tough but fair. more lively than expected for a dull course.
Worst class ever in first year! First time ever teaching and he was horrible! Although he was a nice person, his quizzes and midterms were ridiculous. Does not specify what's on it, tells us its easy and it ends up being extremely hard. Midterm was all writing, very very long and the average was so low. I would not recommend this prof to anyone!
midterm was very time consuming, have to know everything inside out to complete it if you want a decent mark
not sure what class others are in cos we knew almost exactly what was on mid-term and tests. he's usually funny, always has office hours. far better than i was afraid of in a first year course
Very nice teacher! He wants to see his students do well and is always willing to help. He is available all the time for office hours and actually treats you like a person not just another student. His midterm and quizzes are a bit difficult – you really need to know your stuff to do well. Boring topic but he tries to make it interesting.
hard midterm. is nice and willing to help.
Pretty good professor, teaches well and has a very interactive class. Midterm and quizzes are hard, so you'll need to study hard for them. Highest mark in the class going into the final was an 86%.
Made a dull course interesting. Knows some pretty cool people as well, had some very interesting people come and do presentations. Always there for students 100% of the time, always has office hours, very nice to talk to. You'll have to do a fair amount of work. Very fair marker, Highly recommended.
Got him for 2372 but have not seen any ratings for him in this. Maybe its his first time Seems to know the topic and can be funny in class. Lots of group assignments but that seems to be same across all sections of the class. Tries to get class involved. Will see how the term goes fingers crossed.
This professor has the hardest midterms(If you want a good mark, I wouldn't take this class) but the final is easy. No clue what he wants from you, but he is way more interesting to listen to than the other prof that teaches this course. You can tell he enjoys teaching this class. You gain some and you lose some.
This prof is simply amazing. He makes classes so enjoyable for a course that you could easily hate. He was always there for office hours and answers emails. Extremely nice and funny. Would definitely recommend him for MIS.
John Palmer was an angel sent from above for clarity of his expectations and somehow kept his students coming back for more(maybe it was the in-class cases everyday of the semester ;). He'll grade you easy for everything barring the midterm and finals! Also don't forget NUMBER ONE GEEK IN UOTTAWA :)
This class was odd: not the prof I signed up for. He started first lecture on ethics and culture - WHY? But by the end (especially final lecture) it was clear he cared not only about the topic, and helping us learn and pass, but also about us as people. I would sign up for anything with his name on it! uOttawa needs more like him!
This class can be challenging if you do not have a tech background. The material can be hard to understand and I don't believe the prof explained it very well. This prof goes on long tangents and I found his lectures really boring. The exams are tough so if you want to do well, make sure you study hard.
Fantastic prof! I had him twice now and would jump at the chance to have him again. He makes dry, technical content relevant and very clear and throws in some jokes or stories to help keep the mood light. There are a lot of group case studies though and his exams are tough but if you study hard (book + lec. notes) and have a good group, you're set.
Amazing professor, midterms and final are tough. Need to read the slides and textbook to do well. make sure you do well on group projects. Had him for 3 hours and loved every class. Don't be afraid to talk to him, he loves talking to students.
Mr Palmer was great! He is great with blackboard and updates it regularly, the assignments get graded fairly quickly, he is clear on what he wants and explains everything really well. Great at answering emails and reassuring students about concerns. Overall he was an amazing prof. The midterm was really tough but he tries to prepare the students.
Great prof! very animated. Great feedback on assignments. A lot of memorization for the exams. Though mid-term. Group project can turn sour with the team. He is happy to help, probably the most approachable prof you will know. He is funny and very interactive with the class, even with 160 students.
Wow! Amazing Prof! If you have the option to take his class, please do! He is so helpful and truly cares about his students. He answers emails quickly and grades everything quickly. He is very clear on what he expects and if you are not understanding something he is more than happy to help. Midterm was difficult.
Amazing professor I would definitely take any of his courses again. Interactive teaching style, truly cares about his students and the subject matter at hand. Great guy in general, believed in what he was teaching, and great at responding to any concerns you may have. Not an easy class, but it was far and away my favourite class of the semester. :)
Amazing prof! By far my favourite one from this semester! Makes boring 3 hour lectures really interactive and he is always willing to listen to everyones opinions. Highly recommend him! Although, to do well you must attend every lecture, read the text book and study hard. Exams were tough!
Professor Palmer was simply AMAZING ! He explained the material thoroughly and provides the students with many examples and tried really hard to answer your questions. He is always available and is reliable. I loved this class so much and his teachings ! Lots of group discussions. His exam really reflected what was being taught in class, easy A+ !
He's a little bit of a know it all and full of himself. Although I may not be fond of this professor his lectures are engaging and useful, especially when you take into account the course material that he is teaching.
Great professor, he is passionate, goofy and very engaging. He explains the content clearly. One down fall is the lack of time we had for in class case studies, but it is manageable. He also cares for his students and wants us to pass.
LOVE LOVE LOVE john palmer. literally my favorite prof at uottawa. he is extremely helpful and clear with his expectations and his projects and tests all completely reflect what is done in class- he does a great job of prepping you for your tests and always offers extra help. Hes got a lot of great experience which he regularly applies in lectures
Well, he tried. Had him for MIS in the summer, and he tried to get the class to discuss things, but failed. Our fault not his. At least made enough jokes so that the summer wasn't a write off. Seems better than most profs.
Great Prof, definitely recommend him if you are taking MIS. Funny, passionate and clear criterias for the class. The book and attendance is a must. Loved this course because of him.
There are lots of little assignments to keep you busy. There are reflections due almost every week or so, as well as a group assignment. 2 midterms and a final. He is a knowledge prof that cares about his students. I really liked him.
Pretty boring subject but a good prof and makes the class interesting. Tests were fairly easy and its not hard to get a good mark
Seriously the best prof I've had in 4 years at Telfer. He's super open and has discussions in class that are funny but relevant and keep you engaged. Midterms + final are super fair and reflections take minimal time to complete. Would take several other classes with him if I were an HR student.
Professor Palmer is extremely knowledgeable in many areas of business. Most of all, he is not a condescending professor who is only in it for the research. Palmer truly cares about his students, reputation, grades, and most of all learning. By far the best professor of my undergrad even with a mediocre course
Comes prepared to class and keeps the class engaged. Seems very knowledge, especially public sector HR. One thing that Professor Palmer could learn from was announcing the exam format more clearly. He changed the midterm format 3 times before the exam (from multiple choice only to chap1-8 to chap1-7) and we had do do a second part for the midterm..
