Nice guy, but boring class. He gives a short quiz at the end of each lecture, so pay attention. The only thing that I didn't like so much was his grading scale-the majority of the grades for the class were the quizzes, so if you don't do well on them, then your overall grade in the class might suffer. Don't buy book, it's rarely used!

20 point quizzes at the end of each lecture, take home mid-term (essay, identifications), in class final (multiple choice), and a small book report. Relatively easy class, but the majority of your grade will be the quizzes, but he does a review right before he gives them out, so pay attention to that b/c he will most likely give out some answers.

He's nice, easy to listen to, and there's not a lot of homework. Maybe I'm just a creep, but I found the class interesting also. He's pretty funny too. I recommend taking him.

This was my favorite professor by far! He was very interesting in his lectures and there was not one person in my class asleep. He graded extremely easy (quizzes after every lecture (he gives you all the answers for it right before you take it), a take home mid-term, and a final based on all the quizzes) as long as you listen, you will get an A.

he was a great professor! he really knows what he is talking about & tells you the truth about history. he's a very funny guy, too! we never use the book, so don't bother buying it. he tells you to read chapters, but we have a lecture on it anyways. a quiz everyday after the lecture. I took HIS-1700 online. There is an easy quiz every week (open book). The mid term includes some identifications and an essay (2-3pages double spaced), and then you have to review a site off the internet and do an essay on it. The class is very manageable and one of the easier ones I have had. Interesting class.

Taking Michigan History was a very good class. Mr Mousty is a great guy,very good teacher works with you and is very entertaining. He knows his history and makes his classes very interesting. I recommend this teacher to anyone taking history class.

hes a really goood teacher. he has quizzes everyother class period and goes over the quiz right before you take it. he does give a midterm and final but they are easy.

Took all 3 History classes with Mousty. Couldn't have asked for a better prof! Made it interesting and funny. Notes in each class are all for quiz at end. Couple short papers he grades a little hard on. Quizes and final all m.c. Study only quiz and you'll do great on final. BEST PROF I'VE HAD! Easy A classes.

Probably the best teacher i have ever had, he makes class so much fun and he is very helpful. if your committed to your work then your all set. His quiz's are very easy and make sure you keep your quiz's because his final is basically every quiz you take. AWESOME TEACHER!!!!

I've taken him for both American history classes, and I recommend John to anyone who needs to take a history class. You will have a quiz at the end of every class, a take home mid-term, and the final is made up of questions from the quizzes. So make sure keep your quizzes. Mr. Moutsy is a great proffesor and very helpfull. This class is very easy but take serious on quizes cause they are worth 20 points for 9 questions. There will be two writting assignments.He is very easy greater on papers as long you write what he expects. I would highly recommand this teacher.You only need American Promise book/2 book dont buy.

John is the best teacher I've ever had. He's extremely funny, easy going, and can answer any question you might have (history related or not). You can tell that he love's what he does, and shows that he deeply cares about his students. Even if you're not a fan of history, he can make it interesting, entertaining, and worthwhile.

Mousty is real cool. He's really funny with how he shows so much compassion for the rough times in history. His quizzes are EXTREMELY easy. I don't know how you don't receive a 100% on them. However, i have seen people who don't receive full credit. If you're not an idiot you will do well. If you're an idiot, well, you'll do fine.

Awesome teacher. I was debating a History major and then had him and i know thats what I want to do now. Took Michigan History online during the summer session. It was lots of fun. Learned a lot of fun stuff about the state of Michigan. Mr. Mousty made the class fun with interesting topics and answered emails promptly. Also had on campus office hours if you rather talk about your question in person.

Such an easy class the powerpoints were just write down the info, and the quizzes were at the end of class and over the material of the day. NO TEXTBOOK USE. If you did miss class you had to write a pg. essay on a topic he chose. Super easy overall though.

MOUSTY IS AWESOME. he is soooo funny but aside from being funny, he knows his stuff. he doesn't expect us to memorize everything, just get the overall picture. quizzes at the end of class about what we did that day. he makes class fun, i love history anyways but profs like him are what make it an even better class & subject.

