he is a nice guy, but does not know how to apply the concept. makes you outline every chapter and e-mail it to him (a waste of time). If you want nap time sign up for his class

he's very understandable and he's not tough at all.he's just trying to teach students something interesting so thay can also remember it.

He has a bad reputation for being hard but most of the people who complain don't want to do any work. He knows his stuff and you will learrn once you get through the course

If you are not willing to open the text and do a lot of reading he is not the professor for you, but his class does prepare you for anything another professor could throw at you. He is helpful all around. Oh, and do atleast a few outlines (trust me) and then argue that it doesn't help.

Tests are IMPOSSIBLE. All essays - 10 min per essay - 6 essays in ONE HOUR - no exceptions. Very boring class but you really do learn from him. Aside from being a difficult teacher, he's a nice guy who cares about the students. He just has a different method of teaching.

This is a challenging class, but anybody taking this course is most likely headed to some medical or research field and this is nothing compared to classes you will face in the future. Anybody willing to work their butt off for a semester can easily achieve an A. If you are ambitious and want to be challenged by a class Dr. Oppenheimer is the best.

If you want to learn biology and not forget everything the day after the test take him. Excellent professor, very helpful. If you want to challenge yourself take him. His essays seem horrible at first but all he asks for is an answer in an essay format which shouldnt be very difficult if you study the material. Fair grader.

He is a genius and takes improvement into consideration when grading. He gives you lots of feedback and suggestions,and lots of chances to improve your grade wih extra credit assignments. I failed the first test,didn't do real well on the second either, but there was improvement. Buckled down for the final and got an A- .Anyway, this is college!

this is the BEST professor I had at CSI! I enjoyed his class very much and learned a great deal. He essay exams are challenging, but if you study you can do well. He is very helpful and accessible.

He is the hardest professor I've ever had, but he actually makes your learn like you've probably never learned before. He makes you change you study habits, so be prepared for a major change in your brain function.

Really good proffessor. Yes he is hard but the way he teaches as well as the outline (DO THEM WILL HELP ALOT) he makes us do really help. If he sees you trying even though you do get not so good grades he will help you at the end as much as he can

Okay I am gonna admit he is a tuff professor but his tests are fair and if you read and understand the book you should do well enough to get a B. His tests are essays and I havent seen him give anyone over a 90. He is always ready to help you, if he see's you participating and doin his magic outlines he'll def be leniant, i think?

I must say that he is a tramendously great professor, he knows his work and for people that give him a bad rating I must say that they must be out of their mind. If you take a class like Biology, you must know that it is not a joke and if your going to be at a practice dealing with patients you must know have some knowledge. He is definitly willing

he is famous and knows everything there is to know about bio, take him, he cares about helping his students 100% thats why he is so hard on them, only about 2 ppl per class achieve A but you be forced to learn much more in this class than in any other so u must dedicate a lot of time to studying!

OMg save yourself. This class is a nightmare, all the test are in essay form, and you only get 10 min per essay. he is a tough grader. Nice guy but not worth the headache. If you do take the class do the outlines they do help.

I loved this professor. He made the class interesting because he is extremely enthusiastic about the subject and if you show up to class and read the book you will start liking biology as well. He is not as tough as everyone thinks, if you listen to his lectures, he always points out what parts are important and they usually appear on the tests.

I'm taking thisnprofessor right now . So far he seem like. A fair an helpful guy. If you don't understand anything in the text he will explain it to you. Let me tell you something I have tried to do one of his out line for chapter 16 and I had only had time to recovered the transcription but not translation in 2 n 1/2 hour. It take 5 hour!!

Well, he is quite interesting, he has studied primates during his career. He is tough, but if you are a bio major, you will see that he is not alone on that. He will not say everything you need to know in class, so I suggest you read the book and do outlines as he stresses if you seek a high grade.

Essay-form exams.You MUST read the book and DO outlines. Emphasizes learning over memorization. Takes into consideration effort and improvement. If your goal is to truly learn and pursue a Doctorate or a Medical degree, this is the class to take. Will prepare you for what's coming.

I don't know why people don't like this prof... he is helpful and will understand you if you talk to him about your issues in class...biology it's not an easy class so don't think that you'll pass his tests if you did not read the material

His level of difficulty will only prepare you for med school.... If you cannot do well in his class med school will eat you alive.

His class is hard. No doubt. BUT I you do the outlines the way he wants YOU WILL PASS. The first test, I did no outlines. I got a 22/100. Second test, I did the outlines. I printed out the txtbk and highlighted what he said and made my outline from that. I got an 84/100. I did the same thing for the third test and got a 95/100. I went from a F to an A just by doing the outlines. He curves the exams by at least 14 points. Do what I said w/ the outlines! You will pass with at least a B!!

Hard class but not if you have the lab book . Just highlight what he says and type it up, then study it for a couple of hours. Guaranteed to get you at least an A. I was failing in the beginning of the semester ( with an F) but then I did the afore mentioned and got an A in the class. It is hard, but not impossible.

These really help.At first I was reluctant to write/highlight in the text. I grew up in the era of "Don't write in books". Got over that and started studying more. Went from an F to an A- .

Dr. Oppenheimer's method has a precise purpose for it, if you follow his directions & learn his carefully crafted outline technique you will see the results not only on his tests but in other classes. While during lecture he doesn't seem as a very nice or caring guy, he does however dedicate much of his effort & attention to help (he does care!)

I went back college after 5 years and unfortunately got him as bio professor. He keeps telling you to do outlines which I later realized were very helpful but i was too late for it. Thought i never passed any of his test but he did not fail me and instead gave me an INCOMPLETE. He saved my transcript from destruction. He is way more than great

I took Dr. Oppenheimer back in the 90s and I can see that he is the same. The best way do well in his class is to read before going to class. Record the lecture and take copious notes. Review the notes and go back to the book. He is very detail oriented and you will become an expert in the subject matter. Then test yourself on your own.
