Pernice is a cool guy. He's not like Coccia by any means, but he's cool nonetheless. Easy to understand, not a d*ck to students, semi-hard tests. The class itself is easy, and he seems to teach right from the book. As long as you read, you'll pass.

Great Teacher, Great Lectures. Keeps material interesting. Tests are MC/Essay and and more difficult than the average exam. Material is almost 100% out of the book, but studying is a must to excel. (This is not an easy A)

A fantastic teacher in every resxpect. He's funny, motivating, interesting, and very knowledgable. His class is easy as long as you pay attention, ask questions, and read what your supposed to. He's Definetly one of my favorite teachers of all time.

Great guy...As long as you read you'll go far in his psych class. Most of what he says is in the book but he does go off on tangents and add his own material. He doesn't test definitions, rather the concepts behind those definitions.He gave General Psych a fun face and made it an exciting class.

pernice is generous w/ grades. his tests can be a little unclear, but if you participate in class he will pass you. the material is interesting and he's really into what he teaches. highly recommended.

Pernice is possibly one fo the best teachers i have ever had. the class was more then fun and entertaining and yet i learned so much at the same time. it was the only class i lo0ked foward to attending all the time. make sure to study and pay attention, its worth it!

Pernice was a fantastic teacher. He's helpful and hilarious. He helped me transfer to another school too. Do yourself a favor at OCCC, and give yourself the privelage of taking his classes. My favorite class of all 2 years, and the best teacher I've ever had! Thanks Pernice!

Pernice is terrific. Animated, hysterical. LOVED this class. Almost like stand up comedy after lunch. Seriously, he relates all topics to a real life situation making the somewhat technical text much easier to comprehend. Tests aren't EZ butif you absorb the general concepts you will excel!

Funny and all around nice guy that loves what he does. Easy to do well on his tests if you study, he pretty much spells things out for you. Would love to have him again.

Pernice is a nice man but I felt I was in high school in the class. I thought he was there to just make people laugh. In addition, my friend wrote a bad critic about him and it disappeared a week later. I would not be surprise if he is writing all of these reviews. Plus, like my friend said, why is someone with a counseling degree teaching Psych?

Instructor Pernice is very energetic. I have him for my first period class and he gets everyone awake and laughing. I often have difficulty learning unless its visual or hearing and he's good with both. I can't speak for the other Psychology teachers on campus because I've never had them, but I'm not sure any could top Pernice.

really great teacher. hes hilarious and always kept the class entertained. has a real life example for everything. just read the chapters thoroughly for the tests.

awesome person, even if he's not in the class room. came to my job and tipped me very well! take his classes as an elective if psych is not your major!!

Pernice made me want to take more psych classes! if you read you'll do fine, he also takes time out to answer personal questions, but doesn't waste time. Great!

I had Mr. Pernice for psych 101 in fall 04'. His tests are easy if you have common sense and that's about all you need to pass. Read the book and you'll do fine. Basically he's a really really nice guy and I would recommend him to anyone. I got a B+.

It's a relatively hard class but >>truly interesting>> Adolescent psychology's so interesting! Not only does he makes you think but along with his enthusiastic personality, the class goes by fast and you'd want to stay longer to end the interesting class discussions. As long as you take good notes, pay attention in class>>you'll do fine(^-^).

Total high school atmosphere in class. Trying to entertain us to much. Good guy but he must be writing these reviews. 75 reviews with all of them with the same wording. Great teaching. I don't think so.

He knows his stuff thoroughly. Don't answer in his class if you don't know the answer word for word. He can be condescending. As long as you study for the tests, you can pass. He is very animated in his lectures, it makes it easier to understand. He reads his ratings, he told us he does. He's overly confident in himself, but he is a decent teacher.

I think Pernice is great, psych is definatly my favorite class this semester. It can be a little bit difficult, but as long as you attend and read the chapter his tests are pretty easy. He makes class fun too, gets you invovled and makes sure you get what he's talking about by using examples and making you think.

Really great teacher. tests are very easy just study your notes and there will be no surprises, hes very willing to give outside help and i reccomend going to him b4 class for a test review. it saved my life on the final exam!!! one of my fav classes!

He makes every lecture really interesting. The textbook isn't mandatory but it?s helpful when taking notes. Be absent as least as possible so you don?t miss his lectures he gives allot of instances and examples so the material is easy to learned Also really helpful and theres a final you can take to drop your lowest grade Id defiantly recommend him

Professor Pernice made this class so incredibly interesting. He applied alot of the analogies with real life which really helps understanding. He's really willing to help, you just have to ask. His tests arent easy so study the text too. Professor Pernice is by far one of the best professors at O.C.C.C!

He was awesome! i highly recommend him if you're going to take Psychology. He was fantastic. The hour 15 min class always flew by. he keeps your attention and is humorous. Almost as good as my high school teacher.

