I took History of Political Parties (even though I don't really do politics) based on a professor recommendation of a friend. Best. Decision. Ever. Dr. McLarnon is one of the funniest people I've ever met. He's very chill when it comes to class structure, you hear some amazing stories, and best of all, no final exam so long as you get a A!

Had his American Presidency class on W 6-9pm. Attendance wasn't required but he assigned a long article to read each week and gave a 5 questions quiz on it at the start of each class with multiple extra credit questions usually about just random facts. Grades were papers/debates. Tough grader on papers but tells you and gives detailed criteria

Keep in mind I excel at history (my major) but that said the class is easy if you're willing to put in a LOT of time. This online class is lots of reading, powerpoints with audio lectures embedded, and READING - graded mostly on quizzes (60%); rest is written assignments and discussions. LOTS of time do to work but it's easy&an easy A if you do

Dr. Mclarnon is great, funny, caring, and just an overall really cool professor. If you have an A in the course you're exempt from the final so that's motivation to do well. I had him for contours of us history and he is so educated on his subject and always accessible to help you whenever. I loved his class and would definitely take him again

Very friendly. History of the Presidency, grades on reviews of assigned articles and quizzes on articles. 3 in class debates, amazing lectures. Youll learn a lot and never be board. Quizzes are tough must remember very specific details from long articles. Not an easy class but interesting and fun.

Hes a character, funny and caring. Hes got ur back and will help you. Very cool lectures. Debates lack clear criteria. His article reviews are easy once you understand his pet peeves. Quizzes are tricky you essentially need to memorize the article because it can be random facts from the article. Great prof once you get the hang of his classes!

McLarnon has become a friend to me. He's a tough professor and you have to try in his class but honestly, it wasn't hard to try because it was so fun. He's a hilarious guy and he knows everything about history as well as music. Just put in the effort and you'll be good. Never read the books he assigned but DO THE DEBATE PREP AND PARTICIPATE.

Dr. McLarnon is one of the best professors I've ever had! A hidden gem of MU if there ever was one. Amazing lectures, fantastic feedback, and a personality that'll have you smiling ear to ear; even if it's an 8am class. Yall are missing out if you haven't taken his courses yet! ;)

Dr. McLarnon is one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures, although the subjects can be somewhat dry, were always well organized and interesting. He's a very hilarious, sarcastic individual. As a bonus, if you get an A in the class, you don't have a final!

McLarnon is an interesting professor, if you know how to write the article reviews the way he likes then youll do ok. Quizzes are tough 5 questions from an article and it could be the smallest detail. Hes clear on expectations and helpful to anyone who is struggling. Funny too, he can make heavy topics easy to talk about.

I've had Dr. McLarnon for both online and in person classes and by far I like in person much better. His online class is graded mainly with 5 question quizzes that you get three minutes to take. These quizzes also do not tell you what you got wrong. All in all I feel as though I learned nothing from the online course.

McLarnon is an awful professor. He has 6 pages if rules for 200 word article reviews. Everything in his class is worth 100 points, event the 5 question 3 minute long quizzes. The reading quizzes are based off of one of two readings that are sometimes over 40 pages long. And, most of the readings he has you write reviews on are written by him.

Hes a rude individual and his guidelines for his reviews are unrealistic - you can follow the guidelines he sets and still either not get graded for them or get serious points deducted. Ive had some brilliant historians as professors and hes far from ever being on their level.
