Great teacher, he's positive and willing to do what ever it takes to makde sure you understand, he even stays after class to make himself avaliable to assist students that want extra help. extremley approachable, and with a great positive attitude.

I walked into the class ready to learn and not a bit prepared. I was awful at math, I count on my fingers sometimes and rely heavily on a calculator for division. This teacher though is probably one of the best I've had. He is so patient with his students and I believe that he is one of the kindest men I have ever met.

Math 80 was my first math class in over 25 years. Mr. Rivero made it easy to understand and didn't let go until everyone got it. He makes participation fun and you get much more out of it when you do. He allows the opportunity to correct your homework so you understand your mistakes and get full credit. Not bad on the eyes either!

He's a great teacher however goes by the lesson fast n gives way too much Hw. Expect to do 150 + problems a night even if you only hve one day to do it. He let's you correct hw and retake a test if you fail. But tht hw will stress you out!

Mr. Rivero is one of the most helpful teachers at Merced College. I had him for two semesters in a row, and I wish he would continue with higher level classes, so I can take them with him. I strongly recommend him, his classes are clear, and he is always there for you if you need it. Expect homework.

Mr. Rivero is a great professor. Ive taken him for Math 80 & 81. he does give alot of hw but in the long run it does prepare you for the test given. He constantly ask if any one has any questions dont be afraid to ask. He will go over the problem until you understand it. Mr Rivero is a great math teacher. I've had him before for previous classes and his teaching style is to the point and clear. He also gives extra credit which helps a lot. Hey may leave a bit of homework but he gives chances to turn in late assignments. I wish he would teach higher levels of math he's sincerely a great teacher.

This is hands down the best math teacher out there. Everyone knows that the early stages of math are important or else you'll stumble the rest of the way. Professor Rivero goes above and beyond his normal duties to make sure that EVERYONE passes. Because everyone matters to him. I HIGHLY recommend taking him or at least get on the waiting list!

Professor Rivero gives a lot of homework but that is what makes the lessons stick. If you aren't a very good test taker (like myself) but you do good on homework and do extra credit you can still pass the class. He gives so many opportunities for his students to succeed (extra credit, make up tests, time for homework, tutoring, etc)

He does give a fine amount of homework. I don't feel like its over the top since it is a college class. Be prepared to be called on at less 2 times during the class. If your a person who likes to sit in the back & not particulate in class then I wouldn't recommend him. He does explain things well and he will explain again if people need it.

Mr Rivero is a decent teacher. Where he is lacking in communication skills, he makes up for in the resources he provides his students to succeed. Going to the tutorial center and the math lab for further explanation of the chapters will be a must if you have trouble with math like I do. I encourage taking his class.

Great professor, but for a summer math class I'd say the amount of homework was just way too much. If you take his pre-algebra class over the summer make sure you have the book the first day of class because the homework load hits you like an avalanche and before you know it you're buried in late work. This was my 2nd time taking Mr. Rivero. I took him for Math 80 & Math 81. He's a great Professor, always willing to give extra help when needed. While there's a lot of homework, it's impossible to fail his class if you do the work and make up exams. He gives homework every class and there are tests once about every 2 weeks. His tests are long. But if you need help understanding the problem then he will thoroughly help until you do understand. He also lets you use notes for every test you take. 10/10 recommend. He's a gem.

I took Mr. Rivero for Math80 and I really enjoyed his class! His times are a little odd because he teaches at Merced High School as well as the JC so if you enjoy night classes than I would look into taking his courses. He gives out so much homework, but he does it to make you learn the material. He gives you about 2 to 2 1/2 hours worth of homework every day of class. Depending on the chapter he zooms by and doesnt give you time to write everything down. If you ask him to slow down he will. Hes willing to stay after class and help you with certain problems.

Rivero is a great professor who will work with anyone with the littlest problems only if you ask. Has patience and cares for teaching math. Be prepared to have a ton of homework if taking summer course lessons criteria gets jammed within the 4 days a week.

Professor Rivero is not difficult at all.. When any students have trouble not understanding, he takes the time to explain it.. I took him in the summer and lots of homework is required..

There is a lot of homework, but you can always resubmit assignments for a better grade. Also, he gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit, he allows as many test retakes as you need. If math isn't your strong suit, he'll give you multiple opportunities to do well in the class. his lectures are great and he really breaks everything down.

I have yet to see Rivero continue a lecture until everyone has a clear understanding. If you have a question or need a little extra explanation regarding any part of the lecture, he typically has no problem and is seemingly glad to help.

He explains the topics very well and helps you with pretty much everything. He does give a good amount of homework for each chapter.

