A very good teacher who is very helpful and entertaining in class. He makes math fun and also is very good at explaining the topics. Take good notes and attend every class and getting that good grade will be easy. Just watch out for that midterm and final. Higher speed is recommended.

Good and interesting teacher who makes math enjoyable and easy to understand. He moves kind of quickly, but if you go to class and take good notes, it is a breeze. He's always willing to help you out outside of class.

It really helped that I took AP calculus in high school, and brought along all my notes. He's a really good teacher, and has a great sense of humor. Just go to class, take good notes, and do the hw he comes up with on his own and you'll do fine.

Treats you like a friend and makes time for you outside of class for review sessions I took this class without any calculus experience and very little knowledge of trig struggled but the class prepared me well for the exams and such

Professor Robertson was a super helpful professor. He took time out of office hours to hold review sessions before the midterm and final. As for his exams, very similar to the homework (which he makes, so it relates directly to lecture). Teaching style is very straight forward and easy to follow.

Curlee for mayor. This dude is the best!!! I want to be his friend. He's super funny and I learned more than I ever learned in any other math class. Ask around, everybody says Curlee is the best.

BEST Math teacher I've ever had. I hated math before his class, now I'm excited about it. Curlee teaches like a down-to-earth guy with a Ph.D in Math. He breaks down intimidating concepts until EVERYONE gets it. Don't like his first explanation? Then he'll break it down another way and another, as many times as it takes for everyone to get it.

Great teacher, fun and super chill. Ask questions and he'll explain it to you as needed. His grading is super fair homework making up 25% of your grade the same amount as your final. And 10% for each midterm, you'll have three. recitation which makes up the rest of it. However I felt that the final was a bit overwhelming and I was not ready.

I actually took Curlee twice in the past year, both for MATH 307 and 243. John is down-to-earth with his teaching methods. Very understanding when it comes to his students, and will continue to go over a lesson until everyone in the class understands. The usual homework due before every class, 2 midterms and a final exam.

Best math teacher, you learn a lot and he is very helpful with the worksheets and gives practice exams. Easy to follow

He explains a difficult subject really well and is also just hilarious which makes being there at 8:30 not as awful. He's got lots of office hours and is really easy to make apt. w/ to get help if you're struggling. He also holds helpful reviews before every test.

He's a great math professor, I would recommend to anyone taking math. Take his class! Any level... He makes math fun and I'm someone who actually isn't that fond of math (you can tell by my grade). He's great.

Professor Robertson (aka Curlee) is a great professor. He offered a lot of help. Even though there was a lot of homework and online assignments, it really forced you to learn the material. As he went through each question he went step by step and made it fun

The website is a little difficult to get used to, but his lectures there are extremely helpful. He goes through topics slowly, taking time to explain things in detail and makes them fun

Super nice prof but this class online is extremely intensive. You need to be very self-motivated for this class. I don't know the in person format but online can be overwhelming if you don't have good time management. I loved the profs personality but I would never take the class again.

Curlee is the by far the most dynamic math prof I have ever met! He truly cares about every student's performance and genuinely wants each student to succeed. He has a lot of patience and spunk! If you do not like math, Curlee has a way of getting you to see why he loves it so much. He has lots of passion, just do what is right and try.

Curlee was great in Math 241, I took this in Fall 2020 but when I saw his Rate my professor score, felt I needed to do something. He is very humorous and enjoys math. He is great at explaining topics and is available through office hours or email.

I like the way his class is set up. His lectures are accessible via laulima, so you can always go back to it. His ta's teach in class and we do the worksheets in class, so its a way to earn points. Math is a little difficult for me and I think if it were for you too, this class would be a little hard because its very fast paced. Amazing professor.

I really enjoyed this class to be completely honest ans I never thought Id say that about a math class. The lectures were easy to follow and understand. The LA, TA and Dr. Curlee were all very helpful. The hardest part was navigating the website for online homework.

Curlee is a gem of a math teacher. He truly cares about each of his students and wants nothing but for them to succeed. His lecture videos are amazing and he goes in depth and has a way to make it enjoyable. There is a lot of homework but it is necessary to ensure you know the material. Put in the work and you will be set. Curlee is a must take!

Honestly professor "curlee" is one of the best math professors out there. As long as you try and communicate with him you will pass this class. His lectures are very enjoyable and if you ever need help with anything he is always there to help! If there a chance to choose this professor, I would take it! All you have to do is put it the hard work!

Curlee is an awesome professor. He explains the material very well so that it's easy to understand. Class relied heavy on TAs, so Curlee was never really in the room during recitation. Lecture videos were very helpful and he gave practice questions for every exam, including the final. Definitely take this professor if you have the chance!

Prof Curlee is super accessible outside of class and is willing you help you until you understand. + his TA's and LA's were all amazing, definitely go in for help if you need it. He gives you multiple study guides for each exam to make sure you do well (exam and guide are very similar!) 4 HW a week but is manageable with only a few questions.

Best Math professor ever. You watch about 10-15 medium length videos before each chapter totaling about 23 chapters. However, it is very easy to understand and I usually cram them the night before for about 2 hours and finish the previous chapters' homework, then the current chapters' worksheet so I can get into class and leave 5 minutes after.

