A true mentor for teaching. He teaches very well and spends the extra time with students who have trouble understanding. He teaches a difficult subject, but makes it easy to learn and makes it interesting. We need more instructors like him.

Challenging and tough, but you will learn the material and find yourself laughing hysterical at his great stories. Be prepared for lab, plan on late nights and a ton of studying, but he is FAIR and he makes class worth attending. Highly recommended to those who don't have a science background. He makes the material easy to understand.

Mr. Mcmillian is great. You will actually learn biology in his class. You'll be prepared for future science and heathcare courses. He does'nt spoon feed you,you have to study. Very fair grading. As a bonus he's entertaining, you will not be bored. His funny stories really helped me memorize some of the material.

He took what could have been a hard class, and made it easier to comprehend and understand by way of his teaching style. Writes all notes on the board from the top of his head. Smart man. Best professor ever. This was my last science pre-req class and I can honestly say he is the best hands down at ccp. He is smart, and knows and explains the material in detail all from memory,no slides,just from the top of his head. Arrogant, degrading and sarcastic. If your in "the club" your treated with respect, if not, your constantly singled out. Very disappointed in his lack of professionalism extended to some students. As a matter of fact I am embarressed for those students who are subjected to this week after week. Cannot understand what his motives are.

Mr. McMillian is a great Micro teacher..really knows his stuff. I enjoyed his class. One negative thing, he seems to have his favorites and tries to belittle you if he feels your question is stupid. Also, he's degrading towards woman.

I took this class during Summer II. It was intense but he is an awesome teacher. He's very fair & from my understanding, he's the best Micro teacher at CCP. Take him, you won't regret it. Test consist of 60MC ques & 5 Essay questions. He lectures straight from memory!! Very impressive. He can be sarcastic at times & I was sarcastic back:) Gd Man!

ARROGANT!!! But very easy class, straight to the point, but the questions on his tests were confusing, read the questions many times and you'll do fine. Final lab is take home, just make sure you record all the data. He gives extra points too. Textbook is not mandatory, I survived his class without ever reading or opening the textbook

I took John's class over the summer for Microbiology...he was very clear, gave very good notes for test, extra credit, called on us during lecture, etc. and all that was excellent. But on the negative side of things he told weird stories, had class favorites, got mad if mistakes were made in lab. If you can deal take him!

John was a good teacher,very knowlegable loves to teach and went off memory with lecture, very impressive, but very arrogant & always had a story about his family, which wasnt class related.I never missed a class scored well on multiple choice but the 5 essay questions killed my final grade a 69,he didnot give me the 1 point to get a 70

This guy is funny. He came to lab miserable and almost intimidating. I was afraid to even ask him questions. He came to life in lecture. His stories did relate to the topic at hand and were interesting. I did ok in this course but not what I wanted to achieve. Still recommend this teacher. Book usless. Take good notes.

Good teacher, very clear. Take the notes and study them. what he writes is on the test the book is not used. Pay attention show up to class and work and you can get an A. he is easy in terms that he gives you everything to get an A. If you dont apply yourself or show up to class then expect to fail.

He is very helpful and if you apply yourself you'll pass. Although a great deal of the exam is from his lecture, you must still skim the text. Reviews done wk before each test. Makes sure we understood everything before starting new topic. Alot of work but never teaches something we aren't being tested on.

I cannot say enough good things about this professor. He is kind and extremely fair in his grading. His jokes send everyone in the class to hysterics, and his anecdotes are both relevant and interesting. It's hard not to pay attention in this class. He makes it a very intriguing subject and is crystal clear on all of the topics. Favorite professor.

I was worried about taking this course in the summer because I heard it was very difficult. Take good notes, study, and you will do fine. He was very helpful and encouraging.

I really enjoyed this class! Whatever notes was given was just what was on the exam! He told the class alot of his personal business but it added humor and kept the classes attention. Very fair with grading and just an overall professor! I would recommend him for anyone taking microbiology

Great teacher. Took him over the summer. He basically told you the questions on the test. Gave you essay questions in advance and even checked it for you if you asked. Real nice guy. I would definitely take him again.