Class context is boring but prof is not bad. Midterm is hard and all points are important, you have to review and try to memorize the textbook if you want to get good mark
John was a great prof, mid term multiple choice were a bit tough but he easied them up on the final. Made a 3 hour lecture tolerable. Lots of content of in class is tested so make sure you attend. The weekly assignments are just easy grades if you complete them. Overall great class
Great prof, loves teaching and cares about his students. Be careful to read textbook material in depth though... His lectures don't cover everything and test banks won't save you for short-answer and case study questions in the final. Don't hesitate to speak with him about any concerns you have, lectures are lots of fun.
Palmer knows what he is talking about. He relates the majority of material to experiences and events in the real world. Plamer makes the boring material lively and interesting, making his lectures very enjoyable. Always answers questions and has class discussions. Genuinly cares about his students and improving others. Wonderful Prof!
The course content is an especially steep curve, especially for me leading up to the midterm which affected my view on the course. I didn't like the course, but he seemed to engage in discussions in where to improve the course and had some insightful discussions too. Be ready to work on assignments though!
Has an awkward comedy routine whivh made his 3 hour class more bearable. Constantly begins and encourages class participation, and stopped several kids from taking the final for not showing up to too many classes. Posts everything online. Overall great prof.
I really enjoyed professor Palmer's style, he put issues to us in a way I could understand and cared about the classes success without babying or going soft on those who didnt try. Favourite class of the semester when I expected to hate it! Legend!
he genuinely cares about his students and wants to them to do better. midterms and final were fair, the group project was a pain and the weekly assignments were an easy 10% if you did them correctly (also, dont buy the textbook) . overall, best first year prof i had and would take him again. Also, he loves answering students questions, so ask!
Taking his 7-10 was the best choice I made in first year. The midterm was really hard but the final and group project went really well. Going to class and doing those weekly assignments are really important if you want an A. He is a super great prof and I highly recommend taking his class.
He is a good guy, though the lecture is extremely boring. I have to read all the chapters of the textbook for the final, while eventually felt like learning nothing.
I loved his 7-10!!!! My favourite course first year. You could tell that he really puts effort into every single lecture and you never feel like you are FORCING yourself to go, you'll go because you want to and take something out of everything that he says!
Overall great prof. Lectures tend to be a little boring due to the subject material. He tried really hard to make it less dull and tries to get the class to participate. Study the textbook and you will have no problem passing and doing well.
Alrite prof but nothing to write home about. I feel like I just learned more about his personal life than course material. He really has trouble staying on topic unfortunately. 3 hr lectures will have like 40 minutes of applicable information. Expectations for this course are fairly unclear throughout the course.
He says the course is being rebuilt, which is good. It's the worst textbook in the world. He did add a lot of unique stuff - some of it challenging - and added good chunks of humour to make it palatable. He makes a bad course livable.
You can tell that he is a prof with passion, but he makes the midterm of this pointless course way too hard than it is supposed to be.
The prof with no doubts is good at delivering a lecture. However, the midterm and final made me feel like I was taking a master degree class rather than the first-year class, they are definitely the hardest exams I have ever written so far.
John palmer is the sweetest prof ever, very caring ,very understanding of students' difficulties. Really easy grader and gives a lot of part marks even if you don't answer the question completely. The midterm was easy but the final was okay. He gives great examples an class and never lets you get bored in a 3 hour lecture. Just go for him.
His lectures are great, he's extremely knowledgeable, and he makes a relatively boring course a tad more enjoyable with his lessons. BUT! His midterm and final exam are stupidly difficult, like unnecessarily so. Marking takes way too long and feedback is minimal. Also doesn't properly respond to emails or concerns in a timely manner.
His teaching skills are not questionable without a doubt, but his midterm and final were the hardest thing I have ever written since I came to this university. The prof needs to change the format and level of difficulty for this course's exams as it is impossible for a first-year student to answer such tough questions.
This prof was the best in my whole 4 years of university! I'm very sad that I only met him in my last year. He is very genuine and understands the struggles of the students. He said to us that he isn't there to make us fail and I have never heard a prof say that before. His lectures are awesome with lots of examples and his exams are fair.
Honesty a sweetheart, although his tests are tricky. I advise going to the lectures as he gives hints to what will be tested (if he says he loves a topic, make note of this as it will probably be on the test). Some stuff on tests will only be talked about in class (not in slides or textbook). Does take attendance on rare occasions
Good prof, but the final was ridiculous.
He is an amazing prof with lots of care for students. He showed care not only in students' scores but also in their future development and mental health. His lecture was interesting and always not up to 3 hrs. He was also my prof for the ADM3333 class. I would say he prefers to use group projects and short answer questions as evaluating criteria
I went to one class and left early, never bought the textbook and never bothered to look at the class decks (around 70 slides each).
BEST PROF YOU WILL HAVE
Palmer gives interesting lectures. However, he is extremely rude to his students and makes his course expectations very unclear.
Very kind and understanding professor, does his best to help you succeed!
He is a wonderful prof. Cares a lot about his students and you can clearly see he likes his job. His lecture are interesting and super fun! But beware to do lots of work. His assignment are really demanding and will take lots of your time but he is clear about his expectation.
Best professor I've had! He delivers amazing lectures that keep you interested. You can tell he really cares about his students. 10/10 recommend.
If you have to take ADM1301, I highly recommend taking it with him! He is an excellent professor, has great lectures, and especially out of all the professors this semester, gave a fair and manageable paper as a midterm. I am very happy that I switched into his class, and I would absolutely recommend taking any course with him!
Prof Palmer is not used to online education yet. He dose give amazing lectures for sure which makes me want to take his class again offline. During online classes, he's not accessible outside of class and not very caring. He gave a 15 pages essay instead of midterm for a first year class and the rubric for group project is not clear at all. Sad.
His lectures are bang average, the only good thing about it is that he talks about the syllabus and brings up stuff that is about 30% assignments that are not on the syllabus.
His lectures are good but he brings up content included on assignments after they are due and changes his mind last minute. He sometimes comes across as snarky when you email him a question.
Not accessible outside of class. Assigns reports on material that he will teach AFTER the assignment due date. This means you need to read the entire textbook on your own within the first month so that you're able to do the first assignment. Does not provide timely feedback. We have 2 weeks left and haven't received a single mark back. Avoid.
Professor Palmer was absolutely FANTASTIC. Great lectures, made it super easy to understand. Answered all questions comprehensively and respectfully. 4th year student at the time of writing this, Prof Palmer is EASILY in my top 3 favourite profs. HIGHLY RECOMEND!!