Mr. Rivero is all around a really good teacher. I always walk away from his lectures feeling like i've actually learned and retained the information being taught. He's a fair but firm grader and the deadline for assignments is somewhat generous. Also make sure you save the assignments he returns, mistakes might be made where it doesnt get graded.

In my opinion, Mr. Rivero is a great teacher, and I am very happy to have had him as my teacher this summer. Gives a lot of homework however they always say practice makes better. A great thing about Professor Rivero he grades your homework and gives you a chance to correct your errors to get full credit. Really good Math teacher! If you don't understand he is very patient and will work through the problem with you even if its during break. he gives a lot of extra credit. he takes off points if you don't show up though. he also gives back homework in a timely manner and tells you when tests are. He gives progress reports a few times a semester.

Quite a bit of homework compared to other teachers. However he allows for late turn in and turning in what you missed on your homework for full credit as well as retaking tests. Really wants you to learn and does his best to help you. Also he is the tutor on Mondays and Tuesdays in the lab which helps even more - victoria

Mr. Rivero is one of the greatest and nicest professors I ever had. His lectures are so clear that it may make you want to learn more. He even takes the time to help students who didn´t understand the topic that very moment. Show up every class to earn EXTRA CREDIT at the end of the semester. Easiest A one can ask for.

Lectures go a bit too fast and and there sometimes is limited processing time to answer questions. Lessons are clearly presented and there is a lot of opportunity ask questions if you dont understand.

Good at teaching, makes sure you understand what he is teaching. Does give homework, but its not a lot if you do it when given.

Mr. Rivero is hands down one of my favorite professors. Not only is his class fairly easy, but he takes the time to explain a problem until you get it. There is quite a bit of homework, if you do it as it is given you'll have no problems. Extra credit is available, again he a great Professor and it doesn't hurt that he has a good sense of humor :)

I personally struggle in math but Mr Rivero did a great job in teaching you more then one way to solve a problem. Gives plenty of time to complete and turn in homework. Excepts late work. Teaches class well! I would defiantly take a math class with him again.

Rivero goes over in class what our homework will be, gives every opportunity to make up and turn in homework and exams, even gives extra credit for going to math lab, participation and attendance matters. Book is required.

If you do not get it ask him he will explain individually if needed

Me. Rivero is an amazing teacher. He shows he cares for his students and wants them to succeed! If you dont understand a math problem hes willing to show you step by step until you get it down. He goes over homework clearly, goes over lessons a bit to fast sometimes but if you have questions you can always ask. I would definitely recommend him!

One of the best math teachers I have had at Merced. He is a very understanding teacher and does everything he can to make sure you pass the class. If you put in the work and take advantage of the extras you can easily pass with an A. Would defiantly take him again!

He allows you to retake tests if you need to. Generous with extra credit. He keeps the class fun, he will answer your questions, and is patient. He has energy which make the class not boring. Sometimes his lectures can be confusing but shows more than one way to explain problems.

Rivero was such a great professor! There was hw everyday, but it was an accelerated class over the summer, so that's understood. He offered extra credit and always went over problems that we had questions about. If you struggle with math in general like me, I highly suggest him!

Math62. Summer 2019. Extremely easy going person in general and likes to make jokes. He gives a lot of homework but is also very thorough during lecture. He calls on students to answer problems and will go over a problem again if you still dont understand it. His tests are on scan tron and they are about once a week. Recommended for sure.

If truly you don't understand math at all, Mr Rivero is here to make you love math. He is understandable and easy going teacher but make sure u don't miss a class cos every class is worth it. Attendance are mandatory. I personally will recommend him for anyone that wants to ace the class.

Hes a really good professor. I took the course during the summer, but I wouldnt recommend taking another class with this math class during summer session. Attendance MATTERS, if your gone even for one day you will feel a little lost. He moved quick, but is always helpful, easy to approach, and explains things simply and in a clear manner.

My only summer class in 2019. Professor Rivero is an amazing teacher! He calls on students alot but will never make you feel any less than other students, he will go over problems until you feel like you undertsand it. Although this was a summer course and it started at 8am, Professor Rivero made it worth coming to. I have never been good at math but he made it very easy and was always willing to go back and explain if a student didn't understsand. He was always in a good mood at 8am and cracking jokes. I definitely recommend taking him if you're not good at math

Mr. Rivero is super chill and funny! While most of us were tired in the morning for our 8 am class, he always came in happy and with a smile. Hes nice, he makes a ton of jokes, and he teaches very well. He always explains each problem and makes sure everyone understands perfectly. He gives a lot of homework, but its worth it in the end. 10/10 (:

I took his class durning summer 2019! One of the best professor I have ever had! He really cares and definitely wants see his students succeed and offers time to help with any issue . I took his Math 62 this summer, he does assign a lot of homework, but gives every opportunity to turn it in late, retake tests as many times as you want, gives extra credit for going to math lab. Overall he is an amazing professor and I would take his class again.

