I took a study abroad class with Professor McEldowney to Brazil, which was a great experience. He was a great teacher and I personally had a fantastic time. Anyone who would like to go on a school trip with a great professor should go with Pro. McEldowney. Just tell him not to wear the thong to the beach!! J/K

I had an awesome time in Rio with Professor McEldowney. I only wish it was longer than spring break. He was very helpful and knowledgeable of Rio. I can't wait to go back again someday!

These are difficult classes-but what upper acct class isn't? It's a lot of work, so dont let it pile up. If you need help or if he's going too fast, let him know. Don't just sit there confused. After auditing, I felt that I could pass the auditing portion of the CPA.

John is an awesome professor, one who really understands his students. John the Rio trip was such a blast, I'd go back again if you lead it. Thanks for making it fun and memorable for all of us. You are a great professor and you should definitely take over the Rio trip. Give my regards to Haegi.

TOUGH class, but he's a great prof. Acts tough at 1st, but very compassionate... very cute too. :) Wants you to LEARN, not just memorize. Hint: pick a GOOD GROUP & don't fall behind, else you'll be in a world of hurt.

He's a good teacher, but tough. He wants you learn & understand the material. He'll give you a whole bunch of stuff to know for the test (a bunch of lists) and only asks for 20% of it. Also, he loves T/F questions and is tricky with them. We had 2 BIG projects that were both very time consuming. Make sure you have time for this class.

Tough teacher. Too much work required for class: 4 tests, a 40-hr project, and a group presentation. Says "I can't test on everything but I can test on anything." That's not very fair and it makes it difficult to get a good grade in the class. I think it would be hard to get an A unless you were only taking that class and studied all the time.

Honestly, anyone who "hates" this professor simply does so because it's a difficult class. True, the projects take way too long for a single class, I'll give them that, but the exams are straight from class and lecture if you pay attention. To me, the exams were extremely simple. His requirements are just pretty stiff, that's all.

You must work to do well, but it is possible. If you are going to take the CPA exam this class will really help. He is difficult, but comes off harder than he is. Keep up and go to class. If you need help, he is there to provide it.

Study the Flow Chart symbols ! Tests are very straightforward. Do the multiple choice quizes in the back of the chapter. Very nice teacher, very funny. The group projects are not that bad - Dont take in a 6 week course ! Fall or Spring only - trust me

Excellent professor. Knows his stuff & will prepare you for CPA. At first comes off as arrogant, but he wants you to LEARN the material, not necessarily get a passing grade. Before you ask for help, know your needs. He will work with you if you actually identify what you stuggle with. If you don't like him, you probably never really talked to him.

Dr. McEldowney is a decent guy and knows allot about accounting. However I had a problems with his teaching style. Reads from PPT's and he makes the exams much harder than they should be. (much harder, watch for the essays) The subject is interesting but the info was not current. The group project was not bad at all. Good Luck.

Class is hard but it can be done. You HAVE to study on your own. He will help when you ask. You must go to office hours, send e-mails, ask lots of qustions. Sometimes he seems unfair but if you ask lots of qustions you will be one of his favorites =). He is clear in what he wants from you and test are not that hard. Overall NOT BAD!

Very good professor, but very hard material. Very willing to help outside of class. Make sure you do well on the online simulation and the Excel projects. They will save you. Trust me. Overall would recommend.

He isn't the best teacher but he is very helpful outside of class. I learned more by going to office hours than I did by going to class (though both were important). If you read, do the homework, and study, you will be alright. He will help you through the confusing parts. You just have to put in the time. The projects will SAVE you.

I won't say the course he taught is the most easiest one, but he is really helpful by assisting students! He is trying to make you understand and sincerely concerned about your academy! To be honest, if you really want to learn something, obtaining knowledge from this course, choose him! You'll feel achieved, as long as you follow his direction!

He's a tough professor. It is not impossible to pass his class; he just makes you work for it. GO TO HIS OFFICE OR SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. The more you do, the more he recognizes you, knows you by name, & sees that you're making an effort, in the end, he WILL help you. Also, do the projects & hw, they are essential to passing the course!!

I am an A student and was forced to withdraw from this class. Do not take him unless you have previous accounting knowledge.

This professor is there to help you if you ask. He is very intelligent and he explains things clearly. He wants you to succeed and understand accounting but you will definitely have to work for it. His tests are extremely difficult with what seems to be an overbearing amount of questions at first. I enjoyed learning through his class.

Don't get me wrong, McEldowney is such a nice dude. But he has very high expectations for his students. Make sure you get on his good side. Even if you KNOW the material, the tests are nearly impossible. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. BEFRIEND HIM. DO THE HOMEWORK- it's worth almost 50% of your grade. Super good teacher, just get ready for some hard work.

Dr. McEldowney is one of the best professors I have had in the college. He is motivating and helpful, but he is not easy. I learned more in this class than I did in most of my other financial accounting courses combined. I would strongly recommend this professor to other motivated students who want to excel in life.

Professor McEldowney is an amazing professor. Many students complain that he is unfair, however, he does whatever it takes to make sure you understand. He loves teaching the subject, and will help you out no matter time or place. There are exams and perdisco, however, the homework is a huge part of your grade and will save you in the class!

