Arrogant, slightly ****, very intelligent, but then knows everything

The man thinks he knows everything and isn't afraid to make you look like an idiot in front of the entire class.
He's very excited about what he teaches and has a way of keeping you interested. His class is somewhat hard because his tests are based on a lot of things that he says in his lectures, however he has an awesome curve where if you have a C on a test someho
Not very helpful to non-psychology majors
AMAZING professor, great and interesting lectures. You learn a lot in this class and it is not a waste of time. however, it was 50 times harder than any other class I have ever taken. Expect to work your tail off.
Great teacher but his tests are REALLY hard. The tests will really make or break your grade. Every test you take will be cumlative.
I really liked Bohannon, even though everyone says hes very full of himself. He made class interesting, and knew everything about everything. The class is only hard if you don't read the book and listen in lectures. He was a very funny guy.
what a dodgy ****
This guy is intelligent, but cannot communicate effectively. He will randomly call on people and would rather make you look stupid than help you understand. Arrogant, pompous, and he even quotes himself in class. Stay away. Even though he is the department head, don't be afraid to stand up to him. He is not the end all be all of psychology.
great lectures, really hard tests
He is tough but a great prof
He's very intimidating. I didnt do good on any of his tests, all Cs and Ds. He made me think I was going to fail the class but then at the end of the semester I got a C+ in his class. He comes off as being really tough and scary but he's really not all that bad.
He's really hard on non-psych majors and he plays favorites.

i love this guy!!.. he is really funny.the tests are pretty hard, but u learn so much and every lecture is really interesting.
This guy is awesome, but he covers about ten percent of the test in the class. the other ninety you have to do. and it is ****ing hard. i flunked the first one, and somehow pulled a "b" before the final. So if you get unlucky enough to take him, just read the book a lot. oh and he will get you a tutor for free. so do that
This professor is hard but VERY interesting. Also ALL tutors at Butler are free, so while it's nice that he will refer you to a tutor, our $30,000 a year tuition pays for the tutors. But I agree...Bohannan is a good teacher but he's very hard and you do have to read the book religiously.
While his class seems tough, it's really one of the most informative in the psyc curriculum at Butler.

great
He's boring at times, and rambles on. He thinks he's hot sh*t, but he really is extremely intelligent, you just have to get past the bull.
He was not a very nice guy. One day he actually cornered me after class to yell at me. Luckily for us all though, he is no longer the deparment head. Maybe he's been humbled a bit, but I doubt it. He believes he is God's gift to the Psychology field. I would only take him if you ABSOLUTELY have no other choice, otherwise RUN AWAY!
Very hard professor, but rewarding. Pushes you to work hard and do well. Not fun at the time, but worth it in the end because you really do learn A LOT. Can come off as a jerk, but does show genuine interest in his students and wants them to do their best. If you have an interest in psychology, I would recommend taking him.
It's a love-hate relationship with Bohannon. This class kicked my ass, but you learn a lot--even if it doesn't show on the test.
He is really difficult but if you put forth a lot of effort, he will notice. I would stay away from him for intro if you can but that may be harder for developmental. He can be a jerk but he can be really nice too.
really fast paced. he doesnt even get to go over half the stuff u need to know for the test
Bohannon does not teach along with the book and so you have to study for two exams instead of one. He often gave us the wrong test, would interrogate his students in class, use antiquated slides, and yell. The 20 page paper due at the end of the semester needed 30-50 sources (!!!). It might as well have been a thesis. I would not take Bohannon.
i thought bohannon was as mean and un-caring as could be at first, really weird too, but now its been a year since his class i have to say i really have come to respect his teaching style. I remember his lectures more then any other professors at butler. btw he has a 250lb bomb in his office. no joke. he will mess with u head and u will like it.
Full of himself and makes class way too difficult. Impossible to communicate with and mean.
You will learn a lot from this teacher, but your grade will suffer. Unless you are a psych major, do NOT take his class to fulfill the core curriculum. You will have to work your tail off and you still probably won't get an A.