Despite the content of his courses not necessarily being my passion, he is clearly very knowledgeable on his material and often pauses to ask if we're still following (giving you ample time to "raise your hand" and ask a question. I would not chose to re-take any classes, but I wouldn't mind getting this prof again :)
John is a really good professor and one of my favorites. His class was made up of an individual assignment, and a group assignment, and a final. This was not decided by him, but I enjoyed writing a paper instead of a midterm. Yes, you had to read the content ahead of time welcome to uni, Finally the marks came late but this was out of his control!
This professor was really good and he made the lectures interesting to watch while online. At the end of the course, he made a quiz to not use respondus on our exam, which most people didn't know about so they were mad about that, but not a big deal as we didn't end up using it anyways. Aside from that, decent teacher and interesting lectures.
Prof Palmer was awesome, he is so kind, responsive, and his lectures are hilarious, fun and informative. He is one of the nicest profs I've had the privilege of having and I would totally take him again!
The class was quite good because there aren't many chapter readings and the work is mainly assignments. People found the individual report to be hard but if you follow the rubric closely you will get an easy A. Professor Palmer's lectures are really good and he answers all questions during class. You will have to use Respondus for online learning.
Professor Palmer has been so excellent this semester! If you have to take ADM1301, I HIGHLY recommend taking it with him. He is an excellent, fair, and caring prof. I cannot recommend him enough, and I would absolutely take any courses with him in the future. He has done an excellent job throughout a difficult and unusual semester.
Professor Palmer is a terrific professor. Teaching a course based on business ethics, it is no doubt that this professor cares about his personal ethics. If you are ever unsure about something in the course material or the syllabus, reach out to him. He is very fair, takes the time to answer questions, and is very responsive.
Prof gives amazing/engaging lectures, assigns fair/clear work, and is one of the most compassionate teachers I have ever met. He truly wants his students to succeed. Not only is he a good teacher, but he's also someone you can go to outside of class for a meaningful conversation. If ur reading this, thank you for getting me through a tough semester
One of the nicest profs I've had in Telfer so far. Adapted his lectures very well to online learning but i'd love to take some of his courses again in future years.
Great professor. You can really tell that he cares about his subject and his students. He takes time to answer questions and does it in a non-condescending way. He is a very fair grader, not too easy and not too hard. Would take classes from him again 10/10.
Overall, his approach to teaching keeps students highly engaged and interested during lectures. His expectations are fair when it comes to grading, and is very understanding, considering the difficulties of online learning. Great professor to have for my first year course.
Amazing Professor and knows what he's talking about. He made sure to answer any questions outside of class and respected all of his students. He would make sure to have fun with the online classes and even though it was a 3 hour class I always looked forward to it. He told us what was expected and the due dates way ahead of time. Amazing Prof!!
Very good energy, but does not give a lot of preparations. No exam review whatsoever, no practice exam or units of emphasis.
Definitely one of my favourite profs so far. Many of my other profs made exams super hard this semester which took a huge toll on my grades and was not helpful, considering the challenges of online learning. This prof, however, made sure the exam was reasonable and fair. He is one of those profs that really care about the success of their students!
Prof. Palmer was awesome. He was a great introduction to University as a first-year. He cracks jokes and tells great stories relevant to the content. He doesn't have many assignments, but the ones he does give are A LOT with some group work. The exams weren't too bad and very much passable with the right amount of dedication. I would reccomend
I have never written any poor review for a professor before but I feel that I need to warn other students that Professor Palmer is someone you do NOT want to have. He is so rude when answering emails, he marks very harshly, he talks non-stop about his personal life and other stuff that no one cares about, and overall is an unnecessarily mean prof.
Talks a lot about useless stuff and wastes your time. Save yourself and take someone else
Snarky when answering emails and overall rude prof also marks harshly
Rudest prof I have ever had. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
Snarky, rude, and self condescending when answering emails. Talks too much about personal life and marks harshly
Hes okay but if you can take another prof
Not sure how one person could hold so many grudges to bother leaving so many untrue 1 star reviews. Professor Palmer has been nothing but the kindest, most caring, and fair professor at Telfer. I've never had a prof who provides the best for students the way he does, I cant recommend him enough! If you see him available, TAKE HIM! You won't regret.
He is the stingiest prof I have had. Please avoid at all costs.
please avoid him
Very rude prof
The prof has great lectures. The con of the prof: do not have a great attitude toward students that especially have questions and problems about respondus. The exam is fair, if you listen to the lecture carefully, you can get a "B".We also get an individual assignment, you need to read extra content to answer some of the questions.
Professor Palmer is one of the most compassionate professors you'll encounter. His lectures are fun, and his assignments/final were fair! The course itself is very interesting and useful.
He is so chill, funny, and great prof! He is not stingy! He is straight to the point. U should read the module before lectures. His quizzes are fair. If u have a good teammate, ur assignments should be good. The final exam was harder. Its my fault; I didnt study the right things! So u should know a little about every concept (his notes, ppt, book).
I sent him an e-mail asking a simple question & he replied rudely & implied I'm wasting his time. He said my e-mail was too long but it was 5 sentences including a polite intro & brief explanation of my question with some added context. He refused to look into my concern (which is fine) but he really made me feel badly for even having e-mailed him.
It's clear that the good reviews are from John and not the students. Since this is my first review and there are several students with the same issue.
His efforts for the well-being of students at the minimum. He teaches part time, i felt like he doesnt take the job seriously. Not so caring to the students. The night before the final exam i realized i havent learned much in this course. Not Recommended.
Very chill prof, he is actually interested in what he teaches and takes criticism constructively. He is very approachable and really gives good discussion in points given in chat. He understands students have other courses and is aware of busy workloads and tries to help students. I will see how the rest of the semester goes.
Instead of hearing out students when they questioned him on stuff, he took many of it as a personal attack and seemed to want to make enemies out of students while claiming how unproblematic he is. I shied away from voicing some of my concerns directly to him because of the unhelpful/unfriendly answers other students received.
If I could travel back to four months ago, I would never take this blokes class. His behaviour felt like he was high on something, which is a good thing since his unlimited energy certainly entertained me. But his exams and assignments were tough and irrelevant to the textbook. He might be good for physical classes, but he is certainly bad online.
As much as I love John Palmer's personality, I wouldn't say he fits the job as a professor. He is always very talkative, chill, easy-going, and keep the class fun. Give lots of time for you to work on the class project, give help whenever needed. Would be a great TA that engage you into conversations, but talk too much off-topics in class.
Not even halfway into the term and he is my fave prof. Why have you business guys been keeping him to yourself???? Blew me away when he talked about his concern for our mental health. Dude is legit.
