This guy is wonderful! You learn so much about life in this class. It makes you think. I wish that I could retake it just to have him again as a teacher. That's how awesome he is!

This man has taught me so much about life, love and myself, its incredible. I think everyone should take one of his classes because it'll change your life.

Entertaining, but one of those teachers/preachers that believes he has everything figured out. This wouldn't be so bad if the class didn't buy into every word he says without question. Also, much of the information he presents smells of bad scholarship.

That student is crazy. John is a first-rate scholar. He knows so much because he has been studying for 30 years. Some students do not do well on their projects so they blame John. They have all semester and turn in crap and then get mad at John. SAD!

This was also an amazing class (i took the honors human sexuality and spirituality ). The behavior class actaully had tests in it though. they were pretty easy, he tells you exactly what is going to be on them. HE is the most amzing teachers i have ever had and i recomend him for any classes he teaches, hes an all around awesome person.

LOVED this class. oliver made me *want* to go to class, which was quite an accomplishment considering it was at 8am. he always makes class interesting and is just an overall good guy with a great sense of humor. if you ever have the opportunity, take him.

Dr. Oliver is the BEST professor EVER! I took Human Sexual Behavior and I never once felt uncomfortable in his class. I believe every seat was filled throughout the semester, which is something to say for a late night class. His knowledge is contagious and his side stories are great. (Halfway through the course he relied more on the book) TAKE HIM!

He is very nice, and helpful. Has a lot of insight on what he is teaching. This class was interesting and fun. He kept students laughing, and kept everyone focused. 3 test 2 papers. Use text to study test overview.

Sexuality and Spirituality - Dr. Oliver is amazing. Everyone should take him before they graduate. He knows his stuff and loves to help his students grow. He's a sex therapist, formerly a Priest, which makes him all the more interesting and knowledgeable. TAKE HIM! You won't be disappointed.

Amazing professor - keeps you interested throughout the whole class, which is great for a 3 hour lecure. Jokes around, tells a story about his kids, and talks about sex without missing a beat or making you feel uncomfortable. Four tests & some assignments, but not hard at all. Go to class (which you'll enjoy), read the book, & it's an easy A.

Had John for both Social Psych & Human Sex Behavior. He's a wonderful professor & amazing person. Skipping class is the only way to fail, but lectures are great so you won't want to. Uses real life examples to help understand the material. Exams aren't hard & rarely assigns papers b/c he doesn't have time to read them. Really cares about students!

i took Human Sexual Behavior, and he is an awesome teacher. Will tell you exactly what to study for exams and actually knows and takes an interest in what he is teaching. He also has a good sense of humor that kept the long class bearable. Definitely recommend him to everyone!

Alright class, not terribly hard to make a B. He's lite on theory, having a perspective more akin to a motivational speaker than a psychologist.He also seems to have a problem knowing what's salient when writing a test. But, he makes class interesting and if you can get past his mixed ideology and stick to the book,it's alright.

I had Prof Oliver for Social Psych. It was a very interesting class! He is very nice and makes the class enjoyable. He makes it easy to understand the content of the course. No homework! Two reflections papers and simple in-class questions. I never missed a class because I actually liked going. I definitely recommend this professor!

Dr. Oliver is a wonderful teacher. Class attendance is required, but his lectures are so interesting that you will not want to miss a class. The tests can be difficult, but as long as you study the notes from lecture and read the book, you should be able to pass the class no problem. 2 reflection papers required with no guideline for writing.

Takes a different approach to this class than other teachers. He does not rely on the book, but rather gives you the information you need to ultimately write your own research proposal. There were many assignments to complete in this class, but full credit was awarded as long as they were turned in at this time. I learned a great deal.

I had this professor for social psychology and made a B. I would have made an A if I studied harder. Do not let these posts FOOL you, his tests are HARD! Do take him though. He will keep you the whole class time and give extra credit at times. You have to work HARD for your A, but he is a good and pretty hard professor.

Awesome professor, the best I have had so far in college. Man knows how to keeps lectures interesting, even in a three hour course over the summer. Learned a hell of alot about sexual behavior and didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Tests are tough, but read and take notes and you will live.

THIS GUY IS THE BEST. He loves what he teaches and will answer any questions. he is the main reason i changed my major from sociology to psych! the notes are helpful for exams and you actually want to go to class and learn. i cant see how anyone would bash this guy. hes the greatest professor at UNF i would say!!

He's one of my favorite professors at UNF!! He's really funny and makes lectures very interesting. I honestly thought psychology was boring until I took his class. The tests we took were open book and online. Always ended class 15 minutes early. I highly recommend!!!

