If you are going to take him for CHM2045 be prepared to teach yourself. He is not clear on a lot of the concepts that you need for the exams since the exams are written by all the Chem 2045 teachers. He is nice about giving away clicker points but does points won't help you get a C in his class. Make him your last chice as a Chemistry teacher.

Chem sucks no matter who teaches it, but thank goodness Mitchell is at least cool with some stuff (ie clicker points) He tends to get mad when people ask him questions, but he could be worse. The real problem is that the tests are written by people with Phd's in chem, who think they are writing an easy test, but the average is like 21 out of 200

The material of the class itself is easy, given as the whole semester is what CHM 2045 covers before the first exam. Dr. Mitchell is entertaining at times, and does to a fair job of getting the material across. He loses point in helpfullness however by not giving a straight answer when asking a question which becomes tiresome and rude at times.

To be completely real and fair, Mitchell is a decent teacher. He can be funny and generous with points, but he tends to make things more confusing than they should be. Read before you come to class so you know what he's talking about, because he doesn't do the best job of explaining. DO NOT TAKE HORVATH. Tests are Horvath's and VERY DIFFICULT.

He is funny for someone who's teaching a class full of hung over 18 year olds. The first two tests are OK, the third test, which I studied for the most. Webassign, the online HW is the most annoying existance in the world. That thing should be eliminated from the face of the earth. Just study like everyday, talk to him a LOT and you COULD get an A.

When he says he stays up late at night thinking of ways to trick us on the exam, he is not joking. He is a pretty good teacher who keeps it as interesting one possibly can with chemistry, but the tests are extremely difficult (which isn't just him, since the majority of UF chem 1 professors use the same test).