Some people are so full of it. I was in the online Fall 2020 1301 class. Prof was 100% caring, responsive, clear on expectations. The only time he was a bit snippy was when 3 of you literally ganged up on him because he made a decision that was fair to EVERYONE, not just them. Some people just blame others.
This professor brings good energy to his lectures and seems very kind however, I learned more about his family than the course itself. The midterm was challenging and his lectures were not helpful and did not prepare us. Your best bet is to focus on the textbook if you have him. Not to be rude but academically speaking, try and avoid.
I spent 30 dollars buying a question booklet for practice so that I could master the class, but this prof gave us an exam that was totally imaginary and irrelevant. I am here to get a degree, not here to become a master HR professional. The midterm exam was a total trap that was designed to depress students. Please avoid him.
Professor Palmer is one of the best professor I have had during my time at UOTTAWA. He transformed my way of thinking into more creative ways to develop an argument. I don't have any thing bad to say about Prif Palmer because he treat all of us with respect during the lectures.
Avoid this prof if you can. This guy is terrible with the online technology and he makes the deliverables way harder than other classes. He also seems to talk more about his personal life than the actual course content.
The slowest grader at the University of Ottawa award goes to Johnny Palmer! Absolutely preposterous. He takes emails as personal attacks and avoids helping the student at all costs. He seemed like a great guy talking about playing cricket in the first week of classes, turns out he shouldn't even be a part-time prof, ridiculous. Avoid JOHN!
Had Prof Palmer before the COVID mess. I really wish all profs were as HUMAN as he is during online stuff. I'm in 3rd yr now, and looking back all these complaints I read are what ended up making him the BEST prof not the worst. You want a robot: take another prof. You want a caring, living, laughing human being: take Prof Palmer.
I haven't gotten my final grade back yet because I don't want that to influence my review. All I wanna say is John Palm, if you're reading this (and I know you read your reviews), I wanna say thank you for being such a caring soul about mental health during these times that have been undoubtedly stressful for so many. This guy is a pure human being
A genuinely nice human being, but lets his emotions get in the way of teaching. Doesn't appreciate being emailed and is absolutely obsessed with the Respondus Lockdown browser; completely dismisses students wishes for privacy when it comes to Respondus and tried to force us into using it. He is knowledgeable of the material and lectures decent.
Palmer likes to say that he's fair, but that is farcical. He lets his ego get in the way of being a good prof and he is condescending in emails. He sent an aggressive email to our class because people (understandably) left some bad reviews on rate my prof. He called the people who left these reviews "unethical" for making false claims.
I would rather go through the blood eagle process than take this profs class again. This geezer does not teach by the book, so it really adds extra pressure since there is no way that you can attend every lecture under the current situation. Midterm and final exams are just some made-up gibberish to mug everyone off so that u will respect PALMER.
The final was 100 long multiple choice questions in 2 hours like are you kidding me? I barely had time the read through the question I had to move on to the next one. Wants to trap his students, not help them.
john is a decent teacher but conveys the material in such a draining way. He always seems to be constantly going off on tangents that some how result in him talking about an accomplishment of his. Definitely an ego driven teacher and overall conveys a condescending tone. Half the time I find myself asking why Im attending the lectures in the first
The lad is passionate about the subject he is teaching, as you can tell from his limitless energy. But what frustrates me is his "Palmer supremacy" over exams, which are hard to prepare for them since textbook content is useless and most questions are from his random gibberish. I am knackered and gutted because this is my first in-person class.
Bad prof. Always talked about how low his rate my prof ratings were. Definitely makes you work for your grades- completing the work isn't enough and you have to go "above and beyond". Didn't open the textbook once, casebook wasn't important either so don't buy them. Uncompromising when it comes to assignments and is passive aggressive in emails.
This Professor is a horrible grader, you would have the impression that he doesnt want you do to well. He uses the peer evaluation to deduct a big chunk of your mark and a lot of us have found that unfair. Indeed, if you have an average of 7/10 for the peer evaluation hell still find a way to deduct like +10% of your final group mark. AVOID HIM
It is funny how a prof who teaches business ethics ends up having the most unethical grading system. What you say on the peer evaluation form worths more grades than your actual project. I don't know if this is the culture of Telfer or his teaching style only. But if other Telfer profs are like him, I am going back to grade 12 and apply for Ivey.
The whole class was like a stage for him to show off his skills and talents. The use of a stupid peer evaluation system dropped my group grades down just because I didn't explain much on why I graded my peers 10/10. If I must have learned something in his class, it would be to comment on my team members in the same length as an essay in the future.
Horrible grading for the group project. Even if you are rated highly you will end up losing at least 5-10 % of your mark purely from peer evaluation. If you can take 1301 with someone else then do it.
Don't take this prof he does not grade fairly at all. Get ready to lose marks over the smallest things. I asked him to regrade my paper and he reduced my mark by 15% even though I followed everything on the rubric. The prof talks too much about himself and useless examples in class. Very long lectures and hard to stay focused bc of boring material.
He was so bad, I wanted to give him a zero but that's not possible so I give him a 1. This teacher makes this class more complicated then it should be. He gives little to no information and is quick to deducts marks. If you have the possibility take this course with another teacher, you'll find it more easy. Also, no practice questions for final.
The group project ruined the whole course. confusing system, dropping my gpa. i have high 80s and 90s in every course and I understand the material so well for this class but the way its marked doesn't make any sense. very stressed and worried, don't know how I'm gonna do well now
Although he seems like a fun guy overall, his class is very stressful and lecture loaded. He doesnt give reviews or a proper outline for his exam and is a very tough marker for the individual project and group. The peer evaluation is a big mark in the mark which is bull and if something goes wrong in your presentation he doesnt stop the timer.
He's funny I'll give him that. His lectures are super heavy, so much info in the slideshows it is a copy of the textbook. He isn't super helpful when you ask questions about assignments. The group project is 30% of your grade so you better hope you have good teammates, the weight of peer evaluations is extreme. Some exam questions weren't taught
Energetic in lectures but lacks in focus, boring, also rambles. Unclear and bad grading criteria for group project. Exam is designed to make you suffer and lose marks. Pace yourself for a 15-20 pg report that is marked without real consideration.
When emailing him outside of class he gets weirdly mad when you ask specific questions he doesn't like. The peer evaluation system on the group project was terrible lowered everyone's grade for no reason. The final exam had questions that weren't even taught and for exam review, we only got 3 questions for an exam worth 40% which is ridiculous.
If you can take Palmer or Levasseur TAKE PALMER. To start, Palmer is alright he's not the best or the worst prof I've ever had. He makes lectures somewhat entertaining and he seems to teach the subject well. The group project peer evaluation is one of the stupidest metrics I've ever seen which lowered many peoples' marks. The exam was very random.
