Mr Montoya is super nice, he explains things in great detail and is willing to go over it again and again until everyone understands it. His tests are fairly hard, but always fair. Lots of opportunity for extra credit. Take him for statistics, instead of Brooke!!! Montoya will do all he can to help you pass, and won't humiliate you in the process!

Homework is optional, however it gives you 5 extra points on the tests. He answers any questions you have. He is always easy to track down for help. He always offers extra credit to help. He explains the material very slowly and helpfully. Its suggested to get a graphing calculator, but not necessary for this class. Montoya is an awesome teacher!

Mr. Montoya is a statistics genius. He makes the subject clear and interesting. Homework is manageable, quizzes are done in groups, and exams are moderately difficult (but he allows a note card). He gives opportunities for extra credit and drops the lowest exam score. Definitely the best instructor to take for Statistics.

He's a really good professor. If you are not great at math then you should definitely take him. He's great at explaining things and will be very helpful if you have any questions. He is willing to work with you if you don't understand. Tests are easy. There multiple choice tests. Online hw is extra credit which can help your grade a lot!

Don't miss out on this teacher. His teaching methods are clear and straightforward. He will not skip any of the steps he thinks you should already know how to do. He goes through every little step so that way no one gets lost. If you happen to get lost just raise your hand and ask a question. He is a very patient teacher

Let me start by saying that I SUCK at math. Prof. Montoya is, by far, the best math teacher I have ever had. I had him for Math C and I got a B, which is nothing short of a miracle. He could teach algebra to monkeys as far as I am concerned. If you do your Math XL homework, he ads 5 percentage points to your test. Amazing Professor!

Took Math-C online for Fall 2015. He offers extra credit for midterms/final and has clear requirements for the course. I struggle in Math so taking an online course made me nervous, but he's very nice and willing to help.

Best Math professor on campus. He is thorough with his lecture and examples. Very fair in grading, cares about his students, and easily approachable if you have questions. If you have to take Stats like I had to, then Montoya is your best chance at passing. If you can't pass this class with him, then you ain't gonna pass it with anybody else!

I took an online course with him & he had really good communication with his students. He did weekly email reminders of what was due & if he sees that you're slacking he'll email you which shows he cares about his students. Also he's pretty reasonable & understanding. Gives extensions on missed assignments & extra credit. And he has sweet ponytail.

Montoya is the way to go if you have the choice to take him. Homework is extra credit and is added to your exam grade. Quizzes are open notes, you can work in groups! He does class assignments which are easy points and are also open notes and you are able to work with others. Extra credit is offered just watch out for it. Great Class, Professor

Montoya is the best! He makes math easy, gives plenty of extra credit and homework gives you credit as well. Hes available almost everyday and he makes time for students that may be struggling. I will stick with him for as many classes as I can, he is the absolute best.

Very nice and caring guy. Gives lots of examples during lecture and will answer questions when asked. Lots of extra credit throughout the semester such as homework, extra credit days, and correcting the mistakes he makes on purpose on lectures. He allows a notecard for the test and does a review of test the day before. Quizzes are open book.

Montoya is cool. He is very nice and ready to help anyone who has questions about the problems in class. He is the head of the math department. He gives exam 5 percent extra credit if you do hw and another 1 percent if you spend 10hrs in tutoring. He is clear but the test seems harder. Very good teacher but you must practice a lot to pass!

I took the hybrid math C. I thought I would attend the class once a week with online homework/exams, but its FULLY online other then midterms and the final. HE is very helpful tho and gives extra credit. He makes sure we stay on track with email updates and friendly reminders. Math is hard for me, but he was very nice and helpful. GREAT INSTRUCTOR

Coming from the laziest person in the game, if you need to pass Statistics, then I highly recommend Montoya. If you want a A, then youre gonna have to pay for it by buying mathxl OR just do REALLY good on his test. If you dont care and just want to pass, then youll get a High B forsure. Just show up everyday and take notes. Theres no HW, just ExC

John is a great professor, if you need help he is willing to assist you. Very friendly and simple lectures. He will show you the normal way to solve a problem and a less 'complex' way to solve it.

