Mitrano rocks! He is always helping you out if you have a problem and you honestly regret missing one of his classes. If you have any problems with anything, just ask him about it. Always a fun time in class!

I took him for a summer class and honestly did not want the class to end. This was a fun course topic but he made it real fun. Not afraid to talk about anything.

Best prof at CCSU!

VERY FUN

Mitrano was an awesome teacher and person in general. He walked a perfect line between a great educator and a cool dude. He was abrupt and honest. The test and course work were of med. difficulty, but I learned the most from the awesome "force you to think" lectures. K Curley

He's very down to earth and funny. He expects a lot from the students, but he's very laid back at the same time. A great way to be introduced to the field of sociology. Would take another class from him again in a heart beat.

If you don't have a personality, know how to take a joke, enjoy sarcastic comments, know how to boost a prof's confidence, then do not take a class with Mitrano. He is far superior to the rest of you, and you better respect that. This man is legit and I love him, not as much as he loves himself though!! do you read students papers?!

I have taken Mitrano for 3 classes now, and he is the reason that I am in the Sociology program. He is the best prof. that you can take, he demands alot out of you and loves playing devil's advocate but if your a soc major you want to be challenged alittle any way..take him if you get the chance you won't regrete it!!

Took him for a winter course, Men and Masculinity. Interesting class and the easiest 3 credits I have ever gotten. The entire course was basically discussion based which made for some interesting moments and debates. If you plan on taking this course, I warn you that you have to sit through a couple videos about dudes ****'s

Mitrano is a very cool, funny guy. He loves the subject and definitely knows what he's talking about. I loved the class. Only graded on a midterm, final, & journal questions...which are easy if you keep up with them throughout semester. He's a fair grader & real nice guy. Overall he's great & I'd take him again!

He makes class fun. He talks like normal human beings and curves tests. Just make sure you have basic knowlege of the books he assigns and you will do fine.

I took this class during summer session...enjoyed it very much. Prof Mitrano keeps the class interesting, never boring. He likes to involve the class in group discussion. He is a nice guy with a great sense of humor. Read the assigned chapters and you should do fine on the exams. Highly recommend taking classes with Professor Mitrano!

mitrano is a good dude - intelligent and passionate. i would take him again for a class that wasn't structured as a graduate seminar.

Mitrano is amazing. Had him for methods and I could not wait to go to class everyday. Best prof at CCSU by far!! take him and you will have an amazing semester. Be prepared to laugh a lot!

Very straightforward, good notes, interesting discussions and documentaries in class. Spends extra time on interesting topics, skips over boring stuff and doesn't test on it. Tests are multi-choice and easy to understand. Definitely recommend.

Mitrano is absolutely great. He made an 8am class interesting and even fun. He knows what he's talking about and talks about it in a way that's easy to understand and find interesting to learn. He encourages his students to think with group and class discussions and always looks at both side of things. Tests out of textbook and documentaries.

Really good class, the topics were very interesting and relevant. Professor Mitrano is awesome at teaching, he is clear and makes the class interesting. My only problem with this class, is 60% of your grade are from the midterm/final (30% each, obviously) and another 30% for a final paper. I just wish there were more extra credit assignments...

I wish we could choose more than 3 tags! I took Mitrano over a winter session, so unfortunately I only had him for about 5 weeks. His SOC478 class was one of the best courses I've ever had, with one of the best professors I've ever had. If you like group discussions, this is the class for you. If you don't, that's okay there are other assignments

Really, REALLY enjoyed this class! Found Professor Mitrano to be one of the best profs I have had at CCSU so far. He is straightforward, humorous, and passionate in his teaching. Made me think about social issues and society in totally different way. Would recommend to others-- if you have to take sociology, take it with Mitrano!

Mitrano was a good teacher. Class discussions were very interesting, and he kept all the students involved. It was Summer semester, so we had two exams and one paper. Pretty easy class. Would definitely take a class with him again.

Had him for an 8am class, and he understood that we were all tiered, this is not my major btw. But if you just go to class and listen you should be fine, no extensive notes, just read a summary of the chapter he assigns and you are all set. Yes, he might require for some participation one day but thats it. Midterm and Final. One paper and done!

