Professor Mull is difficult if you arent willing to put in the work, If you can handle a heavy workload he grades fairly and you have an absolute understanding of where you stand and what you need to do to get an A in the class.

He is a hard teacher if you don't want to do work. If you complete the work and attend class there is no reason not to get an A. He is also funny and cute.

Show up every class and never miss any assignments. You will get 0 credit for late assignments and in class stuff cannot be made up. Learned more in his class than any other English class. Work your butt off to get an A. Not too tuff to get a C. Material is difficult so stay off the mind altering habits while taking the class.

He is an great teacher, You have to do the work and you have to attend class. But if you try and he sees that there is no reason not to get an easy B. He also plays lots of games for extra credit. And hes a total hottie.

I would take him again. I have never been a very good writer, but I still did well in this class because he went over every essay and gave feedback. As long as you go to class and do assignments you will do fine.

Professor Mull is awesome!! At first he seemed to be mean but turned out to be so much fun. You do have to earn your grade but he makes class very interesting. I loved reading all of the philosophers and learned more than I have ever in any English class. I definitely recommend his class.

Im not the best at writing essays but he does hw assignments that help you with the development of ur essays and if you do ur work and go to class u should b able to get a good grade plus his essays only have to be two pages.

He is extremely knowledgeable and knows how to educate. He makes the class fun!!! He is also fair and understanding.

Prof. Mull is extremely dedicated to teaching. He grades essays promptly and is available to help outside class hours. With that said, you will get lower scores on your essays than you think you deserve, but let's face it: you probably aren't as good of a writer as you think you are.

Prof Mull looks very strict, but once you take his class,he has a bit sense of humor & very helpful when it comes to preparing for the essay. Always submit your HW/essay on TIME!he deducts pts for late! Also, he gives full pts for participation & extra credit!(EC is team work)If youre into Descartes or any philosophers, you'll love this class!:)

He is a nice teacher. Has a bit of a funny side. The content was very abstract and dense. Very hard to follow and keep up. A feeling of Frustration was constant when outside of the class.

Hard, but fun. The readings are abstract, but he goes over it in class, and gives everyone a better understanding. If you take the class, and stay in, you will see progress in yourself, he will help you impove your writing and understanding of abstract readings. He does grade hard, but there is potential for a lot of extra credit. I suggest him.

This class will make you a better writer and reader. Class is very hard but is greatly rewarding to finish. Need to read the writings multiply times to understand and the class will take huge amounts of your time

This class is not easy and many will find the topic matter frustrating. HOWEVER, if you are interested in learning how to become a better reader, writer, and critical thinker, then this class is an absolute must. Professor Mull is an excellent resource and one of the best teachers you can have. Compelling lectures even if you aren't a philo nut.

ACHTUNG!: This class is definitely a tough one! Prof. Mull is great at clarifying the readings & assignments, but if you don't ask questions when feeling lost, you will begin to feel the weight of the class heavy on your shoulders. Don't expect to cruise through this course like Eng 101. I recommend him if you truly want to learn; not for slackers!

Would I recommend him? No. Save the stress and pick another English teacher. He clearly does not care about helping anyone out. Grades unfairly. I have never gotten anything less than an A in an English class and he truly made me hate English.

My writing is a lot better after taking his class.

The class was not easy, but if you did the work and did what he wanted you to do on the essay you'll pass the class. You should always ask for help with your essay if you need it because he will give you back great feedback. great teacher but not an easy class.

He really teaches you how to write better in his class. The critiques he gives back on essays are extremely helpful. He's also really helpful with whatever questions you have. This class wasn't incredibly hard, just challenging enough to make you learn something. I would definitely take another one of his classes. Oh and he's pretty funny too!

He is an awesome teacher. My only B class that semester, but I asked him to do the honors course just so I could take his class. If you can land a B in his class, you will amaze any other professor you have.

Prof. Mull may be difficult, but he is by far one of my favorite professors. He taught me so much. As an English major I expected to have an easy ride, little did I know what I was in for. It was hard, but i saw so much progress in my own writing. He answers questions, explains, and truly helped me when I needed it. AMAZING Professor!

Challenging and engaging teacher. His assignments require you learn more about the world and your values. His readings are abstract, but he explains them well. He gives great feedback and will go over assignments before you turn them in if you ask specific questions. Very inspiring in his willingness to help you understand literature and writing.