He is a very down to earth teacher that makes History enjoyable. In class he makes jokes that are pretty hilarious, keeping the classes attention and he answers all questions thoroughly. I did not open the book up once, don't waste money. If you show up to class being attentive, and do all the homework, there should not be a problem getting an A.

I hated history in high school, but after taking this class I decided to take another history class with him. He is awesome, his quizzes are at the end of class and are based on his lectures and are very easy. I love that I learned so much in this class, but we hardly had any homework. Also don't buy the textbook, I didn't use it once.

Probably one of the best teachers at the OCC Auburn Hills Campus. Quizzes every week based on the last two lectures which he reviews before the quiz plus they are super easy. Hilarious teacher, he loves to reenact history and you will die laughing. If you're not good at history take this guy, your GPA will thank you later. Also don't buy the text.

Best history professor at OCC! His lectures are SO clear and made even better with his acting skills. Hilarious! I have taken many online courses and this one was the best by far. He provides his course notes (which really helps explain the textbook). He gets involved in the online discussions. I learned a lot--worked hard--and felt good about the A that I received.

HILARIOUS!!!! Mousty often acts out scenes from history with vocal impressions, elaborate gestures, and even dancing. You will laugh harder than you ever have in a class, but ultimately you will learn and understand history and have a strong foundation in the course material. Clear cut final and open book midterm!!

I really liked him. He does tests at the end of every class over the stuff we learned that class, so the tests are not very hard. He has quite a personality and is very funny.

Basically he lectures every week and you have a quiz at the end of each lecture. YOU ONLY GET LIKE 1 HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT, THAT'S IT. I highly encourage him as a professor, speaking the truth my friends. He does swear a lot. BUT YOU NEVER NEED TO BOOK- SOOO DON'T GET THE BOOKKK. (save your $$). Mousty is amazing, I have history 8:30 am on Mon and Wed and I thought well damn. My first day I dreaded walking to class, then as he started my view drastically changed. He is a hilarious teacher I have ever met and makes class worth coming, he is an easy A and his lectures are great.

One word to describe Professor Mousty: PHENOMENAL! He will have you laughing in your seat a majority of the class. I was pretty nervous about taking this class but he makes it fun. Something I never thought I would say about a history class. You take a mini quiz at the end of each class, a take home midterm, a small project, and a final test.

Don't buy the bookhe gives a free online resource to read. The only downside is that he does swear a lot during his lectures, which is distracting. But other than that, he is great!

Mr. Mousty explains history in a very human way that makes everything memorable - which obviously leads to the assignments being super easy. The class is 95% lecture, yet it manages to be interesting because of his presentation of such. A lot of people are mentioning his humor - think dad humor dialed up to 11.

Mousty is the only professor I have taken for multiple courses. His classes aren't very difficult as long as you pay attention and take notes. He's funny and makes learning learning about history fun and interesting.

Mr mousty is the best history prof at occ, he makes lectures funny real and easy to remember for quizzes he also goes over things you should remember for quizzes so its easy to pass for students, I missed a lot due to sicknesses but he still made sure I passed and was super helpful outside of class to help schedule makeups and whatnot, RECOMMEND

I remember the most from his class. Very clear about homework and test and easily accessible by email and make up work that makes sense. You do need to show up to class because he gives quizzes at the end of every one or every other one and its a decent part of your grade. BEST ONLINE PROFESSOR EVER! I had to take an online history class this semester for my degree and wow did I luck out with this one. I always hated history but the way he graded things was very easy and the workload was very lite and the weekly quizzes were most times word for word from the reading. We rarely had assignments & they were very easy.

Really simple grading criteria, most of the work is open note. As long as you do your assignments there's no way you can fail this class. As long as you interact and read, you'll learn a lot too. I definitely recommend taking him!

Great class! It was really easy in many ways. Easy to follow along with, understand, and everything is well structured. Assignments are due every week, and there really isn't that many in a week. The hardest part was the research paper, and it was just figuring out what to do for me!