Before associating yourself with him, ask yourself this: "What do I want?" If you want a cakewalk, then avoid him. If you want to be challenged to do more than you thought you were capable of, work on graduate level projects, present at national research conferences, master statistics, and get into a top tier graduate school... then approach him
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This guy will kill your grade he is a arrogant pompous ass. this is the only B i got my freshmen year of college. I tried to ask a question once and he treated me like i was stupid. he tries to make his class hard just to impress you. every other psychology class is ten times easier. trust me he is mean and you will hate it
this guy sucks he made my life miserable. all i wanted to do was get my core credit from this class and i spent the most work on this class than any other. the tests are insanely hard too. you do not want to take this. drop it or switch out right away!! it will ruin your GPA. stay far away
I had him for Intro and am in his Developmental class now. If you're a Psych Major: take him. He's tough, but fair. He really cares about his students, and you'll learn so much from any course you have with him. If you're a good student, you can put in the effort and still get an A. I got a solid A in both courses I took with him.
He is the most egotistical man alive. He is not very willing to help. He doesn't care about how much work he gives you. He is just plain rude...especially when he critiques your work. Avoid this class.
I am a Psychology major at Butler. I took him for Intro, and if you want to challenge yourself and learn, take him. With Bohannon on your side, you can get very far in life. Personally I would have never taken him if I was not a Psych major. You love that he teaches you more about psych than any other professor ever will, but hate his hard class.
Had him for development. The single worst professor I have ever had in college. A complete ass. Arrogant, narcissistic, will ridicule you in front of your peers as if he gets pleasure from it. Smart to the point that he just HAS to show off. Gives more work than necessary. Avoid at all cost.
As long as you keep up with your reading and utilize the extra credit, there's no reason you should get below a B in the class. If you aren't able to make fun of yourself or let him do so, you won't enjoy the class. He's very helpful as long as you take advantage of his office hours and ask him questions in class, and he'll like you more of you do.
This class will make your life miserable, don't let it.
don't take this class if you just want your natural world credit
A lot of people gripe about Bohannon. Yes, his class is hard, and lectures are never in line with the book. However, if you record the lectures, really read the book, review properly, do ok (low B, high C) on the exams, and do well on the final paper you're golden. It's harder to fail developmental than it is to pass. I did it and earned an A-
His exams are impossible. The class is interesting, but the exams cover book material never discussed or clarified in class. The book material doesn't even line up with the topic in class. I take notes on the chapters, go to class and take notes, and still do terribly on the exams. DO NOT TAKE BOHANNON.
His class, for a social world, is very hard. BUT, the learning methods he taught us in this class have influenced how I study FOR EVERY CLASS now. Even if you are not enthused about Psych, I'd advise taking it for just that purpose. The exams are over lecture AND the entire chapter assigned. So you study for two different kinds of tests in one.
This class is for people not afraid to work hard and actually want to learn a lot. I was weary of the class because his reputation preceeds him; however, I learned more and worked harder than I have in most other classes. It taught me a lot and I will forever have him on my side to help propel me in life. He stands behind hard workers, Do it!
This class is a lot of hard work, which is very time consuming for little payoff. The tests are over lectures, which don't line up with information in the book. Do not take this class, unless with Butler, for your social world, otherwise your semester will be ruined. If you're a psych major this class may be a good option.
Bohannon is one of the guys that just has to show you how smart he is & it gets really annoying. He's had several female students complain about how he makes uncomfortable sexual remarks. His tests are just plain stupid because they consist of material from the book, which he never refers to or clarifies. Just don't take it & save yourself stress.
He is extremely condescending and rude. His lectures are almost always off topic from what you're reading in the book, yet there are questions on his tests that pertain to the random tangents he goes on in class. He always says things are "so obvious" which makes me, personally, feel very incompetent. DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO.
Lectures and homework not related at all, it's expected that you know everything from both and every test is cumulative. Don't ever ask for help, especially with papers, he will try to make you feel stupid and will not help you.
He was very condescending and his tests are impossible. DO NOT TAKE HIM if you are just trying to fulfill your social world credit.
Taking this class with Dr. Bohannon was the worst decision I have ever made. He just loves to hear himself talk. If you get stuck with this awful professor, make sure you take extensive notes both on the textbook and his random tangents in the lectures because even with all of that the tests will still make no sense whatsoever. Good luck.