4 essays (3-4 pages each) based on assigned readings and a final in essay format. Readings are very challenging but prof goes through explaining them. Some extra credit opportunities if you attend class. Attendance required to get points. Plenty of time for revision of rough drafts. Lots of prof feedback & he is happy to answer questions

Definitely one of the BEST professors I've had! He is very helpful and open to any questions. There is quite a bit of in class group work, but it really helps us learn as students and really understand how to "think critically." If you're actually looking to get involved and LEARN, take his class! Made my semester awesome!

He is a very intelligent man that will help you with just a raise of the hand. Yeah he grades pretty hard but he gives you all the guidelines to get an A paper. Other than that he does a lot out of the book, "The World of Ideas" so be sure to get that as soon as possible!

Mr. Mull is a fantastic, smart and funny teacher. There is group work in every class but it's helpful and makes the class go by fast. He is a very tough grader. If you want a challenge, take him. Asking him questions and sending him emails was my secret to a good grade. He will make you a better writer if you let him. I enjoyed the class very much.

Most of the class is spent in groups discussing the previous night's homework. He's very open to new ideas and interpretations of the works that we are reading. He's good about giving you feedback if you ask.

He talks about the most rubbish topics. I had an awful time with the board and its clarity. Overall, I think great professor. He speaks really fast. I would definitely retake the class. Also, make sure you appear on time on the first day!

He is a fun and caring instructor.. some lectures are difficult but he's patient. He is extremely helpful if you are struggling with content from lecture or readings. The class itself is interactive.

He's tough, but so long as you participate in his class it's a great class.

Professor Mull gave us 6 Essays to write, each were harder than the last. They were not "Tear your hair out" hard, but around essay 4 you really had to think about them. He asks a lot of philosophical questions hoping to get you passionate. Might even show you a episode of Survivor. He is a fantastic teacher and I am taking him again next semester

A lot of writing! But he makes sure you understand the concepts. He makes sure everything is clear in class so when you go to write your paper you are prepared. Tough grader but he will make you a better writer! Great sense of humor. I love his discussion based class it was perfect for me! My favorite professor ever, best class set up for 103

One of the most awesome professors I have ever had and helped inspire me into studying English. Seriously, this guy is amazing. At times it may feel like a lot of work, but as long as you learn from his feedback and talk to him when he is available one can learn a lot from his class.

He's GORGEOUS and probably the most caring professor I've ever had. Makes a tedious class super interesting.

Tough, but a fantastic teacher. I also had him for ENG106. Class is 30% lecture, 70% group disscussion. Hard essay grader, but he goes over most points you'd write about anyway. So long as you pay attention and take notes, you're good.

Professor Mull is an amazing English Professor I have ever met. Very passionate about his work. He explains everything you need to know about writing your essays in class. Point to note is that he is a tough grader. Also, never skip his first day of class, he will drop you right there. 90% of his class is spent in groups, 10% lecture.

Professor Mull prefaces the class that he will grade you like you're from one of the top colleges. He is very clear with his grading criteria, but his feedback is extremely clear. Taking his class has definitely been one of the best experiences in my college life. I highly recommend this professor. (If SI sessions are available, definitely go!)

Professor Mull is an amazing teacher and he DEFINETLY prepares you for the next level. His class was pretty straight forward ( lots of reading and writing like a typical English class). He does do a lot of group work which seems to help a lot. All in all, he's great.

Prof. Mull's Eng-103 class has to be the hardest class I have ever taken in college. Nevertheless, his class IS the greatest class I have ever taken. He really does care if you understand the course work & he sets you up for success on every essay. Attending class is a must & be ready to read. My only regret is not taking his ENG-98 & 101 classes.

Prof. Mull is the GOAT. His class is structured exactly as his syllabus is written. All of his instructions are clear and he facilitates group actives that help you understand the material & are a lot of fun. Do anything you can to get into his class. I have learned more from him than any professor and truly enjoyed this class more than any other.

I took Prof. Mull for Creative Writing. His class was more Discussion than lecture which I LOVED. He'll definitely make you work for your grade, but the whole process was fun. I recommend him and hope to take another class with him in the future.

Honestly, it was a very hard class that I almost dropped out of, but I'm glad that I didn't. Many students did drop but he offers extra credit that really helps. He answers all of your questions, though he might tease you. There are lots of readings that you need to do before every class period, but he explains them in depth when you get to class.