The man is one of the most intresting teacher's I've ever had, and his sheer ability to keep you intrested will be the reason you study for his tests. He makes you want to pass.

He seems like a great insturctor that knows his stuff. However, he can be a bit arrogant and condesending at times. Yet, he keeps the class interesting. I like that he encourages class participation. Looking forward to the rest of the semester in his class.

Very smart guy and could possibly be the best teacher walking the campus of O.C.C.C. I would highly recommend him. I've only taken one class with him but i am going to try and take another. He's very funny and keeps the class interesting, it's one class i actually enjoyed getting up every morning and going to. Take his classes!

I actually didn't mind getting up early to go to this class. Prof. Pernice kept me interested (and laughing) He teaches so that you can apply material to your life, I thought that was pretty cool.

Pernice is a great professor. His class was fun and he made taking notes not seem that boring. I would highly recommend him as a professor, his tests are moderate if you study you will do good. There was very little homework and he is very upfront and hilarious. If i wasn't transferring i would sign up for another one of his courses in a heartbeat!

I LOVE PERNICE!!!! Everyone should take him!!! His tests are moderately hard but if you read the book and study a bit you'll do excellent I love the course and he teaches it well...the material is exciting for anyone who'll be working with teens...

Really enjoyed Psych w/Pernice as professor. Kept the classes interest w/his lectures. His exams were challenging, but if you studied and attended class, you could succeed.

I've taken Pernice for general psych 1 and now Adolescent Psych. Both classes were moderately easy. Study the material, just paying attention to the lectures isn't enough.He relates a lot of the lessons to real life making the material easier to understand. Great professor and very helpful, just make the time. I would absolutely recommend him!

Great teacher. He has lots of experience in the field. He gives great examples of what he teaches. Will attendance isn't required you should attend. His test are a mix of the textbook and his class notes. Sometimes he will contradict the book and you have to know his answer.

honestly the best professor i have EVER had. not only is he great at what he teaches, but he actually cares about his students and their success. i would recommend him over any other teacher hands down.

Great teacher! He helped me alot. Your only grades come from 5 tests he gives, and one is replaced with final. You must attend as test information is given only verbally, but you are not punished for not attending(even if over 3).

Received a 78 my first test. By the end of the semester I received an A for the class. My best advice, invest in a tape recorder, take good notes and during a test, ask him to clarify a question. My first day in class, I thought I made a mistake, but I was wrong. Excellent teacher, very handsome, and humorous!

Very, very good professor. Delivers the content so clearly and uses real life examples to make the content even clearly. You need to read the text book and do some studying to do well on the 4 tests he gives- those are your only grades! If you ask a question, he'll make you look like an idiot in front of the class. So, be careful. Recommended.

Difficult to not pay attention in class. Lectures are funny and entertaining. His tests are difficult but if you study you will be fine. I def recommend.

Awesome teacher. I loved the class. You DO have to study quite a bit if you plan on doing well on his tests. I'm not one to study (like... ever) but I sat and studied for hours to ensure I did well on his tests (tip: use your textbook to study. it helps!). The class was incredibly interesting and he's a funny professor, so take him if you can!

Pernice was a tough but fair, helpful professor with a witty sense of humor. His adolescent psych class was difficult but by far my favorite class yet! exams are a bit tough but study and you won't have an issue. Papers in ado psych are self explanatory and fairly easy to write provided you know the materials. By far, one of THE best professors!

Loved this class despite being an art major. Highly informative, witty and engaging professor. I found the tests very hard despite good notes & study. Pay attention, do your readings before class and take notes on everything. There WILL BE EXAM QUESTIONS on class notes not found in the book so DON'T SKIP ANY CLASSES! I would take this class again.

I took prof Pernice over the summer. He has enjoyable lectures. He is very funny, and he swears a lot. He gave no homework, quizzes or projects, just 5 tests (including the final). Be prepared to study for the tests, they're difficult. And he quickly reads the notes off a piece paper so keep up with him. Reading the textbook is a must. Overall good

Very straight forward. I would take him again and again. You must read your book to understand, even he will tell you. He won't try and trick you, but you must participate. Fun class and very engaging, You won't have any regrets taking him. Oh class notes are vital, so take good ones, because he doesn't recite word for word from the book.

I took Professor Pernice for Psych 101. Right from the first class I knew he was a good professor. Very funny, inspirational, keeps the class active and makes the class fun. Everything is crystal clear but just know that if you miss his classes you may be screwed. Some material on his tests are solely based on class lectures. Attend class A+

This guy is hysterical. I never found myself bored or looking at the clock during his lectures. He gave four tests and they were the only graded assignments which made things tricky, but if you read the textbook you should do fine. The final is optional if you have a high enough grade. He was always willing to help whenever needed, too.

