things too seriously. He will be pretty honest when critiquing your group presentations, but its helpful and he's never mean about it. definitely recommend his class

He is a nice guy, but he barely teaches. He jokes every class and tells us all about his life, nothing to do with the class basically. His exams are hard so get ready, if he gives you a "study guide" DO NOT RELY ON IT!!!

Although his lectures stray far, far away from the syllabus, this will be a very engaging and interesting class. McCoy's main goal is to get everyone involved and inform you on real world skills and stories. He is hilarious and very open. We were only graded on two assignments in my class but they were very simple and he graded them very lightly.

Despite it being a quick, online summer course, the professor made the class very interactive and informative. The work and readings were not too bad and the lectures were also interesting and fun. Don't be scared to take the class - you'll learn a lot!

So intimidating at first to the point where I wanted to drop the class and I know others who actually ended up doing so. Once you get to know his style of teaching he's truly a really great professor. He cares about his students succeeding and he's really passionate about what he does. If he likes ur class he'll give you a lot of extra credit.

Easy going professor

GOATED. Excellent and unmatched personality. You will not regret taking his class. Take any other professor and you'll be sorry, he is an absolute unicorn, you won't find anyone else like him. His lecture style is a bit unorthodox, but he genuinely cares about students not just in the classroom but outside the class as well.

I took him for BLE-215, I could not resist taking him for BLE-214. He is one of the top professors in the entire university, no one else is like him. He does not only care about your success in his class, but in other classes, and your life outside of classes. Must take. 10/10

The ABSOLUTE Best

This is my second time taking Professor McCoy and for good reason. He is an amazing professor. Very funny, nice, and caring. Lectures are never boring and you will always laugh in class. Class itself is pretty boring and lecture heavy but McCoy makes it bearable. If you haven't taken him yet, please do. You won't regret it.

Great Professor. Easy Class, especially online. Every class he lectures and sometimes shows things on his screen. It can be a boring class, but he hypes it with some jokes and interesting stories. He is not the best professor but he is also not a bad professor. He's great, I would take a class with him again!

Professor McCoy is honestly one of the chillest professors I've ever had. He explains the material super clearly and makes class enjoyable with his storytelling. He does talk a lot (sometimes it's off topic), however, he never assigns homework, and we only had one "pop quiz" that he told us ahead of time. Def recommend taking is class, if you can.

John is not your average teacher. There is a textbook which is really only applicable for the one and only "test" in the middle of the course. the free older edition one will still work. He doesn't post anything on canvas and everything will be turned in on paper. One big presentation at the end which was very easy. Very laid back and easy class!!