Wonderful teacher, very easy going and has a great assortment of ties to wear to class. Very respectful man and he kind of looks like and older version of Ross from the show Friends. Would love to take another one of his classes. Allows fo you to retake any tests without penalty and thats fantastic hes willing to grade it.

I'm taking John Rivero currently for Math 62, hands down an amazing professor. He gives lots of homework but it benefits you to learn the material being taught. You can earn extra credit, 300 a semester. Easy A class as long as you turn in assignments and participate. You are able to retake test if you fail and resubmit homework for full credit

Hands down the best teacher you could get. He makes sure that you understand the material and will go over each problem until you do. He teaches you like youre a high school student, which makes learning a lot easier. Prepare to have a good laugh almost every class.

He is a great teacher! Explains everything clearly and allows everyone to fully understand before moving on. Homework is a little heavy but needed to understand the difficult subject. He's funny and cares about his students. Allows ample opportunity for extra credit. I would definitely take him again!

Ive been taking math 62 this semester it has been fairly easy, but he sure gives a lot of homework and if you dont keep up with the homework you may fall behind, but before the semester ends hell give you a week to catch up with all ur missing assignments. He allows test retakes ! Which is great because itll knock down ur lowest grade.

He can give a lot of homework but overall its a reasonable amount. He has a good sense of humor so class isn't as boring as a math class normally would be. He is a very nice person.

As my first semester back into college, I started w/o checking RMP. He is very patient, makes lot of dad jokes and esp jokes with students. On top of his attendance & always on time. Only wants the best for the class. Lots of homework, but how else would you learn? Definitely would take again, but Im moving :-( hope to find another prof like him!

Great professor����

I attended Mr Rivero's Math c class this fall semester and I can honestly say he is a great teacher. He does give a lot of homework but its overall part of his grading system. The pros of this is he will let you make it up for full credit just make sure you show your work and keep the originals. Very caring teacher for all his students.

He is funny, nice, gives a lot of homework, extra credit is given, and he does call on you when he lectures. (Math C-6320).

Rivero is fun

Mr. Rivero is a good professor. He allows for lots of extra credit and the ability to redo homework and tests. There are two things I dont like about his class. The first is that he doesnt have grades posted online and you can only see them when he hands out progress reports. The second is that he sometimes goes through the lesson too fast.

Plenty of opportunity to improve grades on HW or tests. A ton of extra credit available as well. Best math teacher available for Math C!!

I was nervous having to take math since it's been decades, but I enjoyed his class. He really wants you to pass & gives plenty of opportunities to complete assignments & extra credit it also available. He's thorough & patient & stays after class for questions/concerns. I've had many teachers/professors & he's one of my top 5, that's saying alot

Made sure every student knew the material before moving onto the next problem. Always asked if anyone had questions and stayed after to help those who had additional questions.

Professor is an excellent teacher. He does pick on you to help solve the problems. I am a very shy person who does not like to speak out loud but was able do it. He does help you and if you need help hes willing to go over the work again. i would highly recommend to take his class. He is fun teacher!

Math 62- 6266 on Mondays and Wednesday. Mr Rivero is very informative. Helps you understand how to do the work, goes out of his way and gives his time to make sure that your getting it. Doesnt make you feel stupid if you dont understand. He is a great teacher and would definitely recommend him to anyone! I would retake his class anytime.

Hes diffinantly a solids choice. He will really make you work for your grade though. You get what you deserve. Do well on your exams and homework and youre pretty set. Attendance is mandatory. So you have to be prepared to actually attend class

I would like to say that Mr. Rivero is an AWESOME TEACHER!!!!!! He is available for help in the tutorial lab. His lectures are very understandable. If you go to class you will learn the material. He goes step by step and always stops and asks if we have any questions. He also gives extra credit. I wish we had more teachers just like him!

Mr. Rivero is a great teacher all around . He genuinely cares about his students . His lectures make it easy to understand what we are going over, and he always makes sure we are all on the same page . One of the best teachers Ive come across. If more teachers were like him, students would have no problem passing classes .

Mr. Rivero is an awesome teacher. I took him for Math-62. This is my second time taking him for Math. He is very helpful and willing to answer any question you have until you understand the work clearly. He does give quite a bit of hw but you can alway re-fix the problems when you get it back and turn it in for full credit. I recommend him.