Really funny, energetic lectures but make sure you pay attention. I took thorough notes and didn't even buy the textbook and did really well. If you need help ask and you'll get it, but don't expect him to come to you about it.

Paying attention to the lectures isn't enough, make sure to take good notes. Very few test questions come directly from the book, borrow the book from the library to write the few papers needed. He relates lessons to real life making the material easier to understand and is willing to explain it to you until you understand it.

Pernice is an awesome guy., very laid back and hilarious personality. But he is a tough grader and his tests are hard! He speaks fast so you have to take notes very quickly. He does let you record the lectures if you can't write fast(like me) which I found useful. Make sure you read the textbook! He throws questions from the textbook onto the exam.

Pernice is hilarious, expect to get made fun of if you participate though. Expect to SHOW UP and listen to his lectures, that is the only thing his tests are based on. You can ask him basically anything about the tests and he will tell you. The things he spends the most time on will be his short answer questions!! I never used textbook

His exams are difficult, but he assigns easy papers to help your grade. Never a dull moment in class, he's hilarious and keeps you interested in the topic. Wonderful teacher, truly wants you to succeed. Take him, you won't regret it!

Pernice is TOUGH. You will have to work for the grade you want because he is NOT giving it to you! Make sure you actually read the textbook too because he does put a few questions about the reading or definitions on his tests. For his tests, make sure you READ each question carefully and before the test ask as many questions as you can about it.

I thought my intro to Psych class would be easy, seeing as Ive taken psych classes before, but let me tell you, it was actually pretty challenging. There is a lot of information to learn and the tests can be hard. But he will always take time to show you better study habits, and really wants you to pass. Hands down amazing psych teacher. & v Funny!

No HW nothing, just 4 exams. He reads off a cheat of notes, their hard exams. He is a very funny teacher and will keep you interested but you better study

If you want to pass, you NEED to come to class, there's no way to pass without being present. All of his exams are heavily based on his lectures, so TAKE NOTES. There are no homework assignments, no projects, and no essays. Just 4 exams and an optional final, go to class, take notes and listen and you'll be set. He's an amazing professor!

His class is fun if you actively engage in the lecture and pay attention, the more you participate the better for you. Absolutely loved this teacher, I did a summer class and its a lot of material but he really explains everything in depth and gives real life scenarios to remeeber the material. Note taking and book is a must his test are decently hard if you do not study! He does not give homework but expects you to study.

Amazing professor. Simple and to the point. Four tests with an optional final exam; if you choose to take it, it replaces your lowest grade. Easy and interesting. If you sit and get the general gist of his lectures and take decent notes, then its an easy B or A. Textbook not required, never used mine. Look over notes before test a couple times.

Not too hard. You MUST takes notes or you won't pass. The entire class is basically note taking, but hes really funny and makes the class interesting. No homework, only four tests and the final is optional, but he replaces lowest grade with final's grade. You won't pass if you skip or don't pay attention.

He is such a good professor however he rarely writes anything on the board so you have to attend class and listen to his lectures. There was no other work we had to do besides the tests. The final was also optional and dropped the lowest test grade. I would recommend him but definitely study a lot for the tests.

Mr. Pernice was by far the best teacher I've ever had. Anyone who gets to be a student of his is extremely lucky. I wish he could be my professor for every class I have to take. Just be sure you're a good note taker and you'll do just fine

Pernice is pretty easy-going and also has an amazingly hilarious persona. One thing's for sure though: you NEED to read your textbook & TAKE NOTES. All the material he goes over in his lectures is basically all from said textbook, and all the notes taken will help you succeed in his tests. He also gives you more than ample time to study. Take him.

Pernice is a very funny nice guy. his teaching style is different. He doesnt put up slideshows during lecture or anything online. You solely have to use your book and write down notes as he speaks in lecture. I just didnt like the fact that there was no other resources available. Because of this coming to class is very important

Pretty good teacher. To do good in his class take solid notes because he barely writes anything down. He talks really fast so be ready to get a wrist cramp. If want to get an A ask him about the 7 step method to remembering information.

If you study for the tests you will do fine. Very interesting lectures. Easily my favorite professor.

Although the class is based off of four tests he thoroughly covers each section making it very easy to pass if youre jotting down notes and paying attention. Good class conversations and very lecture heavy but he still makes it interesting. I would definitely recommend!

I thoroughly enjoyed the content of his course. He gave great lectures, but it is very important to take detailed notes or you won't pass since his course is based around just 4 exams. While it was very difficult to reach him by email, he still was a caring and motivated professor that wanted his students to pass. I would definitely recommend him!

Prof. Pernice was by far my favorite professor this semester!! His lectures are amazing, fun and informative. He barely uses the text book so you'll be taking A LOT of notes, but every single thing that's on his exams is given to you in his lectures. You're never left unprepared unless you miss class.