He was one of my favorite professors. There was only two exams: the midterm and final, and one paper. We mostly watch documentaries but they were intriguing and educational. he kept class interesting all the time. 100% recommend him.

Awesome teacher ! I took him for a summer soc class . He modified the syllabus , taking 2 assignments off . He was so caring , allowed us to bring our kids to class if need be just so we wouldnt miss a class . Very nice , respects all students , great professor !

Mitrano does not assign a lot of work so make sure to study for the exams and do well on the essay. He is a very insightful person who gets you to think and really challenges the status quo way of thinking. He loves hearing what students have to say about a topic and he is open to new ideas. He is very wise, he is not an ignorant person!

This guy is hilarious. He always tries to make sure that the class is interesting and bring out different points of views about social problems. There's two tests and one paper that's due at the end of the semester, but they aren't too bad. He's a good professor and really knows his stuff too.

Mitrano is definitely one of the more laid back sociology professors. He tries to make class interesting by showing videos, having discussions, etc. Only tests were midterm and final, all multiple choice and no homework besides a movie review of your choosing. He's good, but could make things better by having more group discussions that are graded

Took this class over the summer and it turned out to be much better than I thought it would be. Mitrano loved to play "devils advocate" with us in an effort to get our class to think different about problems in our society. He's a smart guy, yet down to earth and funny. Just do the readings, study for the tests, and you should be ok. Recommend!

Loved his class!! Does like to play "devils advocate" to get you to understand both sides of every problem. Not too many grades: 8 or so online quizzes from the books, a midterm, a final and a paper on a movie of your choice which displays a social problem. By far, one of my favorite professors

I reallyyyy loved this class! The topics are really really interesting and really get you thinking. He always likes to point out different points of view and hear the classes opinion on things. There are a few quizzes your graded from online, a midterm, final and paper. The only thing that sucks is the book is mandatory and only available online.

Mitrano is a very laid back professor. He engages the class in interesting conversations. He's very timely with returning graded work and is hilarious. He is not one to call on random people and make them uncomfortable. Show up, listen to the lectures and read the chapters. You will get an A.

Mitrano is one of the best profs ive taken. Only a midterm and a final, easy 15-question online textbook quizzes (need to buy the access code for online book), and a movie assignment that you have all semester to do. He really gets the class laughing and participating and makes every topic interesting and fun. Love him!

Mitrano was a light-hearted hilarious and caring professor. I've struggled with academics since kindergarten and he was a professor that gave me the courage to succeed in college. I strongly suggest taking his course and actually going to each class. Participation matters and you won't regret actually being present and listening to what he teaches.

Prof Mitrano is a top notch guy, hes is very organized, has great presence and truly cares about his students. Everything about the class is clear cut and straight forward from day 1. Very considerate of students and elects for an online book due to cheaper cost and easier access, chapter quizzes 1 midterm 1 final and 1 paper, unforgettable class.

Higher expectations but lists what he wants pretty clearly. Work is straightforward: chapter quizzes, weekly discussion submissions, movie review paper, and mid term + final. Very intelligent guy who makes things interesting by playing devils advocate. Put in the work and you'll pass

This professor is fantastic. I thought I would hate taking the class online because of the pandemic but it was actually really interesting and as long as you read the chapters and took notes then you did really good on the quizzes/tests. The exams were kind of hard but as long as you study and prepare then it isn't too bad.

Dr. Mitrano made soc 111 super interesting and fun. Participation is a must, a lot of classes involve lecture and discussion. There is a midterm and a final, along with quizzes and discussion board posts which alternate weekly. You will do well in this class as long as you participate and do the assignments.

Dr. Mitrano is a solid choice. The class was very interesting and he does make an attempt to hide bias on certain topics. Textbook is online with very easy quizzes. I would definitely take another sociology class with him if I had the opportunity.

If looking to fill social sciences gen ed, then Mitrano is the man. Best professor I have had at CCSU so far! Loves to play devils advocate and get you to think about current events ways you never thought of. Passionate, funny,and actually cares about students. Online text, chapter quizzes, 2 tests, blackboard discussions, final paper. TAKE!

Had to take this course over the winter session in order to graduate on time but Prof. Mitrano made it worth it. A lot of readings posted each week but gave class choices. Topics were interesting and projects not too bad (reading summaries, consumption journal, review of a documentary). Would recommend the course and the professor.