Curlee was my favorite math teacher I've had. His class was really easy to follow and his lectures were entertaining. Some said that he went off topic a lot, but honestly I didn't really care that he did. He is really helpful if you go to his office hours so take advantage of that if you are struggling.

Curlee is a great teacher who wants his students to succeed. He provides a lot of extra credit and is always able to help. It is important to go to class and the recitation. If you do the homework, worksheets, and practice exams you should do decent.

He was very energetic and entertaining. He color coded notes making it easier to understand and follow along. He was very organized by using Google Drive for Homework and Notes. He prepared us for the exam's to the best of his ability and the exam's are almost exactly like the practice. Grading is very lenient and can usually do makeup points.

Very welcoming to after class questions and tutoring. Even does video reviews of all of his practice test questions - goes above and beyond the average professor at UH Manoa.

Curlee really cares about his students and his lectures reflect that. He organizes them very well and saves copies online so I could refer back to them whenever I got confused. He is very good at explaining difficult topics.

Curlee Is one of the best math professors you will ever get. He explains things in a way that allows you to pick up on them quickly. He never makes fun of people asking questions, and he tries to make his class interesting by being a little funny (He is a little awkward though). The best part is he gives practice exams so people rarely fail.

Took this class last semester, a bit weird start since things were online for a couple weeks. But as things moved back to in person, everything was a lot better. There are a lot of resources he provides; ask questions in class, office hours, ask TA's during recitation, and even online videos/lectures. His lectures can also be quite entertaining

Curlee is great, I took his class in my second semester and honestly he was really cool. I don't see why so many people give him bad ratings because in my section we all really liked him as far as I could tell. Sometimes I see him on campus and say hi. His tests are much easier than his examples, and he gives the formulas on a cheat sheet.

Material can be difficult but he offers a lot of resources to help you learn it. Everything about the way this class is taught and graded is how all classes should be.

Very communicative. Sends emails about any class/material changes and study sessions. Lectures are spent going over the math and some example problems with explanations. He will often finish his lesson early, so asking questions is encouraged and he will gladly go over concepts and problems in detail. He is funny and cares about his students. 10/10

As someone who had an averse attitude toward math, this class changed that profoundly. Curlee is intelligent, funny, and a good teacher. He truly puts in the effort to help students succeed. The homework and practice exams/reviews prepare you well for the exams if you put in enough effort. The TA and LAs I had were amazing as well!

Curlee is the best math professor I've had at UH so far. He clearly explains lectures, grades tests quickly, and provides a lot of resources. He publishes class notes, extra problems, practice exams including answers and videos to walk through the solutions, and publishes class note templates to follow along with.

Curlee is the best math teacher I have taken at UH Manoa! He always pushes you to do better and helps you get the answers for yourself. He always makes himself available to students. As long as you come into the course willing to work and learn, Curlee will be there to support you the whole way, I couldn't recommend taking a course from him enough.

Curlee is probably my favorite professor at UHM. He is always willing to help, and very accessible out of class. One thing would be that I wish he spend more time going over proofs in class rather than only examples, since proofs are a big part of MATH 307. However, if you understand all the homework and lectures, you should be fine in this class.

Genuinely one of the best teachers I've ever had. We had lectures on Monday and Wednesday and recitation on Tuesdays and Thursdays with TAs and LAs there to help you. It works really well and there are ALWAYS office hours. If you do the homework and make sure you understand the concepts, you will be fine. He is a great professor who really cares.

This guy the goat and has had practice exams and vids of him explaining each problem, He is every math student's idol and super funny. Also some things doesn't need to be simplified so super reasonable professor and recitation has goated LA's.

His lectures are very fast paced but he uploads videos which helps a lot if I didn't get it during lecture. He also has practice exams for each midterm and the final and those helped so much with studying and preparing for exams.

He is very knowledgeable in his subject but he moves quick in class. However, he post lectures videos so you can go back and watch anything you did not understand. If you do not understand something, or got a bad grade on the homework, go to his office hours and he really will make sure you understand it. Practice exams are VERY similar to test.

Super nice and chill dude. Moves fast in lectures and lots of homework, but recitation helps A LOT and he's super easy to reach outside of class. GO to his office hours if you're confused, he's nice and helpful 1 on 1. Don't fall behind on your work as it piles up, but there's ways to make it up! the tests are pretty hard but not too long

Very nice and funny, but I found his teaching style to be a bit difficult to understand. There are lots of opportunities to reach out for help, and there are plenty of times throughout the week to attend office hours. Assignments and exams were fairly challenging and took up a lot of time, but he has plenty of resources to help.

He is funny and keeps lectures engaging through jokes and other things. He understands what he is teaching but will occasionally skip a step or two in his explanation expecting that everyone remembers how to do it. Overall, very easy to understand and also provides access to lectures online and has lots of office hours.

Curlee was a super kind teacher, but personally the class was pretty difficult, I had even taken pre calc in highschool and gotten straight As, there is an INSANE amount of material covered in this class. But despite that curlee did an amazing job.