Professor Oliver is great, he is funny without even trying. Everyday he teaches he gives you everything you need to prepare for the tests, and to clarify anything for you further. Dr. Oliver DOES NOT get mad. He will show up on time in his ACME trade marked tie, and be ready to rock and roll with his myriad of Apple products.

Class was very interesting! He's hilarious and actually makes class enjoyable. You are allowed to miss like 3 classes but then he subtracts points from your grade after. All test are given online (4) and he puts a review on BB a week before. Must do 3 Sona hours (EASSSSY) and gives extra credit in class. SOOOOO funny and nice! DEFINITELY recommend!

John Oliver is the man. I took his human sexuality class and his lectures were actually really interesting. He has a good sense of humor which keeps the class fun. His tests are online and sometimes tricky but overall awesome class and guy.

Dr. Oliver teaches one of the most interesting classes you will ever take. His Human Sexual Behavior class is phenomenal and he is a great teacher. He is very knowledgable and conveys information very clearly. Homework is often, but consists of simple surveys. Exams are every few weeks and ALWAYS on Blackboard.

If you have an opportunity to take Dr. Oliver, DO IT! I took Human Sexual behavior, Abnormal Psych, and Intro to Counseling with him and I loved them all. He keeps things easy/interesting and has a lot of wisdom and funny stories to share. I would honestly feel comfortable asking him anything

He is a great professor. Attendance is mandatory but he makes the lectures very fun and interesting. There are four tests and there is only a cumulative final IF for some reason you miss one of the other tests. I did not have the book for his class and I passed with a B. The homework is easy, its just surveys. He has extra credit options too!

The lectures were incredible - always interesting and filled with humor. He also offers extra credit that can boost up your final grade. The only issue I struggled with were the tests. They're online so they're open-book, but some of questions are nowhere to be found. I got a B on every test, but I'm usually an A student. Would recommend, though.

Dr. Oliver was great! He's funny, and had a lot of knowledge to spread. Enjoyed his lectures and I really enjoyed how the exams were online, they were timed but I found it easier instead of being crammed in a lecture hall with 200 other students, helps with focus. Gives a lot of extra credit options and really wants his students to pass! 10/10

Dr. Oliver was hilarious and a joy to have as a professor. He's the first professor to make me consider taking a 9 am JUST so I could have him. His tests are timed with about 40 seconds a question, but honestly you either know it or you don't. He provided so much extra credit I ended up with >100%. Show up (attendance counts) and you'll get an A!

Great professor, super chill not very hard. Only 4 quizzes all online. Never used the book. Assignments are easy but very personal. You will lose points if you don't show up.

Honestly one of my favorite professors ever, took him for Sexual Behavior. Four tests, and a ton of assignments. (The assignments are all surveys that take five minutes to fill out on various sex topics.) The way the class is weighed, you could get 70s on each test, but do every assignment and walk out with an A. Hilarious and genuinely caring guy.

Dr. Oliver is really insightful and overall a pleasure to interact with. Homework usually consists of anonymous surveys/questionnaires that, if nothing else, help you understand yourself a little more. The class is informative and useful for the future. The exams are a little challenging, but nothing too difficult.

Guys, I can't rave enough about Professor Oliver. He is a talented and insightful man who also works in the field. His lectures are literally the best I have heard. Coming to his class feels like sitting down and having a one-on-one convo with him. No exams and no quizzes and you don't have to take notes.

This is my second class with Professor Oliver and I loved it just as much as I did taking my first course with him. He truly loves his job and what he teaches. The definition of a perfect professor. Lecture heavy, so make sure you write detailed notes! He does not assign much homework, but make sure you do it because the points add up.

Very easy course that was a pleasure to take. Human Sexual Behavior was taught in a straightforward way that made subject matter not awkward and Professor Oliver made the class very entertaining. Tests are the hardest part but cover things that are gone over in lecture and are relatively easy as long as you have a way to get notes from each class.

professor john is genuinely one of the nicest people I've ever met. even if you never speak in the class he knows who you are and will know if something has changed or not. he just shows that he genuinely cares about his students and the subject matter he teaches.

You get 1 point per every class you attend. Attendance is worth 1 point per class. John Oliver is a very nice professor. Syllabus lays out everything. To be clear, the course is out of 1000 points. First absence takes off 30 points, second takes off 45, third takes off 50. However, there is a lot of extra credit opportunities to make up for an absence. You can get an excused absence by talking to the TA.