Bohannon makes you work like a dog for a good grade. Tests cover both lecture and readings; there is almost no overlap between the two, lots to know for one exam. There's an opportunity to earn MASSIVE extra credit, but again, you have to work for it. He's a neat guy and a great teacher, I really enjoy the class. Heavy work load, but interesting.
Don't even ask for help for his term paper unless you want to take a hit to your self-esteem. His lectures are all over the place, and the reading expectations paired with the term paper load (matched by his harsh grading and unhelpful feedback) makes the second part of the semester horrible.
He is a very smart man and knows what he is talking about. He chooses to be extremely cocky about it. He is a very intimidating professor and not easy to approach. If you do approach him, he tends to make his students feel like they're stupid. If you can, avoid his class at all costs.
Dr. Bohannon was awful. The tests are part lecture and part book, and they rarely overlap. There is so much info for each one, and the lecture part is comprehensive every time. There is extra credit, but it's so much work, its not worth it! For a core class, this was way too difficult. Anyone BUT Bohannon should be fine.
I don't know what people are talking about, and I'm sure this will get dislikes, but this class isn't bad. Pay attention and take notes. Read the assigned chapters before the exam. Do the extra credit (he offers 10% of it! You can get an 80 and with the allowed extra credit get an A!!!). The lectures are boring, but if you try, you'll do well.
If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't it. Dr. Bohannon is extremely knowledgeable and cares about providing a quality education. If you ask for help, he will devote unlimited time into making sure you are confident in the material. There is a lot of work in this class, the expectations are high, but if you want to learn, you will excel.
Walking into Bohannon's classroom gives me anxiety. He will call you out and embarrass you or make you feel stupid if you ask a question. Avoid him if you can!!
He is super intense and expects you to know everything from the book even though you don't go over any of it in class. Also, he constantly randomly calls on people in class, so beware...
Bohannon is a professor that honestly just wants to share his wealth of knowledge with his students, and expects them to put an effort into their work. You learn so much just by sitting in class and listening to his stories and actual lecture material. It's not a blow off class, but it's probably one of the best classes I've taken so far at Butler.
A great professor who wants you to learn the material. He lays out very specifically what his course requires and if you do all of it, you will succeed.
This professor was the worst one I have had. I'm a psych major and he made me feel stupid. His lectures don't match up with the text or chapter you're on. He talks about random things and I honestly learned nothing from his lectures, it's all based on what you read in the textbook.
His lectures have nothing to do with the reading. The tests are all over the reading but you never know what to expect. If you are not a psych major do not take the class. lectures are awful to sit through. He makes tests hard for a reason.
I've had two classes with him, he's my academic advisor, and he's the reason I chose to be a Psychology major. Bohannon's a great professor, but he does expect a lot. You need to work hard in his class but I guarantee you will learn more from him than any other professor teaching the course. Also great connection to have for grad school/ jobs
Bohannon was the best professor that I had my first year at Butler. I would recommend him to anyone who needs to take a psychology course. He is a professor who takes a step back and realizes that you are not a professional. He wants you to be the best you can be and really encourages his students.
I would not recommend taking Dr. Bohannon as a first year. He teaches at a 400 level, even though Intro to Psych Inquiry is mainly a freshman class. The trick to this class, is to do ALL of the extra credit possible. I raised my grade from a B to an A at the end of the semester by doing all of the extra credit papers.
This was the worst class I have taken at Butler. He is disrespectful to students and will call you out in class and make you feel stupid. I do not recommend taking this class due to how stressful it is. I took it when I was not a psych major because I needed another class to take and I struggled very much with it and I had even taken AP Psych.
Dr. Bohannon's course consists of lecture. He is very passionate about psychology. This class was not easy, and the extra credit was a grade saver. If you are not interested in pursuing a psychology degree, I would not take this class. That being said, I did learn a lot and I felt very prepared to take more higher-level psychology classes.
Bohannon is the most unprofessional, inappropriate, arrogant professor I have ever encountered. He thrives off of patronizing and embarrassing his students, and his primary goal is not to teach but to show how smart he is. He also borders the line of sexual harassment with crude comments and innuendo. DO. NOT. TAKE. HIM.