I highly recomend Mr. John class to anyone. It's easy to pass if you follow everything he say from taking notes and studying (Anatomy itself is no joke). He uses no trick whatsoever in his test and basically give you some of the questions while going over the lecture. He is all about his student doing well and moving on you will love him no doubt.

Hands down one of ccp's best instructors. I took bio 106 a d surprising found it to be interesting. He loves to teach and is very helpful.

I highly recommend his class. First time in my life I really enjoyed biology. Very clear explanations,funny examples. He gives all the material in the lecture that is necessary for the exam. I enjoyed the coarse very much.

Pay attention to the stories of his family, cuz that will help you to understand the materials even better. Be on time and make sure you don't miss any class. I would definitely recommend taking McMillian! He was a great teacher and throughly explained everything until you understood. You do have to write all the notes but it only makes it easier to understand. Always do the review sheets before the tests. Great professor!

EXTREMELY good teacher! He was very helpful, his test were true to the lectures and very clear. He always offered to stay after class if any students needed help. He told a lot of anecdotes that correlated to what we were learning which made it much easier to remember. I would definitely recommend him. Best teacher I've had through college.

Need to come to class to pass. will call on you in class to see how much you know or don't know which can be embarrassing. I don't like to be called on in class, so if you don't like to be called on in class don't take this class!! Does not give many breaks in grading!! You get what you earn!!!

Amazing teacher. It's obvious he loves what he does & knows his stuff. Had an accelerated summer course & learned everything I needed to! Tests are straight forward & he gives reviews straight from the notes he gives in class. You must go to labs though or he takes off points. Overall, CCP's finest bio teacher by far, wish there were more like him.

Great teacher,I enjoyed being in his class. He made sure we all understood a topic before he went on to another one. I would recommend him to anyone and I would take another class being taught by him. The only part of the class I did not enjoy was being called on. Once he knew your name you will get called on a lot. Overall, he's a great teacher.

I thought he was amazing. You can tell he is passionate about biology. I had problems at first and he worked with me. He saw me struggling and he made sure I understood. Mr. McMillian made a 7 week summer micro class interesting. He's a great teacher. His lectures pull everything together. Take notes, pay attention in class, and study for tests and you will get an A. He's easy on the eyes too :)

I'm so glad I took Mr. McMillian for Microbio. He is one of the best science teachers at CCP! He likes to come off as a strict, tough teacher but he's really nice & cares. He does not do powerpoint lectures so if you don't come to class, you'll miss out. His test consist of multiple choice & short answers. If you study your notes, you'll do well!

Jekyll and Hyde; gives funny and clear lectures, then turns cranky and impatient in lab. Tests are straightforward and everything is from class notes, so good attendance is a must to do well.

Very straightforward learned so much He was amazing and to the point During lecture, he tells you to write in the margin, like if he writes the definition for anatomy on the board, he tells us to take notes and in the margin of the paper write, "define anatomy" and he def puts it on the test! Prof. McMillian is an awesome teacher. No easy A but if you want to learn the material, he's your guy. His expectations are clear and there are no tricky test questions. Everything comes straight from his notes. Lab reports are easy, if you follow directions. I would take him for all of my Bio classes if I could, took him twice already.

Very straightforward about what he expects - do what he says (prepare study guides for review sessions, write sample questions in the margins of your notes) and you'll get an A or a B. He likes to randomly call on ppl. so be prepared for that by reviewing your notes before each class. Explanations are clear and tests are fair with no surprises.

Great Teacher! He's awesome! If you follow his notes, you will PASS! He will require you to do some light reserach on a question through your textbook, but most of the information is in your notes. He uses his personal experiences to help you understand Anatomy &Physiology. Took Him Twice! Test is not that diifcult if you study HIS notes.

No power points, notes written on the board, but not excessive. Tells very interesting, funny, relevant stories from his life. Textbook is very helpful for the short-answer exam answers. Only criticism is that sometimes, if you ask a question during lecture, he can seem a little annoyed at you, but not always. Would definitely take again.