This was easily the best course I've taken in years. It is an interesting class with compelling and thought provoking material to work with and write on. The structure of the class is mostly in group discussions, but without the pressure of group projects. He also gives great feedback on essays and responds quickly to emails. Would take again.

Probably the best college professors Ive had. You can tell he really takes his time grading and gives you important feedback that is important and easy to understand. Also being in his class was such a blast, it never felt like a chore showing up.

The class is discussion-based and of course based on critical thinking. Grading criteria are very clear but he does not hand out As. You cannot pass if you do not participate (group discussions or online in discussion boards) and if you do not do very well on the essays.

Took Prof. Mull online ENGL103 as a last minute class for a pre-req transfer. Very good, strong professor- but extremely tough grader. There is no room for error, offered 2 extra credit assignments that weren't worth a lot. Gives excellent feedback for you to improve, fully read the syllabus, announcements, and instructions & you should be okay.

This class was not as difficult as I expected it to be. The majority of the class is spent on peer reviewing and giving feedback on each other's writing. Professor Mull also gives good feedback on first and final drafts of assignments that are actually helpful. He stays on top of grading on time and usually has assignments graded within 2-3 days.

I cannot recommend Prof Mull enough, my favorite college course to date! He takes your education seriously and offers office hours outside of class if you want extra guidance. Apply yourself and you will succeed. Professor Mull is an amazing teacher and he helped me refine my writing ability. I highly suggest his class. SI was awesome too!

Professor Mull has been one of the most influential Professor I have had! Without a doubt by the end of the course you will be a considerably greater writer! While the course is rigorous, it it incredibly rewarding in the end! Also the readings were incredibly fun and interesting! Be sure to know your MLA!

Get ready to read!! Hes a great professor but hes not an easy A. a bit of a tough grader but he gives you feedback. The class consists of weekly readings and discussion boards and a couple essays.

Such a hard class! Dont take! He grades very heavy and is so hard to please on any papers. This was my hardest class Ive ever taken. I dont feel like I learned anything from him. He does give lots of feedback but it isnt clear to me and I didnt understand his class at all.

He is very fair, but it also won't be an easy A. If you want to better your writing skills 100% recommend, but if your just taking for credits you will have to put in effort. The workload is not overbearing, but the essays can be a little tricky/technical. At the end there is an Othello/Shakespere unit and that is what brought my grade down

Professor Mull is a very insightful teacher. He gives helpful feedback, explains concepts well, and is generally very responsive to emails and willing to help. He's very understanding and encourages creativity while offering areas for improvement.

Professor Mull is a tough grader on essays. His grading rubric is quite thorough, and he grades according to it. The feedback is great but mostly focuses on what you did wrong. The class isn't easy, but it's also not grueling. Definitely should only be taken by those who take the English course seriously and don't just want an easy grade.

He provides one extra credit assignment and lets you resubmit essays for a higher grade. However, the only way you are able to resubmit is if you turned in prior to deadline and meet requirements. Late submission cannot be submitted for higher grade. He provides good feedback and responds in a timely manner.

Mr. John Mull is the best professor at MSJC.

Professor Mull is great at creating a fun environment for students and definitely pushed us to have interesting discussions based on the texts we studied in the class. Though he's a tough grader, he provides detailed feedback and allows resubmissions.

If you want to get better at writing take this professor. He is very hard so don't take if you are just trying to check a box. I respect this teacher very much. First day of class he said if you get an A in his class you should be able to get an A at any school in the nation.

Amazing professor. He creates fun and engaging lectures, as well as activities that break up any monotony. His class does require plenty of thought and reading, which often requires rereading the material several times over to then be able to formulate thoughts into a strong argument. I greatly enjoyed his class and instruction.

Such an amazing professor! Yes, he IS a tough grader, but he gives you every opportunity to succeed. Not only has he helped me improve as a writer, but I was even excited to attend class every week because of the course content and the formatting of the lectures. On top of this, he cares a lot about his students, which is so nice to see!

I enjoyed attending class and participating with my peers in John's thoughtfully designed group activities, which effectively connected the content to the course material. He provides excellent feedback, and attending class is essential for receiving valuable feedback from both peers and the professor. Would take again.

This class was a prerequisite of mine, and I took it twice because it was fun to be in his class. The course subjects were strangely philosophical but related to critical thinking a lot, and he was kind and fair.