Definitely one where you have to show up to pass even though attendance isn't required. He doesn't post his notes or PowerPoints online so there's no way to get the info easily if you don't show up each class. But he was a very good professor and I learned a lot and he's also very funny during his lectures.

Good teacher but gives a lecture all class, every class which can be very tiring. His tests a lot of times are based off of things he makes up which can be a little confusing. other than that he is a funny guy and good teacher.

Be sure to attend class or you will lose a lot of points towards your grades. Lots of Reaction papers for the class so be sure you complete it on time. You need to print ALOT of paper surveys.

10/10 , The lectures are so interesting and he does such a good job of making it engaging. My class was from 9-12:30 and I never got bored!! Make sure you show up, take notes. I took Dr. Olivers Human Sexual Behavior class. He always gives good information and insight on to what we are learning. The course itself was easy and there was usually only one easy assignment a week.

Stress management is an easy class for the most part and the assignments mainly focused on learning something about yourself and then reflecting on it. Highly recommend this class and professor.

I took this class in the summer with Dr. Oliver and it was great. He makes lectures extremely interesting and emphasizes what will be on the test. A great teacher I think everyone should get the chance to take.

Best professor at UNF, it is very hard to be bored during his class due to the fact that his lectures are very entertaining and I learned way more than I thought I would by taking this class. The tests are very easy and match up with the lectures, just take notes and you're guaranteed an A

He was GREAT! He has a lot of experience in a clinical setting which made him great to listen to. He helped me gain a new perspective on myself and counseling. He is a very chill and insightful guy. The class was set up so that the only grades were homework assignments and attendance.

what everyone says about Dr. Oliver is so true. funniest and wisest man ever. somehow I attended every single 9am lecture because his class was that interesting. I want to take every class that man offers.

I have taken three of Dr. Oliver's courses: Human sexual behavior, introduction to counseling, and positive psychology. I would even sometimes sit in his stress management course even though I was not enrolled, not just because the info was useful but because they way he taught it felt invigorating and inspiring, just like all his classes.

Dr. Oliver has been one of my favorite professors at UNF. His lectures are always entertaining and he will answer any question you have. He has crazy examples that will truly allow you to memorize the content. I will look for his classes for the rest of my time at UNF. However, make sure you have access to a printer!!!

Professor Oliver makes this class engaging and enjoyable. Attendance is crucial, but the grading system is fair. Unstuck AI helped me stay on top of the material and succeed.

I loved taking Dr. Oliver's class, though the lectures could be very disengaging. Unexcused abscence results in docking points, though he offers lots of extra credit. Tests are split into four throughout the semester. Be warned about later modules, as theere is a decent amount for psych of sex. Very accommodating when it comes to disabilities!

Loved Dr. Oliver. His exams were online, there was no final, and the only other work was a reaction paper based on what you read in the textbook for the week. He had multiple opportunities for extra credit, all at a high value (30-50 pts ea). Attendance does matter as points are deducted if absent, there are also a handful of exercises and surveys.

Dr. Oliver is absolutely phenomenal. You need to take a class taught by him. I've learned more about myself in this class than I ever have before in my entire life, I think. I'm actually taking him again this semester for Stress Management. Please keep in mind, though, this is a sexual health class. He uses pictures, but don't let that scare you!

Professor Oliver was fantastic! I have taken his courses three times and love his lectures. The TA's are the ones grading everything, and are typically very leniant.

Great professor, there were no tests during the course which was great. There were a few assignments, but you mostly just had to meet the word count and you got credit. His knowledge is great especially because he can give real life examples about everything he is teaching. Attendance is mandatory.

I love listening to his lectures and have already signed up to take him again in the fall, however I wouldn't recommend taking his abnormal psychology class. He makes it pretty clear that this class is not his cup of tea, and talks about how he likes his positive psychology approach better. Amazing professor but just not for this subject.

This is the second class ive taken with Dr. Oliver. His classes are very engaging, and he is an excellent teacher. I really appreciate how he uses our class time to talk about the class, unlike most other teachers. In my opinion, one of the best, if not best, at UNF.

If you have the chance to take Dr. Oliver's sexual developments class i would highly recommend it. This class truly changed my outlook on relationships, sex, and love. The professor does a great job at keeping a light hearted energy. He also is not scared to crack a joke. Only regret is that I did not take his Love class as well.

This is my second time having Dr. John, and I enjoyed it way more. Psychology of love is really interesting and he is an amazing lecturing. If you are sensitive/easily annoyed about hearing about gender roles you should take this class, but other than that it is really easy. Outside of lectures there is a final paper and small weekly exercises.