John Palmer has to be the most egotistical person I've ever met. If he spent less time talking about himself his lectures might be a little shorter. He claims to care about his students but his condescending tone to students questions and concerns says otherwise. Few assignments/tests are given and they are all graded tough.
Doesnt like answering questions outside of class hours. Grading system inconsistent and unfair, plays the good prof. Reviews for important projects are non existent and grading system not fair. I personally will avoid this prof at all cost
He is the type of professor who may not have solved the problem right away, but he will make certain that all problems are resolved in the end. People are giving him one star because of the peer evaluation issue, which he has already resolved. TA for this class was 5 stars.
Palmer is NOT as bad as this year has been saying. High school students who weren't ready for a university course are the ones complaining. The group project was rough for sure-but all group projects are. If your group members actually like you and you do your work-then you'll be absolutely fine. Watch his lectures on 2x speed and you're set w John
I liked how instead of midterms we had assignments which honestly was so nice but I only wish that he gave us more exam prep questions cuz the exam wasn't too bad but going into it we had 0 idea what to even expect, except that it would basically cover every single thing we covered in the course. i also made the mistake of taking a 3 hr class AVOID
Prof Palmer is good. Attend his lectures (or watch recordings at x2) and you'll do fine. Individual Assignment was graded fairly. Group project was easy. His lectures could be half the time if the subject was taught with less personal opinion or stories, though did make the course interesting. Exam was standard but you have no idea what to focus on
For this class, there was no midterm test, only an assignment and group project. The projects didn't reflect much of the course, and I felt I haven't learned much throughout the semester. He also tends to get off topic a lot, making it challenging to concentrate in his class. Don't recommend him.
Prof Palmers lectures go so fast you physically do not have time to type the notes let alone write them. Your looking at 45-50 slides per class plus him insisting that reading the text is mandatory. The group project was used to lower mostly everyones grades when it should have been used to boost the grades of those that carried the team.
Pretty chill guy. Lectures were easy to follow and he gave a lot of interesting examples. His lectures were a lot like having a conversation as opposed to listening to a presentation. Individual assignment was easy, just takes time & write exactly what the rubric says. There is also a group assignment and presentation which weren't too difficult
Avoid this prof. I did decent in the class but he is a really tough person to deal with and his expectations are not clear. Exam has nothing to do with the course.
Graded more on written papers than tests. Cares about his students.
Really enjoyed the way he delivered the sometimes dry material. His funny anecdotes helped me focus during some long lectures. Make sure to read the whole textbook and watch all of the lectures before the exam, as there will be content not covered in the slides.
I really enjoyed the material of the class and the way Prof John delivered lectures. There was one essay, one group case study, and a final exam. The essay was graded harder than I had expected but it was still fair. He doesn't record his lectures so make sure to show up for class or you'll miss out on a lot of information. Overall, nice guy.
Honestly, I prof. Palmer's class was my first lecture in university ever. I walked out of there feeling motivated and happy to be there. However, as the semester progressed he began lacking empathy and being very passive aggressive with emails and even when you speak to him in person. He's okay but there are better profs for sure.
dry, passive aggressive, switches up his "nice" personality after like week 3. don't believe the good comments/reviews on here, he writes them himself.
The one and only ADM1301 prof this semester, and he only gives you the choice to take this class from 7-9 in a -20 degree winter. Make the class unnecessarily hard to force you to pay attention to his class, but the lectures can hypnotize you to sleep. My high school teacher said only Ivey, Smith or Schulich can teach you something. She's right.
Class was online so I can't speak for the people who took him in-person, but his lectures and grade schemes were well planned and communicated properly. Lectures were tedious at times but he made them fun by asking questions, sharing stories and giving breaks.
Honestly, he may or may not be your cup of tea, it really depends on the type of learner you are. Apart from first year courses, he's an extremely easy grader on reports/presentations. His quizzes on the other hand can be a hit or miss because of oddly specific (and irrelevant) questions. He's pretty engaging and fun (loves to flex his life tho)
Unwilling to change group project marks if your peers rate you poorly even if you contributed heavily to the group project. Get a group that rates you otherwise you'll end up with a terrible mark you can't change. Long boring lectures and a weird format for the final exam.
Prof Palmer is a really great guy ! Sometimes hard with the students but really nice in general. The final was really easy and simple. If you have the chance to take him in the ADM 1301 class just do it.
Professor Palmer made sure he made his class interesting. He cares about all his students, if you need help, or just want more information he will find time to help! This class was great would recommend it!
This professor is awful. He is extremely passive aggressive and does not care about his students at all. Many groups misunderstood the instructions of an assignment and we were willing to put in extra work to improve by doing an extra case that was already formulated and would not allow it. Exams are also confusing and tests memory not knowledge.
The worst.
He is a harsh grader despite providing vague instructions or ambiguous questions. Will then proceed to test specific memory in an HR class which should test for knowledge. Does not listen to student feedback, and writes it off, even telling students not to look at ratemyprof because "nobody uses it anymore" to save face.
Aww...poor muffins get all mad that a professor actually expects you to attend class, and expects you to submit things on time. This isn't kindergarten, it's university. Grow up and blame yourself. Prof was totally open about exams, assignments, and clearly cares about us as both students and adults. Would take again.
Super clear about how the assignments are graded. There is minimal stress trying to guess what he expects. Always answers his emails within 48 hours, including Thanksgiving. You won't feel discouraged asking him questions. Individual project was easy & group members were fair when they rated me, final next week. Good experience. Would recommend.
I did not listen to the warnings of the previous students and I continued in his class. He made the entire semester a nightmare! Seriously a nightmare. Passive-aggressive and egotistical. He is a very harsh grader, vague about the requirements of his assignments! If you want to stay mentally healthy avoid him at all costs!
AVOID THIS GUY. MY WORST NIGHTMARE. Tries so much to make people like him. Don't fall for his fake nice guy act. he is super pick me and thinks he's a comedian. Doesn't reply to his emails. Unfair marker.
One of my friends has major depression because of this teacher. He is more worried about his ego and ethics than your mental health or you learning anything. Sole memorization of hundreds of slides, extreme amount of details in exams, unfair teacher. Save your mental health and avoid this teacher at all cost.
just no.