Montoya is the best math teacher ever. I have hated math all my life, never understood it and now my retention level and enjoyment for math has completely changed. He's so encouraging, you never will feel neglected or stupid in his class no matter what, his positivity helped me believe in myself and what I could accomplish. Take him if you can!

Professor Montoya is the best math teacher I have ever had. You could tell he cared and loved math. Most of the material was new to me, but somehow he explained things in a way that made sense. The online homework was extra credit and he gave other extra credit opportunities as well. A 3x5 card was allowed for the exams which was very helpful!

I took Math 10 online with Mr. Montoya. He is an excellent teacher and would take him in class as well! He is very caring and responds right away to any questions. Math is NOT my strong suit and he makes it a little bit easier!

I loved this class. As long as you go to lectures and practice at home you should be good. He really wants you to do well in the class so he will provide plenty of extra credit opportunities and in general he is a cool and nice professor!

If you struggle with math, you should be in his class. He is very laid back. He even lets you work work with other students while being quized. He also lets you use a 3 by five card on the test. He also lets you use 2 3 by five cards on the final. He explains things extremely well.

Easiest math class you'll ever take. It's impossible to fail. Your lowest test and quiz will be dropped and that can include the final. For class assignments and "quizzes" you get to use notes and partners. For exams you are allowed to bring a note card with whatever you may need to pass the test. Gives lots of extra credit so buy the access code.

Any question you have, he will answer it... he definitely goes into depth when showing us a new lesson. He is super kind & just an overall great professor. Awesome professor. You need to buy "Pearson My Lab and Mastering" ($150) to do homework online. All homework done is Extra Credit. He adds 5 % to your test score. If you get 85% and did the homework then it pushes you to 90%. I got all A's on test without adding the E.C. so it is possible to get an A in the class without buying the program.

If you are someone who has always struggled with math or you hate math, this professor is a real gem. He is the reason I finally felt confident in math, based off the fact that his lectures are so clear & he goes at a slow pace. He will stay after class to help you with any confusion. His test questions are replicas of the lecture examples.

Professor Montoya is literally the most kind, caring and humble human being let alone professor I've ever had. He is extremely considerate and grades exams based off of how well you did the questions overall rather than just the end answer. Very easy to follow and understand. He literally holds your hand and walks you through each question. To me it feels like it is IMPOSSIBLE to fail if you just show up, listen to the lecture, and do the homework you'll pass. On test days he allows you to have 1 index card which is HELPFUL because I wrote all the formulas and example questions on it

Stats is a hard class but taking it with Professor Montoya made it seem less stressful. He explains everything very well, he always makes sure that none of his students are behind, and he gives extra credit every now and then. Overall I would very much recommend taking Statistics with him if it's your first statistics class.

Professor Montoya is a good teacher, however, I found statistics to be difficult. The exams basically make or break your grade and they are worth 65% of your entire grade. But, he does explain things well, just some material is difficult to grasp. Also, you will have in class assignments that are due at the end of the period, as well as quizzes.

He is truly a great math professor. I am not very good in math but he helped me get the best grade possible. He sends supplemental videos to those who did not understand in class.The exams will be exactly what you learned in class.There are about 7 extra credits, which gives you a chance to recover if you get a bad exam score.

Professor Montoya is a great professor who truly wants the best for his students. He is accessible outside of class and worked with me when I missed multiple class periods, including an exam, due to sickness. Lectures are great, but if you miss one it can be easy to fall behind if you don't reach out for help.

class was very straight forward, stay on top of it and you will do fine.

Easiest class ever. (Math26, online) It's all through a program, and you can redo the homework as many times as you need until you get it right. Quizzes I think you can redo 2-4 times, exams maybe only once? I don't remember but it was so easy. Only 3 exams. He also lets you extend a due date on three assignments (not exams) if you email him.

he's super funny, sweet, and very thorough with his lectures, if you don't understand something he is super patient and willing to explain topics to you.

I took his class in Spring 2023. He makes the material easy to understand. He would have us break into small groups to try and figure out the math problem. A few easy extra credit was available, as well as the online homework was optional for extra credit.