One of the best professors out there. Very good content and he really makes sure you learn the content but through conversation and questions. Makes you think but would never force you to share or make you uncomfortable. Very understanding.

You're graded on online quizzes, discussion boards, three tests and 20% of your grade is a movie review. Overall easy class, plays a lot of movies that relate to the content you're learning. You'll have to buy an online text book but that was the hardest thing about the class. All tests are online

Not a hard class. Was graded with discussion posts, the midterm and final, graded online questions that matched with the lesson, and a final paper due at the end of the semester. Easy A and there wasn't hard at all. He is super nice and understanding.

He keeps it interesting by utilizing a variety of media to support his lectures. He also has a great sense of humor, which encourages students to pay attention and participate. Attendance is important; he will tell you everything you need to know in order to succeed in the course. His feedback is prompt and helpful. Highly recommend!

Amazing professor.

Professor Mitranos class is very discussion heavy so participation is important. Weekly discussion posts he is tough on grading. A bunch of quizzes for each chapter online and a couple papers. As long as you are doing quality work you will do great.

I enjoyed Mitrano's class. I went in not knowing anything or having an interest in sociology but he made it interesting. Do not slack in his class because the work he gives is simple and easy to do as long as you do it properly. Mitrano makes clear what he expects and he's very honest. He's a funny guy and I would take his class again.

He discusses each societal issue thoroughly and introduces different perspectives from each sociological theory. He also discusses different political viewpoints on each social problem. He even presented documentaries and videos related to the topics. In addition, we got to choose a movie to review for sociological content and write about it.

Prof. Mitrano's class was a great introduction to sociology and the problems our country is facing. His lectures were straightforward, funny and got you to think about problems in a bunch of different ways. Graded by a mix of online book quizzes, a midterm, a final and a final paper where we could use ChatGPT. Worth taking, you won't regret it!!

There's only a couple papers to do across the whole semester. Clear grading criteria. Great lectures, not very boring. Watch a few documentaries in class. You must purchase e-textbook, as all of the HW and quizzes are on there, but they don't take much time at all, but they are weekly, they're very simple. Mitrano is an amazing professor overall.

Amazing professor, amazing course, would definitely take again! Professor Mitrano is super engaging and hilarious with our class, and his assignments are light work. He has an attendance sheet & phone caddy, but honestly the phone caddy is what makes the class more engaging rather than everyone not paying attention and the prof talking to himself.

Mitrano is a great professor. This spring, he required an attendance sheet and phone caddy, which sparked better class discussions. Homework is easy and midterms are fine, just don't let the work pile up and you'll do fine. He's a good guy and is passionate about the subject he teaches, and challenges you to dive deeper into class discussions.

Take him. Hands down one of my favorite professors at CCSU. You will discuss real-world issues, have honest and raw conversations with one another, and learn about subjects that MATTER! Class is a low-level course, so the workload is light. Mitrano is such a genuine guy and professor. Highly recommend this course, or any class he is teaching.

Professor Mitrano is great! The course is interesting, entertaining, concise, clear. He sticks to the syllabus, uses an online textbook with in book quizzes. He keeps the class engaged with fantastic lectures and was an all around wonderful professor to take sociology with!

Professor Mitrano is probably the best sociology professor you'll ever meet. He's funny, engaging, and his lectures are amazing. Attendance is mandatory but it's fine because his classes are actually interesting. He makes us put our phones in a box during class which helps everyone be more engaged too. Homework is just a take-home quiz weekly. Ez!!

Took this class for gen ed but honestly his teaching made me debate switching to a SOC major. Very interesting lectures that make you think. Grades are based on online quizzes from textbook and midterm/final are online and remote. Love Prof Mitrano!

My favorite professor so far. He has been great and is always fun to have, making every lecture interesting. Would 100% recommend this for your gen ed work. It is an easy A+ just pay attention and show up, and you'll get an A.

GREAT GUY. Attendance is mandatory and for a grade, but the class is so entertaining that it's worth going. I had social problems at 8am and it didn't feel like a struggle to get to class. Exams and all work is online, but exams are based off lectures so it's worth going. I highly recommend.