Prof palmer is a very kind person but omg, u have to remember SO MUCH for his final exams. I recommend study VERY hard for his exam
Bro that exam actually got me tripping dawg. I've never got so bored in such a class and had issues UNTIL THIS FINAL DROPPED A BOMB ON ME AND MADE ME REALIZE I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN ANOTHER PROF. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST!
the final exam made me want to cry. make sure you study the textbook thoroughly. EVERYTHING will be ok the exam, even the small stuff which you think is useless
A lot of reviews dont recommend mr. palmer but truth is the other options arent much greater. I think this is what it is.
His lectures are super engaging and interesting, and his classes are overall pretty enjoyable. However, the final exam does include everything from the course, even things mentioned only briefly in class, so you need to read the textbook and study well for the final.
This course requires a lot of writing and researching. I found that this prof was pretty average, he does respond to emails pretty quickly and does seem willing to help for the most part. The textbook is quite important as well, and his lectures are very detailed too.
Had him for online. His grading criteria is clear and there is no midterm test but a midterm project, one group project, and the final exam. Palmer powerpoints were a bit different from the textbook, so definitely read the textbook. Palmer's lectures are straightforward, he is not very enthusiastic so lecture tend to get boring. Overall good prof
Lectures were interesting. Not the best communicator through emails, lowkey gives you an attitude. Grading criteria is very clear but he is a harsh grader. Not that bad.
Very transparent when compared with other professors; will show you the grades distribution curve...etc. Clear grading criteria. Good lectures. Final was hard but all mentioned in class. Seriously, go to class.
He was a pretty straight forward professor who has a lot of knowledge in his field. It is definitely important to go to class as he mentions a lot of stuff related to assessments there. His deliverables are fair however the final exam was quite difficult and is what ended up brining down my average. I recommend doing lots of review prior to final.
Very fair grader and the course is fairly easy. For the individual project, he posts the grading rubric and a guide, so follow those to basically guarantee an A+. Beware of the group project, he penalizes based on peer ratings so make sure you be a good group member and pray for a good group. The final is hard w/ lots of memorization though.
Pretends to be nice at start but gets worse. Gives good feedback tho, has very controversial opinions
Arrogant and smug. Pay very close attention to the negative reviews here, because they are accurate. This fellow seems much more interested in stroking his own ego than instructing.
It does not take long to realize how much he truly cares for his students and genuinely enjoys teaching. Though he may have the easiest midterms compared to other HR profs, his direct, practical experience make him a quality HR professional.
Great professor if you pay attention to his lectures and make an effort. He doesn't make exceptions for slackers but is reasonable with his grading (Rounded my group project from a 39 to a 50).
He definitely knows what he is talking about, and can go very in-depth on certain topics. He is very clear on what he looks for on assignments. The reason for the 3.0 rating is due to how content heavy the course is, and the way he teaches is kind of disorganized as he rambles. The final exam was fairly difficult.
Absolutely awful experience. Do your best to look somewhere else. Anywhere is better than attending even one of these classes.
Avoid. Read and be warned by the negative reviews here, as they are legitimate, as opposed to 5 star ones, which were written by none of than Mr. Palmer himself.
Professor John Palmer is an absolute star! Their expertise and dedication create a dynamic, inclusive learning environment. Truly transformative!
Awful. This prof almost turned me off the subject entirely. Avoid!!!
Not very helpful, unwilling to offer much of a solution or response. Constantly gets off topic, falls behind in the presentation then proceeds to rush through the rest to get it done before class ends.
Hard pass. Never again will I ever attend a class taught by this gentleman. He simply should not be doing this.
best prof at uottawa! highly recommend
My first class in the business school. Easiest mid-term I have ever written. Lecture heavy, but some stuff in lectures isn't in the text AND appeared on the exam. Easy A if you watch the lectures.
Tread carefully. The word among quite a few alumni with whom I've spoken is that most of the glowing "reviews" we see here were written by none other than the good professor himself. Think twice about enrolling in any course that this professor is teaching. Never again for me, that's for certain.
Looking forward to another Prof next semester.
Everyone knows John Palmer. Easy to do well with assignments and papers. The final exam was pretty difficult and all memorization but that is the entirety of this course. Follow the rubric and guidelines and you are chilling. Write notes as he is talking because he says stuff not in the notes that is on the final exam.
This professor is insane. He has zero respect for his students. He has a big ego and has disrespected multiple students during class. I would never suggest this professor to any student, and if I found out a friend of mine was taking his class, I would recommend switching out. He's always looking for a way to have authority over the students.
He's a good presenter, but outside of that he is very rude with a huge ego and strict on his marking. He makes ATTENDANCE MANDATORY and he will fail you if you don't show up. Everyone I have talked to in my class is personally dissatisfied with the course and believe his instructions for case study's to be incredibly vague.
This professor seemed bitter every lecture. He had no enthusiam, made the boring content even more insufferable to get through and was so rude whenever anyone asked a question. He seemed to constantly be annoyed that he was teaching and there was a giant tedious group project. if you want an engaging professor don't take his class!
It almost seems that he purposely wants to come across as a tough guy. He tries to make himself seem like a nice guy by doing things every other prof already does. But he specifically emphasizes that if you do not read the textbook or attend class "YOU WILL FAIL". Well, midterm was actually pretty easy despite how serious he made it sound.
Dk what was up with this Prof, but he made things sound unnecessarily difficult this entire sem. Midterm was easy if u studied. He's hugely passive aggressive and made it sound like him teaching and answering questions was doing us a favour as if I'm not literally paying to be here for my education. Would never take anything with him again.
If you're looking for THE review, this is the one: His lectures are extremely long and boring, he makes bad jokes, he rambles about random things, he emphasizes on things that aren't even on the test. The ONLY possible upside is the group project, which is a grade booster ONLY if you get good teammates
THIS MAN SHOULD BE FIRED. not only does he fail to carefully teach the material, he also has a severe attitude problem. He has degraded and humiliated students countless times over miniscule issues or questions, as if it is the greatest pain in the world for him to be a decent human. stay very far away from him!!!
Awful.
Degraded students and made the content more difficult than it needed to be. Midterm had the most irrelevant questions on it and final had some tough questions. Would avoid this professor if possible he ruined my tuesday night. Not sure where all the good reviews are from, prob from himself.
Reading the reviews, I was nervous about taking his class but I think he's pretty good. He talked a lot i lectures but I guess that is be a good thing because he knows his stuff. Midterm was not so bad, a mix between textbook and lecture contents. Straightforward grader, whatever he says he will grade, he will grade. Not too bad overall
Ask lots of Questions
Most, if not all, of the positive reviews on here have been written by Mr. Palmer. Avoid this class at all costs. This gentleman uses his platform to stroke his ego and intimidate people, rather than to actually teach. Funny, considering that his knowledge of the subject matter he's supposed to be an expert in is sophomoric at best. Avoid!