Dr. Bohannon is the reason I added a psych major. He is a tough professor to take, I had him for intro and I'm in his Developmental right now. He expects a lot from his students but is more than willing to help if you need it. He wants to share his knowledge with you and is very passionate about what he teaches. Not easy but definitely worth it!
Honestly hes kind of the worst. He doesnt seem to actually care about his students and he like to brag more about his connections and the people he knows than to actually teach. Sometimes he can be kinda funny because hes an oddball but it isnt worth it, unless youre a psych major, avoid this class at all costs
WORST class to take if your just trying to fullfill your SW credit. He assigns 2 chapters to read per test then does not lecture on them at all. You have a test every month but never know what to exepct on it. He offers a ton of extra credit so do it! That is the only way you will ever get a decent grade in this class.
Dr. Bohannons elective introduction to Psychology course consists of 5 tests (including the final) which build on each other. The tests consist of lecture where he reviews past exam material and does not review material in the reading for the next exam. Very tough course. He disrespects his students and makes them feel uncomfortable. Goodluck.
Dr Bohannon isn't the best professor to take if you're only taking the class as a core credit. His teaching method doesn't if you're trying to learn the textbook work and the lecture, as his exams are on them. You should do all extra credit if you want to pass the class. Unless you're a genius.
Although his lectures are usually interesting, they hardly relate to the assigned reading. The exams are very difficult, so do all the extra credit if you want to pass this class. Do not take him unless you absolutely have to.
Dr. B is hands down the hardest teacher in the psych department at Butler University that you can take. That being said if you are not a psych major Id advice avoiding being taught by him. Why? Bc you WILL learn the material. If you are a psych major take him. Material is interesting and I actually enjoy being taught by him. I retained information
Worst class I've ever taken. only take if you want to only learn about his personal and professional life, because thats all he talks about. He is conceded, rude, arrogant, and does not teach anything but expects his students to know everything. He refused to help me when I couldn't access the online book and is never available. worst class ever
Do the extra credit. It can raise your grade by a full letter. The lectures are not helpful, so be ready to read the book closely. It is possible to do well, but I would never recommend taking intro psych with Bohannon.
Unless you find being patronized, teased, and disrespected funny, don't listen to the positive reviews. Very few people like Bohannon because he is arrogant, self-absorbed, and doesn't teach textbook material but tests on it. His lectures are confusing and uncomfortable. Pro tip: ask the science librarian for help on the extra credit and do it all!
He doesn't teach anything. He provides extra credit so everyone in the class does not fail. However, I did the required extra credit even and he is refusing to give me credit for it. With the extra credit, I should have gotten a B in the class. Now I cannot get into COPHS and have to give up my dream to be in healthcare. Thanks Prof Bohannon!!!
No homework, just 4 exams. They're hard if you don't read the book, but studying is all you have to do for this class. Enough extra credit opportunities to raise your grade 10%! Lectures rarely relate to the book, but he encourages you to record the lectures to study them later. He is blunt and straightforward, but not unfair.
I needed an Intro Psych class and made the mistake of taking this class. He gives 4 exams per semester and that's your entire grade. Exams are absurdly hard and require you to know the information in the textbook down to the most specific details. He is very enthusiastic in class but expects you to know everything. This class was very frustrating.
Bohannon did crack funny jokes but his lectures were really hard to follow. He didn't use power points so he would sometimes forget what he lectured on and lecture on it again or lecture over something we had just tested on. He wasn't easily accessed and would rarely actually answer a question. He promised extra credit then didn't follow through.
The worst professor I've ever had. Never uses visuals for lecturejust talks for an hour, and if you don't write everything down you won't pass his exams. Better memorize the textbook, because he won't cover all the chapters on the test in lecture. Thousands of words on homework every week but only worth a few points. Never taking his class again.
Rarely talks about the material during lectures, lots of random, unrelated examples. The writing component is terrible: weekly single-spaced, 2-page papers in 10-point Times New Roman which is around 6 pages 12-point double-spaced. The tests are extremely specific so memorizing the textbook is the best and only method that has worked for me.