Great professor - he approaches the class assuming all students want to be CPAs. This class is a great stepping-stone to taking the Audit portion of the CPA exam. You MUST read the material and keep up with the lectures in order to pass - his exams test for comprehension not memorization.

OMG!! What can I say?! He made up his own PowerPoint slides, created a BUNCH of great teaching videos, and was ALWAYS there to help. He even had extra study sessions on campus on the weekends to help students. Hard class? The worst, BUT...i learned SO MUCH. Wish I could have him for every class at my university!

You MUST prepare before going to class. His lectures are not very organized because he tries to answer student's questions, which can be good and bad. Hard class... you will work for every bit of it but he's a genuine guy cares about his students. Get a jump early, get ahead and stay ahead and it easy. test will be a lot of True or False so know the tricky stuff. get to know him if he knows you he will look out for you. His class taught me how to work hard. passing the class with an A.

Honestly the hardest class I've ever taken but I'm glad to have taken it with him. He goes above and beyond for his students. READ THE TEXT. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIS ELECTRONIC LECTURES. Loved Mc Eldowney. I learned so much but I also had to work very hard. Long computerized practice sets and excel project, but you learn. You need to read the textbook thoroughly and put effort in. This class is difficult for everyone but he really cares about us learning the material and doing well. Extra credit is offered.

He is a great person and mentor. At first he will seem like a terrible choice, but he lays out all the information you need to succeed. He really challenged me in this course, but I would take him again. I wish I would have listened to him earlier on, but if you really want to learn take him! McEldowney is definitely my pick for taking financial accounting. His lectures make tons of sense, testing style isn't too hard to understand, and he does seem to genuinely care. Showing up to lecture is very important, as he gives great instruction on how accounting works. He also does take attendance most days, and that is factored into ur grade.

The best professor I have ever had! The class is hard and you will HAVE to read the textbook and attend class to pass, but he helps out so much. This is all new information to most people so of course it will be challenging, but if you work hard you will do good. He spends so much time outside of class to be available for all students.

Professor McEldowney is very good with connecting with his students and gives good advice. I went to his lectures and office hours consistently and learned a lot every time. He is WAY TOO funny, hilarious, and creative! You won't regret taking the course, and you will have a lot of fun in the class. Advice: GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!!! :)

I went to professor Mceldownys office hours all the time, like all the time. Im surprised he didnt kick me out. That exhibits qualities of a real caring instructor. Although the class was difficult, I managed to get through it with flying colors. one advice: dont use your phone in class, all the instruction time is valuable.

Accounting is a very challenging class for most people. I struggled a lot this semester. Theres 4 tests each worth 16% and two huge assignments that account for about 32% of the grade. Theres no extra credit and homework doesnt count for a grade, which I think would have really helped a lot of peoples grades.

TAKE HIM!! hands down best accounting professor ever! He has three exams, two practice sets and that is it. his exams are mainly definitional. Accountin is hard so it won't be an easy A. Dr. McEldowney has been a great professor that goes beyond any students expectations. I took Dr. McEldowney for both Principles and Audit. Both classes are hard, you need to work for them. Trust me, you will learn A LOT from his Principles class and it is your FOUNDATION for higher Accounting classes.

Ill be honest, this class is definitely hard and is the hardest class ive taken. BUT, Professor McEldowney is such an amazing and helpful professor. I started off by getting a 50% on my first test and he helped me believe in myself and ended up getting 82% on my final. 4 tests, 2 practice sets.

Hardest class I've ever taken, but also the one I've learnt the most in. Reading the textbook and doing additional homework problems are the key to passing this class. Fortunately, Dr. McEldowney cares about his students and goes out of his way to help if you ask.

This was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. Professor is really chill and lectures are amazing. Make sure to read the textbook before you go to his class. Although the class was difficult, Dr. McEldowney prepared me for the real world work environment which wasn't always easy so the class was not easy. He was always willing to help the diligent student and made passing the very hard CPA exam even easier because of his techniques. He provided what was needed in the CPA life.

This is the hardest class I have taken at UNF. The professor does a great job explaining the material in his lectures, but there is a lot of extra work you need to do outside of class to get a good grade. If you are not willing to put in work, you will not pass. 60% of your grade is based off of tests, the other 40% is not to hard but takes time.

This class was extremely hard. However, he provides everything you need to succeed. Some students failed the first test and stuck with it instead of dropping and Dr. McEldowney supported them all of the way. If you put in the work and show him you care, you will pass. If you don't read the textbook or do the homework, you will probably fail/drop.

Dr. Mceldowney is an excellent professor. He knows his stuff when it comes to Accounting and as a wealth of knowledge. Principal Accounting is a tough course however Dr. Mceldowney breaks it down to make it easier to grasp and understand. He generally cares about you as a student and your performance. If you reach out he will work with you.

Dr. M is a great guy, he is very knowledgeable about the subject matter and is an effective communicator. He lectures in a way that is very engaging and you can see his knowledge of the subject show here. The class is self driven so be aware.

Overall great professor. He makes class as interesting as it can be, and I liked that he class topic relatable. The only thing that I would say could be improved, is I wish we worked out problems in class together so we had some sort of idea how to do it. Just read the book and go to class and it will be a difficult but very doable class.