No, no and more no. A colossal mistake. Save your time and money and go with a professor that actually wants to teach.
Professor Palmer was great! If you don't put the work you will find it harder. I took 3 of his classes. He uses real life examples, in person is very engaging. He takes feedbacks and if ever you need support you can see him during office hours. Group projects in all of his classes. Made some new friends. Must listen in class as can be in exam.
WORST PROFESSOR AT THE UNIVERSITY. I would avoid him at all cost. He is overconfident and seems too full of himself. He does not care about the students and tries to pretend as if he does. I had no option because he was the only professor teaching 4377 but I would never take him if I had a choice.
I've avoided posting my grade, as this prof would most certainly attempt to discover who wrote this justifiably terrible review of both his course and his "teaching" methods. He should not be doing this.
He fancies himself as some manner of inspirational leader, yet ultimately comes across as vainglorious. Avoid.
Definitely a hefty dose of Short Man Syndrome with this prof. Hard pass.
Tons of readings every week, often over 100 pages. Overly specific exams that rely mostly on memorization rather than knowledge of course concepts. When confronted about the difficulty of the midterm (39% class average on the short answer) he simply would not accept any responsibility. Avoid taking this professor if you can.
Went directly against school policy by omitting required readings and parts of our evaluation from the syllabus, but when a student forgot their wallet and only had a picture of their ID for the exam, suddenly he's all about the rules. Says his main priority is for his students to do well but he has done nothing but act otherwise.
Very nice guy, but the stories he tells in class have nothing to do with the material, and expectations for assignments/exams are unclear.
overall a nice guy but, the final was brutal. Make sure you do really well on the assignments and the report for your mark to be saved
Yaps way too much during class and goes on boring, irrelevant tangents. Email responses and announcements are also unprofessional, I mean who uses "..." so much in the middle of sentences, it sounds like you're stuttering over email.
LOVE the stories he tells during class, it's always nice to get a look into a professor's life. HOWEVER, he almost spends more time telling stories than teaching topics. Also, assessment expectations are super vague.
Funn y
great
Funny, fair and communicates well. Some summer students don't care about class, then whine when they get bad marks. He told us up front that he'd give us 75% of needed material and text was important. Responds to emails quickly, and re-marks fairly. Best prof ever.
In a word: terrible. This fellow thinks he's quite a bit more important than he actually is and spends an inordinate amount of time telling you all about it. Most, if not all the positive reviews on here are written by him, so you can't say you haven't been told.
Don't really get his whole deal. Friendly at first but not great at teaching.
Lectures are boring, exams are extremely difficult, he's very condescending when responding to emails and isn't much help when visiting during office hours, and the worst part is he's convinced himself that he cares about his students.
Communication during and after exams was kind and understanding, but unfortunately that doesn't make up for his behaviour during the term. He was snarky, dismissive, would often go off on tangents during class, and his exams were difficult. Avoid taking classes with this professor.
He seemed fixated on letting you know just how much better he is than you are at virtually everything. No leadership qualities, and a dismissive, condescending attitude. Seek out a proper professor for your educational journey.
Least favourite course taken so far. The professor was quite condescending and apathetic, even towards students who actively participated and attended class. Case studies were a saving grace but the criteria was vague. Course is very memorization based, making assignments and exams difficult. Make sure to memorize the entire textbook or good luck.
Made it seem like assignments & exams would allow us to show our understanding of the course but they ended up being mostly about memorization. Went to office hours 1 time and he was unhelpful, he would interrupt me with answers to the questions he thought I was going to ask and somehow seemed offended that I didn't know things I was asking about.
pros: The professor is an excellent lecturer, using examples to clarify material. He's fair with final marks but unclear on scoring methods. cons: High grades require significant memorization and textbook reading. consider: Participation is key, and projects are graded on content, grammar, and involvement. He has zero tolerance for cheating.
Awful. Absolutely awful in virtually every conceivable way. I urge you to seek your education elsewhere, or wait until the university (hopefully) shows this man the door.
Professor Palmer is very good, however his exams use lockdown (audio, video and screen recording). Go to class, do quizzes and cases and you will do great. After his class, take ADM4396 Cyber Security Management with Umar Ruhi as an ADM elective! Knowledge from MIS is closely related to this cours. Specifically the cybersecurity module.
This professor can come across as arrogant and dismissive. The lectures are dull, and the exams are brutally difficult. However, using resources like unstuck study helped me stay on top of the material and get a solid grade.
I've made a terrible mistake by signing up to this class.
What a joke of a professor, does not care a single bit about students. Says he does it for fun but he only does it for the money and a terrible job. He needs to retire. He gets mad at students for the littlest things and shows no sympathy or accommodation.
FAILED BUT HES GREAT
Save your time by reading these reviews. I'm a mature student and have been around the block a few times, and can tell you with great confidence that this guy is absolutely far less formidable than the intellectual genius that he desperately wants to portray. An extremely egotistical and narcissistic fellow.
Prof. Palmer was very serious about attendance at the beginning of the semester. He made it overly clear that if you missed lectures, you'd fail the course. He "dropped" this rule when finals came. Along with many other of his scare tactics, he seemed determined to make the university life as stressful as possible. Maybe he enjoys it? IDK
This guy made me feel like a little inferior boy every class
The WORST prof at Telfer! Thinks he's a cultural expert just cuz he's married to someone from a diff culture . Super strict on deadlines, but takes forever to give us our marks and feedback. Changes course rules mid-semester and doesn't follow the syllabus. Loves giving 0s for tiny mistakes, making an easy class super stressful and unenjoyable.
As a prof, Palmer is very polarizing. Everyone I've talked to either has very positive or very negative things to say. I think Palmer expects a level of engagement and effort that some business students just aren't capable of (especially in a first year course). He's not perfect, but his lectures were engaging and his grading was fair.
Always brags about how people in his class will fail. Thinks he has this superior moral compass and is a super fair and compassionate person, he's the typical “I'm a good guy” type of person who just ends up being awful. The exam is just stuff from the textbook, his slides and lectures are useless
Straight up just awful, do yourself a favor and do not take him.
I attended every class which made the exam feel easy. I like that he was actually researching in the NWT before the term, not during, so he was more focused on us. Simulation was simple if you did the tutorials and had a good group.Generally funny enough to pay attention for 3 hrs.
Worst professor not understanding at all. Lectures are fine and he explains concepts well but if you ever have any issues or concerns during the course rest assured you're on your own and he will not be considerate. Test are only the stuff he says in class not in the textbook or slides and it doesn't help that the lecture recordings get deleted.