He was a little touchy at times (maybe it was because he had been there all day and we were the night class) but overall, he was very clear and knew his stuff very well. Great teacher I had him for 110 + 241 he tests from his lecture and hand outs a study guide which you study from, your book is for more clarification, SAQ that you have to write out on test but you can review your answer before the test to make to sure its correct you just have to research your answer and memorize it. study you can't go wrong

Arguably the best teacher I've had. I had him for 9th grade bio and college A&P. He gives very detailed notes/explanations, and tell stories to tie in with the lecture. If you memorize his notes then you'll pass his exams with ease because the questions are like the ones he asks in class.

I really enjoyed his class. He taught us a specialized way to take notes which really helped me. I see that a lot of people didn't like his stories but that also meshed with my way of learning. I would see a question on the test and remember the story to figure it out. He's a nice guy and very knowledgeable. I highly suggest him.

Professor McMillian is an awesome professor. He writes all of his notes on the dry erase board as he teaches and he is willing to stop and explain if students are uncertain about a topic. He is caring, but he will not spoon feed his students. If you pay attention, study, and do you labs you are most likely guaranteed an B or higher in the course.

Mr. McMillan, hes a great person. Very long stories. Take lots of notes in his class, if he writes it, its gonna be on the test. If he says it more than once its gonna be on the test. Do every extra credit he gives. You will need it. Last part of test is always off of what you remember. Must write a paragraph on your answer, more info better grade.

Loved his lectures! Funny and his stories help you learn the content and relate it to life situations. However, I wish he went over the lab answers so you know your charts are correct. Take pictures of all your labs. The lab practical is tricky. But everything he writes on the board are on the tests so thats a plus. Just study your notes!

Mr. McMillian was born to teach! He is one of the most knowledgeable professors Ive had throughout my college years. If you go to class, copy down his notes, and review his notes you will easily get an A. Review review review! There is no reason to enter the health field if you think you can just get by in these intense science courses.

Professor McMillian was one of the best professors I had in CCP. He know's his material and helps you remember it by telling you real life stores. U have to put in the work for the grade. He is accessible in his office hours to answer your questions and yes he can be a little rough around the edges but above all things he was fair. before every test he checks the answers for the short answers ahead of time to make sure its right before you take the test you just need to go to him. Best teacher Ive had at CCP! He made me love the course. He kept me interested and was very easy to talk to. He was also very helpful and wanted to see us succeed.

I'm currently in his 241; 1st test took me off guard and I wasn't prepared. All test questions are verbatim from the notes. He writes notes on the board, you copy them, study them, and its the exact question on the test. He even gives you short answer questions ahead of time, and will check your answer so you know its right. HeWants you to succeed.

Overall Professor McMillian is a great professor! His test is exactly from his lecture, write down everything & study, do not get discourage if you fail a test or two, you can still pass the class. I have to say that this is probably one of my best classes. I love Professor McMilliana style of teaching. Hes old school and so am I. I love how he incorporates his personal stories with the lecture material. I highly recommend his class. Plus, we both after that CHS260 is the best class ever.

McMillian was an excellent professor. He was informative, straightforward and fair. While the course he taught was challenging it was not burdensome and I found his lectures to be very engaging.

Not everyone in the class liked McMillian's teaching style but I loved having him for micro. I took him for an accelerated 7 week course but I will say he's prob better at teaching at a normal semester pace since he likes to take his time explaining things and tell stories. I generally really enjoyed his class despite being not very science-savvy.

I haven't taken this calss in a while, but now that I'm taking another microbiology class, I can still remember the things he talked about. This was my first and only full online class, because of the pandemic, and he was excellent with canvas, great with his recordings, and very patient when people had questions on our zoom sessions.

If you do the work and pay attention in class (Microbiology), you'll do great! He explains everything that you need to know for exams in the online recorded lectures, which you can watch multiple times if you don't immediately pick up a concept. In lab, he very clearly explains every step you need to take for the experiments. Overall, great prof!