I would never recommend this prof to anyone
A small man with insecure tendencies. He will spend most of his time smugly "educating" you about how much smarter and better at everything than you he is. Avoid this fellow at all costs until, hopefully, the university dismisses this fellow and brings in a prof that actually has teaching in the forefront of their priorities.
Content was very much common sense. His slides overcomplicated definitions and concepts which he would mostly just read/repeat and move on. Didn't really agree with his views on business but that's neither here nor there. Class was online and easy enough. You can do the bare minimum and get by if you have prior knowledge about CSR, ethics, etc.
Terrible prof would not take again. Very hard marker and does not care about his students at all.
stay away from any "online" version of this class as most likely you will end up with Palmer. Attendence is mandatory and his exams are based on everything he said in class. If you sleep during lectures, good luck cuz the textbook readings later on will NOT help (even if you studied a lot from textbook!!) He threatens us quite a bit as well
Super uppity. Seems to think he's God's gift to Telfer.
Avoid taking this professor if you are a visual or kinesthetic learner. All he does for all his lectures is talk at you.
Never again. Please avoid this prof!
Hi Prof Palmer! I know you read these, so here are some criticisms for you. 1. Please answer your student's emails (it is not helpful when you answer them 3 weeks after). 2. if you always remind your students that you have two weeks to grade their papers, you should have them graded after two weeks! (not a month).
If you want to learn, avoid this prof. If you want a small man continuously reminding you of how smart he is, by all means sign up for this class. Telfer needs to seriously consider these reviews and take action to ideally address this issue. Students pay good money for utterly substandard instruction.
Aviod at all cost
Run if you can. Terrible Prof
Professor Palmer is not my ideal prof but it was definitely not a hard course overall. He will try and scare you with his tactics but don't try to let that get to you. The final exam was based on the last couple of lecture slides for the mc part but as for the written answers they were honestly not that bad.
Palmer is an interesting prof. He knows what he is talking about, and takes the course beyond the knowledge of a regular professor. That being said, I do have some criticisms. I don't mean to sound rude, but if you search up the definition of "narcissist", he practically fills every box. I also don't appreciate how he pushes his political opinion
Honestly didn't even bother studying for the final and still managed a B+ final grade despite getting a D+ on the MT. That being said, I think online him and in person him are 2 diff people. The group work bit was ok as well. He might seem bad in the moment but when ur finally done the course ur done and get a decent grade
0 out of 5 stars. Would NOT recommend even to my worst enemy.
Don;t regret taking him
Absolutely awful. Save your cgpa and don't take his classes.
I really liked this guy. TAKE HIM!!!
This guy writes his own good reviews. Don't believe anything good you see here, he is the worst professor at the university. Doesn't even have a doctorate. Just a regular guy who got put into this role
Lectures are quite long and hard to focus on because a lot of unrelated things are discussed in class. Exams are fair. I don't see how Praxar help learning the materials, and we have to pay for it. Counts for too much of the grade and doesn't reflect the course. If it counts for a smaller part of the grade and is more relevant, it will be better.
solid prof. very funny and engaging, but also rigid and has no problems with changing quiz dates without posting the changes on brightspace. overall enjoyable, his energy and enthusiasm help a lot with learning.
Self centred and narcissistic. Wastes hours of lecture time per week answering questions that have already been answered. Group work is a gamble. Terribly phrased questions on MT and horrible marking scheme for "personal engagement" for the sim. Some injected politics and monotonous lecturing. I've heard he's better in person, can't attest to that.
Horrible. not organized, forgets things, its like he wants his students to fail. do yourself a favor and just don't take him
He gets irritated at every single question. Very boring and arrogant. Praxar is irrelevant and counts for way too much of the grade. His political opinions are very obvious which makes for biased teaching. Poor time management. I understand questions get repeated that are in the syllabus, but we pay way too much for school so he should answer.
Respectfully, I regret taking this class. The guidelines are confusing and often contradictory, so many students ask the same questions and he spends at least an hour each class answering questions. He rushes through too much content and gets irritated when asked for clarity. If you have to take this course, do NOT take it with John Palmer.
Dear prospective student, do not ever under any circumstances register for this class with this professor. This is the sign you are looking for i promise. If you care about your academic future and dignity do yourself a favour and pass on this one. As a student who just barley made it out of this course, the bad reviews are 100% accurate. Good luck.
Dealing with this professor was frustrating. If you ask a simple question, especially over email, the responses can come across as genuinely rude, which makes it discouraging to reach out for help. The worst part of the class is the Praxar Golf Simulation. It is practically impossible to score well, and it is weighted at 30% of your final grade.
Honestly overcomplicated all the content, the class itself is pretty easy to understand but his lectures tend to be extremely boring and wordy. Praxar simulation is the worst thing to exist and it does not reflect the course in any way, its worth too much of your grade, exams are okay tho. Would still not take him again.
Not sure why John would go into teaching Uni courses when he is clearly too annoyed to GAF! A third of your grade will be determined by a group project on a Golf related simulation which he has no relation to and won't help you with since he didn't make the program! Super arrogant, annoying, and thinks he is top ish 😂a joke fr.
Horrible is All i have to say
avoid palmer at all costs. 30% of your grade is based off of a golf simulation and you can be placed in a group of idiots (like i was) who do jack shit. exam was 60% mc (wtf?). he is rude and only cares about himself
Not to hate but id avoid this guy at all costs. worst teacher i have ever had. to me he doesnt rly seem to care about his students. for reference i get pretty much straight A, i know a teacher isnt supposed to be so easy on you but this guy sucks. Horrible grader. tests try and trick you. half the MCQ is based on text book only. Dont take him ever
A self righteous, pompous awful little man. Rude, arrogant and dismissive. The university needs to review these comments and remove this god awful excuse for a professor from his position immediately.
Terrible teacher and awful person.
Sir if you are reading this, because I think you look at these reviews sometimes, the Praxar project is straight buns. Like genuinely so bad. Have mercy on the next students and find something better. The material isn't difficult. But the prof.....avoid him if you can.
I find it very ironic that the professor that was teaching me ethics and professionalism was the most UNPROFESSIONAL educator I ever had in my entire life. He responds to emails with the most condescending tones and mansplains the answer to your question like a baby and not the adult he claims you are. Never had a teacher so hellbent on failing ppl
I would have rather been in prison than this course
The absolute worst professor. Overcomplicates lectures because he wants to sound smart, in reality the material is common sense. Extremely unfair that your grade is 30% Praxar and midterm's 25%(majority of groups are bound to get lower grades because only top 3 groups get full marks). There's a reason why he's rated so low. Avoid him at ALL COSTS.
